@thislittlebird what a bummer....although hopefully be OK as you already got your embryo so can affect quality. I think I got it in clinic waiting room as now didn't have to wear masks from that day, was 2 other couples in there, room was so hot and although window was open door was shut and no breeze, so I took mask off so we didn't pass out. Can't prove it but started feeling not right about 4/5 days after and hadn't been anywhere else.....we're fuming we avoided it for 2.5 years and of all the times to get it! Just have fingers crossed you're OK.
Anyone know what bmi restrictions are for London women's clinic? Just emailed about a webinar for couples (local clinic wasn't listed and I only wanted to know how to join it!!!) and they decided to send the flipping consultation form and info as well as attach a price list, talk about pushy! However it says bmi applies but doesn't say what it is....I'll be devastated if it's the same as nhs cos if so that'll be game over for using hubby's sperm unless he can drop like 7 stone (he's struggled all his life) 😪

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/07/2022 14:54

@MIW01 I am really hoping this is the one for you! Did you do a test? Everything crossed for you

@Lauralozzle my consultant isn't really interested in the endo at all, won't do a lap. She's pretty dismissive of everything really!

@pcosandme.x yes I think so, I've had longer cycles before it but never that bad and only on rare occasions

@Motherofkittens28 hi, hope you are well? So lovely to hear from you

@Sunbird24 that's great news they finally sorted moving them for you

@kerrym87 oh that's so unfair! Covid is a nightmare

@thislittlebird I really hope you don't have covid, it's such a pain causing so many issues.

@kerrym87 Obviously it's good I already have the embryos in storage, but I really am getting too old for these unnecessary delays. If I'm ok by Thursday (not yet tested positive so might be fine) and I go to the appointments I'll be making sure to wear a mask. I got too relaxed recently.

Did you find out about the London Women's Clinic BMI rules?

ShirleyValentineManc · 03/07/2022 21:15

Hi everyone. I've found this group thanks to @Marvellouslymadmum @thislittlebird I've been in the TTC 35+ for two years and have now got confirmed unexplained infertility. IVF consultant end of July at Manchester RI. Should start a couple of days after.
Can't believe I'm in this situation, all friends on 2/3 babies by now, just thought it would happen within two years!
Happy to meet you all and thanks for future advice and listening x

kerrym87 · 04/07/2022 10:18

@thislittlebird no max bmi for men but I'm making sure he continues to lose weight for our future and its only thing left to help with sperm quality.
@ShirleyValentineManc welcome...we have many identified reasons why we're like pandas in terms of reproducing but regardless of explained or unexplained it's awful isn't it! Me and hubby with our skewed sense of humour often laugh ironically about the whole of teenage and adult years the focus is on not getting pregnant....we need not have bothered! Hope you get somewhere at clinic x

MIW01 · 04/07/2022 10:47

Hello everyone, we got a negative test last Wednesday. That's all our NHS funding gone.

thislittlebird · 04/07/2022 13:42

@MIW01 that’s really shit, I’m so sorry it’s negative. I know what a long journey this has already been and it’s so unfair. You know where we are if you want to vent, we’ll be heading towards the end of our one and only nhs round in autumn if this one doesn’t work so if you’re venturing into private you won’t be alone, a few of us will likely be in the same boat.

@kerrym87 yeah that sounds like a good plan. You never know, it might have a positive effect on his sperm.

I’m currently testing negative for covid still, hoping it stays that way.

Sunbird24 · 04/07/2022 13:57

@MIW01 I’m so sorry, that sucks.

Sunbird24 · 05/07/2022 12:01

Argh, AF has turned up early! So this is CD1 and I could be pregnant (again) by the end of the month… Could this be the one??

CycleGirl20 · 05/07/2022 14:00

Just wanted to say "hi" and that I've been thinking of you all and I'm hoping for some good news for each of you soon. We did our IVF in the country we live in "abroad" and I found them to be a lot less stringent (and not randomly mean) about BMI limits. My BMI was 29 when we started IVF and no one seemed to care. Some doctors in the UK seem to have a bee in their bonnets about BMI and I don't think that attitude is helping anyone, or really working to help people control their weight.

paintfairy · 05/07/2022 17:31

@Sunbird24 I really hope it is the one for you! 🤞🤞🤞

kerrym87 · 05/07/2022 20:07

My SIL has been undergoing ivf in her 40s, private as hubby has previous kids....found out today it worked for her this time, which is great for her but it's hit me so hard and I feel broken for the first time since we had our failed transfer. Also been turned down for gaia insurance thingy as apparently 82% chance of success over 6 rounds is not good enough for them, totally overwhelmed at now having to look at private options, of which there are not that many round here

Marvellouslymadmum · 05/07/2022 20:24

Hi @ShirleyValentineManc and welcome, glad you found us ok

@MIW01 I'm so sorry to hear that, what is your plan moving forward?

@Sunbird24 I really hope this is the one for you!

@CycleGirl20 nice to hear from you, how are you getting on?
This is one of the reasons I'd like to do ivf abroad, definitely a lot less judgemental on many things including my age!

@kerrym87 it's such mixed feelings when others have success and we are still waiting, hope you're doing ok?

I'm cd21 today don't think I've ovulated but going for day21 bloods tomorrow anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sunbird24 · 05/07/2022 20:35

I’m starting my prednisolone on Sunday, and going for a CD10 scan on the 14th. These are both new things for this attempt so we shall see…

Sending lots of love and positive vibes for anyone who needs them today

thislittlebird · 05/07/2022 20:52

@kerrym87 how does this gaia thing work? I’ve heard of it but don’t know much

Try to take your sister in law’s news as a good sign I suppose, you’re a bit younger and I’m assuming this wasn’t their first try?

@Sunbird24 I’m dreading possibly having to use pred after my moon face stuck from using it last year briefly :/

My CD 9/10 scan is Thursday.

@Marvellouslymadmum Hope the bloods surprise you 🤞

Sunbird24 · 05/07/2022 22:07

Argh @thislittlebird I could do without that - have only managed to lose 4 of the 10kg I gained from all the ivf drugs (and covid eating) at the start of this process!

thislittlebird · 05/07/2022 22:22

@Sunbird24 honestly that stuff sucks lol. You might get lucky, but I know there was some kind of diet online to try to limit the negative side effects of it.

I'm 7lbs down from May (got to this point before holiday and I'm now back there again), will keep it up and hopefully lose a bit more. But not from the face, that still looks much rounder than before I took the pred!

Erm so I have a !surprise! showing of quite a lot of EWCM. It's cycle day 7. I'm panicking now, have emailed the clinic and asked if I should come in tomorrow instead of thursday? I was going to go to Cornwall on Thursday with DH but I guess I won't be doing that now. Although it might be ok, assuming I'll ovulate in a couple of days and then I think it's 5 days after that? It might work out ok yet.

CycleGirl20 · 06/07/2022 08:56

@Marvellouslymadmum I'm good, thanks for asking. All going well. I feel like this group had a small run of luck at the end of last year, do I'm hoping for another for you all.

kerrym87 · 06/07/2022 09:18

@thislittlebird they charge a flat fee start of each cycle it's like insurance almost to help with the cost but it seems their acceptance criteria is ridiculous....getting refused on 82% chance over 6 cycles I mean....its only 30% chance per cycle normal fertile unicorns.....

In terms of SIL the age for me is a weird one as my egg quality is shite before I've got older due to the pcos....my eggs don't mature properly and tend to be poor quality at just 35. My sister had same problem at age 25 and she is now moving forward childless. They've told me it's hard to draw parallels as every person is different and even cycle to cycle in same person...which happened with me. I hope this was just a bad one off and next cycle will be a little better as embryologist said they were not expecting this bad outcome at all. Not that it helps right now.

@sunbird if steroids work you can say you've got pregnancy glow....

@Marvellouslymadmum I never had a d21 bloods when I'd actually ovulated.....

I'm just worried about saying to manager I need more time off due to bloody covid flaring up ME and the fact that I'm gona keep having time off every cycle, we think we're gona try at least 2 more. I end up having at least 3 weeks off per treatment and I can't work from home as I work on a ward 🤷‍♀️

Anyone going private can you give me any advice on approaching it, anyone used access fertility? Confused how paying them everything upfront and having to pay meds extra is actually gona work out better, although refund if not successful I suppose helps. Either way we'll have to get a loan

Longbin · 06/07/2022 13:42

@kerrym87 have you looked into ABC IVF? That's who I use. Their communication isn't great so you're often left a bit in the dark with what's next, but it's cheap. £2750 for a fresh cycle if you meet their criteria.

kerrym87 · 06/07/2022 13:58

@Longbin thanks....closest clinic to me is Leeds....2 hrs single trip 😪 nit sure I can manage a 4 hr round trip 3 times a week for bloods

Longbin · 06/07/2022 21:12

@kerrym87 you don't go there for blood tests. Only scans. The baseline blood tests were done during my baseline scan appointment. I live 3 hours away and it's better than paying more money in my opinion.

Sweeeeet · 06/07/2022 21:33

Have I left it too late? I'm 43 and decided to try and conceive.i have had unprotected sex with my partner for the past couple of years and never got caught. So last month I bought an ovulation test (which I'd never tracked before) and we had sex on on my fertile days... I'm now 3 days late, is there a chance I might be pregnant even at my age?

kerrym87 · 07/07/2022 09:54

@Longbin clinic I'm at does blood Mon wed fri and titrated dose every 2 days if needed for my response, I also have pcos with high risk of hyperstimulation so would be anxious not being monitored closely as well. I needed 3 increases in meds first cycle to get 12 eggs, 7 embryos and only one blast. I also had a further scan prior to egg collection which also assessed quality and thickness of lining, was baseline only one you got?

Longbin · 07/07/2022 12:25

@kerrym87 I was just suggesting a cheaper option for you but if you're anxious it's probably not for you then. I had 2 scans before transfer for fresh and 1 for frozen I think. It is cheaper as it is a more generic approach. I had OHSS and was monitored in hospital. It wasn't picked up on scans as it was late onset. I had no symptoms prior to being pregnant.
