I hope this name is okay. It's late and nobody is volunteering so it'll have to do 😂

Starting yet another thread on self insemination before our other one kicks us out!

Welcome to THE most supportive group you could wish for if you’re starting or you are already on a self insemination journey.

@MrsKin90 I hope your egg doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

@Meg5500 this made me chuckle! I have also been known to read the thread post SI!

@Oilyoilyoilgob sending you a huge hug- one day that is going to be you and you will be so amazing at being a mummy. I really hope you get news about the IVF funding soon.

@primrosechill was just thinking about you and your appointment which is why I came on to post! Glad the bloods are done and hope they phone you really soon with results- will be keeping everything crossed now. Chuck those sticks to the back of cupboard somewhere and sit on your hands so you aren't tempted to do anymore. I've tried to stop POAS daily and get it down to 2--3 days by telling myself POAS won't change the outcome of whatever is going to be. It's helped a bit. Sending you a handhold whilst you go through the wait for results xxx

suzy124 · 04/05/2021 13:08

@Oilyoilyoilgob I know how you feel, every time I see my neighbours with their newborns it's just gut-wrenching. But I'm so glad there's a plan in place and it must feel like some relief for you after all this time. Hopefully you won't need it though, fx crossed that AF stays away this week! And good luck with your scan!x

@primrosechill Sending positive vibes and really hope they get back to you quickly with the bloods, I can't imagine how anxious you're feeling right now. Everything crossed for you! x

Oilyoilyoilgob · 04/05/2021 13:29

Thanks ladies, bloods done. We keep missing each other’s calls at clinic re nhs eligibility so I’ll find out today. Then I guess it’ll be my scan next, husbands sperm analysis which I’m assuming is a level above the GP one he did at the hospital, to tell us about the dna in his sperm.

Great to have a bunch of ladies that really understand that absolutely gut wrenching feeling, I just want one little one to call mine and hopefully that will happen 🤞🏻

@primrosechill I’m so hoping your bloods come back very soon, thinking of you today 💚

I hope everyone else is ok, at every stage of whichever cd/SI/tww stage you’re at xx

primrosechill · 04/05/2021 14:34

Just had the call back - hcg levels are at 124 so within the norm 🥰

I know there'll be plenty of chances for me yet to freak out and worry about whether this little marble will stick around this time but for now I suppose it justifies a little celebratory dance. Thank you for "keeping me company" while I waited xxx

Janefx40 · 04/05/2021 14:44

Hi everyone

@primrosechill I have everything crossed for you. I remember only too well the anxiety of being pregnant for the first time with my DD. I'm sure I've said it before but I was off the scale with anxiety. I totally and utterly lost it. It is absolute torture and not something that you can imagine beforehand when all your are dreaming of is a BFP. But once you get so close the fear of a loss is overwhelming. I think you just have to take it as it comes. Be nice to yourself and do whatever it takes to get through the day. Another handhold here.

@Oilyoilyoilgob well done for getting your tests done and fingers crossed for the NHS funding. Usually clinics would just do a regular sperm analysis unless they have specifically mentioned that it's a DNA fragmentation test (which btw is quite expensive between £500 and 800 usually?). Worth double checking which he has done afterwards.

Janefx40 · 04/05/2021 14:45

@primrosechill oh we cross posted. That is a good result!! Yay!! How are you feeling? Xxx

Makingnumber2 · 04/05/2021 14:51

@primrosechill what fab news! So pleased for you Grin

@Oilyoilyoilgob that's great you will hear about funding today- hope the call doesn't make you wait much longer xx

Oilyoilyoilgob · 04/05/2021 15:29

@primrosechill yaaaaayyyyyyyy! Wonderful news, just wonderful. I understand the worry hearing you are pregnant but like you said for now, do that celebratory dance and just soak up this moment.
Thrilled for you 💚 xx

Just called the clinic and they are happy to do our first cycle under nhs funding 🥳 (I thought we got an official letter but no 😅)

@Janefx40 we’re not sure, we told the consultant that husband had a very recent sperm test from GP at the hospital but they want another one. So I have no idea if it’s the same run of tests or perhaps a little more in depth? A bit like my bloods, I have no idea what they’re for and they’re asking for them, so just turned up obediently! Husband is insanely busy at work with back to back clients so I’m a go between on clinic calls and it’s something I keep forgetting to ask!

Aww the thread is on a positive roll today, let’s hope it keeps going that way and there’s more good news and bfps to come xx

Janefx40 · 04/05/2021 15:44

@Oilyoilyoilgob yay! More amazing news. That is fantastic. Now you can buy yourself a treat instead!! X

suzy124 · 04/05/2021 15:44

Amazing news all round! @primrosechill @Oilyoilyoilgob so happy for you both right now! xx

Oily just out of interest can I ask what made you eligible for nhs funding with the private clinic? Sorry if you've mentioned this previously..

primrosechill · 04/05/2021 15:51

@Oilyoilyoilgob AMAZING! roll on good news Tuesday ;)

Makingnumber2 · 04/05/2021 15:55

Awesome news @Oilyoilyoilgob!! So happy for you!! Grin

Oilyoilyoilgob · 04/05/2021 16:12

Aww thanks everyone 🥰 we are delighted! Really helps money wise and gives us an ‘extra go‘ but I’m hoping that’s not needed.

@suzy124 it’s a private and nhs clinic 😊 we had our consultation first (£200) which included some blood tests for me (not amh thats £60 extra)
This is our most local one and also has results in line with the national average for live births. She had to call us re eligibility because of how long we put we’d been trying, basically gave us a wink over the telephone to make sure it was over the 24 month mark of trying, so we readjusted our form.

There is another in leeds that would be our second choice but I wouldn’t think we’d be eligible for nhs there as it’s not our local area. I’d rather be close to home after procedures etc too 😊 xx

MrsKin90 · 04/05/2021 17:45

Oh so much excitement today!!

@primrosechill hooray! So happy for you 🥰 will they do a repeat test?

@Oilyoilyoilgob that's amazing you get a go on the NHS! ❤️ Will it mean you can go ahead asap? No waiting list?

Lovely to read such positive stuff here today!
Thanks for the ovary support ladies. Doctors won't give me anything to help ovulate. To be fair until just recently I was fine with ovulating between CD16-22 but that's because it bounced around, it's less fun if it's going to consistently be CD24+. TTC is utterly exhausting!!

Oilyoilyoilgob · 04/05/2021 18:24

@MrsKin90 thank you! I didn’t ask 😳 they probably think I’m a very chilled patient 😅

Tbh I’m quite tired, had some mad dreams waking me the last week and I also assumed that these tests are the start of the ball rolling so my head is a bit away with the fairies today (in a nice way!)
The very nice lady that I’ve dealt with so far spoke to me last week that once eligibility is confirmed, it’s a sperm test for husband and a scan for me to start with.

I’m calling tomorrow as I’ll have to do the sperm drop off for him so I’ll ask then. Their first appointment that coincides with his work diary so I can drop off is the end of May, if I get my period this week I’m imagining the scan will be booked for after that’s done and dusted.

I did think you had around a week when you definitely ovulated so I’m sorry to read it’s going further back than normal. What a horrible wait for you, I hope your sticks/clear blue start to pick up some movement soon 🤞🏻 Hope you and your husband have been ok 💚

MrsKin90 · 04/05/2021 19:05

@Oilyoilyoilgob you do sort of sound like the most chilled patient 😂 sorry to hear you're tired, take some time to breathe calmly! Do you have an early night planned? I can imagine there's a lot going on in your brain! It sounds very exciting and like it's all on the way, just don't forget to look after yourself as you go along ❤️

We're both okay. Hubby a lot more patient than me. I just want to lose the weight now 😒 NOW. Maybe whilst I'm distracted we'll end up with a miracle 😁 here's hoping.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 05/05/2021 07:11

@MrsKin90 I will ask about timescales today 😃 husband is going to take the appointment that makes him give the sample in clinic as we decided the one hour slot I’d have in rush hour traffic, and finding a dreaded parking spot, is too much of a hassle and risk. Parking spots are like gold dust at our hospital and it can be hugely stressful driving in circles for one.
Yes brain has been really busy and tbh I’ve quite enjoyed these few interactions getting told what to do and when to do it with the clinic, it’s given away some responsibility around ttc which has felt quite nice.

I’m really glad you’re both ok ☺️ You will most certainly lose weight and a slower approach generally means it will stay off. Even if it takes a little longer, you’re getting your body ready for a lovely healthy pregnancy and labour and then giving it the best chance for good energy levels when your baby arrives 💚
My husbands PT is a massive advocate of walking, good calorie burner and easier on the joints than running!
You will do this, we are all behind you xx

primrosechill · 05/05/2021 08:10

@MrsKin90 I am so inspired by your determination to lose weight for the ivf. A friend of mine got pregnant while on a weight loss schedule for ivf and she did say that having a distraction (focusing on the weight loss rather than getting pregnant itself) was a real blessing for a while. Hoping for the same outcome for you but at the very least hoping this will give you a bit of a mental break - it's also early summer which is arguably the best time to try to lose weight :)

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry you've been feeling knackered but still so so excited to hear about your next steps. Keep us posted on how you're getting on with all the appointments/tests.

Is it okay if I linger on this thread for a bit more? I'm still not ready to "graduate". I've booked my 6 week scan with the clinic yesterday so that's the next milestone. Not feeling any symptoms yet, aside from maybe peeing a bit more and feeling a bit more tired. Work is stressful at the moment which isn't ideal but it's also busy which hopefully means first semester flies by...

Big love to you all, have a good day! X

MrsKin90 · 05/05/2021 08:40

@Oilyoilyoilgob I wish I had the time for a personal trainer! I've told hubby off for not being one 😂 sounds like a good plan regarding the swimmers being dropped off, sounds far less stressful for you both that way! I'm excited for you🥰

@primrosechill aww thank you for sharing a positive story! You are welcome to stay until you're ready! Same goes for Makingnumber2 🥰 hopefully your scan is here before you know it x

Oilyoilyoilgob · 05/05/2021 14:21

Awww @primrosechill that’s awesome about your 6 week scan ☺️ I’m just so happy for you. Of course stay on the thread, I totally get the anxiety and the thought of wanting to wait a little during this time 💚

I’m going to see when (I mean I hope it doesn’t come!) but if/when my period starts this week then I’ll ring clinic re my scan as I imagine that’s done at a certain time of the my cycle. Husband is booked in for sperm that he will give in the clinic at the end of the month, she said today it’s a more in depth test than the one he did via GP and they test it as if they’d be using that sample for the ivf. So a nice sperm MOT!
Now acceptance is creeping in about taking this route I feel a weight lifting off my shoulders.
It’s like @Janefx40 said a few weeks ago, it’s the relief of them helping you through this process.

@MrsKin90 so I do so I just get my husband to pretend he’s ant Middleton doing the sas programme as we’re walking 😂 I like being told off as we are going up inclines as the irritation at it spurs me on ha!
You’ve got this, you’ll do it and you’re going to feel like superwoman by the end of all this 💪🏻💚

Meg5500 · 05/05/2021 17:28

@primrosechill aww this is so amazing! Ok so happy to read all this positive news! Just take each day lovely and enjoy this moment! Abs please do stay on the thread! You are giving me hope!

@Oilyoilyoilgob amazing that you can get the ball rolling, that is such a weight off!

I’m on my second round of clomid and they have upped the amount to 100mg but it’s day 12 and no sign of peak yet...😞 I’m just so worried I’ve messed everything up by taking clomid when I was ovulating on my own! Feeling a bit down about it all and I read something yesterday about a girl who had been trying for ages and turns out her tubes were blocked so now I’m worried about that too! Argh!

Hoping the positive news carries on for a long time! Xxx

RosieDay86 · 05/05/2021 19:18

Hello everyone,
I hope you don't mind me joining- I've been lurking for a little while but feel that now is the time for me to actually say something!
So a little about me - my husband and I have been married for a few years and would like a baby. I suffer from vaginismus and have buried my head in the sand for a very long time - always trying with the hope that I'll be able to manage it, but have only really accepted my vaginismus in the last few months. It's been an emotional roller coaster but my husband has been such a massive support, so I'm very lucky in that respect. That's when I came across this thread and the SI method! Since finding out about it I feel like a weight has been lifted and that we're actually in with a chance now. It's also helped knowing I'm not the only one as it can feel very lonely and apart from my husband haven't been able to talk to anyone about it.
Anyway, we're currently on our third cycle- I should know by the weekend whether it's worked - not feeling that it has worked this time but still keeping everything crossed. Generally being as positive as I can be and hoping it'll work but also exploring the possibility of IVF.
You're all super supportive of one another so hoping to join in with that (although I'll admit now...I'm terrible at checking messages etc at the best of times but will do my very best!)

Meg5500 · 05/05/2021 19:46

Hi @RosieDay86

Welcome! I’ve only been on here a few days but I already feel so much better having these ladies to talk to!

Good luck for this cycle! You aren’t out until AF arrives!

What method are you using? Just syringe and pot?

Xx

RosieDay86 · 05/05/2021 20:18

Hi @Meg5500

Thank you! Oh I bet - it makes such a difference having someone to talk to about it! :-)

We're using a pot and a 1ml syringe - I was so amazed at how easily I could manage that and am just so chuffed that there's actually hope now! I'd love to be able to use a fertilily but just the thought of it makes me feel queasy! What about you? How long have you been using this method?

Ah thanks! I'm hoping at the very least that this cycle is longer than my last - only 21 days so if that becomes the norm I'm worrying that may be an added complication. They're usually about 24 days so not the longest anyway but more within the normal range.

Wishing you luck with your journey xx

Meg5500 · 05/05/2021 21:07

Hi @RosieDay86

That’s so good that you are managing to do that! Well done!

I’m doing the pot and syringe method too. This is our third month trying that way.

I know a lot of ladies on here use the ferti-lily and soft discs and have had success but I’m terrified of them too and don’t like the sound of them!

I’m the other extreme and my cycles were 35 days. I ovulated on day 21 every month. I got put on Clomid last month to try and shorten my cycles but it actually made them longer last month 😩 so I’m a bit frustrated! They said that can happen the first time but just praying this month that it shortens them back down...but no sign of ovulation yet and I’m at day 12!

It is such a journey and just so glad we all have each other here!

Keep us posted lovely! Will look forward to getting an update!
