@sickofthisyear so sorry to hear this, it must have been awful for you! My sister went through something similar at age 17. 🤞🏻 for some happy news for you.

WrongendoftheSTIX · 16/02/2021 19:02

@sickofthisyear sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what it must be like.

I'm 38, almost 39. We have an 8 yr old and like you, we probably "should" have tried properly earlier but hindsight is a wonderful thing. If my DH and I knew in my early 20s what I knew now about TTC and our related issues, we'd have started back then rather than "waiting for a good moment" and expecting it would happen straight away like they tell you in school!

We were told conceiving DD naturally would never happen by our fertility consultant but we did. (Albeit after 3 years of OPKs and BBTs) We haven't tried to prevent since she was 1yr old and have had no sniff of a BFP. Also, we asked, no NHS support due to having her. We just gave up hope. For us, this is a last ditch, focussed attempt with low expectations.

Sleeeeeepy · 16/02/2021 19:20

Hi @sickofthisyear I'm so sorry to see you back in these circumstances and for your loss.

I'm recently back myself after a MMC, and I totally hear you on the regretting not trying again sooner. I know it's pointless but hard not to think it. Let's hope 2021 is our year xx

sickofthisyear · 16/02/2021 19:24

@WrongendoftheSTIX ah, you've just reminded me- my other prev UN was lastditchattempt. @M4v3r1ck I remember you- sorry to hear about your MC.

sickofthisyear · 16/02/2021 19:26

And @Sleeeeeepy you too Thanks. It's been a long year all round.

Misty84 · 16/02/2021 19:27

@WrongendoftheSTIX Thank you for sharing, really interesting to read your story and I’m so sorry you’re in the position you are now! A focused attempt with low expectations sounds like the most sensible attitude to have in approaching this.
Also hearing that you tried for 3 years and conceived your daughter naturally gives wonderful hope for those of us trying for our first.
Wishing you the absolute best of luck!💕

sickofthisyear · 16/02/2021 19:37

I'm trying to be 'low key' with DH about tracking etc. I use Clear Blue digi dual hormone and just give him a few days heads up. (No chance of DTD every other day all month for us! 🙈)
Last cycle I seemed to have a v short FW according to OPK so we only managed a couple of tries. No hint of any line! Onto cycle 2! Anyone else just starting a new cycle?

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/02/2021 20:13

@sickofthisyear I've just started a new cycle today and will be trying the cb digital advance tests this month as well as bbt

Kitekat81 · 16/02/2021 20:58

Welcome back @sickofthisyear, though wish it could have been in better circumstances. So sorry for your loss 💐

Welcome too @KG1145, wishing you lots of luck for this year.

Hope everyone's doing ok. @Geriatric1234 was your scan today? How did it go? I've got my hycosy and AMH test tomorrow. Looking forward to having some more information to move forward with.

Geriatric1234 · 16/02/2021 21:22

Hey @Kitekat81! Yes I did (I’m so impressed you remembered!) and it was NUTS. Turns out: I have no fibroids. I was misdiagnosed! Huge relief.

Follicle count also better than expected. 8 total. One corpeus luteum (which I now know means just ovulated). So I have a decent number for my age and am ovulating (which I knew but it’s just nice to hear!).

Good luck tomorrow! It’s so nice to feel proactive and get some hard facts to work with. Let us know how it goes! Xxxxx

Welcome @KG1145 - you’re in good company here Smile xx

@sickofthisyear I’m so very sorry. That’s heartbreaking. Crossing everything for your BFP xx

KG1145 · 16/02/2021 21:28

@Misty84 sorry to hear you're in a similar situation but also glad to hear it's not just me. It can be quite a lonely time can't it!

Re the stressful job, it dawned on me that I concieved my son, and both losses this year after having time off from work. I really wonder the impact of stress from work, with everything else and TTC on top is the problem. If one more person tells me to just not stress and it'll happen I think I will cry! If only it was that easy...

I know what you mean with herbal remedies, it's difficult trying to second guess these things and if you want to do something but not sure what and whether it'll do more harm than good. It's tough. I'd be interesting in hearing what you decide with them though. I've recently started Bachs Calms to help me manage anxiety with work, I think that's helping.... maybe I could get it on an IV ;)

I think I'm going to order some of the CB tests and try those, I might use my cheap ones from CD5 and then Cb when I get a bit closer. I wonder if I've been ovulating early and we're missing it....

KG1145 · 16/02/2021 21:35

@Marvellouslymadmum sorry to hear af arrived for you today too. Even though I was sure it wasn't our month there was still hope there. I have had an entirely unproductive day and have mostly been crying between meetings.

I'll look into those digital ones. Are those with the electronic reader or ones that sync with your phone. I think I might do some googling tomorrow, it's felt quite overwhelming today so one thing at a time.

I'm going to grab a glass of wine and watch a documentary I've phone on the science of acupuncture.... or I might just go to bed. Such a rock n roll lifestyle!

MeltingSnowflake · 16/02/2021 21:36

Hello! May I join? I’m 36, almost 37, and we’re in the first cycle of trying for baby #1.

Currently at the end of the TWW - am due my period tmrw and I can feel it coming on so it looks like it’s on to cycle 2!

Wish everyone so much luck 🍀

KG1145 · 16/02/2021 21:45

@sickofthisyear so sorry to hear what you've been through.

Thanks everyone for such a nice welcome. It's nice to have some company on this TTC journey :)

@Geriatric1234 sounds like such positive news from your scan. Must be such a relief!

@MeltingSnowflake welcome, finger crossed for you still that this is your month!

Misty84 · 16/02/2021 21:55

@Geriatric1234 and @Kitekat81, interesting to hear about your tests. I’ve been having mine with mixed results. Progesterone good (56), AMH really low (2.3😔), follicle count 10 in total, one small fibroid. Dye in the fallopian tubes is next but that will be many months away judging by how long I’ve had to wait for all the tests so far.

@KG1145 Grabbing a glass of wine is my answer to everything haha!

Welcome @MeltingSnowflake xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/02/2021 21:58

@KG1145 I didn't think It would be my month either but you still have that little bit of disappointment 😕 I've been listening to audiobooks which I've really found good de-stressing too! The ones I have are the ones that Bluetooth to your phone, they're quite expensive in boots but I found a few people selling them on eBay with short dates for reasonable prices - less than half price! So I thought it was worth a go. They're the connected ones and the app is free 😊 hope you feel better soon

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/02/2021 22:00

@MeltingSnowflake welcome!
@Geriatric1234 sounds like you had some positive results there!

Kitekat81 · 16/02/2021 22:10

@MeltingSnowflake welcome and good luck!

@Geriatric1234 congratulations on no fibroids! And your follicle count sounds ok. Mine was 6 at age 39 😣 Really hoping I was just having an off day and there were some more hiding in there! Will get some more info from my amh result. @Misty84 my progesterone was 57 so similar to yours.

Misty84 · 16/02/2021 22:33

Thanks for sharing @Kitekat81 and good luck for your tests tomorrow! xx

thislittlebird · 16/02/2021 23:41

Glad to hear your tests went well @Geriatric1234 and good luck for yours @Kitekat81!

Snap on the small fibroid @Misty84, I have one small one lurking in there too but it’s out of the way apparently.

Geriatric1234 · 17/02/2021 09:13

Thank you @thislittlebird and @Marvellouslymadmum I was literally told I had ‘several intramural fibroids’ which I thought might have grown and perhaps contributed to my MC, but now I suspect it was just a ‘bad’ egg. And one little one defrost won’t cause issues - it’s only if they invade the uterus that they can be tricky, but even then plemnty of women have healthy pregnancies with them. xx

@Kitekat81 Thank you! Based on the images I was looking at at the timeI think there’s plenty of scope for them to hide! They sent me the pics afterwards with follicles highlighted and I still can’t see them! Good luck today! xxx

@Misty84 Thank you - reassuring to hear that. Based on what I have been told I think the follicle count is more important than AMH, so I really don’t think you should get too down about that number (easier said than done I know). The follicle count is good and a little above average for your age I think? Also - remember the averages for follicle count are based on a study of women who had conceived naturally, so you’re in good company there. xx

Welcome @MeltingSnowflake!

Guys - I’m wondering about progesterone. Should I get a test for the hell of it? I’m being told I don’t need to as they know I’m ovulating, but is it worth knowing it juuuust in case it could cause another MC? I’m reading mixed info. Anecdotal opinions welcome!

Have a great HUMP day people! xx

Geriatric1234 · 17/02/2021 09:14

That corrected ‘deco’ to ‘defrost’ there. I’ll blame autocorrect and not my morning gin hic

Geriatric1234 · 17/02/2021 09:14

OMG - DEFFO. Not ‘deco’ FML.

thislittlebird · 17/02/2021 09:35

This whole progesterone issue is plaguing me right now and consensus on it seems hard to find @Geriatric1234. Have you had a day 21 yet? I guess if I’d had a miscarriage before I’d want to know what was going on so that I could address it quickly if I got pregnant again mainly. I’m talking to the private clinic again today about the p word and I’m in a very impatient mood with it all today. Kind of don’t even want to talk to them lol

I did wonder what you were defrosting lol.

This whole follicles thing is really interesting and I was reading an article about it last night (in the context of PCO(S), because I have been concerned I could have it since my scan but doctors didn’t seem concerned) and the range of “normal” is huge, this academic was saying how the language around it needs to change and PCOS needs to be renamed etc. Every day is an education with the world of ttc right now.

Loladoodle · 17/02/2021 09:41

@sickofthisyear I am so so sorry for all you have gone through, that is utterly heartbreaking and devastating. You are so brave to be back on here ttc again and shows your strength and positivity despite all you have been through. Praying 🙏 for your rainbow baby 🌈 (and yes ... I’m still here... cycle 12 🙄😬)
