It’s a New Year TTC bitches and of course it’s time for a new bus...

2020 was a bit of a TWATFACE for us
2021...is surely EXACTLY the number of babies we are owed by now.

@minster2012 Tex mex tacos for me tonight! And watching OH drink a whole bottle of wine to himself - like he did last night! I'll be crying into my herbal tea ffs.

@blodyn91 yes, thank you! How's the house purchase? Will there be a nursery for DC or lots of reno first? We're still finalising the floorplans for our house. We spent ages picking an architect but she's made two mistakes with the floorplans which if I hadn't picked up on would have really affected our layout! So I'm a bit annoyed that I can't trust her to do her job properly...

Omg I'm sorry, I don't know what I'm at, mashing the keypad 🙈 i can't even remember what I was going to say now 😂 as you were.

@Juno231 I didn't actually start until the 3rd as had a wine on the 2nd! 😜 I'm ok at mo, but will prob want a wine tomorrow. Will fight the urge as don't want Dh drinking and a bottle to myself is a bit excessive 🤪 well done on the weight loss! I'm aiming for a lb a week as I can't seem to move enough. Wfh is really fucking me up!!

@Juno231 boo to OH that's mean, even my DH wouldn't do that 2 nights in a row. He messed up last year on transfer night getting pissed which he got a kicking for but he should at least try & help you a bit more (maybe??). Sending solidarity hugs, and sooo frustrating on the architects too, I had this conversation with my friend whilst walking today as we want to build a big shed in place of us not having a garage today (we don't have space for a garage) & was asking who did her extension & she said her plans weren't right either & her builder picked up on it it's so frustrating. Tex mex tacos sounds amazing we had veggie (well vegan) tacos the other day too

@Katao you reckon OV was round about yesterday based on the twinges & high peak yeah?!

So I took the plunge (literally) for the bath & found my new trash tv...the cabins 😂🤣

@Minster2012 kinda glad to hear it's not just me and my architect then. So far the loft conversion floorplan came back smaller than expected. When I commented on it she said it was the max size we could have under permitted development. So I queried why everyone else on the street had bigger ones without planning permission and told her to recalc cause I suspected she'd done it on the basis of us being a terraced house instead of semi detached (you're allowed 40m3 vs 50m3 increase under PM). Yup I was right!

Second thing was us asking to put a toilet under the stairs on the ground floor but she said it would be against building regs... Again I've seen lots of our neighbours floorplans and they def have them so it didn't sit right with me. I phoned up the council's building control dept to double check and the regs she'd been referring to were specific to new builds and not an existing dwelling... What next??

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah it's been tough whilst wfh. I also put 2 lbs on over night from ovulating and the last two days I've been crazy hungry - def hormones making my life even harder ha!

@Minster2012 yeah I suppose they won't have much difference will they, both do the same job!

So didn't want to do opks or check my apps or anything this cycle but I knew ovulation was next Monday or Tuesday, we DTD last night and last time before that was Sunday, had ovulation pains today so was like hmm maybe I take an opk just to check, and get this!! I had no easy@home in because I weren't planning on doing them so only have these shitty one but I'd say it's my peak?? DTD last night so gonna go for it tonight, tomorrow morning and tomorrow night!! I feel so unprepared!!

@Minster2012 perfectly fine, just boring, not much going on, all the fires seem to be out, at least for now, I am a bit worried about infection numbers, but don't want to be a recluse at home, and is good for D's to go to school, only 6 in his class and he still has his 121, so progress might be made, stupidly didn't cut my hair before lockdown so took me 2 hours to wash it and dry it, we are having burgers for dinner, I've been unwittingly doing dry January, as in we didn't mean to, so might put a remedy to that tomorrow.... In the latest excitement, I got some front fastening bras in simply be, and I love it, no wires to cut into me, still lots of support, DD cup so need it, and the back is supercomfy, no need to readjust through the day and not dying to take it off as soon as I walk through the door, I am all so glamorous...

@Minster2012 I'm in a bit of a muddle, as evidenced by me not being able to work my phone 😂 I looked back to see what time I post that, as that's when I did my first opk this morning, and somehow managed to quote myself 🙈 anyway.... my opk was a blazing peak yesterday both times I tested, dropped low earlier today then another really dark one and just now very low again. Started with ov pain early yesterday on the right. By evening it was both dides, same this morning. Then the right stopped but the left if still crampy. So about 36hrs of cramps, involving both sides and opk rolercoaster.....2 eggs???? 🤷‍♀️ I've never noticed pains on both sides before.

Thanks @Juno231 @Katao. One final question for those of you who have been to the GP... is there a best way to phrase it when you book in the first time? Like if I was to call up should I say I'd like to speak to a doctor about my menstrual cycle, spotting etc or just say straight up it's for fertility as I've been TTC for a year? Was just wondering if they are more likely to dismiss the TTC alone. Last question, promise 😆

@Franklydear that sounds very comfy!! And I agree it's actually better not to be a recluse and DS sounds perfectly fine being at school, it's better for you him anyway. Our nursery is doing the flow tests on all staff weekly so I feel good about that & it's so much better for DS being there than at home with me, I genuinely do t know how ppl work with kids at school I think you guys are hero's that do. Much respect.

@2020mission I can't help with that as I went a different way, but @notyetamumbuttrying @Katao @paintfairy @lucyrp @clolo @Justanothercyster might be able to help? I would personally say something like "I'd like an appointment to discuss my fertility concerns as we've been trying now for well over a year with no luck I think bloods to check I'm ovulating is the first check?" and just go from there

@Minster2012 oh I would dearly dearly love it to be a little bean snuggling in but I think I'm out of luck. But like I said, if nothing happens and at doesn't turn up, I'll test on Wednesday 😊

@2020mission when I called up I said I wanted to discuss my menstrual cycle...but we had only been trying for 9 months at that point and I thought they'd take a missing period more seriously

@Justanothercyster quick question, and I don't know if you'll know but it's worth a shot😂 I have ovulation pains on my left, which is the same side I think I'm getting those cysts on, will the cyst prevent the egg from being released? I rarely feel ovulation pains on my right but they're always strong on my left, so now I'm thinking is it because of these cysts x x

Sorry I didn't mean to attach that pic!! I was gonna send that and say that's what my OH replied when I sent him my ovulation test😂😂 I covered what he said a bit because his nickname for me is pretty much my last name!! Who said romance was dead😂

Thanks @Minster2012 @InkyPaper! I do get mid cycle and 2-5 days pre AF spotting so could certainly use that as the way in to the GP initially if it might help them see me sooner? I know it's likely cervical erosion and/or ovulation that cause that but what do I know? Could be a sign of something else and fertility issues.

@Justanothercyster i know a few copywriters due to having worked in a number of marketing/advertising agencies as a web developer and most of them had tried freelance work and found there was quite a lot of competition and some low paid or ended up ghost writing. But this is Glasgow, and only a few people I know so could work out well for you! Are you thinking of a career move or just work on the side?

@2020mission have you spoken to the doctor before about the spotting? If not, that'd probably be worth mentioning anyway

@Justanothercyster I'm a copywriter, just not freelance 😊 I know that freelancers tend to do better if they have an agency background, it can be quite an undertaking when you first start out unless you've got a couple of contacts to help get you started. Also, don't make the classic new freelancer mistake of setting your rates too low - one of my mates did that and it took him years to start pricing his services properly.

@2020mission I just booked a dr appointment with a female dr. Was a phone appointment as that's all they were doing at the time (July). I just can't right out with it. 🤣 I just said we had been ttc for a year and nothing is happening, so I thought it was time I got it looked at.

@Vil10 honestly I have no idea, I think sometimes they affect it and sometimes not. I find myself wondering the same as I only ever get ov pains on my right and that's the side I feel the cysts bursting. I've always had a temp shift apart from last cycle, so assume I've ovulated? Hope you do x

@2020mission that's really helpful thank you! Just something different on the side maybe to make a few extra ££s. Writing has always been something I've fantasised about but never really thought about bringing it to life and copywriting seems to be a cool way to get in there.

@InkyPaper oh wow! Could you tell me a little bit about it? Like what sort of stuff you write, how you got into it etc?

@Justanothercyster sure 😊 I studied writing at uni and managed to wrangle a (non-copywriting) job at a big company who I knew had an in-house team. I got to know the editor who agreed to take a chance on me when a space came up in her team and I've been an in-house writer for various companies ever since. I've written website copy, emails, landing pages, employee handbooks, articles, blogs, buyer's guides, how-tos, brochures, leaflets, social posts, training documents, whitepapers, videos, ads etc. I've also created style guides worked on tone of voice documentation, all that jazz. I've no idea how to PM on here but if you want to PM me I'm happy to talk more about it 😊

@2020mission When I first rang up I said I had a gynecological concern 😂 that did the job. I led with the fact that my periods were irregular.
