It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@FlyingGiraffe I don’t BBT I’m afraid so I can’t help! @Mol234 I’m guessing I’ll see if she arrives by the morning.

crabette · 04/01/2021 21:30

@ChinChilly Your LH defo looks darker CD18? And I'd say you're pretty regular! Weird no AF yet. See what happens tomo, maybe try an IC just to be sure?

@FlyingGiraffe My BBT is usually at cover or below before start of AF - but I will say I'm super light too, and have been for like 6 months. Like, a little brown spotting for a day or two, maybe a day of wiping red. Hardly anything on a pad, pretty sure I could use a pantyliner and be fine. But I do get cramp etc and other symptoms, it's weird. Hope you get a full flow tomorrow!

FlyingGiraffe · 04/01/2021 21:55

@crabette I had super light periods for 5 months or so, then the last couple of cycles before this one I had about 5 days of spotting, followed by one or two days of proper AF. I can still get away with a liner most days too though. Fingers crossed my temperature drops now and its over with a bit quicker. I think my body is still regulating itself after the pill! Never thought it would take this long!

crabette · 04/01/2021 22:02

@FlyingGiraffe 😭 I never thought it would take this long either! I came off pill in July. Wish they would tell you this before you started taking it!

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 22:24

Well I thought I best pop a tampon in just incase as we had a new mattress delivery yesterday and I had visions of ruining it straight away and there was quite alot of excess on the applicator so I’m guessing she will be here tomorrow!

@FlyingGiraffe @crabette totally agree, I didn’t expect it to take this long, I stopped taking the pill mid June and fully expected to be pregnant by now, every month gets more disheartening

Juno231 · 04/01/2021 23:19

@FlyingGiraffe mine often doesn't drop below the cover line until cd3 or even later. I've definitely had spotting where I thought AF had started only to have a proper plummet the following day and AF coming on without a doubt.

@ChinChilly I'd agree that you're regular but your opks confuse me - probably due to the brand though. Those all pretty much look like a peak to me and I always thought it's the first day of peak that counted?

Well ladies I massively failed, DH was not up for it and didn't let me know until the last second so I was pretty cheesed off 😬

Rd123 · 04/01/2021 23:48

@Juno231 my DH has been up to it the last 3 nights but tonight didn't go as planned, he desperately wants a baby and said for some reason tonight he felt under pressure.. I told him to relax and we'll call it a night.. not easy for them either I suppose!

ChinChilly · 05/01/2021 08:10

@Juno231 I get what you mean with the OPKs they’re all just as dark, I’ve got no idea taking the first day as peak so you are probably right! One of them i left in the piss pot for too long so the reading probably isn’t accurate. Sucks you didn’t get to DTD, did you manage to BD before the peak reading?

My RHR is trolling me again, I’m sure it will continue dropping for the next few days 😂

Hi everyone 🙂

I’ve been following this thread for a long time. Came off the pill in February last year and have had long cycles ever since- around 40 days long, ovulating around cd30.

The last two months have been better. Ovulated on cd 22 two months ago and cd 18 last month.

We weren’t TTC until this month (toyed with the idea of starting last month but didn’t in the end as had a lot on).

Currently CD12 and already getting anxious for O to happen! I’m very anxious that my long cycles might return and making myself more anxious by telling myself not to be anxious because I’ll make it worse!

OPKs are currently low (as expected) have been checking CM and haven’t really had much of anything the last few days but did just get a small blob of EWCM but not sure if that’s just an anomaly because normally I do have that ‘wet’ feeling leading up to O. But it’s still early days even if I was to O on cd 17 again.

Just 🤞 it happens soon. We are DTD every other day and when I start to get some more signs O is coming we’ll be doing it every day.

Luckily for me my OH is quite happy with the arrangement 😂 if anything he doesn’t understand why it can’t be every day the whole time! 😴

Juno231 · 05/01/2021 13:46

Welcome @Elsie2021 ! Fingers crossed your ovulation is more on the CD17 end than CD22. The EWCM sounds promising though, I usually start getting a tiny bit around 5 days before :)

@ChinChilly that's quite the plummet! Mine actually jumped up 3 today and my temp has sky rocketed so I def ovulated yesterday. Now for the dreaded wait. Assuming another 12 day LP I'm thinking AF is to be expected on the 17th of Jan.

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 05/01/2021 15:06

@Juno231 I expect it will go down further over the next few days 🙄 glad it was O for you yesterday...oh god the dreaded TWW it’s always such a drag. I’m thinking about throwing BBT into the mix for this cycle 🤔

Welcome @Elsie2021 the EWCM sounds good I normally get abit on the run up to O, hopefully it happens for you soon!

Kay00 · 05/01/2021 15:55

@Elsie2021 Welcome!! Here to hoping to Ov in the next few days!

I'm on CD22 and still getting rubbish lines on my OPKs. I think something is happening though as my cervix is high, soft an open and I have been getting (what i'm pretty sure is) ovulation pains all morning.

I only have 10 x OPKs left though... at my current rate that will only last me for 3 more days!! Eeek!

Kay00 · 05/01/2021 15:55

@chinchilly - do it! get on the BBT! Grin

Juno231 · 05/01/2021 15:59

@kay00 exciting! sounds like you may have missed your peak again in that case - I wouldn't expect one now that your cervix is SHOW.
@ChinChilly Don't judge me but I find BBT so satisfying to track lol.

Sperr · 05/01/2021 16:00

@ChinChilly we seem to be syncing! I’m just waiting for AF now as well. Definitely sure I’m out this time rhr dipped yesterday but has gone back up a little today. AF due in 2 days.

I’ve decided to focus on fitness in January - I’m getting out running again (so cold) and doing some HIIT work outs. I need something new to be obsessed with 😂. I’m going to give the clear blue OPK one last try as well but maybe start them a bit later this time.

People who temp- do you wake up at the same time on the weekend to do it? I’m not great at falling back to sleep which is why I’ve not really tried it!

Kay00 · 05/01/2021 16:11

@juno231 😆 whilst entirely possible I have missed my peak (despite testing 3x daily for the past week), im also pretty sure my body is the mistress of failed ovulation attempts: in my last cycle I had a high, soft and open cervix CD 11 to 16. Before finally getting my peak and SHOW cervix at CD 24. I'll keep testing for now...

Kay00 · 05/01/2021 16:12

@sperr yes, the same time every day. My body hardly wakes up now, I do it automatically.

Juno231 · 05/01/2021 16:13

@sperr I tend to wake up of my own accord on weekends to temp and then fall back asleep. If I don't I use a temp adjuster - they're not advised to be used too often but I find that in my case they seem spot on so I trust the adjustments.

I couldn't go running in this cold though! Been getting my 10k steps per day and keeping my food intake below maintenance since the 1st though. Lost 0.8kg so far and hoping for 1.5-2kg loss this month :) Also doing dry Jan!

OP posts:
Sperr · 05/01/2021 16:54

@Kay00 @Juno231 thanks! I’ve already got a thermometer so I’m just going to have to get on with it! I need a break from this DTD every other day 😂.

@Juno231 I can’t even bring myself to weigh myself yet - I’m not ready to see my Christmas shame. I’m not normally a winter runner but I have no choice this year! I live right on a sea front so it’s all flat so it’s not all bad. I’ve started tracking my calories now as well so should hopefully be looking better by the end of jan! I couldn’t bring myself to do dry jan again this year- I am going to cut back (or not drink altogether) on wine as it’s so high in carbs. I love red wine though and gin just isn’t the same in winter!

ChinChilly · 05/01/2021 17:04

@Juno231 @Kay00 I’ve got the easy@home thermometer in my basket on Amazon! I find stuff like that satisfying too, I find my RHR interesting. I did think about not tracking at all for a couple of months but I actually think not knowing would stress me out more than tracking apparently does (I don’t find tracking stresses me out, not getting pregnant does!! 😂)

@Sperr good to have a cycle buddy! I’m fairly certain this is CD1 for me had some pretty grim cramps earlier!

Went on a seven seas TTC tablets hunt earlier, they are sold out pretty much everywhere!! Managed to get the last 3 pack on 3 for 2 in boots!

Sperr · 05/01/2021 17:28

@ChinChilly I keep having weird stabbing pains so I’m feeling like AF may come early! I got an Apple Watch for Christmas and it doesn’t do my RHR the same as my Fitbit did- the Apple one changes constantly throughout the day- it’s very annoying but it’s stuck at a number for a few hours so I’m going with that for now 😂. I just won’t check first thing like j used to!

Weirdly I also went out for conception tablets today! I use pregnacare though. I can never see seven seas in my local Superdrug!

ChinChilly · 05/01/2021 17:37

@Sperr I just checked AF is definitely in full swing here 😂😂 hopefully she stays away for you and you get a BFP! I’ve seen on another threat somebody mention the apple watch does RHR different to fitbit. My local savers normally have loads but recently none, must be because people are labelling them miracle pills 😂

Sperr · 05/01/2021 18:40

@ChinChilly I definitely don’t feel like this cycle is the one. I’ve already got some b vitamins and opk in my basket ready to be bought when AF arrives 😂. I hadn’t even thought to look in savers!! I work right near one- that’s definitely where I’ll be going next next cycle 😂

ChinChilly · 05/01/2021 18:51

@Sperr I’m the same 😂😂 the seven seas are £2.99 in Savers compared to £5.50 in boots so definitely worth a look!

FlyingGiraffe · 05/01/2021 19:08

@Juno231 Thanks for reassuring me! It's made me feel better knowing it's not too odd to start AF before the temperature drops below the line. I also find it satisfying to track! Well done on the 10k steps - I'm only do about 2000 most days I'm in work..it's freezing cold and dark by the time I get home so my enthusiasm to do more at the moment is very low! @Sperr I wish I had your motivation!

CD1 for me too @ChinChilly (I decided to count today as day one, as yesterday was barely anything until late in the evening) Have you found your cycle change with the Seven Seas tablets at all? I feel like I want to try these 'miracle pills!'
