Thread #2... TTC our first!

OP posts:
taytay2020 · 20/07/2021 13:54

Hi @broodyas yep I've been there! It's tough to see that bfn or the arrival of af, whatever month you're on. I'm on cycle 6 and I think I've chilled out a bit, but at the same time I'm less chilled cos nothing's happening! I just want it over with - if/when I get a bfp I'm sure my main emotion will be pure relief 😂

broodyas · 20/07/2021 18:29

Thanks for the reassurance!! Smile I thought I would be chilled so was surprised to find myself emotional! AF hasn't fully shown herself yet so I'm hopeful it might have been spotting from implantation?! (Probably not!)

broodyas · 20/07/2021 18:32

@westonx @taytay2020 good luck to you both too for this month!

BritInNZ · 20/07/2021 19:24
@BritInNZ hey there, going by the wee arrows on some of the entries I'm guessing you didn't temp at the same time each day? X
The guidance I've had is to add or minus 0.05 for lay ins/getting up early. So if I have slept in at the weekends I have followed this rule. It's never more than half an hour each way though.

Lebe14 · 20/07/2021 19:42

@broodyas of course you can join! And not insensitive at all. No matter what month AF shows her face it's always disappointing! I'm on cd18, 2dpo on cycle #11 - so have been on here for a while 😂 I will be absolutely amazed if I get a BFP and get to see two lines on a test!!

Fingers crossed AF doesn't arrive for you and it's just some spotting! Let us know how you get on x

Kristinax · 20/07/2021 20:43

Hi everyone!
Can I join in? It's our 2nd cycle of trying, I'm 1dpo currently. We had a few months of not trying but also not not trying so I feel like it's been way longer already haha will try my best to not test until at least the 1st(famous last words!)
How is everyone feeling? Sending baby dust to everyone!!😊

It's so hard not to test! I tested this morning and bfn. Not sure how many DPO as avoiding OPKs as I will just obsess. But EWCM started around 2 weeks ago.
Kristinax · 21/07/2021 15:51

@broodyas sorry for your BFN, tests don't always pick it up very quickly, do you know roughly when your AF is due? This month I had ewcm 3ish days before I actually got a peak reading on an OPK so it cant always be that precise and maybe you're still early? Fingers crossed it'll be your month !

That's true, thank you :)
AF is due tomorrow or the day after. Cycles have been slightly irregular but getting shorter and shorter since coming off the pill in Feb. Will test if it's a few days late I think!

Fingers crossed for you too! Good luck with this 2WW :)

Kristinax · 21/07/2021 21:39

@broodyas good luck with the testing! Let us know how it goes, hope your AF doesn't show it's ugly face and it's your month :) have you had any symptoms?
Thank you! I'm still so early so feeling pretty chill, but I know come 7dpo I'll start to get twitchy haha

LetsDoTheTango · 22/07/2021 01:20

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join you?

I'm finding TTC all consuming at the moment and wherever I go there seems to be pregnant women or women with babies and children :(

I told myself I wouldn't get obsessed but we're four months in and it's all I can think about. I have had a word with myself tonight as I know it's still very early on in the grand scheme of things.

Usually I have regular 28 day cycles but these have been extended on two occasions this year - once right after I had Covid, and another after I had my first jab. Have any of you experienced anything like this? Would be interested to hear your stories.

If this cycle is unsuccessful then I am going to try OPKs next month. They seem quite confusing but I'll give it my best shot.

It really helps reading all of your experiences too, to know I'm not alone, as lately I've been feeling very lonely with it all xx

broodyas · 22/07/2021 14:24

Thank you so much! Still no more spotting, did have some very mild cramps this morning (not sure if I was imagining them!). No symptoms really though!

@LetsDoTheTango so sorry that you've been feeling down Thanks I'm exactly the same as you, DH and I said we'd see how it goes, no stress, we've only been trying a month and I'm already stressing! It is good to know there are other people in the same boat. Sending you lots of baby dust!

Kristinax · 22/07/2021 20:37

@LetsDoTheTango Yeah it's tough seeing everyone around you being pregnant/ with kids isn't it, can really get you down, but that'll be you one day too, just got to try and concentrate on that :)
I usually have 27 day cycles and when I had my covid jab it luckily didn't change that. I did actually get covid 2 weeks ago or so, so will see if it affects my next cycle, really hope not!
Fingers crossed it'll be your lucky cycle! Do you know how many dpo you are? Loads of people prefer the relaxed method of trying! I actually prefer OPK's, gives me a peace of mind that we're catching the right days! Haha

Kristinax · 22/07/2021 20:44

@broodyas that's promising then if it's been a few days since the spotting and still no AF? Yeah I constantly think every little twinge is something it's not, so tough not to over think these things!

LetsDoTheTango · 22/07/2021 23:30

@broodyas Thank you for your kind words, and the flowers Smile my husband is much more relaxed about it than me, but I just have such a strong maternal urge, I can't explain it! But I'm sure you know what I mean. I hope AF doesn't arrive for you and you get a BFP. I know a few people who only took a month, so it does happen Flowers

@Kristinax thank you, yes I keep visualising myself with a baby in my arms. I've never wanted something so badly! I always knew I wanted to be a mum one day but recently those feelings have become quite overwhelming. A couple of people close to me have recently had babies in the last year, and a few more are due later this year, so it's been a bit of a baby boom in my friends and family circle. Whenever I cuddle their gorgeous babies I just long for one of my own Sad

I'm glad you didn't have any effects from the jab, fingers crossed it's the same after the actual virus. I hope you didn't feel too unwell with it. Hopefully you're feeling better now?

I'm currently 10DPO but I can feel PMS symptoms already, so am fully expecting AF to arrive on schedule next Wednesday. I feel exactly the same as I do every month leading up to my period so I think I'm probably out for this month. I just want AF here now so I can move on to the next cycle. Patience has never been my strong point Grin

I am definitely trying OPKs next month, I'm quite intrigued to see when I actually ovulate, as I'm just guessing using an app at the moment. I do find it interesting. Our bodies are so amazing!

It's so helpful having this outlet where I can talk about it as we've not told friends or family we're trying yet. It's always this time of night that my brain goes into overdrive and I lie awake thinking about things, so to write it all down and have people who really understand responding to me is an absolute life saver. So thank you.

Sending you all lots of baby dust Star x

Kristinax · 23/07/2021 17:53

@LetsDoTheTango aw I'm sorry, I know what you mean, it can be quite painful and difficult, especially as of course you want to be happy for those around you but I know it can be difficult! I'm sure your time will come soon, just stay hopeful and keep on trying, I do hope that this is your month though❤
Luckily I didn't feel too bad, just had a bad cold/headaches etc! That was last month during my tww, and then this month I have to self isolate again so it's the worst timing just being stuck indoors with no distractions!

Don't lose hope yet! Everyone I know who have had babies always say that they thought their AF was about to come on, and then when they miss it they're surprised and found out that they're pregnant! So it can actually be a positive sign, you're not out until AF shows :)

Yeah I'm the same, I haven't told anyone that we're ttc, so MN is definitely lovely lil community to have! Been getting the "when are you having kids" questions constantly as well so that doesn't help! Aha

taytay2020 · 24/07/2021 13:46

@letsdothetango it's so hard not to obsess isn't it?! I've found it particularly hard to plan for the future, especially as things are opening up now after what has been a quiet year for me work-wise. I'm self-employed so do I do marketing for next year, or do I assume it's a waste of my time cos I'll just have to cancel anything I do book?! And hearing about other people's pregnancies is a bit hard but at the same time I'm sure they'd feel the same way if our roles were reversed. I've definitely calmed down since the first couple of months so hopefully you will too, if you have to wait this long!

taytay2020 · 24/07/2021 13:49

@kristinax @letsdothetango I had my first jab (moderna) about 6 weeks ago and had no side-effects beyond the aching feeling that someone had stuck a needle in my arm(!). My next period arrived as normal, and now I've ovulated (or at least got peak LH which is the only thing I test for) at about the right time too.

taytay2020 · 24/07/2021 13:59

How's your tww going @Lebe14? Any symptoms to obsess over?!
.
I had a lotttt of EWCM last night, and got what I'm assuming is my peak this afternoon (3.0!). I know I said I wasn't going to use opks this time round but I decided on Wednesday that I really wanted to know what was happening 😂 I've not shared the results with my DH this month though.
.
We haven't gone crazy with dtding in this heat, but managed on Wednesday night, and this morning. Wanted to try last night after the ewcm but we were just too shattered. Will also try again tomorrow but I'm hoping this morning was enough - I know it's not supposed to make a difference but I did curl my legs up afterwards today juuuuuust in case lol (I felt a lot like daphne in brigerton 😂). Anyone else ready to try literally anything at this point?!

Lebe14 · 24/07/2021 18:06

Hey @taytay2020 my 2WW is okay so far. No symptoms though - feeling completely normal, but I'm still only 6DPO. Not holding out for this month but have realised I'm on cycle number 10, not 11!! So I'm feeling a bit better about that 😂 I did get random EWCM at 2dpo so wondering whether I actually ovulated a bit later than OPKs predicted... but who knows.

I also tried stayed lying down this month after BDing haha as normally I get up after a few minutes. It's medically not supposed to make any difference but it's definitely worth the try!!

Congrats on getting your peak - woo! And sounds like you've hopefully done enough! Really hope this is your month!!!

I got my second Pfizer jab on Thursday so hoping that doesn't do anything to my cycle. My first jab didn't affect it at all, so fingers crossed. I'm actually feeling quite chilled about TTC this month (at the moment) as part of me thinks I'll be worried the jab will have done something if we do conceive this month x

LetsDoTheTango · 25/07/2021 00:32

@Kristinax I'm glad you weren't hit too badly by Covid. I had it back in January and I was off work for three weeks in total, it was pretty grim. I'm double jabbed now though so hopefully I won't have to go through that again! Sorry to hear you're having to self isolate in your TWW - what are you doing to pass the time?!

Thanks again for your kind words Smile it might sound a bit woo but I really do see children in my future, I can't imagine not being a mum, so I'm just focusing on that feeling as much as I can. Visualising really helps me.

My AF symptoms are getting stronger so we'll see whether she arrives next week. I splashed out on a fancy Clearblue digital for next week if I'm late. It's taking all my strength not to do it right now but I know it would be a pointless waste of money Grin

Ahh the ol' 'when are you starting a family' question! I've been on the receiving end of that lately too. I am so conscious of not asking anyone this because A) not everyone wants children and that's totally fine and B) if they do, they might be struggling to conceive. So I only ever talk about it if someone offers up their experiences first. It can (understandably) be a really emotive topic. What do you say to people when they ask? I just say 'yes, hopefully one day!' because we're not sharing it with anyone at the moment.

@taytay2020 thanks for sharing your experiences of the jab, I've not spoken to anyone who has been late as a result but I'm wondering if it's because I had the Astra Zeneca and not the Pfizer? Who knows. It's all such new science so I guess there's still a huge amount they don't know about all of the possible side effects.

I know what you mean about forward planning. My husband and I really want to book a holiday for next year so we have something to look forward to. But by the time it rolls around our family could have increased in size! So we're holding off for a few months and then re-evaluating. What we'd really like to do is climb Mt Snowdon (something we've always wanted to do) but I can't imagine that being too easy either heavily pregnant or with a newborn Grin so perhaps we might opt for something a little less strenuous.

Yes I am hoping I'll calm down a bit too as it's exhausting thinking about TTC all the time. I think I need to get really familiar with my body, which is something I'm only starting to do as a 31 year old woman. I recently read Period Power by Maisie Hill which was ground-breaking, at least for me. Why don't they teach you this in schools?!

I hope you're all having nice weekends. I am so pleased the weather has cooled down a bit. I was not coping very well!

xxx

broodyas · 25/07/2021 11:18

Glad you are doing ok @Lebe14 ! Hope the vaccine doesn't affect things 🤞🏼

How is the 2WW going for you @Kristinax ?

I'm currently CD33, my cycles since I came off the pill in Feb have been anywhere between 31-49 days but we're getting shorter until now (1st 49 days, 2nd 36 days, 3rd 31 days). I had a little bit of cramping this morning, but no AF and boobs feel really sore and swollen but my tummy isn't bloating which is weird for me pre-AF. Also feeling quite nauseous beginning yesterday evening.
I'm holding out to Saturday to test again if AF doesn't arrive before then but trying not to get my hopes up!

xoJellyBean · 25/07/2021 20:46

Hey everyone, how we doing?

@broodyas did you test yesterday??✨

OP posts:
Kristinax · 25/07/2021 20:48

@LetsDoTheTango aw sorry that it hit you so hard! Glad you're well and recovered now, fingers crossed that's the first and last time you get it! I lost taste for 2ish weeks and it was heartbreaking not being able to drown my sorrows in chocolate and wine when AF came (I still did it...I just couldn't taste it haha)
Just binge watching every series under the sun! Luckily my OH works from home so I also go and annoy him to pass the time 🤷‍♀️

Aw, you will make a great mum when it happens for you, I can tell you're bursting with love and when it happens your baby is going to be very lucky! Just keep on going and you'll get that bfp!

Fingers crossed AF doesn't come and you get your bfp! Oh same, I'm saving my digital ones for when I get a positive on a cheapy, I only want them for when I break the news to my OH! Will test on Thursday I think, still feels like a lifetime away!

Yeah it's such a personal thing isn't it, I always think if anyone is struggling and they keep getting this question it could be quite painful. Also 100% agree that some people just don't want kids, it's sad how many people can judge someome for their decision.
We kinda just go "we will as soon as the time is right", I always get worried if I say we don't want kids for a while or anything like that I'll manifest that and it won't happen, way too superstitious!
