@hoola23 it took me a while to process I was having a boy as I just don't see myself with a boy lol! But I'm mega excited about it now! The idea of raising a wonderful young man is awesome and I knew deep down DP wanted a boy so I'm particularly excited for him like you are with DH! I'm in full nesting mode though. Got a whole list of housey bits we're working through in advance even though we renovated last year lol! There's always something! X

CShandy01 · 25/03/2022 21:25

@hoola23 different hospitals offer different things. I never had a scan after 22 weeks (that was the second time trying to look for cleft lip) but I know other hospitals that offer a scan in the 3rd trimester. Because I moved house at around 30 weeks pregnant last time I'm not actually sure what the process is at my hospital so I could be totally wrong! I know they reassess if you're under midwife or consultant care at 28 weeks, and I'll be having the gestational diabetes test at 26 weeks. But that's about it! Xx

hoola23 · 25/03/2022 21:30

@newtolineofduty same! I'm really excited to raise a boy and to teach him all the important values that young boys should know!

We are also renovating! Finally about to start our back extension and renovating our bathrooms too. I've been assured the extension will be done by august but I'm not so sure 🤣🤣 I'm pretty laid back about it though as the rest of the house is finally all finished!

@CShandy01 I also have to have that GD test - another thing I'm stressing over 🙄 hasn't stopped me eating crap though 🤣🤣

@hoola23 this 2WW seems an eternity. Fully aware my period could be here by the morning and everything I've been hoping for the last two weeks has been nothing 🥺

newtolineofduty · 25/03/2022 21:48

@MrsRosaline it's really horrible when it gets to that crunch time x you've done so well not to test x

CShandy01 · 25/03/2022 21:55

@hoola23 I wouldn't worry about the GD thing - I mean I HATE needles so it's not great, and I need to eat in the morning otherwise I vom, but never mind 😂😂 the tests are always done in the morning, and the glucose liquid you have to drink after the first blood test tastes like syrup, it's so sickly sweet.

It's weird how you get treated with your second child as well (not sure if you feel like this @newtolineofduty) but you sort of get left alone 😂 the lady who did a breast feeding class for me the first time called me and was like "yeah you know what you're doing" and left it at that. I'm also a lot more confident in sticking up for myself too - so like last time I found breast feeding so hard because DD had a very very nasty tongue tie and so latching on was impossible on one boob and painful on the other. I was told not to use shields in hospital, but after 2 weeks by midwife told me to get them. This time round, I'm going armed and taking them with me into hospital. And I couldn't give two poops what they say xx

newtolineofduty · 25/03/2022 22:08

@CShandy01 yes I saw my midwife this week and I don't think I've seen her for about 10 weeks at least! Oh my friend had to have the GD test it sounds awful!

We found breastfeeding so difficult last time and ended up on formula but I should have stopped sooner I think rather than persist when it really wasn't working! I'm tempted to go straight to formula this time but I know every baby is different so I'm open at this point! My midwife was happy enough with that plan! X

CShandy01 · 26/03/2022 04:48

@newtolineofduty the only reasons why I am going to try breast feeding are 1) it helps all of my muscles get back to normal (seriously no one ever mentioned the contractions you get when you breast feed for the first time 😂) and 2) it means nipper has some of my anti bodies. If that means I breast feed for a week or two weeks then that's it. Equally, if I start combination feeding earlier then that's fine. Last time I was like you and persisted, this time I'm only going for as long as I'm comfortable 🙂 besides I hardly produced any milk so that was a massive issue: I'm not sitting for an hour and a half like I did last time to get around 75ml of milk. Xx

newtolineofduty · 26/03/2022 06:51

@CShandy01 yes sounds like a great plan! I'm deffo going to try and take the pressure off myself next time but it might be easier said than done with all the crazy hormones! X

LittleDoveLove · 26/03/2022 10:26

@hoola23 and @CShandy try not to worry. I had loads of scans as my bump always measured big and I had gestational diabetes but I knew I was just bloated on the measuring ones and he was only 7lb 3 when born. I didn't breast feed but I did so colostrum harvesting. I wanted to breast feed for first few days but I had a planned cesarean and it took a few days for my milk to arrive and by that time he liked the formula. If I am able to conceive again I plan on my combi feeding or expressing and bottle feeding as I have very sensitive boobs!
I also had gestational diabetes as mentioned but only needed insulin last 4 weeks and the minimum amount. I ate a lot of whole Earth peanut butter and ryvita and there is a Facebook group that is amazing that gives great tips.
Cleft lip I don't know I am afraid - my friends daughter had one and had operations when she was a few months old she fine now and talks fine. She's 2 now. I am sure you can get a private scan if concerned but try not to worry.x

@MrsRosaline fingers crossed for you.

hoola23 · 26/03/2022 10:45

@newtolineofduty @CShandy01 @LittleDoveLove I'm a first time mum so completely naive about everything but I really do want to breastfeed at least for the first 6 months if I can. Is it really that hard to do?! I kind of just figured everything would just happen naturally 🤣

I'm worried about the GD test as knowing my luck I'll get it🙄 I'm terrified I'll end up birthday a 12lb baby 🤣😭

@MrsRosaline how are things this morning? X

OP posts:
MrsRosaline · 26/03/2022 10:50

@hoola23 @LittleDoveLove I haven't tested yet. I just don't want to see a negative test. My period hasn't come yet but I know it could come later today.

CShandy01 · 26/03/2022 11:15

@hoola23 the problem is breast feeding is different for every mum, and you only really know how hard or easy it is once you start. So for me, my DD's tongue tie made it very hard for her to latch on. One nipple was too big for her so couldn't use that, and the other one she basically destroyed because of her limited movement. So it was incredibly painful. And then I hardly produced any milk so she was starving, hence why I started to combination feed at about 2 weeks in. I lasted another 4 weeks and then completely stopped the breast feeding as I just couldn't produce enough. Whereas my sister in law has hers gushing out - she actually sent extra bottles to her local hospital in case they needed it. Every mum and every experience is different though 🙂 all I can say is just keep an open mind about everything to do with pregnancy - that includes a birthing plan too!! Xx

CShandy01 · 26/03/2022 11:16

@MrsRosaline bless chick. How are you feeling? Any AF symptoms? Xx

hoola23 · 26/03/2022 12:00

@CShandy01 that sounds painful!! Yeah I'm not set on anything really, I just hope to be able to do this. Birth plan is getting him out as quickly as possible and as painless as possible 🤣🤣

OP posts:
hoola23 · 26/03/2022 12:02

@MrsRosaline you're so strong! Yes defo don't test, especially as you've got this far! Try and keep yourself distracted as possible!! X

OP posts:
MrsRosaline · 26/03/2022 13:54

@hoola23 just been swimming with DD. Am holding off testing. No sign of period but I am fully aware the b6 vitamin I added this month could be prolonging this phase of my cycle and delaying period!!

@CShandy01 I've got lower back ache, which was a big with with DD, but I also get it for periods quite badly as well so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

hoola23 · 26/03/2022 14:52

@MrsRosaline I'm so hopeful for you hun! Xxx

OP posts:
MrsRosaline · 26/03/2022 15:30

Nope period is definitely coming 😔 @hoola23

hoola23 · 26/03/2022 16:25

@MrsRosaline nooooo! Bloody AF sorry hun. Positive side is that you didn't test which really is an achievement! Sending you a hug xxx

OP posts:
MrsRosaline · 26/03/2022 17:09

Well, I did a test because I wanted to rule out a chemical and it read "not pregnant" - as predicted. So gutted 😩

MrsRosaline · 26/03/2022 17:15

Although I do have some relief it's not another chemical at least.

hoola23 · 26/03/2022 17:41

@MrsRosaline sorry lovely, but at least now you know and can just look towards next month xx

OP posts:
LittleDoveLove · 27/03/2022 22:15

Sorry @MrsRosaline 😞 at-least you know now and we can focus on next month 🤗 x

MrsRosaline · 09/04/2022 07:57

How is everyone doing?

I'm on CD15. No peak yet... think it'll be tomorrow. Is it OK to ovulate on CD16/17?? Seems late. @LittleDoveLove any news? Xx
