We're a mixed bunch of ladies ttc with all sorts of issues, mainly of the male factor kind! 😏 Though there's a range of reasons over here, come join if you've been in the ttc game for a long time and had nearly every test under the sun ☀️ and heading for interventions. There's ivf chat as well as natural. Buckling up for the ride of their lives are our usual riders: 😎

Sorry your results weren't as you would like but they did say it was normal so that's good! Have you had your follicle scan too @notyetamumbuttrying

I would read "it starts with the egg" by rebecca fett - she had "lower" AMH and it talks about how to increase egg quality etc.

Annny27 · 03/03/2021 15:19

Ahhh hate it when we haven't dtd much so understand your frustration @robinrose :/

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 15:36

@Annny27 yeah they did say it was normal. It's only .1 off so I'm prob worrying for nothing tbh! I don't actually think it's that low having now done some research. And I am now in the 35+ range despite not technically being 35 just yet so think I'll chill now 😅

@Annny27 thats really interesting! The clinic have said no sex until 18th March when we are due to test but now I'm wondering if we should ignore that!
@notyetamumbuttrying spicing things up sounds like a great idea! The last three times we have dtd it has been "to clean out the pipes" to get fresh stuff for ivf, even less romantic and exciting than ttc sex (I didn't think that was possible). I really hope we will get our sex life back at some point. We've only been together for a little under 4 years and have been ttc for about 18 months. I miss those early relationship days where you can't keep your hands off each other !

Motherofkittens28 · 03/03/2021 15:45

@notyetamumbuttrying good you got your results back, that will really help them plan a protocol for you. My AMH is 5.2 so a little under yours. When are you likely to get your male factor tests back?

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 15:50

@Motherofkittens28 how old are you again? And are you on short or long? I called up today for those too and they said they'd call Dh back so sat waiting...😬
And er, yeah, that does sound very unromantic 😂 that'll be us soon too then!
We're 6 years now and 18 months of ttc. I can't wait for the ttc sex to be over with, one of my other motivations to get ivf started ASAP 😝

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks for the response. GP-wise I've had my 21 day bloods which shows everything is fine for me. DH has had SA and all fine for him. They said they don't do bloods for males so he didn't have one. 🤔
Any recommendations on things I should be asking at my first hospital appointment?

@notyetamumbuttrying I just turned 39 4 weeks ago. They put me on long this time but have already said they would do short on a next round because of poor response, that's not necessarily due to my AMH but my response to the drugs. It infuriates me that they will only give the SA results to the guy, in the end we sent off a letter to the fertility specialist saying that he was fine with them giving the results to me as men are never as proactive about chasing up!

We've been together for 11 years (since we were 18 haha!)

@creativethinkertequiladrinker no but I am having one next month :S I have heard its painful and it scares me!!!

@notyetamumbuttrying exactly if they arent concerned then no reason to be :D

@motherofkittens28 yeah potentially no sex after the embryo is transferred as you dont want to shift things or disrupt implementation

Motherofkittens28 · 03/03/2021 17:08

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker I've had one and it was nowhere near as bad as I feared. It was a horrible uncomfortable feeling for about 30 seconds and then fine. I had a catheter trial before my ivf cycle and the hycosy was nothing in comparison.

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 17:48

@XPeach123 If his SA was fine they won't do bloods. So you'll need day 3 tests and an ultrasound scan to check you womb lining, ovaries etc. Perhaps ask to get your tubes checked and what else they suggest. Any supplements you should both be on, how often they suggest you have sex. If they'll do an amh blood test and afc scan.
@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker I'm starting to realise that it's not that bad actually. Thank you. Not had a hycosy before, don't listen to MN tho, ppl love sharing horror stories! You'll be fine 😘
@Motherofkittens28 ah ok. Good to know, thanks. I might have to do the same as he will never chase up! They're so happy to wait aren't they, very annoying!
@Annny27 thanks lovely ☺️ since 18, wow! That's nice though. Did u meet at uni?

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker now I've heard THAT is painful 🤪

OP posts:
Tofu35 · 03/03/2021 17:53

@anny27 @creativethinkertequiladrinker I have!
This is in my personal experience of it...
They will advise taking some painkillers before and also bring a sanitary pad (as you'll get some leakage of the completely safe, see through, odourless liquid they inject so they can check if there are any blockages).

Its like getting your smear test plus added extras!

In terms of pain, you can feel the liquid go through your tubes which is weird, it feels like a pinching/cramp sensation and where there's a blockage it feels a bit sore. After its finished, you'll feel crampy for an hour or two so make sure your OH is on hand with treats and a hot water bottle

I had a nurse to chat to and hold my hand during it so she was definitely a distraction technique while the doc was doing an inspection! Its pretty cool though because you can see what they're doing on the ultrasound machine. "Oh look, it's your ovary". Haha!

Theawkwardblonde · 03/03/2021 19:18

Thank you all for your kind words of support yesterday. Got me a tad emotional, but so grateful to you all for the support do a massive thank you 😘😘 couldn't have made it through the last few weeks without your kind and hilarious words of wisdom.
Debating starting the coQ10. Best places on where to buy?

@Motherofkittens28 the suppositories were mentioned to me previously if I have another MC, which I've had. I'll be mentioning it on my next consultation. I may have missed this, but why have they been prescribed for you? I'm curious to know with it being mentioned to me-also had a friend who finally conceived and swears it's down to taking them.

@notyetamumbuttrying please don't stress over the AMH. I did for months and it got me down. My consultant said there is no need to worry if it's a little low, just that time is ticking a tad quicker. Mine came back at 7.4 and I'm 29 so mine is definitely lower than should be 🤦🏼‍♀️
although cracking idea re love honey.

My DH nearly died when I did a love honey shop last time 😂😂 clearly thought all his christmases had come at once. I then ruined it by uttering the charming words of "I'm ovulating" 🤣🤣

@Tofu35 I had quite a massive vitD deficiency show up on my bloods. Most people have one, but mine was very low. Since taking that, vit c and the folic acid I have noticed I feel physically better. I take CLA too but that's a fitness supplement.

@Annny27 good recommendation-I've got low AMH so may give that a read.

I've still not had a positive opk and well overdue when I'd be ovulating. Been DTD every other day as off work but by god it's killing me 🤣

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/03/2021 19:45

My doc told me we had to dtd every other day for the whole month each time! It has not happened 😂 we were doing quite well cd 4,6,9,10,12 then he got pain and we didn't haven't since, cd16 now got my peak on 13 so probably out the month 🙄 will keep trying to coax him in the tww 😂

@notyetamumbuttrying is the amh a blood test? I'll need to talk to the docs about what's next after the day 21 test

Hi @XPeach123 we've been ttc since April 2018 so feel your pain, not been referred though as we aren't eligible on the nhs, there will be others that can help you more though

@RobinRose we missed our peak too 😫

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 20:58

@Theawkwardblonde aw you're very welcome! Defo get on the coQ10, Amazon have loads! I take it in ubiquinol form as it's meant to be more absorbable.
That's what scares me with the time ticking but I'm 90% sure we'll be going private so hopefully my eggs will be out only a month after turning 35!
Haha how dare you use the most seductive phrase known to men the world over 🤪
Hope you get your peak soon!! Don't burn out 😉
@Marvellouslymadmum yeah it's a blood test. Detects your egg reserves, you need it with afc scan as well for the full view which I'll be getting on Monday afternoon. You'll need day 3s as well to test your fsh and lh. If you got peak on cd13 and you did it all those days before you're defo not out hun!

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 03/03/2021 21:03

@notyetamumbuttrying ahh thought so, I'll have to see if the docs will do those next! She's checking for fsh and Lh on the day 21 for some reason so I'll probably have to have that done again 🙄 I hope we aren't out you never know!

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 21:32

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah I think you will. You'll have skewed results otherwise.
You'll prob end up getting your bfp!! If he has some good swimmers then hopefully they would've hung around for your egg! Good luck 🤞🏾

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 03/03/2021 21:46

@notyetamumbuttrying unfortunately I don't think he does have good swimmers 😕 he hasn't had a sa yet but was told years ago that they weren't great and he had little chance of conceiving! He's taking the suppliments though, eating healthily, giving up smoking and trying to exercise more so 🤞🏻thank you

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/03/2021 21:52

@Marvellouslymadmum all positive changes then that's great! Is an SA booked in?

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 03/03/2021 21:55

@notyetamumbuttrying no not yet, he's doctor-phobic, always thinks they will tell him something awful every time he goes to them so I've got to persuade him to ask for one! I'm hoping to get him to call next week once the kids are at school and there's less stress
