In the shimmering summer heat, we need to head for the water to cool down and relax. Bring your inflatable flamingo, your romcom read and your sunscreen, cause it's time for a pool party!

Welcome to the 12th post pill party thread. We are here for women who have recently come off the pill... and women like me who not-so-recently came off the pill! Share and get support with the highs and lows of TTC.

I can see these people rockin' up with their cossies on:

@MissC07 can I also ask what your abnormalities were?

MissC07 · 18/08/2021 07:55

@HeavenlyHoping I've just turned 33. Am now just waiting for AF to arrive, my doctors have basically said I need to wait 4 months until they'll intervene, so that'll be beginning of September! I'm due to go holiday next Sunday so sods law it'll turn up then!!

The blood test just showed that my hormones were the same as people with pcos (I can't remember off the top of my head which hormone is which 🙈 but it's further down this thread) We were trying to conceive from November until May when I got offered a new job. So we're putting TTC on hold until early next year.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/08/2021 08:42

@HeavenlyHoping I'm another on here with very irregular periods and 2 longggg cycles (one 161 days, one 100 days). I am 32yrs, almost definitely have PCOS but GP will not refer for further investigations until a year after miscarriage (Dec 2021). We are about to go private for assessment and likely intervention too.

HeavenlyHoping · 18/08/2021 09:10

@MissC07 it’s a long ol’ wait isn’t it :( Do you know what the intervention will be in September? Just medication to bring on a bleed?
It’s weird how we both had periods straight after stopping (slightly long cycles I know) but still 4 periods like we were settling into a rhythm then suddenly our bodies decided to stop working for 3+ months. It’s really getting me down.
At least the holiday might take your mind off it all a little. At least you have some results too so you know what you are dealing with. I’m getting really anxious now :(

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. The only consolation is you know you can fall pregnant so that must be a relief for you- I have read on a few forums that a MC can cause irregular periods for a while so hopefully that’s the case for you rather than pcos. Do you have any other symptoms relating to pcos?
Assuming you were on the pill previously? When did you come off bc?
Have they always been irregular?

Juno231 · 18/08/2021 09:25

@HeavenlyHoping the hormone results @MissC07 to indicate PCOS was an LH to FSH ratio of 3:1. Normally they're 1:1. Just FYI.

Tillybabs · 18/08/2021 14:02

Hi ladies.

Have any of you had any scans privately? I'm thinking of having one done privately before I commence ivf just to put my mind at rest about these myomas.

Could anyone recommend somewhere? Thanks

Juno231 · 18/08/2021 15:50

@Tillybabs any of the harley street clinics should be good I reckon? Evewell and ARGC? Although they're quite pricey!

Moocher90 · 18/08/2021 15:51

Afternoon ladies,

My IVF consultation is booked in for 3rd September. Hopefully I may even manage to get the IVF done in that cycle as my next cycle starts on/around 10th September.

Whitfields09 · 18/08/2021 16:10

Afternoon Ladies,

I am new to the forum and new to TTC.

I had a coil fitted 5 years ago and not had a period in all of that time, other than some mild spotting every now and again.

I had the coil removed on 22nd July to start TTC and had a bit of a bleed for a few days but it was not like my usual period. We DTD on 8th August and only done it the once this month due to both being very busy and working away.

I think I am going mad but over the past week I have had hot flushes with night sweats, cramps for the past 2 days, absolutely shattered and got some spotting today.

I am still adamant my period is about to show itself as I have woke up with my one spot I get, with the cramps and spotting today. However, I have never had spotting before a period before and never had this hot feeling.

What I was wondering is has anyone who had the coil removed had similar symptoms afterwards? Are my hormones just all over the place or have I beat the odds in our first month TTC.

I have several conditions that are going to affect my chances (as put by my GP), including underactive thyroid, endometriosis and PCOS.

Any advice on TTC or the coil removal symptoms would be appreciated :)

Thanks

Juno231 · 18/08/2021 16:58

@Whitfields09 Welcome! Is that a hormonal/mirena coil I take it? I imagine any hormonal contraceptive will take a while to recover from potentially. And bear in mind any pregnancy symptoms are exactly the same as pre menstrual symptoms so don't read into the hot flushes, cramps etc as it's a recipe for heart break. Are you tempted to test at all? That way you'd know where you stand right now.

@Moocher90 amazingly quick! Is it reprofit in the end or another one?

Tillybabs · 18/08/2021 17:05

@Moocher90 that's quite soon. I hope it all goes well and fingers crossed for you x

Moocher90 · 18/08/2021 17:32

@Juno231 it’s called FertilityPort in Prague. Gets done very good reviews. Someone on FF also used them and had nothing but praise

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/08/2021 18:49

@HeavenlyHoping even prior to miscarriage my cycles were super long. Ive not had one shorter than 49 days. The miscarriage was 6 months/2 cycles into trying, at 11weeks pregnant. All in all been trying for 1.5 years

OP posts:
HeavenlyHoping · 18/08/2021 19:01

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m so sorry, that must of been awful for you. I’ve heard miscarriages on first pregnancies are very common. I know quite a few people who have had one and then gone on to have healthy pregnancies so don’t give up hope.
Have you had any bloods or tests at all regarding your long cycles?
I’ve read a lot of forums saying it can take up to a year for cycles to settle down but 3 months without AF I thought I’d speak to my GP. I’m still holding out hope I’m still ‘settling down’ 10 months on….

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/08/2021 19:59

@HeavenlyHoping they did bloods twice, which only showed "not ovulated yet" which was not news to me, haha. Other than that, the nhs requires you to wait 1 year after the loss. Im going private this month. Even if the nhs got its act together with testing, the waitlist for intervention is around 2 yrs, so im not holding out hope for them.

@Moocher90 it all sounds really positive.

Eurgh I'm having a TTC down day today, not sure why or what's triggered it. Maybe it's because I turn 30 on Monday and I always thought I would of had babies by the time I was 30 😞

Kay00 · 18/08/2021 21:27

@chinchilly remember, age is just a number! That's what I tell myself when I realise I'm pushing 40 and don't yet have any kiddos 😘

I got a little promotion in work today 😁 well, actually it's quite a big promotion but it doesn't come with any additional pay 🤔 but it gets me a lot of visibility within the organisation and a good opportunity to network. Its a coverted position so its quite exciting I suppose!

MissC07 · 18/08/2021 21:45

@HeavenlyHoping I think they'll just give me tablets to kick start AF. I'm actually worrying that it's going to ruin my holiday but I'm being overdramatic.

@Juno231 thank you for reminding me. I really need a better memory 🙈

@Moocher90 that's great news! I hope it all goes well for you.

@TheDaydreamBelievers remind me again, with your super long cycles did AF just show up or did you ovulate?

@ChinChilly sorry you're having a down day. Do you have any nice plans for your 30th?

@Kay00 congratulations on the promotion!! That's great news! I'm sure the extra pay will come in time and it's great you'll be getting a lot of exposure!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/08/2021 22:38

@MissC07 the first one no ovulation detected, the second ovulation detected 10 days before AF

@Moocher90 I'm so sorry to hear your news but sounds like you are being proactive. I have premature menopause and AMH is actually not routinely used to measure ovarian reserve. The test for POI (primary ovarian insufficiency) is having FSH levels of over 40, 6 weeks apart and 4 months without a period. What was your FSH?

Interestingly, I've been advised to keep trying naturally until Christmas, at which point I plan to start donor egg IVF. My AMH is 0.36 so IVF with my own eggs is pointless.

ChinChilly · 19/08/2021 08:14

@Kay00 Thanks, you're right. Congratulations on the promotion.

@MissC07 just the usual really few meals out and stuff like that, we're going to a thing called 'ghetto golf' basically an over 18s crazy golf with alcohol, I've been before it is a good laught to be fair but I'm not really a big birthday person.

I woke up this morning feeling like I've been hit by a bus 😩

TheDaydreamBelievers · 19/08/2021 08:34

@Kay00 congratulations!!!

So I’m CD 10 today and have got a positive OPK. I’m so confused as I never ovulate this early and I rarely ovulate at all. Because of the hycosy on CD7 we have only just DTD this morning as I was spotting before then. They prescribed me antibiotics which I was told to take for 7 days. Did anyone else who had hycosy take the antibiotics after? Will this hinder anything?
If we continue to DTD today and 2mo are we in with a shot this cycle?

Yesterday I didn’t get a peak reading but was getting stronger. So if I am ovulating it may have started over night.

I’m aware this could be a fluke and my body might try to ovulate again. I did wake up to a temp of 36.24 this morning though and the day before was 36.08.

Juno231 · 19/08/2021 13:01

@Moocher90 it wont hinder anything - my doc specifically said I could go back to TTC straight after the procedure :) Much like you I think I had the hycosy on a Friday and then ovulated early on the Sunday

Moocher90 · 19/08/2021 13:08

@Juno231 was you given antibiotics and did you take them?
