@choccrumpet yes and lots to keep me occupied in the meantime as it's nearly gcse result time for my son then college enrolment and my daughter just got her first job so all go here.

And yes last cycle was 51/2 days this one 41 so far 🤷🏼‍♀️
Hopefully it was the vaccine so now most of your nausea is going lol

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/08/2021 08:25

Hello all, how're you? @choccrumpet did you have your scan this week?

@Marvellouslymadmum you've a lot going on at home!

@Slk3558 how're you getting on now? Has nausea stopped?

I was actually sick for the 1st time at about 14 weeks bizarrely, and now feeling better again so hopefully it was just a blip

choccrumpet · 09/08/2021 09:45

@Marvellouslymadmum oh wow that's a lot to keep you busy! Not always a bad thing 😅

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I had it last week, baby was dancing away and measuring the same as my period dates which is odd as I know I ovulated later! So it meant that I went ahead by about half a week, 12+3 today. I'm slowly feeling more normal, nausea is mildly there some days, still struggling to eat home made food but feeling more like myself little by little. Oh no that must not have been pleasant and hopefully a one off! I'm waiting for the same thing honestly, not quite believing that I got away with being sick. How did your scan go?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/08/2021 09:52

@choccrumpet ah wow exciting that's amazing news!! It's a relief to see isn't it. Half a week ahead is nice!

Mine was fine thanks, I was bizarrely measuring a week ahead so they've put me at about 15 weeks now. Did mean it messed up my screening though as I was 14 weeks at my scan and the checks should be done between 11-13 apparently, so I'm getting an nipt this week to double check everything is good.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 weirdly enough I was sick only twice with my daughter but had a lot of nausea whereas with my son I was sick constantly for weeks! So pleased all
Is going well

@choccrumpet that's great about your scan, I'm so loving hearing about all the success stories at the moment, gives me a teeny bit of hope lol

choccrumpet · 09/08/2021 10:54

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I did wonder how you seemed so ahead when you mentioned 14 weeks! It is strange how they date babies but must make sense somewhere.

Yes it was a relief, although I was saying this to my partner, I don't feel very emotional towards the pregnancy yet. I haven't given it much thought and not looked into it yet but I'm just not feeling connected, it doesn't feel real and I feel bad and guilty for thinking and feeling this way. I hope it passes and that it's nothing serious and I'm sure it's normal and maybe a self defence mechanism. But it's harder when people mention how excited they feel for us and inside I don't feel that same excitement, I just feel nothing about it. Could it be a bit of depression? I don't think I am. I think I need to spend a bit of time processing & analysing it to figure it out.

Are you getting the NIPT privately? At least you're able to get it done but must be frustrating to be in this situation. I should get my bloods this week, hopefully all is good there.

@Marvellouslymadmum your time will come ❤️ you need to keep the hope alive! You've done so well this far into it.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/08/2021 11:12

@Marvellouslymadmum your appointment is so soon. Do you have a list of questions? And a list of things you want them to look at and check?

@choccrumpet I feel the same tbh, feels weird family getting excited for us, as I'm not yet. Maybe you and I will be excited at the 20 week scan? Or maybe it's normal? Just doesn't feel real yet and I haven't told a lot of people. Yeah the nipt is private, and my partner thinks I'm bonkers to be getting it as we were low risk for everything and he thinks I'm never happy. But I want to and will pay for it 😂

OP posts:
A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/08/2021 11:14

@choccrumpet also I wouldn't feel guilty about how you feel - it's how you feel and totally valid. Maybe it's self protection, and that's fine also. I guess right about now is when we don't really feel very pregnant- symptoms not so bad, eating more etc but can't feel any movements yet. So it doesn't feel so real

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 09/08/2021 11:25

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 after I sent my message I had a quick google and apparently it is normal / women connect at different points throughout pregnancy or after. I was excited when we were trying but as soon as I got the positive i just didn't feel anything anymore. It's nice to hear you feel similarly, that im not alone. I think my partner is more connected than I am, he said he's surprised I said it the other day as he was expecting to struggle with the connection more than me, because it's happening in my body not his. I have moments of feeling something but it's not always there. But im trying not to put pressure on myself, it does become hard when I talk to others. I think it'll just take time.

One of my friends said to do whatever you need to do to feel better about the pregnancy. So if paying for the NIPT helps you do that then so be it. I'll wait until our results to see what they say, not planning on doing NIPT unless something is flagged up and hopefully it won't be. I mean my partner thought I was crazy for suggesting a private scan between the early one and 12 week one 🤣 (I ended up deciding against it).

I got a bra fitting over the weekend and now own 3 bras that fit me, that was a bit of excitement for me 😂 I only fit 1/2 trousers I own, haven't bothered trying jeans but doubt I'll fit them, so it's either stretchy leggings / joggers / shorts or dresses that fit me, so body is changing but not showing much, if anything.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/08/2021 12:29

@choccrumpet that's good it sounds normal then! Everyone's different I suppose. And yep at least we both feel similarly.

I think yours is the sensible approach! I could buy a travel system for the cost of the nipt but 🤷‍♀️ Well done for the will power on the extra scan also!

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 09/08/2021 12:55

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it's not a comfortable feeling is it, at least for me anyways.

Well we'll see what we actually end up doing. I don't know how I managed to wait but I did 🙈 now an 8 week wait for the next one. Although I'm not bothered about finding out the gender, I was thinking of keeping it a surprise but my partner wants to know so I'll compromise and we can have a surprise for the next one if we have another, so don't mind waiting for that.

Slk3558 · 10/08/2021 12:56

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @choccrumpet Great news about your scans. Glad to hear all going well. Sorry I’ve not posted in a while. I’ve suffered quite bad with vomiting and nausea, im on ondensetron anti sickness med still vomiting now 13 weeks although better than it was . I had a scan at 11 weeks and everything was good. I’ve got my dating scan tomorrow. Still nervous…. Anyone got a little bump yet? I have a little small one lol I know it can’t be food cause I’m not eating that much due to sickness!

@Marvellouslymadmum hope you’re doing well and cycles getting better.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/08/2021 13:08

@Slk3558 oh that sounds horrible, you poor thing. Glad the scan at 11 weeks was good, and good luck for the NHS one!

I'm feeling pretty big, but I think it's because I wear a lot of high waisted or fitted clothes and none of that looks nice anymore or fastens up. I had an nipt scan last night and he saw the gender- it's a boy. I didn't mind either way but my partners really happy.

@choccrumpet will you get a gender scan or wait till 20 weeks?

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 10/08/2021 17:50

@Slk3558 glad to hear you're getting through okay! Good luck for tomorrow's scan and hopefully your symptoms start settling soon. I've been bloated since day dot, the bloating is so bad I can only just about fit into 2 pairs of trousers, never mind jeans. So there is something there but not quite sure what is bloat, my stomach or baby. It definitely sticks out more so bump must be in there somewhere just not much shape to it. I might have a lopsided bump anyways because of my uterus. I have bought some maternity leggings and pjs.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 aww that's lovely, either way it would be. I bet he is, mine would love a boy too but we'll have to wait and see. How were your NIPT results? Unless we end up having a last minute scan before 20 weeks I think I'll wait, I'm really not fussed and haven't decided if we want to do anything to share the gender with our families yet so don't mind the wait.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/08/2021 18:09

@choccrumpet full results come back in a week I think, but all of the anomaly markers and measurements and organs came back fine. It was super detailed actually, I wasn't expecting it to be

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 10/08/2021 19:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's great, hopefully nothing surprising next week. I'm still waiting for my nhs ones

Slk3558 · 11/08/2021 10:19

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 congratulations on finding out it’s a boy!

@choccrumpet I’m also bloated and have suffered with chronic constipation since about 7 weeks.

I’m getting there I haven’t vomiting in about 3 days but still have no appetite. I really miss enjoying food! I’ll let you know how my scan goes. They asked me about the nuchal test thing but I don’t know if I could handle the anxiety if anything comes back with higher odds. I know myself and I know I’d spend my days feeling anxious about it rather than enjoying the pregnancy ..so I’m thinking about not having it. Is that selfish ?

choccrumpet · 11/08/2021 10:51

@Slk3558 I think you should do whatever is right for you, I'd rather know so that's what I'm doing, there's no right or wrong. I don't think it's selfish at all, you'll find out when baby is here either way including about anything else that can't be picked up, but that applies to everyone!

Fingers crossed the vomiting stays away. I'm just about starting to be able to eat more food and starting to somewhat enjoy it again. I really struggled not liking food as well, eating was such a chore. I still have bad days but I feel like it's finally getting better at 12+5. I've cooked dinner past 2 nights and eaten it all and kind of liked it 🤣

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2021 10:58

@Slk3558 echoing what @choccrumpet said, there's no right or wrong, and loads of people don't take the nhs screening- I think something like a quarter to a third don't. Do what's right for you and what'll make you have a happier pregnancy.

Glad the vomiting is stopping, and hope your appetite comes back soon too. So much nicer to be actually fancying and enjoying food.

Good luck for today, and let us know how it goes!

choccrumpet · 11/08/2021 13:35

My combined screening has come out with high risk for Down's syndrome so will be going ahead with NIPT after all 😞 thankfully my hospital is providing it so we won't have to pay.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2021 14:14

@choccrumpet oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. When are they doing the NIPT?

Something I read a lot about was the actual percentage odds are a lot better than the screening of one in XXX implies. So even if it was a one in ten chance for example, that's still 90% likelihood of all being okay. The antenatal test boards on here were really useful.

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 11/08/2021 14:51

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 going tomorrow although thinking should have asked if I can come in today! results should be here next week. Yeah the 1 in something makes it seem worse than it might be, I think mine are something like 99% not likely to have it but still worrying to be given a higher chance for some reason. And first time going through this, it's all new and a bit scary. I'll have a look at those boards, have read a few threads and they have made me feel less anxious about it. Hoping the results give a better indication without the need for further testing, I've heard they're more accurate so really hoping that will be the case.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2021 15:47

@choccrumpet 99% chances of all being okay is great odds also. Good luck tomorrow lovely. This whole process is so stressful.

It might be something just about your blood tests also. Mine was low Papp A and apparently being mixed race

OP posts:
choccrumpet · 11/08/2021 16:51

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you ❤️ I will ask for a breakdown as the midwife didn't say. Feeling a bit better after the initial shock but would still rather know.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/08/2021 18:30

@choccrumpet So glad they've not got you waiting around for nipt and managed to fit you in straight away. Yes talk to them tomorrow, because one tiny thing can throw the nhs screening out, it's not very accurate and returns a lot of false positives apparently.

Try and get some rest tonight and do something to take your mind off it xxx
