@Annny27 How are you feeling lovely?

@Lozzlepop @Kiza thank you for telling me about your experiences. I actually decided to stay with my consultant as he is the one who has seen me through the nhs tests. The scan and SA Is booked in for 2 weeks and my consultation is 17th June. My next AF would be 23rd June so I’m hoping I could start on that cycle. I’m going to see if I can book my bloods in as quick as possible so I can start the following week.

I did have one issue. So even though I’ve had the MMR vaccinations as a child. I’m not immune to rubella. So they said I needed to have it again which means stopping trying for 2 months before I could do ivf. I managed to get the doctor to agree he would sign off that I don’t need it as I’ve been done as a child and even the vaccination didn’t work they would still go ahead with ivf anyway. Also there was only 3 cases of rubella in the U.K. last year! Hopefully that gets signed off!

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2021 16:36

Well it’s been a rough ride of a day- basically been told that IVF is not the correct route for us as there’s really no guarantee that it would lead to a successful pregnancy for us.

XjustagirlX · 20/05/2021 17:29

@Lozzlepop oh wow did they give an alternative suggestion? Why do they think it won’t work?

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2021 17:35

@XjustagirlX they just said we have the same chance of having another miscarriage if we conceived naturally or through IVF and they don’t know why we were referred

XjustagirlX · 20/05/2021 17:44

@Lozzlepop how are you feeling? I’m not a doctor but surely you have a better chance with ivf. I was told by a specialist that lots of miscarriages are due to the sperm and egg not being good enough quality. With ivf they will pick out the best egg and sperm (with ICSI) so surely that will give you a better chance. Sorry for ranting I’m actually really annoyed in your behalf. I would understand if you had had lots of rounds and it wasn’t working but they should at least try.

Can you say that you would like to go ahead with the ivf regardless? Or maybe try a different clinic?

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2021 17:58

I dunno- a bit flat really..... they said they only look at the embryos to assess their suitability for pregnancy but not if there’s any issues genetically etc.

I don’t think you can pick up here- there’s not as much provision in Scotland as down south unfortunately. I think we will maybe try again naturally and see how things go 🤷🏽‍♀️

Annny27 · 26/05/2021 14:07

Thank you everyone for the well wishes ❤ feeling okay if not a little but deflated

@lozzlepop so sorry to hear that they dont think it I'd the right path for you. But I do think they can test whether the embryo is genetically normal and will pick the best quality egg. Where is your head at with it all?

@xjustagirlx great news that you are starting so soon!!! How exciting

@MIW01 best of luck for you lap let us know how it goes :)

Naturally trying seems like a good plan @lozzlepop and you can take baby aspirin, progesterone and a high prescription of vitamin d. All of which can prevent miscarriage

Lozzlepop · 31/05/2021 15:18

Happy bank holiday Monday- how is everyone doing?

@Annny27 no we asked and they dont do genetic testing unless we paid for it privately but the doctor says its not always a viable option as the cells within the embryo can be different so you may keep an embryo comprised of mainly bad cess as the one you have tested is good or vice versa if that makes sense. I have booked back in to get my Thyroid checked again and they may start me on medication for that so we shall see! How are you feeling after the past few weeks?

thislittlebird · 31/05/2021 15:37

Hey everyone, I haven’t put my head in here for a while, hope you’re all ok. We’re just cranking up the bbq for this nice bank holiday Monday.

Sorry to hear what they said about ivf @Lozzlepop, are they going to make alternative suggestions?

@Annny27 sorry about your recent chemical too. Frustrating that they won’t help you under 35.

I’m stepping into the ivf world now. NHS have not been very good to us, told us we’re unexplained (after previous drama with wrong results etc). We aren’t unexplained as far as I’m concerned, we both have issues with our test results (and a private doctor agrees we aren’t unexplained). I’ve complained to PALS but not heard back yet.

In the meantime we’ve been to see the urologist Mr Ramsay last week, and we are seeing a Lister ivf consultant this week. We can’t keep waiting, I turned 38 last weekend and time is not on my side so looks like we’ll have to go private. Probably can’t start for a few months yet, husband needs to have some tests and I suppose the doc will try to improve his quality before we begin.

CycloGoose · 02/06/2021 19:59

Just reading some of these posts and I feel so angry and let down on your behalf. Why are the doctors not supporting you as they should!?
I hate that this all gets brushed under the carpet and I wish you all the luck in the world xxxxx

thislittlebird · 04/06/2021 06:20

@CycloGoose I’ve no idea, it’s been a stressful few months. Fortunately we saw the aforementioned ivf doc at the Lister this week and she’s going to write us a letter so we can challenge their decision of unexplained. It’s ridiculous, we both have issues and no help offered, barely any tests.

How are you getting on?

CycloGoose · 04/06/2021 07:50

I hope they listen to you @thislittlebird. This must be completely infuriating!

You can still get IVF on unexplained anyway AND it's a better way of weeding out the eggs and sperm that are going to make it to blast stage AND they give you suppositories etc that can help with keeping the lining ready etc. So many reasons why IVF could help.

ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY!

My friend had this but with thyroid treatment. NHS wouldn't treat because acceptable levels, IVF wouldn't go ahead without getting levels down. NHS conceded with IVF letter.

Good luck and keep us up to date!

Hearing all the horror stories, we've been looking into IVF with ABC.

Lozzlepop · 07/06/2021 11:14

Off topic but wanted to share the happy news that we got married at the weekend ❤️

Stunning 🥰 Congratulations @Lozzlepop

Annny27 · 07/06/2021 22:11

@lozzlepop congratulations beautiful!!! You both look so lovely ❤❤❤

Glad that you managed to go ahead with it all! How does it feel? I loved being in the newlywed bubble

@orangeloo do you have a frozen embaby on board yet?

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 09/06/2021 10:52

@Lozzlepop congratulations. What a great photo.

I went for my AMH blood test and my scan last week at the ivf clinic. They weighed me and it turns out my BMI is 18 and it needs to be 19 for funding!

My BMI has been 19 for about 10 years (I am naturally very small as is my mum). I think I must have lost weight when I started cutting gluten out a few weeks ago or maybe the stress of ivf and work.

My funding has already come through so I guess I will find out next week at my consultation if they are happy to go ahead or if I need to put weight on. The clinic don’t cere about my low BMI but it’s the funding which has actually already been approved.

Annny27 · 09/06/2021 17:10

@xjustagirlx oh that's interesting as mine is low too (always struggled to keep weight on and both parents and my siblings are all tall and thin too haha)

Will try pack on a few pounds to get my up to funding level then!

orangeloo · 11/06/2021 11:56

Stunning @Lozzlepop congratulations 🥳

@Annny27 I have frozen embaby on board. It was amazing and straightforward. Felt great for a couple of days. Had some spotting so just swinging between hope and not thinking this is it. The tww is hard although work has been a good distraction and I am actually coping better with it than I thought.

Annny27 · 11/06/2021 12:40

@Orangeloo do you know what dpt you are or are you trying not to think about it?

I am 14dpo and spotting today so period arriving tomorrow or sunday I think!

OP posts:
orangeloo · 11/06/2021 14:49

@Annny27 I'm 7dp5dt so I could test but I'd rather stay in the bubble a bit longer and incase it ruins my weekend haha.

Kiza · 11/06/2021 15:20

@Lozzlepop oh wow! Congratulations on your day!

@orangeloo how exciting! Glad FET went well for you, I ended up testing 2 days early but I remember I just couldn't look so made my partner. When's your OTD?

@XjustagirlX great news that your funding has been approved and come through. Fingers crossed they accept your just naturally a slight build and can get cracking with IVF!

@thislittlebird it's so frustrating how inconsistent the NHS is with IVF. Some areas are great and some are shockingly bad! Ours is classed as good but we didn't have the best experience with them. I really wish the government would put more funding into fertility and IVF.

@Annny27 sorry to hear it's another month of bleeding for you. I can't recall if you said but have you considered the IVF route?

Now at 22 weeks ladies and this old timer is really starting to believe all is going to work out well 🙏🏼

Annny27 · 11/06/2021 17:53

@orangeloo will be crossing all my fingers and toys for you!! Yes it's nice to be in the bubble I imagine testing will be very nerve wracking!

@kiza wow 22 weeks!!! Are you blue or pink or dont know yet?

And yes would deffo consider ivf but I wont get funding untill November and my surgery for endo will hopefully happen before then and I am hoping we can conceive naturally after that 🤞🤞

OP posts:
orangeloo · 14/06/2021 07:41

Thank you @Annny27
All that crossing must of helped because I've just had my first ever BFP's

I can't believe these tests are mine. Feel like I don't know what to do with myself at all. I am on cloud 9! I know we have a long way to go but for now I am pregnant and overjoyed.

I am thinking of all you this is the hardest shortest journey and you are all amazing. I wish you all love and your own good news. X

@Kiza OTD is tomorrow but we went for today as OH goes away tomo.

I'm 10DP5DT today.
