@thislittlebird yes low LH/FSH is good and see why they have ruled PCOS out. thats an amazing AMH/AFC, my AMH was only 15.5!!

just realised we have spoken on another thread, glad you have changed GP. i'm so so sorry to hear how its affecting you have been there and wish the care we receive under fertility would change.
could speak with new GP about how its all affecting you?

totally understand why you have gone private. i've read good things about lister and have everything crossed for you xx

got2be · 25/05/2021 15:48

@thislittlebird no i cancelled as the private appointment was with the same gyne i was seeing thorough NHS.
DH said he was not happy paying the same person £300 for a consultation, when through the NHS he had not helped.
why were going to raj rai.

but i think cancelling annoyed him so he discharged me from NHS saying nothing more he could do lol

thislittlebird · 25/05/2021 15:52

@ElsieG3m I’m going to ask about it while we try anyway. See who will let me have it. I’m very panicked by age tbh, mostly because I have no idea how many attempts at ivf this might take so I’m keen to get going. Oh and my mother had an early ish menopause which is another thing no one cares about when I tell them.

I’ve temped in the past for the odd month but I find it too stressful and don’t really think it helps. Different if I’d had no tests but I get a slight rise usually and that’s as much as I need to know. It’s been so long now that I probably don’t need to bother but I do use clear blue ovulation tests and I get an LH rise of some kind that it picks up. So yeah, I think I’m likely ovulating but my progesterone is an issue still.

VixFromThe6ix · 25/05/2021 15:55
@VixFromThe6ix i don't feel like they care unless it involves money which is horrible, i had my nhs gyne tell me there was nothing he could do but then suggested i pay him privately and he could help lol

i'm CD3 and really positive yet really doubtful. ttc is a total head f
That's actually ridiculous!! Wow. I would like report that doctor. Is that legal????
Canada has free medical, and while it's awesome, it's got its own downfalls like the lack of care. In the US cause medical is paid, they tend to try to get to the bottom of the issue, in Canada they just advise you to have some Advil if you're in pain 😂😂😂
I know several people who have stage 3 or 4 cancer and it was not diagnosed till they went for second opinion or private.
And I agree, ttc is a head f. I swear it's the reason for my greys!!
Please stay positive 😊 I cant wait to see your BFP.

VixFromThe6ix · 25/05/2021 15:56

We need a thread just for our experiences with doctors and clinic while ttc!!!! Feels like no one had a strictly positive experience.

got2be · 25/05/2021 16:05

@VixFromThe6ix wow thats really socking!!

thinking about it now i don't think it is legal but then i was in a really bad headspace after MC as was 1st BFP in 10 years so i would of sold my house. lol

i do sometimes wonder if we didn't have NHS and everyone had to pay that it would be so different but then it leaves people with lower incomes out. you just can't win

i'm better now and still have faith i'll get the BFP again just like others have said age really does not help.
but im armed with progesterone lol so trying to stay positive xx

AnxiousWannabe · 25/05/2021 16:11

I got my blood test result and apparently my prolactin is slightly elevated. Has anyone dealt with this before ?

got2be · 25/05/2021 16:13

@VixFromThe6ix i agree with the experience thread. i use to think i was being singled out as i have children but since joining mn, made me see that ladies who don't go through the same even worse and the struggle some go through just to get past a gp its utterly heartbreaking.

VixFromThe6ix · 25/05/2021 16:13

@got2be if your issue was same as mine, then it should really help. Just remember that some women get their periods while still taking progesterone and some (like me) done, so you gotta stop taking it (after getting bfn) and it takes 3 days to come.
Oh and don't drink water late. You shouldn't pee during the night while progesterone is dissolving just in case it comes out

thislittlebird · 25/05/2021 16:14

Oh, how did that happen? After his private suggestion? He sounds a nuisance. I think complaining annoyed the gynaecologist I saw.

@AnxiousWannabe

Me! Taking bromocriptine for it now. I tested a week ago and I'm back to normal but they advised me to stay on it till successful ultrasound. Depending on how high you are, I didn't require an MRI as it's not dangerously high for me, but some women do MRI to make sure there is no tumor.

I also thought it's a Canada thing to make you feel all lonely during this process but it's not. Seema like it's everywhere. Really, really sad. I wanna give every woman a hug.

Sorry I’m on a long conference call and keep replying to everything separately.

The last gynaecologist I saw (who thinks we’re unexplained) said it was excellent AMH, and I’m really hoping it helps my chances of ivf working. But it won’t help conceive naturally unless the other issues improve 😔

Yeah we’ve spoken either here or elsewhere. I’m going to request anxiety meds too, I need all the help I can get right now but setting up with new GP takes some time.

The reason I went with Lister was a) this consultant sounds good b) they work with the urologist we’re seeing tomorrow and b) they offer mild ivf options as well. Because of the high AMH I want to talk to someone who understands I’m concerned by OHSS and according to her reviews she’s good with this stuff and doesn’t just throw the highest doses at people.

thislittlebird · 25/05/2021 16:22

At least I’m unlikely to conceive since it’s been 18 months and we have male factor as well.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 25/05/2021 16:24

Thanks @ElsieG3m I think its actually being on here and hearing people say 37 etc was too late for them and they missed out - I wasn't really anxious before I don't think but now anxiety is just going up and up and up. So hearing that its not dire for any of us, until probably later 40's, is comforting.

AnxiousWannabe · 25/05/2021 16:29

@VixFromThe6ix did they ask you to repeat your blood test before they give you medication?

VixFromThe6ix · 25/05/2021 16:32
@VixFromThe6ix did they ask you to repeat your blood test before they give you medication?
I took another blood test before I started with the medication to confirm its elevated.

AnxiousWannabe · 25/05/2021 16:36

The doctor said my level is slightly elevated- not extreme and wanted me to repeat a blood test in my next cycle.

I may be panicking but at 39...every cycle counts ! Sigh

AnxiousWannabe · 25/05/2021 16:36

@VixFromThe6ix thankss!

VixFromThe6ix · 25/05/2021 16:46

@AnxiousWannabe I know. But did they say stop trying??? Mine said, keep trying. Yes women with multiple miscarriages have been known to have elevated prolactin levels but it's not proven that's what the reason for infertility or miscarriage was. So we kept trying. Now with my positive test they kept me on the medicine, even though originally they told me to stop it as soon as I got a positive.

Noodella18 · 25/05/2021 16:54

@got2be sorry don't know how to quote but just re the NHS doctor saying he couldn't help and then saying you could pay for him privately - as shocking as that sounds, it's actually a sign of how stretched the NHS is, rather than him being on the make. Some fertility investigations and treatments are super expensive and for that reason cannot be provided by the NHS. I was chatting to my partner about it last night (he's a gp) and he said that fertility is a total can of worms and actually their hands are tied much of the time and they're simply not allowed to offer some options, meaning that it's the biggest area for private practice.

Noodella18 · 25/05/2021 16:56

@thislittlebird what did the doctor make of your results? Did they give a diagnosis?

thislittlebird · 25/05/2021 17:00

@Noodella18 my progesterone results? If that’s what you mean they completely ignored it at the hospital, but my old GP was concerned (also a gynae). They all seem happy with my AMH, so much so they think I don’t need help 😐.

Seeing one urologist tomorrow and one gynaecologist (lister) next week, both private, so I’m going to ask them about odds of conception in their opinion based on both of our problems.

Or do you mean my skin? Sorry I’ve seen so many doctors lately but haven’t seen any all at once lol

got2be · 25/05/2021 17:03

@VixFromThe6ix thanks for the progesterone advice. i've taken the mini pill before and had no periods so i'm thinking i'll be one of the ones that don't bleed. At least i now have a reason to POAS early lol

crazy thought, right now but were you on the pill/ mini pill before having trouble ttc?
as i never was, but only after my last child did i start it and have had problems ever since.
which makes me think does taking pill cause levels to drop after as your body becomes use to it?

@thislittlebird i didn't realise there was a male factor i must have missed that, you should never have been told your unexplained with the ttc issues you have raised. i believe with your AMH IVF will work but fingers crossed they can suggest something less invasive xx

thislittlebird · 25/05/2021 17:18

@got2be this is why I’ve complained. I don’t understand how we can be called unexplained. There seems to be two explanations!

I think we’re heading for ivf either way now, but at least I still have less invasive options for the future (or to try for a couple of months before ivf).
