TTC after implant removal

DanniF02 · 09/02/2021 15:14

Hi, I’m 28 and TTC#1. I’ve recently had my implant out after 10 years. The last one was actually due out March 2020 however I didn’t get it removed until feb 2nd 2021.

I know it’s only been a week , and have been told you can fall straight away, but I’m just wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation to me.

I have no clue as to when I would be ovulating as I never had a period whilst on the implant, nor have I since getting it taken out. I’ve been using ovulation sticks for a week now and all have been negative.

I’m just so Impatient and was wondering about other people’s experiences for getting their first period or ovulating etc.

Thank you

I conceived during my first cycle after having my implant removed. I was 28 too Smile

DanniF02 · 09/02/2021 15:23

@PCar20 aww really, congrats. That make me feel so much better, I think it’s the not knowing what it going in inside that gets to me. I’m hoping that’s the case for me too, but I’m also wishing for the first AF so I can start tracking ovulation as well.
I haven’t had a period in so long, I’ve forgotten all the sign etc

I wasn't TTC when I came off it last Aug, mostly tracked just to see what was going on after years of having the implant and no periods. I read loads on the Internet about bleeding straight away but in the end I ovulated 19 days after it came out according to bbt and period came exactly a month after it came out.

DanniF02 · 09/02/2021 16:32

@Quolla thank you for the reply, it’s fab to get info from different people as it’s reassuring. Hoping to get my period soon, so I can start tracking properly

@DanniF02 I was waiting every day for period to start! Surprised it took so long but it also made it feel kinda like a normal cycle which is nice.

Flowerchild547 · 09/02/2021 18:31

Hiya
Jumping on here to see other people’s responses.

I had mine out 15/1, it was due to be changed in July. I was bleeding before it was taken out (started 12/1 and ended 23/1).

I’m waiting for AF to arrive so I can start tracking cycles and figure out when I ovulate. Currently I have no idea about anything!

DanniF02 · 09/02/2021 19:35

@Flowerchild547 it's awful waiting around and not knowing what's going on. I've started with the ovulation sticks but everything is negative, so I feel like I'm wasting my time atm. Had a feeling they might have worked straight away with my implant being due out early last year

@Quolla I'm the same. In my head I was going to start my period straightaway! It's typical

Hello

I had mine out on 13 May 2020, and first AF arrived 6 June. Sadly still TTC Sad but have heard loads of positive stories about people getting pregnant very very quickly so fingers crossed you will be one of those people!

Moon12345 · 09/02/2021 23:46

Hi all, I had my implant out in early July 2020 after nearly 10 years and pretty much no periods whilst on it. Got my first proper period post-removal about 6 weeks later. Didn’t bother tracking ovulation as decided to let my body do what it needed to and not put pressure on anything. First cycle after that period was almost 40 days long, second cycle was only 20 days and I fell pregnant on the third. No idea if I ovulated the cycles before but I did notice cervical mucus a few times. The only difference looking back is the week I conceived my skin was really bad (normally good) so I guess my hormones were wild!

Currently 19 weeks pregnant Smile Good luck ladies - try and be kind to your bodies (and your mind!) as they regulate again.

DanniF02 · 10/02/2021 00:23

@Moon12345 thank you for sharing. I’m going to try a similar approach and just try and not pressurise myself cos its driving me crazy

Hi I'm getting mine out tomorrow! Very exciting. I'm 31 and this is first time TTC. I never had any periods to begin with but I don't think it's been as effective the last year (it's expired) as they have come back. Hoping they stay and they are regular!

TTCAli · 10/02/2021 10:55

I had mine out on 18th Jan, after having implants continuously for almost 6 years. I'm 31.

I had no bleeding at all while I had them, and had very light spotting for about 2-3 days within a week of having it removed which I'm assuming was the withdrawal bleed.

I started using OPKs the day after it was removed and like you OP I was getting really frustrated when they were constantly negative - completely white with not even a hint of a faint negative line I'd seen on so many other posts here. I was reading stories online of people who didn't get a period for months and worrying myself silly. Needn't have worried, the OPKs started getting gradually darker 2 weeks after removal and got my peak on 3rd Feb, and it looks like I ovulated on 4th as I had BBT rise on 5th.

In the TWW now, so can't report on pregnancy, but I'm just relieved ovulation returned pretty quickly! Fingers crossed for you OP!

DanniF02 · 10/02/2021 11:25

@SEC89 good luck for tomorrow, I'm hoping mine come back quite quick too as it had expired also

@TTCAli so glad you finally got the lines on the OPK's after just 2 weeks. I'm hoping I'm the same. Fingers crossed.
The TWW must be awful, I'm the type of person who needs to know straightaway. I have no patience what so ever. You'll have to let us know how you get on, sending you all the luck and baby dust

Hi 😊
I had my implant removed in October and had some random spotting in November and a short
cycle.

By December my cycle was completely back to normal and is predictable 28 days now. I found tracking everything on one of the apps really useful I used Flo. I could see exactly what was going on and began to see a pattern.

Once I saw a pattern with my cycle I started using opk’s. I’ve been using them since the start of Jan, in my TWW again now but I’m confident my body is doing what it needs to.

DanniF02 · 10/02/2021 11:35

@Eaststreet it must be so reassuring finally seeing a pattern. I'm so eagar, I've got the flo app downloaded ready to track and give me an idea. Ive got OPK's but I'm trying not to use them as I'm getting nothing and it's getting me down.

SEC89 · 10/02/2021 11:58

@TTCAli i'm also 31 and will be TTC from tomorrow when my implant comes out. i've ordered a thermometer and some OPKs. not really sure what i'm doing though. what app are you using? do you notice a significant temperature change? good luck for your TWW.

@DanniF02 thank you! hope your cycle settles quickly.

TTCAli · 10/02/2021 14:38

@DanniF02 to be honest I'm not finding the TWW too bad - it's good that I've got a date where I should at least know one way or the other! When I was still waiting for lines on my OPKs I kept imagining I could be doing the same thing every day for months with no change (that seems silly now I know it was only 2 weeks, but felt like time was dragging while I was waiting!). Also, it's been so long since I had a period I'm not tempted to symptom spot as I just assume everything is my period coming back!

@SEC89 I've been using the Premom app, but there are loads that seem to do similar things, that's just the first one I tried! I got it as I saw someone on here recommend it for tracking OPKs, and that bit is really useful. I wasn't tracking BBT right from the start, I didn't even know about it til I started reading about it on here, so I only had about 3 readings from before I ovulated, but yes there was an obvious difference. All the readings were from 36.25 - 36.40 before ovulation and since they've been between 36.70 and 36.82. Good luck with TTC - and have fun :)

Amijustagrump · 10/02/2021 15:18

I had my implant out December 2020 and 3 cycles in, no luck TTC but my cycles have immediately returned to normal!

Amijustagrump · 10/02/2021 15:19

I'm 23 btw

DanniF02 · 11/02/2021 17:16

@Amijustagrumpb
That’s brill that they’ve went back to normal pretty much straightaway! Good luck on your journey

Hi, I'm 30 and got my implant out sept 2020. It took 55 days for a period to come, after that my first cycle was 32 days long and second cycle we conceived! I was worried it would take ages to normalise after 6 years implant and 6 years before it on the pill so was thrilled it happened so quickly. Good luck

MsRT · 12/02/2021 14:37

@DanniF02 I'm currently in the same boat.

I had my implant removed earlier this week (it ran out in Feb 20 and by the time I went to book an appointment COVID had hit...).

All of my OPKs have been negative too and I never had periods whilst on the implant so it's difficult to see where about I would be in a natural cycle. I'm going to continue taking them and have also ordered a thermometer to track BBT too.

Keeping everything crossed for you!

DanniF02 · 12/02/2021 15:27

@MsRT I'm trying to hold off using the OPK's until I've got my first period. But it's just so hard not to, hopefully yours come back quick too!!

@Birchtree4 congratulations, I'm hoping mine will be quite similar too

DanniF02 · 12/02/2021 15:38

@Snowymcsnowsony
Aww that's fab!! I'm just so impatient :)
