It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

Hi ladies! May I join?
My husband and I are trying for our first. I'm 29 and he is 32. I came off the pill at the end of August. My first real cycle was 34 days and my second cycle was 28 days. I'm confident I ovulated both of those cycles because I tracked my BBT. This current cycle I decided to take a break from tracking BBT but I'm currently CD 39 and so confused. I feel like my period just disappeared. Anyone else have this sort of experience after coming off the pill?

Juno231 · 31/12/2020 17:53

@ACNass welcome! You've found the right place :) I'm afraid I can't help you based on my own experience but I'm pretty sure lots of the ladies in here have had random cycles like that post pill!

@Kay00 yeah her wiki page says she's a pioneer in natural ivf so I'm hopeful she'll be decent lol. My big fear is going to the assessment with OH and being told to relax or to stop bbt/opk cause it's pointless 🤪. That would give OH so much ammunition! 🤣

@ChinChilly pfft 9 DPO ain't worth shit, fingers crossed you see something in 2 days time 🤞

My new year's resolutions :

  1. Lose 10kg (I get a pass if I actually get pregnant though ha!)
  2. Read minimum one book per month
  3. Eat less meat
  4. Lower RHR (again a pass if preggers)

Happy New Year’s ladies!!! I hope we all get pregnant in 2021 🤞🏻❤️ as soon as possible lol. That’s crazy that we only have 3 months to have a 2021 baby!!

@ACNass welcome! Have you done a pregnancy test just in case?

@Juno231 those New Years resolutions are great. I might steal some of them!

Cams50 · 31/12/2020 18:18

@Juno231 oh and that’s amazing about your fertility doctor!! That’s such great and reassuring news

MintGreenLife · 31/12/2020 18:22

@Juno231 that’s awesome about the fertility doc you will be seeing, although hopefully you won’t need to 🤞🏼 Brilliant the appointment has been brought forward too.

Thought I would send a little update for anyone that’s been concerned about their TSH. As you all know mine was 3.5 back in September, and then after cutting out gluten and dairy it was 2.5 a few months ago. I had it retested with the NHS and got the results today, as my local endocrinology department say it needs to be under 3.7 in the first trimester and it came back at 2.18 which I was really chuffed with. I’m still gluten and dairy free, but I’m thinking about reintroducing low lactose dairy in my second trimester to make sure I’m getting plenty of calcium.

Hope you are all well, and happy new year to you all 💕 xxx

Flowers222 · 31/12/2020 18:38

@MintGreenLife that's great news about your TSH! 2.18 is perfect! My TSH has been a worry so you have given me hope. I had my TSH tested a few months ago and it was 3.89 which made me panic a little. Spoke to my GP, who said she wouldn't do anything about it and I would need to speak to a fertility specialist. Had it tested the next month and it was 2.51 which I though was good enough! No idea what caused it to be so high so I am worried it will go up again.

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:01

@Moocher90 I know, its crazy I’m really not keen on going back on it at any point, I told OH he’ll have to get the snip, he didn’t look impressed 😂 my doctor said that the thyroid issue could be linked to the body settling down after contraception so fingers crossed that sorts its self out.

@Juno231 I don’t really know why I did it 😂😂 your new years resolutions sounds similar to mine plus I’m stealing one of @Kay00 resolutions ...GET PREGNANT!! 😂😂

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:08

@Flowers222 mine was tested and it came back as 4.4 doctor also said they wouldn’t do anything about it as it was in the ‘normal’ range but she wouldn’t retest it until its been a year so I’m stuck in limbo! Good to hear yours came down, gives me hope!

Cams50 · 31/12/2020 19:09

@ChinChilly yes I agree!! Get pregnant 😆 and I also agree that I don’t want to go back on the pill. At least until I’ve had all the children we want to have.

Moocher90 · 31/12/2020 19:20

Likewise

Never going on contraception again and will be doing FAM fertility awareness model or worst case the copper IUD.

Also to get healthy- will lose weight. Got a spin bike arriving hopefully next week.

Eventually go gluten and dairy free to see if it boosts my fertility

Get pregnant!

ChinChilly · 31/12/2020 19:24

@Cams50 I’ve been completly put off it since stopping it! Agree with @Moocher90 maybe the copper coil as a last resort! I dont think I’ll get the OH to agree to the snip, he won’t even get the dog castrated, he feels like its an attack on his own manhood 😂😂

ACNass · 31/12/2020 21:00

@Cams50 well looks like I spoke too soon lol AF just arrived 20 minutes ago! Usually it bums me out but this time I'm just glad that cycle is over and we can try again! I think this time around we're going to try smep and preseed. Have you ladies tried these before?

HopeAndDriftWood · 31/12/2020 21:05

Hi all! Can I join? 😳

I’m 30, DH is 34. We’re “trying but not trying”, but I can’t think about anything else and DH bought some baby socks he thought I’d like Grin

Came off the pill after ten years on November 4th. First cycle seemed okay but no ovulation, accordion to OPKs... this month I got higher scores, and today was peak!

Fingers crossed. I don’t know how I’m going to survive the two week wait, it’s driving me mad already Blush

MintGreenLife · 31/12/2020 21:52

@Flowers222 that’s great that it came down by itself ☺️ I honestly think my improvement is down to getting my IBS under control. Fingers crossed yours stays nice and low ☺️ Xx

Kay00 · 31/12/2020 23:07

@mintgreenlife oh yey! That's great news about your TSH, sounds like everything is going well for you 😊

@flowers222 @chinchilly my thyroid levels came down from 3.7 to 1.8 in just a month, so I wonder if the pill has a negative effects on thyroid levels and they come down slowly once we stop taking them. I stopped the pill in June too so my body is clearly still adjusting.

@hopeanddriftwood Welcome! Exciting that you are in your TWW!!

@acnass hurrah! Congrats on your AF 😆 new year, fresh new start!

mrsmacmc · 01/01/2021 00:39

Happy New Year everyone! Wishing much luck with baby dust in 2021 🌟

AMS19 · 01/01/2021 09:34

Happy new year ladies! I ended up having a truly traumatic 2 days but one for another day as no one needs to hear scary stuff like that!! Wishing us all lots of baby dust for 2021!! Xx

Moocher90 · 01/01/2021 10:00

@AMS19 sorry to hear about your traumatic experience xx please look after yourself and when you feel like talking about anything you know we are always here to listen xx

Flowers222 · 01/01/2021 10:02

Happy New Year All!

@ChinChilly that's really annoying they wouldn't retest! I had to push my GP to get retested, but they needed to retest my prolactin anyway as that was way too high so I got them to add a TSH test on.

@Kay00 maybe you are right that it has something to do with the pill. It seems an odd coincidence that there is so many of us with high TSH.

Welcome @HopeAndDriftWood very exciting you are in your TWW!

@AMS19 sorry to hear that! Hope you are ok xx

Cams50 · 01/01/2021 10:07

@ACNass aw glad it arrived so you can start fresh now!

@AMS19 I’m so sorry. I hope this year is much better for you xxx

ChinChilly · 01/01/2021 10:33

@Flowers222 I tried to push my GP but she wasn’t having any of it 🙄

@AMS19 I’m really sorry to hear that, rest up and come back to us when you are ready ❤️

Welcome @HopeAndDriftWood

Well I POAS a stick again this morning, obvs BFN! Starting the new year as I’m mean to go on 😂😂 I’m only 10dpo so not thinking top much into it and I’m having some cramps today so I’m hoping AF isn’t about to join me on new years day!

AMS19 · 01/01/2021 10:43

Thanks @Moocher90 @Flowers222 @Cams50 @ChinChilly I'm olay and glad it is done now so I can finally move on and start wishes for BFNs (so weird) but because of covid it ended up being very traumatic and I don't want to scare anyone (obviously praying none of you need to every worry about this anyway). At least I've woken up in a new year and am moving in the right direction!
I've ordered thyroid tests and Celleac tests just to make sure I can rule anything sinister out. I fell first month trying which seems to suggest there isn't an issue, but wanted to check. I'm also reading It Starts With The Egg which is so informative. I've ditched some plastic and have started taking 200mg of ubiquinol. I should take 400mg really but it is SO expensive!
The consultant who was looking after me yesterday in hospital said 90% of women have a successful pregnancy following their first miscarriage, so need to hang on to that stat!

Xx
