I hope this name is okay. It's late and nobody is volunteering so it'll have to do 😂

Starting yet another thread on self insemination before our other one kicks us out!

Welcome to THE most supportive group you could wish for if you’re starting or you are already on a self insemination journey.
Remember, nothing is TMI and you are not alone. 💖

Hi @RosieDay86 welcome. There are quite a few women on here with vaginismus so lots of people who share similar experiences.

We've had quite a few successes on here so the method definitely works. There are also a few of us who have done/are about to start IVF if you ever do decide to take that step.

@primrosechill definitely stay on the thread. We all want to support you for as long as you'll have us. When is the 6 week scan?

@Oilyoilyoilgob glad you chose a less stressful sperm test appointment. Glad you are feeling better about the IVF too although it is normal to have wobbles so don't worry if you have more (especially when you are about to start).

@Makingnumber2 good luck tomorrow. I got my days muddled up and logged in to see how you got on today!! Fingers and everything else crossed.

Love to everyone xxx

Makingnumber2 · 06/05/2021 06:19

Welcome @RosieDay86 this is honestly the most lovely and supportive group you could ever hope to find. Wishing you lots of luck with your SI journey!

@Oilyoilyoilgob so pleased to hear you’re feeling like a weight has been lifted and that your clinic are guiding and supporting you through everything. Thorough Sperm MOT sounds great- I hope the results come back tip top! Your comment about making DH be SAS ant Middleton to shout you up the hills made me chuckle! Well done you for keeping on with the exercise- it will all be paying off.

@MrsKin90 I hope this egg isn’t going to keep you waiting much longer- thinking of you.

Ahh thank you @Janefx40 that’s very sweet of you and yes it’s today, this afternoon. I’ve got a job interview this morning so that will keep my mind off it hopefully!! Will update after my appointment- not sure if I’ll get blood results back same day like last time or will have to wait

Oilyoilyoilgob · 06/05/2021 09:07

@Janefx40 thank you, you are such a lovely guide on this journey. It’s really appreciated 😊

@Makingnumber2 aw thank you! Wishing a big fat double good luck for today for you, keeping fingers crossed and sending love 💚

suzy124 · 06/05/2021 13:43

Hi @RosieDay86 welcome! I've only been on here a short time but it's so good knowing we're not alone in this journey. I'm still coming to terms with the fact that we can't conceive in the "traditional way", so I'm just praying that SI works. It's good that you sound really positive about it, everything crossed that AF stays away for you! With your cycles what day do you normally ovulate on? I think as long as your luteal phase is a good length there's nothing to worry about. Have you mentioned it to GP?

@Meg5500 I know it's hard but try not to freak out about ovulation just yet, it will happen. My cycles are around 29 days and although ovulation varies, more often than not it's been cd 15-16. Really hope this cycle is shorter for you than last, but of course that AF doesn't come at all!

@Oilyoilyoilgob good luck with the sperm MOT and @Makingnumber2 good luck with the bloods (and interview!)

@MrsKin90 hope you're doing ok. Any sign of ovulation yet?

Makingnumber2 · 06/05/2021 18:33

Evening everyone- hope everyone is ok. Had my scan- no bloods done. I have officially been discharged from EPU because they saw a gestational sac in uterus with a yolk sac and said it measured around 5 weeks. I had dated myself as 5w3d max so that is reassuring our dates seem to be marrying up. I've booked a private scan for end of the month when I'll be 8.5 weeks (by hospital's dates) and it feels like forever to wait. The sonographer said sometimes the EPU offer reassurance scans so it's worth an ask but I shouldn't imagine they will actually agree to one. Not sure if I'll bother trying to push for one- feel a bit bad to when I can afford to pay the £45 for the private one.
So, just got to keep my fingers crossed and get through the next 3.5 weeks!

Janefx40 · 06/05/2021 19:23

@Makingnumber2 yay! So pleased for you. That is really reassuring. It will seem like a long wait but at least you now know you are off to a great start. You could book a scan sooner but I'm not sure that really helps. You'll just worry again as soon as it's over. Sounds good to wait a bit if you can bear it !

Well done on the job interview too. Big day for you today.

Xxx

Meg5500 · 06/05/2021 19:41

@Makingnumber2 that’s great news!! So pleased!

The wait will be agonising but just keep reminding yourself that everything is ok and looking good at this point and no reason to think otherwise!

Sorry if I’ve asked this already but what did you do this time to get your BFP? Syringe only...soft cups? Always interested to know!

Oilyoilyoilgob · 07/05/2021 12:01

@Makingnumber2 that’s wonderful news! I’m so pleased the dates marry up and everything is as it’s meant to be at this time 😊

Easy for me to say but I’d try hold out until your next scan, like @Janefx40 said if you had one in between it might worry as soon as it’s over! I hope you have an absolutely lovely, relaxed 3 weeks and spoil and look after yourself 💚

Husband has pushed his sperm test at the clinic back by a week, due to timings of my next ovulation we might as well have another ttc go for the sake of a week. I started my period last night, not a shock due to feeling cramps from Tuesday but disappointing nonetheless.

Roll on next ttc round this month!

Hope everyone is ok, we currently have the most gorgeous sun out so I’m going to get some gardening done before the next downpour ☺️ Xx

Janefx40 · 07/05/2021 13:42

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry about your period coming. It's always a disappointment even when we know in our hearts we're not pregnant.

Sounds sensible to wait another cycle and give it another go. I should do gardening but I want to do sitting on the sofa!!

MrsKin90 · 07/05/2021 19:20

Welcome to our new lovelies 🥰 I don't think it's worth getting wound up or worrying about using a cup or not, just do what works for you as it's all been proven to make it happen.

@Makingnumber2 that's amazing! ❤️ Congratulations!!

@Oilyoilyoilgob that sounds like a very level headed plan to push back the sperm analysis date. I'm sorry your period turned up! Still time for that miracle bfp before things properly get exciting in the fertility department 🥰 either way a win!!

@Janefx40 how are you doing? Everyone needs a bit of sitting on the sofa!!

I'm CD25 and no egg 🤷 thinking maybe I'll not ovulate this cycle. That's just perfect on top of everything else 😂 I'll have to have an eggcellent celebration when it finally gets here, if it even does. As there's almost no hope that it's going to happen "naturally" for us I'm struggling to figure out how much I can be bothered to care and how long we should SI for this cycle.

Got my GP appointment a week today to discuss next steps and my hubby's uncooperative sperm. Pray for a miracle because I'm expecting a curt "come back when you're slimmer"!.

@MrsKin90 are you using opks ?

Am CD11 and waiting for the peak indicator on Clear Blue.

primrosechill · 08/05/2021 13:29

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good start to their weekends - it's slightly wet and windy where I am so I have been using this as a perfect excuse to just kick back, start the day with breakfast in bed and burry my nose in books and films :)

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry to hear that AF showed up - I know it always sucks even when you feel it coming and even when you know what your next steps are. Just focus on things ahead and I know it will all eventually work itself out.

@MrsKin90 wow, your ovaries are really not in a collaborating mood this cycle, are they? Sorry to hear you're stuck in the opk limbo. Go on, eggos, just get out already!

I know there are also a couple of newbies on here, hello 👋🏼 and good luck! Finggers 🤞🏼

I'm 4+6 today, cheapies getting darker and tiredness really kicking in. I'm still very scared but made my debut on the "graduate" thread after thinking that whatever happens this lil bean is here now and I need to stay positive that they will make themselves comfortable for a long time. Thinking about all of you often and what a great support this group has been - I will still continue to check in on here for a while but also don't want to dominate the group for the ones who are ttc-ing. Just wanted to say thank you for all the support and can't wait to see more good news on here soon!! xx

Oilyoilyoilgob · 09/05/2021 15:58

@MrsKin90 I hope your ovulation shows soon, understandable about your thoughts about SI and feeling a bit meh. The great thing is if you choose to still do it, you’re allowed to feel a bit ‘meh’ about it and in a way it might hopefully take some pressure off you both. Just doing it as a little portion of your day if you see what I mean?
I’ve taken that approach when I’ve felt fed up about SI!
Wishing you lots of luck with your GP appointment, if they mention your weight then ask if there’s anything they can do to help and also perhaps check if they’d do an early referral maybe after say 3 months to give you a chance to get the ball rolling 😊

@primrosechill I’m delighted to hear your sticks are getting darker, great news! Hope you’ve had a lovely relaxed weekend 💚

@Janefx40 hope you’re well, yep a bit crap my period arrived but for the first time in a while I’m ok. Had a few tears that it didn’t happen for us this month but that’s it. The ball is rolling with ivf now so what will be will be over the next year or so I guess!

Well the weather here today has been really gorgeous so we did a huge walk, stopped for a tea on the final stretch and I’ve had a healthy, relaxed weekend and a massage on Friday. Just taking some steps to be nice to my mind and body. Hope everyone is also doing the same in whichever way is good for you 💚 xx

Janefx40 · 09/05/2021 19:57

Hi @Oilyoilyoilgob glad you are feeling good today. Yes it was gorgeous today (now just started raining).

I was a bit naughty today. I got my usual menstrual migraine but it's only 8dpo. Migraine I think is caused by my progesterone levels dropping before my period. I would usually get it at 10dpo. So I was worried wasn't a long enough luteal phase for an embryo to implant so I took a cyclogest (progesterone pessary) that I had left over from a previous IVF cycle. I've never done anything like that before so bit crazy but now not sure whether to keep taking it or just stop. I only have 4 left so can't take it for long anyway!!!

@primrosechill definitely check in. I understand that sometimes people who are TTC can struggle with people being pregnant so it is very thoughtful of you but I personally quite like to hear from people who have had success too. The FB group from our IVF clinic has a rule that you can't post any positive pregnancy tests or anything beyond the 2WW. I totally get it but it does sometimes feel like everyone is just failing all the time! But I appreciate everyone feels differently so respect your decision and will look forward to seeing you whenever you stop by.

@MrsKin90 @birdbybird any luck with ovulation yet?

How are you @Meg5500 @suzy124 @RosieDay86 ?

Love to everyone else xxx

Meg5500 · 10/05/2021 07:59

Hi everyone!

Just catching up!

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry to hear AF turned up but yes I always take that as a cue to be extra kind to myself! Usually involves some fizz!

@MrsKin90 ah waiting for that egg is so frustrating! I was having 60 day cycles last year and then they went down to 35 - I’ve actually just been put on clomid to try and shorten the window - last month it lengthened the cycle but this month it’s reduced it by 5 days I think! Might be an option for you??

@primrosechill ah bless you for being so thoughtful! But I agree with other comments and like to hear success stories so I’d love you to keep us posted! So happy that everything is going well so far!

@Janefx40 hi lovely! I’m good, think I am ovulating around about now so I am busting getting as much SI as I can! I went for a scan last week and it showed that the new dose of clomid had ready worked and there were two very large dominant follicles ready to release an egg! So fingers crossed it’s our month!

I have no experience with the cyclogest so can’t comment but maybe you could check with your fertility docs?? Although I know you might not want to admit you have been naughty! Fingers crossed for you for this cycle - was this an iVF cycle? When will you know if it’s worked? Xxx

birdbybird · 10/05/2021 09:55

@Janefx40 finally got a solid smile today after 4 flashing smiles on the clear blue.
So fingers crossed now that I actually ovulate.

Regarding the progesterone, could you take the remaining ones, and then do a pregnancy test at DPO 13 and, get it subscribed again if it’s a BFP?

Janefx40 · 11/05/2021 22:04

@birdbybird @Meg5500 hope your SI is going well.

I'm feeling utterly depressed. Have period cramps. I know it's almost impossible for us to conceive naturally but I still let myself hope for a miracle. I had cramping quite early this month and convinced myself it could be implantation. I really believed it for a while but now it's turning into clear period cramps.

Had a consultation with a new IVF clinic yesterday and booked a scan for period Day 1,2 or 3 for Friday (secretly hoping that period wouldn't turn up). Feeling fed up now to be back on that wheel.

Grrrrrr hate being infertile (and old) x

Meg5500 · 12/05/2021 06:38

@Janefx40 aww I’m so sorry AF seems like it’s on its way, it really is the worst feeling. Just be kind to yourself. Glad you have appointment booked and can get the ball rolling with a new IVF clinic.

I have SI every other day for a week now and think ovulation has passed. But I just feel it hasn’t worked! It really is such a hard journey!

How is everyone else doing?

Oilyoilyoilgob · 12/05/2021 16:43

@Janefx40 I’m sorry to read you think your period is coming ☹️ I think we all know that feeling of watching our bodies and hoping anything different will create our bfp so I’m really sorry you are feeling fed up. I hope you’re alright and as ever, take care of yourself and look after yourself 💚 that’s great news about the clinic, I hope you feel it’s the right fit for you 😊

@Meg5500 every other day is fantastic, I always think anything more is a bonus (we once did 13 days on the trot and still nothing!) so I’m wishing you the very best of luck in your tww 🤞🏻

I have a scan booked at the ivf clinic for next Monday, which I imagine might show if I have pcos/cysts/fibroids which I was told I might have due to my amh level at 46. Gulp! I’m just going to wait and see, if they’re in there then I can’t do anything about it.

I do hope everyone on here is ok, no matter what stage of their cycle or pregnancy 💚 xx

suzy124 · 12/05/2021 18:55

@Janefx40 sorry to hear you're feeling so low. I had that last month too where I let myself believe it was implantation and was utterly devastated (more than normal) when AF came. I actually don't know if letting yourself have hope in the tww is better or worse. Are you still taking the progesterone? That's good news about your scan with the IVF clinic this week, something to focus on. Of course hoping that AF stays away for you

@Meg5500 Good going with the SI. Hope this means your cycle is a bit shorter this month and that the tww passes quickly for you

@Oilyoilyoilgob All the best with your scan on Monday. I know it must be really worrying but just remember it's only a maybe and there's every chance it won't show anything. I hope you're able to do something nice this weekend to help take your mind off it

I'm due on in a few days and know in my heart it hasn't worked again. I think this is the first month where I haven't driven myself crazy symptom spotting though, haven't googled a single thing and feeling better for it. My lovely GP has agreed to start next steps to investigate, next month am having my bloods done and OH will be having semen analysis so just trying to focus on those for now

Love to all xx

Oilyoilyoilgob · 12/05/2021 19:44

Hello @suzy124 that’s really kind, thank you 😊 we actually have not much planned but now you’ve made me want to do nice things! After weeks of renovations and some problems I finally have my new washer fitted so I’d planned on doing lots of washing, maybe I need to rethink that 😄

I’m really sorry to read you think it hasn’t worked this month, but you never know until your period arrives so I will keep my fingers firmly crossed 🤞🏻
I’m really pleased to see you feel better re symptom spotting and that’s taken some stress off you-long May that continue ☺️
I’m wishing you the very best of luck (if you do start your period) on your further checks.....it’s a bit nerve wracking but I can honestly says other ladies on here have been so right. Once you start with further investigations a weight really does lift if you’ve been trying for a while, it stops the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness 💚 xx

Janefx40 · 12/05/2021 21:59

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It really does help. Still feeling pretty upset about it all but glad I have you. I know I should be looking forward to the clinic appointment but really I just feel depressed to still be here and talking about our fifth treatment cycle (tho to be fair that does include having a perfect daughter). I just want this to be over. I think maybe I am nearly ready to stop. I want a baby so much and a sibling for my girl even more. But there's only so much of this I can take.

@Oilyoilyoilgob best of luck with the scan. These things are always scary. Hopefully it won't find anything amiss but if it does, well it is better to know and treat it than to live in ignorance. At least you've got lots of washing to do to take your mind of it ooo us SI Ladies know how to live!!! 😂

@suzy124 sorry you feel it's not worked again but great that you have managed not to drive yourself mad. Let me know how you managed that one! (I only took the progesterone once in the end)

@Meg5500 hoping you are wrong and SI has done it's magic after all

Love you ladies xxx

Carol1980 · 13/05/2021 08:45

Morning ladies !!

I constantly feel like I pop on here and the first thing I have to do is apologise for my absence !!

I feel like there are not enough hours in the day, coming home from work I'm so exhausted ( probably my age totally catching up with me now) and all I seem to manage is make dinner, get my daughter ready for bed, and then veg until I have to go to bed 2 hours later because I'm up so early to get to work !!
If anything though at least it keeps my mind off of the 2ww and symptom spotting !!

@Janefx40 I know exactly how you feel about wanting to give up. I've had those conversations with myself many times the past year. But then I remind myself that if I didn't try everything I would totally regret it. So push though this mental block you have x your doing a grand job so don't beat yourself up x I'm like you though, I have a child and she is my total world, but I would love a sibling for her x

@Makingnumber2 what can I say, I'm over the moon for you that the scan came back with a little baba growing nicely x it's easy to say and I've been there myself, but I'm not going to say 'relax don't worry etc' it's not easy, but just keep telling yourself ' it's my time. Everything's going to be fine x'

@MrsKin90 sorry to hear that your still in limbo with the opk's nothing worse than just waiting on the line/static smiley!! I hope it doesn't keep you waiting much longer x

Sorry my brain is not working and now can't remember who updated what !! But wishing you all lots of luck with whatever stage your at x

I'm currently 6dpo.
I've not been symptom spotting as I just couldn't be arsed to be honest !!
I got my first vaccine dose yesterday...they asked the question of whether I think I might be pregnant, I just said no, well don't know if I am and to be honest I wasn't in the mood for telling 2 total strangers ' oh I'm 5dpo and just waiting to see if I am' 🙄 to be honest I would have still got it if I was !!

So in a way having my vaccine is a godsend right now as any boggles I feel I'll just be blaming the vaccine 🤣 which means I might relax a bit more this month !!

I decided to try the ubiqiuinol this month along with my now usual vitamins. Feel like a Holland and barrette shop right now, morning is 5 vitimins now!!

Oilyoilyoilgob · 13/05/2021 21:26

@Janefx40 that’s how I’m taking it, whatever’s in there is in there so I can’t change anything in regards to what they’ll see on the scan. Still makes me do a big gulp thinking of it though ha! So yep loads of washing, cleaning etc over the next few days-rock and roll huh?!

You know it’s fine to feel fed up about your clinic, it’s a really tough slog this so just accept your feelings and go with them. You know what’s right for you mentally and physically. I really do wish you the very best of luck that it does work for you though, and you get your much longed for second little one. Take it easy 💚 xx

MrsKin90 · 13/05/2021 21:39

Cd31 for me! Still no confirmed ovulation. If I ever get another egg or another period you guys will be on the list of people to know ASAP 😂. Totally over it right now. I was using easy@home OPKs and clear blue digitals but never got last the flashing smiley.

Doctors tomorrow to talk about next steps for fertility. If there are any right now. Bit worried I'll have a meltdown. Sure it'll be fine. Maybe I'll never ovulate again. That'll take away the mystery. We've given up on SI for this "cycle" now. Yesterday was the last day we're doing as I cba. So hopefully I've magically ovulated.

@Oilyoilyoilgob honestly try not to worry! Whatever they find, though likely nothing, there will always be a solution if it's a problem ❤️ you've got this. Whatever it may be! I'll make sure to check on Monday to see how you've gotten on.

@Carol1980 happy half way in your tww! 😊 Well done not symptom spotting and hooray for getting your first vaccine.

@Janefx40 so sorry about AF and being back on the IVF train 🙁 only you know how long you want to keep going for. It's such a mental, physical and emotional attack. All we want are some healthy babies, why is life denying us that? Makes me quite angry for us all. ❤️

@Meg5500 and @suzy124 will have my fingers crossed for you! I don't think you can ever really know if it's worked until AF does or doesn't not come, try to keep your spirits up lovelies.
Happy tww @birdbybird. Hope this is the one!!

I've probably missed someone and I've probably not replied to someone's happy news - saying that surely we're due some more super positive news soon?? Although there has been some lovely stuff on here lately 🥰
