In the shimmering summer heat, we need to head for the water to cool down and relax. Bring your inflatable flamingo, your romcom read and your sunscreen, cause it's time for a pool party!

Welcome to the 12th post pill party thread. We are here for women who have recently come off the pill... and women like me who not-so-recently came off the pill! Share and get support with the highs and lows of TTC.

I can see these people rockin' up with their cossies on:

@Moocher90 When I had my first jab I had a really heavy mid cycle bleed which I had never had before. There's lots (thousands) of women reporting in random cycle variations post jab, including post menopausal women bleeding again so it can def have an effect. Having said that - @Carolinesturn it's very much temporary so no reason not to have it. What is one or two messed up cycles in the grand scheme of covid immunisations after all.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 26/07/2021 17:16

@Carolinesturn Ive had both, quite a while ago now. It didnt seem to have any impact on my cycle.

OP posts:
MissM94 · 26/07/2021 19:18

@Carolinesturn after my first my cycle was fine, after my second I didn't have a period for three months, got sent for tests and scans and everything so far is clear so the only thing I can blame it on is the vaccine but I wasn't upset about it being because of that.. I'm glad to be fully vaxxed and my periods came back eventually so like Juno said, in the grand scheme of things - it's not an issue to be a bit messed up, just prepare yourself for it Incase it does affect you so don't start losing your mind and convincing yourself you've got all sorts wrong with you 😂

MissC07 · 26/07/2021 20:38

@Kay00 Congrats on your walk! I hope you didn't get caught in any of the thunderstorms we had down here yesterday!!

@Carolinesturn I haven't had an AF since my first Pfizer vaccine at the end of May. Still went ahead with my second vaccine on Saturday as I don't want it stopping me doing things/going on holiday etc - also I'm not even sure the vaccine is the cause of no AF. I'm probably clutching at straws 😂 CD 84 and nothing at all. It's my birthday on Wednesday and I start my new job next Monday so sods law says something will probably happen then!

Carolinesturn · 26/07/2021 21:51

That's all really interesting everyone, I had absolutely no idea! I got my covid vaccine around 8 weeks ago just when I was coming off the pill, I'm kind of ashamed to admit I'm frightened of getting my second one now as I'm such a worrier! But I'll try to pluck up the courage and get it as I know it's got the good of everyone else too!

So I am currently 12dpo and I had slight bleeding and cramps since 7dpo. Bleeding and cramps now completely gone, I promised myself I wouldn't test but if I've got my jab on Wednesday morning I might have to. If I'm not pregnant I'm a bit worried about all that lp bleeding!

Kay00 · 26/07/2021 22:06

@missC07 yup, unfortunately it rained really hard for the first 15k, which soaked us to the bone, and from that point on we stank 😂😂😂

ChinChilly · 27/07/2021 09:03

@Kay00 Amazing step count! Very impressed

@Carolinesturn I haven't had any of my vaccines yet, I was called for my first one while I was pregnant, I was then told by my GP I shouldn't have it as I was pregnant 🤷🏼‍♀️ since my MC I just haven't booked it in...the whole messing up or cycles and random bleeding does concern me abit, I think I'd like to know why it had that effect before I commit to it to be honest, but equally as you say I feel irresponsible. None of my friends have had it and very few under 30s have had it where I work (local government) apparently mostly women and for the reason of the wonky cycles afterwards.

ChinChilly · 27/07/2021 09:08

Pressed send to soon, @Carolinesturn I think we've touched on the vaccine on this thread before and I guess at the end of the day it's an entirely personal decision that has to be right for you. I'd say i will probably have it, i just need to do my own research i guess and make a decision.

Carolinesturn · 27/07/2021 09:35

13dpo after bleeding from 7dpo. I'm in shock. I actually thought my proper AF was coming last night. No sore boobs or any symptoms though other than uterus pain

Juno231 · 27/07/2021 09:52

@Carolinesturn wow there's no denying that line!! So strong! Look at you Grin Congratulations xxx

@kay00 I'm in awe of that step count! I did 150k steps over 7 days on my holiday and was happy with that lol - most I did on any one day was 45k. I climbed a munro and am pretty sure my left big toe nail will fall off as it's nearly black with bruising. Can't imagine the state your feet are in!

Kay00 · 27/07/2021 10:14

@Carolinesturn Wow! Huge congratulations! You must be so pleased Grin

@ChinChilly @Juno231 thanks ladies Smile my feet look terrible - haha! I have blisters on my blisters and I think I might loose 4 x toenails. My hip and knees are recovering fast which is good, but I'm still struggling to walk and do basic things (like dress myself).

I'm worried that I might have ovulated early :/ I didn't get any EWCM (that I noticed) but as I was prepping for and then completing this massive walk we didn't DTD so far this cycle. I'm hoping that my high temps the past two days have been because of my body trying to repair itself.... but I suspect we might have missed this month.

In other news... I have taken my first MetFormin tablet today, and as a result my new diet starts (low carb, low sugar).

Juno231 · 27/07/2021 10:25

@kay00 if you already have ovulated then it'll be a short cycle at least and at this rate you might just about have healed by the time next egg rolls around! You poor thing though, sounds like you need to live in a hot tub for the foreseeable future. I'm excited to see you get on with the metformin! I started my diet yday, although I was super bloated after my holiday excesses so next week's weigh in will be a doddle with the water weight going lol.

Kay00 · 27/07/2021 10:29

@Juno231 I am lucky to have a really deep bath, so have had one a day for the past few days... it is amazing how healing hot water can be! I am hoping my new diet/metformin can help me shift my belly fat and keep it off Smile.

Carolinesturn · 27/07/2021 10:38

Thank you @Kay00 and @Juno231
After taking the cheap FSH test that came in my OPK kit that came back positive I've been convinced my ovaries were failing, I've spent 20% of my waking hours googling peri menopausal symptoms so to say I'm happy is an absolute understatement.
This month I was in a panic as I had brown spotting so early (evening of 6dpo) and I wasn't getting any other symptoms, my hcg seems high but no sore boobs.
I'm not going for covid jab tomorrow, I just can't risk the guilt if it turns into a chemical even if it wasn't the vaccines fault

Kay00 · 27/07/2021 11:06

@Carolinesturn I think you need to do what you need to do to keep your stress levels low, so that you can enjoy this special time Smile You may choose to re-book your 2nd vaccine for a time that your pregnancy seems more stable for example. I'm so super pleased for you! I hope you go on to have a long and problem free pregnancy Smile

Moocher90 · 27/07/2021 12:22

@Carolinesturn congratulations on the BFP!!

I think I might be ovulating… would you say this is a positive one or maybe my next wee?

Post Pill Party - Pool Party
Moocher90 · 27/07/2021 12:23

Or should I say body trying to ovulate…. LH is high.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 27/07/2021 12:24

Wow @Carolinesturn - that was quick, congratulations! Hope it all goes smoothly.

OP posts:
Kay00 · 27/07/2021 13:06

@Moocher90 that looks positive to me, but no harm in doing a few more OPKs Grin

MissC07 · 27/07/2021 14:32

@Carolinesturn wow congratulations!!

@Kay00 are you doing anything special for your diet? Or just cutting out a lot of carbs and sugar? Given my impending PCOS diagnosis I really should start something too. I'm so struggling with exercise at the moment and need a rocket up my arse!

@Moocher90 looks positive to me!! Maybe test again tomorrow just to be sure too.

CD85 for me and I honestly am losing the will with my temps....

ChinChilly · 27/07/2021 14:48

@Carolinesturn congratulations, amazing lines for 13dpo. Do what you're comfortable with regarding the vaccine.

@Kay00 I'm not surprised you're feet are in a bit of a state, fingers crossed with the metformin.

So I'm 3 weeks post MVA, I've taken a pregnancy test and it looks like a BFN at first glance but I can definitely now see a pink tinge on the test line 🙄 never did I think I would be hoping to see a stark white test.

Kay00 · 27/07/2021 15:37

@ChinChilly when would you expect to get a stark white on a pregnancy test after an MVA, is three weeks long enough?

@MissC07 I really feel you pain with that chart! Hopefully they are able to diagnose you quickly and give you something to induce your period! As for diet, I am moving to a Low GI diet (low carbs and low sugar) as sugar and carbs can mess with your hormone imbalance if you have PCOS, apparently some morning exercise can help with your hormone imbalance too.

ChinChilly · 27/07/2021 15:54

@Kay00 I'm not sure to be honest, they didn't say at the hospital but from what I've read online it's normally around 3 weeks.

Juno231 · 27/07/2021 15:55

Just adding that it's wise to go low GI with PCOS also due to the much higher risk of insulin resistance and developing diabetes - just in case anyone was on the fence about it!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 27/07/2021 16:24

@Juno231 @Kay00 but I love carbs and sugar... /cry

@ChinChilly approx 3 weeks is normal. I took 9 but as with literally all hormones stuff I seem to be a shitty random case.
