Newbie TTC 2021 club!

Hi girls - looking for a little crew to share the ttc journey with - we are newbies this year - decided on Jan 31st to start trying after 12 years together! but had literally just missed my ovulation day for that cycle, so even though we had some fun over NY we are properly starting next cycle around the end of the month - just have to wait to finish this cycle now, and I've never wanted a period to come so quickly haha!

So - any cycle sisters out there who will be trying with me on or around end of Jan? I'm Cd21 right now.

And feel free to share stories and ages!

I'm 34 and have been off the pill for about 2 years now - we don't really use protection just pull out lol and never had a scare so I'm a little worried we could have a bit of a long journey. Although my mum conceived me first time trying so I'm praying it's in the genetics lol!

Not sure about you but I'm already getting obsessed which seems to be pretty normal lol but it would be good to have some pals to talk to rather than my cat or my husband, who I think I could quite quickly freak out if he knew just how many mum'snet threads I've read!

Also... What are you most looking forward to being pregnant?

@Dixie1488 Yeah only cycle 1, so no idea why I’ve become a diva already 🤣 I opened a bottle of wine 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why not.
I’m sorry you got a blank test too, it’s grim even when you expect it. I mean how jammy who it be to get pregnant in the first month?! Xx

Hi! But late to the party but we've decided to start trying too. Our wedding got cancelled so we thought we'd do this instead haha.

We already have a little girl but she was a pleasant surprise so it feels super weird 'deciding' to try for the first time.

I've not got a clue what all the acronyms mean so I've no idea what I'm doing. Fingers crossed for everyone though!

I know it’s rubbish! But I think most of us don’t expect it cycle 1. Gotta keep going hey!

I would recommend googling “Trying to Conceive Lingo” which should tell you all of the acronyms. It helped me anyway! If I’m doubt just ask 😊

@Dixie1488 Haha, me too! I’ll look pregnant soon without a baby. 🙈 Yep, we sure do. Here’s to temping, ovulation sticks and checking/swapping bodily fluids. Who said trying to conceive was a romantic and loving act?!

DTD - doing the deed
BFP - big fat positive
BFN - big fat negative
OPK - ovulation prediction kits
AF - Aunt Flo

Thank you! Just changed my username so sorry if it looks weird - very new here 😂 looking forward to being able to share journeys though. It is so hard when you're not telling any family or friends so you can't talk about it!

Oh isn’t it just so romantic. I told my partner “I will only need you for five minutes per day”, he was like “fine, I don’t last long anyway” 🤣

@Hallie91 Okay! It took me ages to choose a username that wasn’t already taken! It is great being able to talk so openly. My little sister is pregnant so I don’t want to take away her shine by telling my family plus it’s added pressure I don’t need!

I am expecting my period this weekend but could be later, sometimes it’s a week late and drives me mad! So we can’t really try until another few weeks or so.

Hi everyone new to the thread. Myself and my partner have been trying for 2 months and I'm so impatient. Every tweet or twinge in my stomach I'm like oh I wonder. But I'm not going into my 4th day of a late AF I have tested 3 times and all BFN! So disheartening but trying to remain hopeful

@Dixie1488 ah I've just come off mine. I've no idea even how often to get busy. I've read every other day but I'm worried that wouldn't be enough during ovulation days 🤷‍♀️

@Hallie91 I'm not hopeful, I love not had AF a day late in over 4 years! I started folic acid so I'm wondering if that's messed my cycle!

@Hallie91 hmm yes I’m not too sure! I might do every other day a few days after my period and then maybe every day for 3/4 days around ovulation then back to the every other day for the next week? Who knows, I guess I’m making it up 😂 I need to research!

@Dixie1488 so do I but I really don't think so. I've done 2 normal clear blue tests and a digital yesterday and all said no!

@Aims1991 Ah okay. How many days DPO are you? Have you been on any long term contraception before?

@Dixie1488 no contraception in 3 years. Didn't really like taking the pill. 17 DPO.

@Aims1991 hmmm maybe you could be pregnant? I did read somewhere that HCG levels can sometimes take 18DPO or in some women a positive won’t show until they are 2 weeks late. So there could be a chance! Its so horrible not knowing what’s going on.

@Dixie1488 Yeah I read that too. I've some horrible cramp and felt like AF was there but nothing. I've had bleeding gums randomly for 2 days and headaches occasionally! Just wish I could know for sure

@Dixie1488 sounds like a good plan - think we'll do the same. We're weren't going to try yet as I wanted a 2022 baby but rather give us more tries.

@Aims1991 it must be so frustrating - I'd be the same as you as I'm never late. Keep us posted!

@Hallie91 yeah of course. Not going to take folic acid tomorrow. Not that I've read it makes any change but I want to see if AF shows up! I just wish I could see a BFP

@Aims1991 Aw bless you, that sounds rubbish. How about ringing your Doctor for advice/ a chat if you get another negative in three days time or so if AF doesn’t arrive?

@Hallie91 we were going to wait but I feel having more time to try is sensible and then if it happens soon then bonus! If not we still have time 😊

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me joining. We have decided to start trying for our first this month. I’m on cycle day 9 and have already started my OPK. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and stopped taking the pill since June. Since then my cycles have been around 30 days but my last was 45 days. This means I’ve no clue when I’ll be ovulating. I’m really trying to not become obsessed with this but I can feel it happening already 😬 I’m so glad to have found this forum and others who are on this journey at the same time 😊

What do you girls think about age? I'm 34 so feel like I'm in no mans land in terms of whether I should worry or not... seems like you pass 32 and you start getting those concerned looks. I know it happens to loads of women in and around their 40's, but sadly you can't argue against biology sometimes. I think it's about staying positive though unless it's necessary! My sister in law just had her first at 37 @Nats7504 - and another on the way now at nearly 39!

Also.. what prompted you to take the leap and start trying?
For us, hubby just got a great new job, while a door shut on one part of my career (im freelance) - then my MIL was diagnosed with breast cancer just before xmas. We adore her and just couldn't imagine having a baby without her there laughing away at all the funny things babies and toddlers do - she used to be a primary school teacher and she's just got this way with kids. So all this happened at once and weirdly it felt like the universe just pathed the way to take the leap. But I have been worried about my age too...
