I hope this name is okay. It's late and nobody is volunteering so it'll have to do 😂

Starting yet another thread on self insemination before our other one kicks us out!

Welcome to THE most supportive group you could wish for if you’re starting or you are already on a self insemination journey.
Remember, nothing is TMI and you are not alone. 💖

@primrosechill I’m so sorry af got you. So cruel that this was the month that gave you that long cycle and squinter too 😥😥. But I’m so hopeful that ivf is going to be a game changer for you and you are going to get your rainbow 🌈 ❤️💜🧡💛💚. Sending lots of love.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 07/04/2021 21:54

@primrosechill I’m ever so sorry your period came. That’s very cruel after it being a longer than normal cycle and a squinter 😔 Sending hugs and love. Cry, rant, write down what you’re feeling on the notes on your phone, just let it all out and feel how you need to feel.
You will pick yourself up on whichever day your mind and body feel ready, don’t worry if it’s not tomorrow. Day 1 of ivf doesn’t have to be perfect, but what’s amazing is despite this now, you’re going to dust yourself off and do it.
You and your body are amazing, this could be the start of something magical 💚😚✨

@Janefx40 thank you for such lovely, kind and uplifting words about your journey and your friends re ivf. I actually smiled reading it, thank you ever so much and I’m sure it’ll help primrose too ☺️💖 Xx

Sydney1986x · 07/04/2021 22:05

I’m so sorry AF showed for you @primrosechill breaks my heart 😢. Let all the tears out, it’s understandable to feel upset especially with being too days late. Good luck with first day of injections tomorrow 💛 sending lots of love to you and big hugs!

Carol1980 · 07/04/2021 22:58

@Janefx40
Thanks for the info x

I've read that there was a study done and women were given progesterone approx 2 days after ovulation so I'm wondering whether to start it then.
Basically from what I've read it's very much a use it until you get to 14dpo if you get a negative test then stop using it for your AF to start and then start again in the same format as before x
Also read that if you get pregnant it's best to continue to use it until at least 8/12 weeks along 🤷‍♀️ it won't do me any harm physically so worth a try really especially since last cycle I seem to have fertilised and then implanted but implantation didn't take ? X

Makingnumber2 · 08/04/2021 07:13

Hope you had a good cry and got a good sleep in @primrosechill
Thinking of you today and sending lots of love as you begin your new chapter Daffodil xx

AdriannaP · 08/04/2021 09:04

@Carol1980 I think the study was done with progesterone pessaries that go inside your body. I am not sure the cream will have the same effect. You can ask your GP to prescribe you progesterone. Won’t hurt trying.
I had to take it from ovulation day until BFN or now until 16 weeks pregnant.

Carol1980 · 08/04/2021 09:28

@AdriannaP morning x hope you are well today x

Yeah going to try the cream this time round and see where we are, I've still to approach my doctors about issues that I'm having, given the current covid situation, we've had messages from our doctors saying that they are busy and not to call unless it's absolutely necessary to see the doctors.
The reception staff at my surgery are unbelievably rude all the time. Any time you call up they act like your bothering them. Zero social skills !
I'm actually thinking about swapping surgeries as it's just such a bad experience every time you call up!
Probably sounds over dramatic, and I'm honestly not that type of person, but I can pretty much guarantee the reaction that I will get if I call up asking for some help with fertility when I'm 40 already would be in the negative ! And I just can't be arsed with dealing with total arse's right now 🤣🤣

mummysharkk · 08/04/2021 14:33

Hi ladies, thank you for the welcomes 😊
You all sound so lovely.

Just catching up,
@primrosechill sending huge hugs.

@Carol1980 I would definitely change your Drs! Why do so many gp receptionists think they sit on golden thrones 🙄 we had this issue at our previous drs and I'm so glad we changed. When a baby my dc was poorly with a temperature and paracetamol hadn't brought it down at all, I was calling them through the day and the receptionists were basically saying I was ott (couldn't give ibuprofen as there was a possibility of chicken pox). Anyway in the end I turned up with baby insisting we were seen (receptionists still said, look she's fine / nothing wrong she's smiling!) and guess what, we were told to go immediately to hospital by the Dr who didn't know we were being turned away.
Thankfully dc was ok but it's taught me to follow my gut and change something that's not right (where possible) lol!

@Oilyoilyoilgob hope tensions ease for you, it's so difficult when you both want something so much to argue. DH and I have had the arguments where we have both blamed the others fertility which is so bad and so unsupportive- it gets to us all so much.

You are all in full swing of your own journeys and I feel slightly ignorant to not knowing much about most of you... if you are able to add a couple of lines about yourselves / your journey that would be great (please!).
I have looked back and it's confusing as there are names that pop up, say lots then aren't on here now! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for the previous advice, I watched a YouTube video and it was so helpful! I'm currently due to ovulate so it's a bit late to order the stock of what I need but will be ready next month!
So this is a lovely chilled month of being switched off to the emotions of ttc!

MrsKin90 · 08/04/2021 18:02

@Oilyoilyoilgob you definitely didn't make your OH sound like a monster, just a bit of a meanie pants! But I think TTC can turn us all into a BIT of a monster at times, you'd have to be made of marble to get away without getting a bit tense (aka completely nuts). As long as you're okay and working your way through it together ❤️ I actually think it's good for you both spiritually to get those feelings out in the air, holding onto those things internally can't be good for us can they?

@Carol1980 I think your doctor surgery sounds awful. Our receptionists have been strangely lovely lately. Can you do an online e-consult at your surgery? That's how I approached going to the doctor. You have the right to that support and you deserve it, screw what the receptionists might thing, it's up to the doctor and it IS worth their time. If they're too busy they need to sort their shit out because everyone else's doctors seem to be getting on with life? Hope the progesterone cream helps and if nothing else it'll make you feel like you're doing all you can which is good us mentally I think!

primrosechill I actually couldn't reply at first because I was heartbroken for you. Stupid pregnancy tests and stupid bodies. Stupid life getting your hopes up just to let you down. I hope you're doing okay today and ready to plough through IVF like a boss, you can do it! 💪🙏

@mummysharkk it's almost impossible to keep up with this thread at times, which is lovely in itself I think so I'd say don't worry about feeling a bit lost 😂 glad you found a YouTube video that's helpful! 😊 And hooray for a month of serenity for you whilst you await stock 😏
I've been trying for 18months-ish (aka, a bazillion years) but have PCOS and long cycles and a luteal phase length that's all over the place. I am notorious for posting loads and then dropping off like I was never here. Trying for our first and hubby can't ejaculate from sex. I'm 9dpo today.

I got my ultrasound results back today. Anyone know what they meant by "ovary volume"? Left ovary is 17 and right ovary is 9? ("All fine" apparently). may as well be 500 as I've no idea what that means and I didn't ASK because I'm silly. Hubby did his sperm analysis today so we await results next week... and my period next week too. Could be a great week! Or it could be totally shit 😂 prepare yourselves for my meltdown.

Hope everyone is okay, and eggs pop out for people when they're ready for them, and those swimmers make it where they need to be 🤞❤️

@MrsKin90 thank you for your kind inspiring words xx

Unbelievable I've got a flashing smiley already on my opk !!
Check and it was the same CD8 last month and a few months back so think we will start with firsr SI tonight.....hubby will get the news when he gets home 🤣🤣

Carol1980 · 08/04/2021 18:05

@MrsKin90 I have no idea what the numbers mean either but really glad it has come back with no issue xx

Bizawit · 08/04/2021 18:46

@MrsKin90 I presume those numbers are your Antral follicle count (AFC). If so that means you have a total count of 26, which is very good. It’s a measure of your ovarian reserve . The other number to watch is the AMH which will be a blood test - that also provides an indication of how many eggs you have left x

AdriannaP · 08/04/2021 18:55

@Carol1980 your GP sounds awful. So rude! Sorry to hear that they are so unhelpful.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 08/04/2021 21:57

@mummysharkk yes it’s definitely so easy to ‘blame’ someone or something in this journey isn’t it? I’ve said on here for so long, that especially women are told ‘careful if you slip up, you’ll get pregnant’ when actually it’s like, nope! No that definitely doesn’t just happen so easily for lots of us! I do believe you get syringes with certain kids medicine, that might be worth looking into tomorrow to try and get a cheeky SI session in 😃
We have been trying for around 15 months but since last September has been our ‘proper’ trying with opks, SI kits etc. Husband had probs with ED and ejaculation which we are working through at psychosexual/relationship therapy (which has been amazing for us). Got pregnant in Sept but had an early miscarriage. Trying for our first baby.
Don’t worry about getting lost in the thread, there’s lots of us posting 😊

@MrsKin90 I’m laughing at meanie pants, more me than him though at pmt time 😂😈 no it sounds mean but he is right, biologically coming up to 40 I’m moving into a bit of an egg/ovarian danger zone!
He knows he has to get me into action because quite honestly, I would probably SI for many more months and be a scaredy cat but we just can’t afford to wait. A couple of years younger and I would no probs!

That’s fantastic news it’s all fine, really great to hear and I’m sure it’s a relief ☺️ Don’t worry about not asking there and then and give them a call back. I’m sure they’ll be used to that happening and happy to chat about your results. Maybe write your questions down ready?
I hope the sperm analysis and your period are all good next week too, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻✨ xx

Carol1980 · 08/04/2021 23:25

Well fist SI done foe this cycle !
Used the fertility check lubrication too.

Check my cervix and it's super high and soft which is great.

So this month I put in the fertility check stuff about 10/15 mins before SI, did my usual 10/15 mins wait with the tub between my legs to keep it warm and used the kiddie syringe.
Probably going to continue with this for the next few days then it back to waiting again to see if it's successful. Only other change this month will be the progesterone cream which I will take after ovulation up until 14dpo ( unless we get a BFP on which case I will continue to take it)

Anyone else at this stage ? X

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 13:10

Hi everyone, sorry for my absence. I haven't caught up with everyone on here yet but I can see some BFPs! And lots of persevering - good on you, girls!

Juts to update everyone:
First SI in Jan. Resulted in a BFP at 7DPO. So very early. It sent me crazy with anxiety. The following day I got a BFN. So don't know if it was a chemical or a false positive.

Feb we SI again. This time I had no symptoms afterwards in the lead up to AF and she came right on time.

March we SI just twice. IVF (actually it'll be ICSI) is getting ever closer and I am feeling the trauma of having to go through all that. But I tend not to think too much about it in the TWW as there is that hope we won't need to go through all that.
March turned out to be busy, My business suddenly did really well (it's seasonal) and I didn't have much time to think about things in the few days after SI.
I didn't take an hCG test early as I planned to wait. However yesterday I had to go to the dentist and was worried they'd ask for an x ray. Because of this i thought I had better take a test even though I was only 10dpo. It was a BFP. This morning still a BFP.
I don't think i feel too anxious at the moment as it's such early days. But I am encouraged. I am 41 and despite the negativity of the fertility clinic I have managed to conceive, albeit with SI.

In terms of symptoms. Pretty much straight away I've felt pulling that has got more intense. I think implantation was Day 8 and i certainly felt pain there. Boobs are sore but don't feel bigger.
I need to wee constantly though. In fact I thought i might have a UTI as I feel so uncomfortable and in need of the loo but the dr said the sample looked clear so I guess it's just a symptom.

That's it really. Just keeping an eye on things and trying not to tell everyone I meet in the street - I have a habit of over sharing!!

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 13:11

ps despite the symptoms I don't feel pregnant!

Lori23TTC · 09/04/2021 13:34

@mummysharkk just a little bit about my journey - hubby has developed performance anxiety since ttc so we are SI. We are on our 20th month but going to fertility clinic next month to talk about ivf if not successful this month. It’s been a looooooong 20 months and I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone! I really hope you get into the swing of things with SI it is great as it gives us all a chance which we wouldn’t have had in our situations. We are trying for our first... hoping for twins 🤣 don’t ever want to ttc again!! I’m currently CD11 so waiting for my egg to pop and trying to keep anxious feelings down! This chat has been so helpful to me and have made a really good fiend in one of the ladies ❤️

@Remembermee congratulations that’s amazing!! Makes me confident that SI works! On the 2 times you SI did you use a syringe or soft disc? I have personally tried both on numerous cycles and can’t decide what method will before successful 🤪 xxx

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 14:02

@Lori23TTC we have only ever used the syringe method... we chose one with a wide bottom rather than a narrower opening.
I heard after my first attempt that you're supposed to wait 10 mins before SI so I'd hold it in my knees and use conceive plus gel - i'd just put a blob on my finger and insert it inside and feel around a bit up there. Then I'd get bored and so SI.
This time I did try and put my legs up but to be perfectly honest i'm such a fidgeter that I couldn't do it for very long at all.

I've never tried the soft disc - it never really appealed. A gentle push on the syringe always felt easier and more controllable to me. I would also try to orgasm too but in March I only managed that the once.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 09/04/2021 19:29

@Lori23TTC that’s made me chuckle about the twins 😂 I’m wishing you the very very best of luck for this month, and good big pop of a good big egg!
Big hugs for the ivf journey (if needed) we’re at that stage too and I’m calling them on Monday (ours shuts at 4pm and went to ring them at 4.30 today 😏) so a few of us will be able to offer hand holds to each other 💚

@Remembermee a huge congratulations! That’s absolutely fantastic news and so good that you did the test before dentist! Hoping everything goes well and smoothly ☺️ Xx

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 19:40

Thank you @Oilyoilyoilgob!

I forgot another symptom I have been getting for the last week. I keep feeling quite cold. A weird one that I guess.

Anyway for those that like to look at hcg tests here are mine.
First at 10dpo
Second 11 dpo

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 19:41

Sorry I’ll try again.
1st 10dpo
2nd 11dpo

Both with FMU

Carol1980 · 09/04/2021 19:56

@Remembermee
Both tests looks really really promising !
Excellent news x congrats x

I would try and hold off testing until day after tomorrow and compare the lines or I would get a digital weeks ones x

Remembermee · 09/04/2021 20:02

@Carol1980 oh I thought it best to test each day so that if ends in a chemical I have some idea and can prepare myself.
Got a digi one coming from Amazon. Was supposed to come today but now it’s not coming until tomorrow which I can’t test until Sunday with FMU.

Sydney1986x · 09/04/2021 21:48

Congratulations @Remembermee another BFP and SI graduate 😘 wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy x
