Hi girls - looking for a little crew to share the ttc journey with - we are newbies this year - decided on Jan 31st to start trying after 12 years together! but had literally just missed my ovulation day for that cycle, so even though we had some fun over NY we are properly starting next cycle around the end of the month - just have to wait to finish this cycle now, and I've never wanted a period to come so quickly haha!

So - any cycle sisters out there who will be trying with me on or around end of Jan? I'm Cd21 right now.

And feel free to share stories and ages!

I'm 34 and have been off the pill for about 2 years now - we don't really use protection just pull out lol and never had a scare so I'm a little worried we could have a bit of a long journey. Although my mum conceived me first time trying so I'm praying it's in the genetics lol!

Not sure about you but I'm already getting obsessed which seems to be pretty normal lol but it would be good to have some pals to talk to rather than my cat or my husband, who I think I could quite quickly freak out if he knew just how many mum'snet threads I've read!

Also... What are you most looking forward to being pregnant?
Xx

Just typed out a long message and MN just crashed ugh! Thanks for all the tips. My plan for my next cycle (if I still haven’t been successful and AF arrives this month) is to consistently test from around day 11 onwards every morning. Also, apart from folic acid which I’ve been taking since we started trying, is anyone else taking or planning to take any supplements? Would be interested to hear what else I should try.

Nats7504 · 10/01/2021 21:17

From what I’ve read.. ovulation kits pick up the surge in hormones which you get just before you release an egg. The CB kits say to do it the same time every day over certain days. I did it day 12 as I thought everyone ovulates on day 14. Not the case! Not 24 hours later as I was impatient, it was negative which meant my peak had been and gone from 6pm- midday the next day. I guess that’s why they say to do it a few times a day. I think you surge for 24/48 hours before you ovulate. It’s all very technical!!! X

Rosie333 · 10/01/2021 21:59

@ttcSam I started tracking body temp for the first time this month with a oral thermometer- just from Amazon. If you google bbt charting and check out some of the images of charts - it will show you how it can help you to understand if and when you ovulate every month. There is some debate around accuracy but thought I'd give it a go! Best to get a thermometer with two decimal points

Wondergirl1111 · 12/01/2021 12:16

Hi girls! How are you all doing?

Any one due to test, tested yet?
Anyone due AF had it arrive or not yet?

I'm still 7 days off predicted arrival of AF - feeling tiny cramps and wondering, hoping they are implantation even though I'm pretty sure we missed the window. But more than anything just feeling impatient to get started again next cycle!

I wanted to share too - I can't remember who asked but about prenatal supplements - I did a lot of research and asked a friend in wellness and she sent me this link - I've used supplements from here before - apparently there's a big difference between the quality of supplements and this brand Nature's Sunshine is one of the best - though I actually think compared to some supplements I've seen they are pretty good value - £23 for a 4 month supply plus you get money off your first order, so I ordered two to get me through the next 8 months whatever happens!

Here's the link if anyone's interested: lilyandloafinternational.com/collections/adult-pregnancy-preconception/products/natures-prenatal?aff=410744

Oh also @Rosie333 and @ttcSam I just got a thermometer and started measuring temp today too - interested to see if everything correlates - temp, apps, OPK's!

@Wondergirl1111 8dpo today and due Thursday (short Luteal phase) started spotting today and have usual period cramps so I'm out. Annoying as I was hoping if I wasn't pregnant to at least have a longer lp this month but it's got shorter 😭

Wondergirl1111 · 12/01/2021 12:37

@MayDay27 Sorry hun - and for your frustration of a shorter Luteal Phase - does this mean your fertile window is shorter?

MayDay27 · 12/01/2021 13:03

I think my fertile window is the same, at the moment I have 31 day cycle and ovulate CD22. I want to try and ovulate earlier next cycle 😶

StressyLady · 12/01/2021 13:21

AF due tomorrow... I have not tested again! Spoke to the husband and we're going to wait until the weekend to test again, then I know I will be late. I'm not feeling it though, not convinced, especially after my BFN early detection test.

I've ordered a cheap OPK off Amazon for the next couple of months to see if it works, will be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on using OPKs. I think I'm currently CD35 and 10DPO - therefore also have a relatively short LP. @MayDay27 have you read up much on what a short LP means for you?

Nats7504 · 12/01/2021 13:26

Hey ladies!

I’m due AF on Friday 🙈 I feel pretty hormonal so think she’s making her grant monthly entrance. Pregnancy tests are so expensive!!

Fifi1086 · 12/01/2021 13:28

It's so great to have other people going through this rollercoaster to talk to! I got another peak day today.. 4 days after my last. Starting to not trust the opk anymore and I'm only in month 1 of ttc 😂😂😂

Wondergirl1111 · 12/01/2021 13:30

@MayDay27 thanks for clarifying what that means in terms of your cycle - so you have to wait longer each time to ovulate! Annoying!

@StressyLady well done for being so disciplined! Have got everything crossed for you - there is always a chance! I have OPK for next cycle too - clear blue one - have you read the instructions yet? they are quite detailed! xx

OP posts:
MayDay27 · 12/01/2021 13:32

Yeah have to wait longer which is frustrating! @StressyLady I've googled it a lot and it's got me pretty worried that it's not good at all! Have you? I've tried vit C and vit B complex

StressyLady · 12/01/2021 13:48

@Wondergirl1111 It's yet to be delivered - will look forward to some bedtime reading when it comes!!

@MayDay27 all I've read is that potentially it doesn't give the lining enough time to build up and therefore the egg might not implant? It does sound worrying but I'm trying not to think about it for a couple of months... Let's keep each other up-to-date about our LPs!!

MayDay27 · 12/01/2021 13:53

@StressyLady sounds a plan! How many days on average is yours? I heard that if you implant later on you could come on before implantation, so since my lp is 9/10 days and implantation can happen between 8-12 days it might not have chance

StressyLady · 12/01/2021 13:57

@MayDay27 my average cycle length is 36 days, and I think I ovulate around CD27, but I'm going off EWCD so going to try the OPK to see if it can tell me any different

Hlouise1993 · 12/01/2021 14:34

Hey everyone!

We are trying to conceive baby number 2! Iv been off the pill since august and nothing yet I came on my period Sunday! I'm due to ovulate 23-25th so fingers crossed happens this month!

Tabbycat92 · 12/01/2021 14:35

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining.
I'm on month 7 ttc baby no.2. Baby no.1 was concieved 1st month trying, so doesn't always work that way it seems!
I have DS who is 2.5 years and would love to give him a sibling soon.
Tracking with opk's and bbt

Babydust to you all 😘

ttcSam · 12/01/2021 16:58

@Wondergirl1111 thanks for asking! I am CD12 and had EWCM yesterday so DTD last night for the 4th day in a run, so having a day off tonight because tbh it is just too much and need a rest, and then will do it tomorrow. Hoping that is enough for this cycle? I keep thinking I understand but then I don’t all over again. Took another OPK this morning and no smiley face. So haven’t actually had one yet. Not sure I’ll purchase them again to be honest? Does it change anything? If you’re DTD at least every other day in your fertile window that’s good enough surely?

Afraid I am no where near testing so you have definitely imagined that, but may be a good omen!

Are you tempted to do any early detection tests? Is this your first month trying?

ttcSam · 12/01/2021 17:36

Hi @Hlouise1993 are you using anything to track your cycle?
Hi @Tabbycat92 how are you finding the OPKs? Have you got the fancy clear blue ones?

Tabbycat92 · 12/01/2021 18:24

@ttcsam oh no, nothing fancy here. Just your usual lh strips. They're OK, I just don't ever seem to get very dark lines, so that's why I've started tracking bbt this month as I don't think I was always getting ovulation bang on

Hlouise1993 · 12/01/2021 18:33

@ttcSam

Use I have few apps! I find Ovia and clue the best.

Also I have the easy at home test strips and last month used the clearblue Bluetooth connected app.

It took us 8 months to catch with our first so I like it won't be as easy this time round!

GrapefruitGin · 12/01/2021 18:40

Thanks for the link to the prenatals, will check it out! Due AF on 20th, hoping she doesn’t appear 🤞🏼

Nats7504 · 12/01/2021 20:47

I took a test today even though I knew deep down I wasn’t pregnant. Seems I like to waste money 😂 I hate the waiting so wanted to put myself out of my misery. It was obviously negative and I fully expected it as it was our first month and we didn’t even try! But keep reading horror stories of trying to conceive in your late 30’s 🙈 I’m 37 next month and worried I’ve left it a tad too late. I’ve started prepping DP that he needs to lay off the booze, skinny jeans and get ready for lots of potentially unromantic shagging. As you can imagine he was jumping for joy 🤣

Dixie1488 · 12/01/2021 21:19

@Nats7504 I also took one this morning and it was a BFN! I expected it but couldn’t resist. AF is due Saturday to just a waiting game.

I’m sure you’ll be fine, it is only cycle 1 right? I’m on cycle 1 too.

Hahaha! That made me laugh!
