Positive or Evap lines?

Hi,
I’m new to this!
I had what seemed to be a UTI for at least ten days so I went to the drs. They got me to do a urine sample, which didn’t show any signs of infection.
My dr suggested I did a pregnancy test as I have missed a bleed (I’m on the pill). I did a test on Friday morning and it was negative in a couple of mins, went back to bed and then came back an hour later to what looked quite clearly as a positive. I read online this means it’s likely to be an evaporation line, however this was clearly blue in colour.
I did another test on Sunday morning and it did the same, negative in the ten mins but when I checked later it was positive.
The dr has said it’s likely evap lines but I should test again next weekend. My sister, who has 6 children is adamant that I’m positive.
Has anyone had experience of this before? I’m just very confused!

If the lines aren't coming up immediately given you've already missed a period I would be very surprised if you were pregnant. Why not buy one of the digitial ones? You might be more reassured by them.

Any pictures? I would speak to your GP about getting bloods done

It won’t let me upload pictures as a new member, sorry! They’re very clearly blue and there. I think I’ll retest in a few days with a different brand as it’s all I can think about!

Thank you! It’s hard to know as the GP seemed so sure that I was and then reckons it’s evaps. Would you say to wait until the weekend so it has longer?

@AnonymousBeck hmm if you've missed a period it should pick up now! I'd be pestering the gp for bloods 🤣

I’m not sure if it would be different on the pill as you can have the withdrawal bleed even when pregnant on them can’t you?

What type of test did you use?

Tesco’s one, the two pack. I’ve used it before and never had evaporation lines with them

Some tests take longer to get a clear positive.

I've had tests come up as positive only after the time limit that have turned out to be early correct positives, but blue dye tests are notorious for the evap lines getting a blue tint. Get a pink dye test such as a frer and see how that goes.

If they are testing for a higher level of HCG, they might take longer to darken up. I would test with a FRER.

This happened to me and I was pregnant.

Although I left mine in the bathroom bin all weekend, thinking it was negative, only to check it again on the Monday and it was positive like you say.

Got a digital that came back pregnant.

@sabrinathemiddleagewitch was it after the time they tell you to wait? I’m going to do a digital one next weekend I think so I get an answer. The dr saying she thought it was probably evap lines was disheartening

Yes it was negative after 2/3 mins so I binned it on the Friday.

It was in the bin for 48 hours before I checked it again on Monday, I don't know how soon after I chucked it it changed but it was positive.

Confirmed on the Monday with a digital.

I’ve ordered a digital test online so will do it when that arrives this week :)

It’s letting me post pictures now! I’m waiting on the tests to arrive but I thought I’d show you the tests from last Friday and Sunday! First pic is Friday, second is Sunday.

They defo look like positives ☺️
