Sorry you are out too @M4v3r1ck 😢 Thank goodness for chocolate eggs and a long weekend! And yay for a fellow Scot! Are you enjoying our miserable weather while everyone down south has their heatwave 🤣😭🤣

@Feanorous if you always wake up around 4am why not try taking your temp then? That's what I do. I always wake up for a wee in the night, could be anytime between 2.00 and 5.00am, I just do it then as soon as I realise that I am conscious but before I get out of bed.

Misty84 · 01/04/2021 11:52

@Kitekat81 I know how you feel, I’m the same, feel a bit better now that I have a plan of action! 💪

My thermometer was £4.99 including delivery from eBay so that’s prob why it’s broken already haha!

@Feanorous I mainly temp because it very reliably lets me know the day or two before AF is arriving (temperature drops) therefore it’s a few less days of obsessing about it!

@M4v3r1ck Sorry to hear you are feeling down. Definitely have a little indulge and be kind to yourself!

TTCat39 · 01/04/2021 11:59

@Misty84 Good luck with your tests!

@M4v3r1ck Thank you, I am not taking the news very well. I mean, it's not even news until I've got the other tests done and spoken to the GP etc. But it doesn't sound good from what I've read. My husband and I talked about adoption last night. It's something we've always considered, but thought it would be in addition to biologically connected children too.

Feanorous · 01/04/2021 12:31

Thanks guys I am going to give the temping at 4am a go!

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/04/2021 12:35

@M4v3r1ck sorry for the bfn. Cake and champagne this weekend sounds fab tho! You enjoy yourself 😘
@Misty84 having a plan is place is half the battle sometimes isn't it! Good luck with everything.
@TTCat39 when can you next speak to the gp? Were you both on the same page about adoption then? I know you can't start the process whilst going through fertility treatments so it takes a long time to start sometimes. Hopefully biological children can still be an option for you x

TTCat39 · 01/04/2021 12:49

@notyetamumbuttrying Yes, we are both in agreement that adoption is something we would like to do, if we are lucky enough to be accepted. But we would also like to keep ttc. I know that we can't register to adopt if we're undergoing fertility treatment, but I don't know if we will receive any treatment yet.

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 12:51

@lemonade83 Thank you! I think I’m finally understanding these flippin’ sticks.

So after yesterday’s very early flashing smiley I got a static TODAY. So I’m ovulating (or about to) on CD 10!! Last month was same pattern of 1 day of flashing and following day of static, but was flashing on CD 12 and static on CD 13.

I have Qs for the Mumsnet Hivemind:

1- this feels v early for ovulation. Is it still within the realms of normal.

2- is different days of ovulation normal?

This probably puts me out for this month as last dtd on Saturday before I headed off for work this week. So broadly within 5 days of tadpole lifespan. Seeing him from tonight, so obvs will jump him (as is the norm when we’ve been apart anyway tbh!), but might miss the egg window. Frustrating but not much I can do about it now. C’est la vie! 🙄🤣

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 12:54

@Marvellouslymadmum That wait is utterly ridiculous. Do you mind reminding me your age? I would 💯 go private as the tests for AMH and AFC aren’t horrifyingly expensive and are super quick to organise. I think I paid about £500 for all my tests and scan, but I’m including iron and thyroid so it would likely be nearer £400. If you can only do one I’d go for the follicle count because AMH is pretty meaningless unless you’re planning IVF, and you’ll have an idea of it from follicle count anyway (after which you could do AMH if follicles are v low). Xx

TTCat39 · 01/04/2021 12:55

I don't currently have an appointment to speak to the GP again, as we have several tests to go through before that point. I have to have my bloods taken for progesterone later in this cycle, and also have a cervical smear booked in for mid next cycle. Husband is still waiting to hear back from his GP regarding doing the semen analysis and an STI test (both of us) as a requirement for referral. We can't be referred until those results are returned so it looks like beginning of May at the earliest before there's a set of results to speak to GP about. It took me three weeks to get an appointment last time so I'll get it booked in when I know how long my husband's testing is going to be.

TTCat39 · 01/04/2021 12:59

@Geriatric1234 You might not find my experience useful at all, given my recent crap results. But for the three months I've used CB OPK's I've had a static smiley on CD11/11/10 with cycles of 24/24/23 days. I still don't really understand if that means I did ovulate, or if I just had an LH surge but no egg.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/04/2021 13:01

@Geriatric1234 I believe that you can ovulate early or late and it's your Lp that stays the same, so unless you have a shorter Lp it should be fine.

I turned 42 at the weekend so I feel like waiting until November is crazy! I've got to say that today I feel a bit rubbish about it all, I was all Excited to get the tests done and now it's not going to happen! I think I'm going to speak to the gp again and find out if there's any other stuff they can do from there because obviously time is not on my side!

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 13:09

@TTCat39 I’m sorry your results weren’t what you hoped for. I think you should gather a much data as possible before you write yourself off completely, as the more data you have the more complete a picture you’ll see. It may be something that can be tweaked easily. The book “It starts with an egg” that we all rave about is great (resisted saying “eggcellent” there...it’s Easter...forgive me) because the author is a scientist and she trawled through loads of studies analysing the results and the book is essentially a compilation of her conclusions. She discovered egg quality can be improved because eggs mature for 3 months prior to ovulation so we all have a few cooking for months before we ovulate! Therefore, we can give them a better chance. She herself had low ovarian reserve diagnosed in her 20s and went on to retrieve 22 eggs from her first round of IVF by following her research. It’s an impressive book.

Just don’t read it and throw away every plastic think or fragranced skin product after first read 🤣

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 13:11

@TTCat39 That’s actually very reassuring! Thank you!! Xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/04/2021 13:20

@TTCat39 ah I see! Hope you get to speak to the go soon then!
@Geriatric1234 I'm an early ov'er sometimes get static cd9 so will ov cd10. Sometimes I ov cd11 or 12 as well. I just have short cycles 24-25 days. Doc said it was fine for me as that's just me. Have had short cycles since my periods settled as a teen. If they're getting shorter over time then apparently that can be an issue. Have they have always been similar length?

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 13:20

@Marvellouslymadmum Yes, I thought we were about the same age! I’m 43 in August. From one 70s child to another I think you should go private if that financially feasible for you. Purely because finding an issue now is preferable to Christmas time! Xxx

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 13:23

@notyetamumbuttrying My cycles have always been pretty clockwork at 27/28/29 days. I guess we shall see if this month is the same but if I got static today, and assume ovulation tomorrow, I guess that would put me on track for a 27 day cycle again...blimey. Bodies are so mysterious sometimes!!!! Thank you xxxx

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/04/2021 13:29

@Geriatric1234 yep they really are aren't they! X

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/04/2021 13:34

@Geriatric1234 yes we are! That's exactly what I'm thinking, I can't afford to Leave it too late! It's just going to eat into the money that's supposed to be for ivf if we absolutely need it (which I'm hoping we won't) and don't want to be put on the ivf path if there are other options such as clomid etc which I've not seen anyone offered with private 🤷🏼‍♀️

Geriatric1234 · 01/04/2021 14:18

@Marvellouslymadmum I deffo think that will be money well spent, if only for peace of mind! x

Kitekat81 · 01/04/2021 16:32

@TTCat39 as you are the same age as me I would recommend checking that you have had 2x MMR jabs. I just assumed that because my parents aren't anti-vaxxers that I must have had it, but turns out for our age group they only did measles not the other two (I actually had mumps as a kid so would have got immunity from that, but hadn't had the rubella jab). It wasn't a massive deal but did hold up our fertility clinic referral by a couple of weeks as I needed to get a booster as they wanted to see evidence I'd had it twice. Just another check to add to your list!

MgW1 · 01/04/2021 16:39

Hi how you all ? Not posted on here for a while .... still trying though. I am about 4 weeks into a 13 week wait to seen specialist from Recurrent Miscarriage clinic , hope everyone is well xx

TTCat39 · 01/04/2021 16:54

@Kitekat81 Yes, I forgot to add that I had the rubella screening at the same time as my CD2-4 bloods, and it was positive for antibodies, so that looks to be ok. Thank you for trying to help speed things along! x

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/04/2021 17:23

@Geriatric1234 yes that's true, I'm going to start looking up places and prices online over this weekend and make a decision next week. Thank you x

Hi @MgW1 13 weeks isn't too bad, it'll fly by xx

Sorry I haven't been very chatty ladies, just feeling a bit meh after yesterday's news 😑

MgW1 · 01/04/2021 17:38

@Marvellouslymadmum
Im trying to get up to date but can't find your post , have you been referred too? X
