In the shimmering summer heat, we need to head for the water to cool down and relax. Bring your inflatable flamingo, your romcom read and your sunscreen, cause it's time for a pool party!

Welcome to the 12th post pill party thread. We are here for women who have recently come off the pill... and women like me who not-so-recently came off the pill! Share and get support with the highs and lows of TTC.

I can see these people rockin' up with their cossies on:

@Theosmommy2011 welcome! Are your 28 day cycles based on the pill though? If so they're not real cycles and it remains to be seen when AF (have you had a withdrawal bleed?) shows. Hopefully on time though so TTC can properly get started :)

@TheDaydreamBelievers thank you for the thread, I'll pop on there in a jiffy

@MissC07 oof it does look like triple digits is happening doesn't it?! And your docs just don't care? Would you prefer it coming during your holiday or being so late it comes after?

Theosmommy2011 · 03/08/2021 09:36

@Juno231 thank you. Well my cycle didn't change at all whilst on the pill so I am really hoping it will remain unchanged now. I haven't had any bleeding at all since stopping, just a waiting game now to see what happens. I'm so eager to get started xx

Juno231 · 03/08/2021 09:44

@Theosmommy2011 problem is that it's a fake cycle whilst on the pill - completely regulated by the meds and not your body. First stop for you now is to wait for a withdrawal bleed and then your real cycle commences :)

Woo8723 · 03/08/2021 09:46

Hi all, I’m new here. I came off the pill nearly 12 months ago and have been TTC since. Early miscarriage in April but nothing since. Test every month for ovulation using clear blue and always get a still smiley between days 15-18. My last two cycles have been all over the place since my first Covid vaccine - usually they’re 27-31 days but my last two have been 39 and 41 days. Still ovulating around the same time though. Had my second vaccine last week so goodness knows what effect that’ll have. Really fed up 😞 Rang the doctors this morning but they could only offer me a telephone appointment two weeks away.

Juno231 · 03/08/2021 10:01

@Woo8723 welcome! Do you carry on testing after ovulation? Only asking as LPs can be max 18 days long I think so in your 39 and 41 day cycles it's likely you caught a surge that didn't actually turn into ovulation and you ovulated later?

Woo8723 · 03/08/2021 10:08

@Juno231 aw thanks so much for your reply. I don’t usually test after ovulation but will do this month to see if it sheds any light on what’s going on! x

Theosmommy2011 · 03/08/2021 10:16

@Juno231 I hadn't realised that with the POP, thank you for that :-). Yes, I'll just wait on a withdrawal bleed and go from there. Fingers crossed it comes soon xx

Kay00 · 03/08/2021 11:01

Welcome @Theosmommy2011 @Woo8723 !!

Morning ladies. I had my follow up appointment with the fertility consultant this morning. We discussed the results of the HyCoSy (my poly cystic ovaries) and the Metformin which I have started. She has now also prescribed me Clomid (hurray!!).

I think I have just ovulated (CD20/21) so I might give Metformin another cycle to work its magic after this one, then on to my 1st Clomid cycle. If my cycles play ball then I will be starting Clomid mid/late Sept.

Clomid will induce ovulation in 80% of women, and will lead to pregnancy for 40%, so I have my fingers crossed I will fit into that 40%!!

@Juno231 the doc went 'well as long as you have 4 periods a year then that's fine....' 🤬 I really would like it after my holiday as I know I sound over dramatic but I don't want it to ruin my holiday. The pathetic 4 cycles I've had post pill I've always had a 14 day LP so I keep working dates out on the calendar if by some miracle I do ovulate and AF arrives! (Chart attached for just pure embarrassment)

@Kay00 congrats on your appointment and clomid!!

@TheDaydreamBelievers keeping everything crossed for you!!

Nevermind my hopes. I either did not ovulate yet or this will be a super short cycle overall. Temps down again already

@MissC07 arghhhh so frustrating!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 10:02

@TheDaydreamBelievers nooo what even is that?! Did you take it much earlier at all? Mouth open?

Kem1234 · 04/08/2021 10:08

Hi everyone, newbie here. I'm 9 months off the pill and on cycle 5. Currently day 60 of my longest cycle with a peak OPK on Monday. Absolutely no idea what I'm doing, doctors won't speak to me yet. I'm not sure about PCOS as irregular period is my only symptom, so frustrating! Especially when everyone I know falls pregnant 3 seconds after stopping the pill.

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 10:44

@Kem1234 Welcome! It does seem that you fall into a similar pattern of long cycles as many of us women on this thread. It could be something like PCOS causing delayed cycles (my only symptom was irregular periods too) but you won't know for sure until you get checked out by a fertility specialist. Are you taking any supplements to help with cycle regularity?

Kem1234 · 04/08/2021 10:47

Should I be able to ask my doctor about this? Or do you think I will need to wait until that year mark? I did try taking conceive plus but noticed no difference so stopped. Any recommendations are welcome.

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 10:49

@TheDaydreamBelievers hmm.... how much earlier did you take your temp this morning?

@MissC07 Urgh!! That's awful. Technically it can be problematic for women if they has less than 4 x periods a year... but that shouldn't mean that is an acceptable number of periods for a year!? I think you need this to be investigated by a specialist really, can you remind me what your referral status is?

Kay00 · 04/08/2021 10:53

@Kem1234 I think its unlikely your GP will be interested unless you have been trying for a year unfortunately. I take Conceive Plus Fertility Support and Conceive Plus Ovulation Support (which includes Myo-inositol, D-chiro-inositol and CoQ10) together and they have really helped bring my cycles down from 45 days (on average) to 30 days. But I know they won't work the same for everyone, and they are expensive, but if you are able to give them a go, then they might work some magic for you too.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/08/2021 10:58

@Juno231 @Kay00 it was only 30 min earlier so not much at all! I always sit with my mouth closed for 3mins before I press go on the temp wand so sadly not!

OP posts:
Kay00 · 04/08/2021 11:08

Well.... in that case I'm gong to hope your temp shoots back up tomorrow, and we can put it down to a 2nd estrogen surge or implantation (fingers crossed)!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 11:22

@MissC07 it's like banging your head against a wall isn't it. Baffling that they have this attitude...

@Kem1234 to add to what Kay00 said - if you have the means and don't want to wait until the year mark I'd advise you to get a fertility MOT (for you and OH) done privately.

MissC07 · 04/08/2021 12:36

@Kay00 the GP said 'so we would usually refer you, but as you aren't TTC at the moment (I have been since Nov but we're putting it on hold now until the New Year) just call us when you are.....' But it still doesn't help with my lack of AF!! Do you think I should call them back and ask for a referral as TTC or not, my cycles shouldn't be this wonky...? I'm getting myself so stressed about when AF will arrive which I know doesn't help in itself!!

Juno231 · 04/08/2021 13:12

@MissC07 it doesn't hurt to try - I'd just tell them you've had a change of heart and you're trying now. These things take ages anyway so I wouldn't want to wait until the New Year and only then get referral processes going.

ChinChilly · 04/08/2021 18:06

Being back in the office is so time consuming, no time for a cheeky look on MN. Well FF confirmed ovulation on CD27 so I'm 3dpo at the mo, not that it really matters for the next few cycles.

@MissC07 your GP sounds useless, I'd defo go back and say you've changed your mind on the TTC, everything with the NHS takes so long at the moment it'll probs be new year before the ball starts rolling anyway.

@Kem1234 welcome, have you spoken to your GP? They may well not see you until it's been 12 months but before I had a recent MC my GP agreed to some tests and starting a fertility referral as they take so long it would of taken me up to the 12 month mark at the time anyway.

@TheDaydreamBelievers I feel disappointed at your chart, had everything crossed for you.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/08/2021 18:27

@ChinChilly ikr. What a massive troll chart! My bet is that I havent ovulated at all yet
