New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@PurpleUnicorn01 ah right, hopfully you feel a little more prepared going into it next time. I know what you mean though, I kind of feel fine since my MC, almost too fine, like I'm waiting for it to creep back in. But for now, the first time in a long time I'm just enjoying having a break. My follow up isn't until the end of Feb, so still a while to wait but I'm ok with that. Yes I think the progesterone is finely timed. If your embryos were frozen on day 5, you start with the progesterone 5 days before the actual FET and the transfer is on the 6th day of taking progesterone.

@thislittlebird yeah I would contact them for sure, it might be fine, they're the experts I guess but no harm in double checking even if just for peace of mind. No I had no OHSS, I had 19 eggs retrieved and double that number of follicles so was expecting to have it but was fine, uncomfortable for a good few days after retrival, but fine overall.

pinkginpls · 15/01/2022 09:54

@dogmam good thing is I always have a good relationship with my line manager and he is man! We were having a catch up after I return to work from my surgery. I know he was waiting for me to bring it up but I just couldn't, I quickly spin it to work. But after that I told him over instant chat and he was very empathetic. My work also offer IVF leave so I have to tell work sooner or later. Glad it is out of the way so it won't be so awkward when I am going to miss half a day here and there for appointments etc.

thislittlebird · 16/01/2022 20:12

My friend who didn’t tell me she was pregnant sent me a message on Friday. I haven’t read it yet, planning to on Monday. I can see from the preview text she realises I’ve found out she’s very pregnant but on Friday I didn’t feel like dealing with it. I will have to tomorrow morning when I log on :/

Angelik1988 · 16/01/2022 20:56

I have been to the list since December as well ! And waiting .. does anyone know how long can take to start the procedure ?

Juno231 · 17/01/2022 09:48

@thislittlebird I forgot to say but I had something similar happen with my colleague/friend. She told me back in oct 2020 that they'd been struggling to conceive (after only 4 cycles lol) and I was being helpful and sympathetic and she knew all about my TTC issues. We carried on talking about this stuff until Jan 2021. Come April/May i find out through the grapevine that she's expecting a girl so was definitely pregnant when she was pretending to still be ttc. Apparently she then "forgot" to tell me she was pregnant. I haven't been able to move past that tbh and ignore her mostly nowadays, it felt very hurtful to find out from someone else and that she'd been actively hiding it from me.

Juno231 · 17/01/2022 09:55

@Angelik1988 what procedure?

thislittlebird · 17/01/2022 10:16

@Juno231 it’s really weird and I don’t understand the logic. Like who the hell would “forget” that???? It’s stupid.

So I read the message from the friend. She isn’t apologising for not telling me, she asking if I’m coming to the maternity leave call???? Erm...I don’t even know what to say. You haven’t told me and now you’re asking if I’m coming? I don’t even know when it is and I don’t know how to explain that I don’t want to go to that, thanks :/

thislittlebird · 17/01/2022 10:16

I would have gone if you’d fucking told me, b you didn’t and then I had the shock of hearing on the grapevine!

thislittlebird · 17/01/2022 10:17

@Angelik1988 hi, just as Juno said there’s lots of things so we might need more details on what you’re starting?

Angelik1988 · 17/01/2022 13:36

Thank you for the message . About IVF procedure . I have been told that Croydon nhs will contact me at some point in the next 18 weeks . But they have not told me what to expect .

JeanieJ · 17/01/2022 16:47

Hi @Angelik1988 I think I'm in the same boat. Did IVF funding appt last week & she said 18-20 weeks.
There's a Croydon thread : Croydon fertility treatment centre www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/3759206-Croydon-fertility-treatment-centre

@thislittlebird sorry about your situation with your friend 😞. She sounds inconsiderate.
I had a similar situation with my sister last June who made sure I was the last to know because she felt too awkward to tell me. I'm still mad about it because I think she is a giant coward. Part of me wants to spite her and just never want to mention my pregnancy if it ever happens 😈 ... but probably when it happens I'll just be too thrilled & tell everyone! 😂

Xx

thislittlebird · 18/01/2022 09:40

@Angelik1988 yeah I’d tend to agree with JeanieJ and say that’s the wait for the treatment to start

@JeanieJ it’s such weird behaviour and I can’t make sense of it. Now this person seems to have an OOO on and I’m like was that it? She left? That was fast. So I hadn’t replied by the Monday and Friday was her last day? Ok.......🙃

I was expecting her to say sorry she hadn’t told me and she just glossed over that part entirely lmao

PurpleUnicorn01 · 18/01/2022 11:06

@thislittlebird what an annoying situation.

Im down regulating from Feb 5th is anyone on that cycle?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 18/01/2022 11:06

Round 3! Feel like i could work in the hospital now lol

Juno231 · 18/01/2022 11:23

@Angelik1988 ah gotcha. My first appointment basically went through how IVF works and what kind of protocol they're planning on using on me. It included an ultrasound for good measure and then was followed by a nurses appointment (although many places would have you come back another time for this) to weigh me/measure my height and go through all the practical details of when to start meds, how to get them from the pharmacy etc. I had my appointment in Oct and they said to call back in Jan on CD1, but that's because there was a slight COVID delay to start and I was specifically going for short protocol.

@thislittlebird I'd honestly just ignore her message but then again I'm petty like that

@PurpleUnicorn01 Christ - I'm still angry from the fact they messed up your drugs last time!

Juno231 · 18/01/2022 11:25

@Angelik1988 btw my pathway was 18 weeks as well but it took me maybe 5 weeks to get approval and got my first appointment the week after.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 18/01/2022 12:50

@Juno231 Iol so am I. I don't really enjoy being a human pin cushion lol.

Im just at the point of 'sod it' have to get on with it now, it can't get any worse.

Gracie2021 · 20/01/2022 09:39

Just catching up here now. I blame the puppy. Feel like it's good practice for if things work out though as I'm learning all about teething, nap schedules etc.

@PurpleUnicorn01 glad you got your dates. Will that be about four weeks from 5th Feb til transfer? I'll be a bit before you but assuming egg collection second week in February we might be transferring in around the same dates. How are you doing?

@thislittlebird I'm with @Juno231 and would just ignore her message. I'm quite ruthless in terms of who's in my life and what they brings to it. Relationships have to be give and take. Sorry she's been so hurtful to you.

@Angelik1988 I'm not UK based so no insight into wait times etc but welcome 👋

@pinkginpls glad telling your line manager went well and brilliant yo have IVF leave. We've nothing like that so it'll be annual leave for me but told my manager and it went well. Except for him congratulating me on starting IVF 🙈😳 it's probably my biggest trigger. Why do people do that! Like, yay you have to spend a ton of money and do really invasive procedures for something most people get for free, congrats to you. Sorry that was a bit salty but it really gets me!

@dogmam glad the break is having a good effect on you. End Feb will come quickly too. How are you keeping these days?

@Kay00 hope this cycle is going well for you and the follicles are growing 🤞

PurpleUnicorn01 · 20/01/2022 10:47

@Gracie2021 yes it will be. Great to have a cycle buddy. We can share the meltdowns lol.

Angelik1988 · 20/01/2022 11:04

Thank you very much for the reply and support. I called Croydon fertility just to ask if I am on the list for ivf and everything is all right . They set up an appointment on Monday for me and my husband ! They said that I will do some tests and that appointment can take 1.5 hours :) . Does that mean the procedure will start there ? I am not sure ! But I hope

PurpleUnicorn01 · 20/01/2022 11:04

@Gracie2021 im also on long protocol its just minus the egg collection as ive had that last time. Just stay hydrated is my only advise and eat properly or you will feel more nausea than you need too.

beckyCarlos · 20/01/2022 11:12

I genuinely don't get the congratulating thing... i guess (leniently) they mean 'happy that things are moving forward for you' but I also think people who say congrats have NO idea whats involved...

Im low key freaking out about my hysteroscopy to remove the pesky polyp. Its at 2.10, and I've already convinced myself twenty times that its going to be so painful I'll pass out, or they wont be able to do it 🤣 I'm catastrophising but euuuugh I wish I didnt have to do this! Feeling v sorry for myself and havent even had anything snipped out yet 🤣

@gracie2021 glad the pup is well! The teething (/biting) does stop eventually!

pinkginpls · 20/01/2022 11:27

@Gracie2021ditto! congratulations on having to go through all this nonsense and suffer both physically and emotionally! no thanks! so bizarre... yea let's think he just meant good...

@beckyCarlos I had poylps removed back in May and agree it is not pleasant. I was offered anesthesia but that means I have to come back another time so I powered through. There was about 5 minutes (feel like 5 mins) of endurance, nurses were holding my hands. You will be fine, just remember to breathe!

Gracie2021 · 20/01/2022 11:58

@beckyCarlos 100% they mean well and yeah clueless... sending hugs for your procedure and fingers crossed it'll be over before you know it and not half as bad. Is there anything you can to distract yourself beforehand?

@pinkginpls I sound so ungrateful like he was very understanding and I know people mean well when they say it so take it with a pinch of salt in the moment. How are you keeping?

@PurpleUnicorn01 thanks for the advice! Due to start around the end of the month. 7DPO here at the moment so not long. Looking forward to sharing the rants! Company makes everything easier.

@pinkginpls thank you 💕 I know literally noone whos had this done, so real life experience is lacking and as we all know, Dr Google is a BAD place! The info from the clinic is that they WILL do a local, and I can have gas and air if I want, which is both reassuring and terrifying! I will, of course, come back and give a balanced report of the procedure (which I'm sure deep down will be fine, and no worse than when I pulled ligaments in my shoulder and cried whenever I moved) x
