It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@mrsmacmc a danger nap 🤣. Also lol at announcing at 4 weeks - I'd guess she fell pregnant easily and was blissfully unaware of miscarriage rates? Or am I being harsh 😅

I don't want to go back to work 😭

mrsmacmc · 04/01/2021 07:52

@Juno231 morning - nah you aren't being harsh, she is a very different character to me (loves to be centre of attention). No sleep whatsoever for me last night - devoured 2 books on my kindle, couldn't get comfy. I had trepidation logging on this morning but there were only 4 emails sitting to be actioned. Today will be a mouse wiggle day for me! May your coffee be strong and your Monday short ❤️

Emmgrem · 04/01/2021 08:05

@ChinChilly have you seen the thread on here about that? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4122658-can-t-take-this-anymore

I feel you! With Elle Darby saying she had ttc struggles because she didn't ovulate in the first month of coming off the pill 🤷🏻‍♀️ that's not even cycle 1!
And Mrs hinch saying in her book how she didn't get pregnant straight away after getting married so was worried they couldn't conceive. But then got married august and baby no.1 was here by June 🙈

Kay00 · 04/01/2021 08:44

@Emmgrem @ChinChilly It's amazing how many women (myself included) are really poorly educated about how reproduction actually works. We really need to be having more open conversations about the difficulties of getting pregnant and staying pregnant!

I'm back in work today too, and I don't want to be Sad... and I came back to nearly 1000 emails. So that'll keep me busy for the week!

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 08:52

@Kay00 AF hasn’t properly arrived yet, she’s just teasing me 😂 I’m not sure what I’m doing for the next cycle I’m either not going to track at all or I’m going to start temping! Totally agree on the lack of education, thank god for the internet!

@mrsmacmc my friend did the same by the time she was about 7 months pregnant i was like ‘how are you still pregnant’ 😂

@Emmgrem I’ve just looked through that thread, so glad I’m not the only one! Not gonna lie it felt like a massive kick in the gut especially that Elle Darby with her one month struggle! Maybe it’s just because AF is around the corner and so I’m feeling abit more sensitive! And as for Mrs Hinch that’s just ridiculous, I’ve seen somewhere she actually labelled that as fertility issues 🙄

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 08:54

Feel for you ladies back at work, I’m still off sick at the moment following the car accident, pretty sure my doctor will sign me off today though! Dread to think how many emails I will go back to when I’m finally back

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:09

Thank you all for your messages of support! Sorry I didn't reply individually but I read them all ❤️

Still waiting for it to kick off! Already stocking up on OPKs etc ready for trying again haha, maybe a bit premature!

@Juno231 I know your recent comment wasn't anything to do with me, but i can't help but feel that yes, it's a little bit harsh 😂 I fell easily, and although I didn't announce publicly at 4 weeks, I did tell parents straight away and told siblings on Christmas Eve at 6 weeks. I was perfectly aware that 1 in 5 ends in miscarriage but I chose to celebrate my early weeks rather than fill myself with dread. And despite the fact I'm now miscarrying I'm glad I did that! Because I felt SO pregnant and happy for that first 6 weeks, because I was. And I'd hate for my family to never know about that. Hopefully you don't read this as an attack, I'm just trying to give a different opinion/viewpoint that people can still want to share their news early, regardless of miscarriage :) xx

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:21

@crabette will be interested to see how you get on with the clearblue! I only ever caught my peak on the Femometer strips through pure chance haha!

@mrsmacmc sorry that your AF pain is so intense! My go to is definitely a hot water bottle. And a strong coffee will help the painkillers to kick in too!

@Rd123 I had a LH surge on CD12 after coming off the pill, but I didn't actually ovulate that time! Had another surge later in the month and ovulated (and conceived!) On CD35. So just keep tracking and BDing - it's definitely possible for it to happen on the first go!

@Mol234 @Robyn101 good luck for your TWW - is it the first for both of you??

@Taliasometimes I didn't have a proper period after coming off the pill - just my withdrawal bleed which felt a bit like a period but apparently it's just set off by coming off the hormones! As I said above, I had an LH surge CD12 but didn't ovulate, thought it was an anovulatory month but actually had another surge and ovulated on CD35! I was incredibly lucky to conceive that cycle, even if I've lost it since! I do know that it can take some people longer to get that first confirmed ovulation but it will happen sooner or later 😊

LauraT94 · 04/01/2021 09:24

Shit sorry for triple posting😂

But @ChinChilly I've obviously completely missed that you were in a car accident! Hope you're ok.

And @Juno231 I keep meaning to ask - is it a Bartholin cyst you're suffering with? I get these quite frequently so i can feel your pain! I used to try and drain mine but it would make them come right back and they were so painful! Now I leave them well alone, bathe the area in warm water a few times a day and sit with a hot wet flannel on it if it's painful and they go away completely by themselves within a few days! Even had one during this pregnancy. Hope it's not still hurting you ❤️

Rd123 · 04/01/2021 09:26

@LauraT94 oh no way! That’s encouraging to hear.. I had ovulation pains yesterday and day before and had CM which would indicate I was ovulating, just not sure if an egg was released or not! Will BD tonight and tomorrow just to make sure, you can never do enough ;) and I guess we’ll know in 2 ish weeks!

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 09:59

@LauraT94 I would also tell me parents as soon as I knew for sure, we are really close and although I am 29 I would need my mom for a hand hold if it all went wrong. Yeah car crash was last Tuesday, got a million phone calls to make today as everything was on and off open over new year. About that...the other parties insurance company called me on Saturday and offered to pick up my car, repair it and supply me with a curtosy car, obviously my own insurance has already done all that, I’m not sure if it was a genuine phonecall has anybody heard of that before? Seemed abit odd

Juno231 · 04/01/2021 10:15

@LauraT94 it's the public post on social media that's the huge difference though! You literally see ladies post their pregnancy announcements using a still wet wee stick lol and bear in mind most women don't even know about CPs. I would never compare that to yours - family should def know if you'd like them for support (eg I wouldn't tell mine cause they'd be rubbish at supporting lol) plus you were past the CP stage.

And yes bartholin's cysts! This is weirdly the second one I've had in a year, normally I get them once in a blue moon. I've maybe only had half a dozen since I was 11? It seems fine today so maybe it's gone now.

Still no peak here girls - I know I'm spoilt by normally having ovulation early compared to many of you so I'm not going to complain but it's just confusing me a bit that it's not happened yet. CD16 and the latest I've ever ovulated was CD17 that one time in July lol.

@mrsmacmc it's a mouse wiggle day here too, got zero motivation! Was totally banking on being on mat leave by now!

@ChinChilly How's the neck? Any better?

@kay00 only 100 emails for me... I don't know how you'll get through that 1000!

OP posts:
Flowers222 · 04/01/2021 10:40

@ChinChilly I definitely hear you about the number of pregnancy announcements. I've had 5 in the last 2 weeks. I am happy for them all but it is hard not to feel a little jealous. We did an online New Year's Eve quiz and every other couple had a baby! It's hard.

@mrsmacmc a mouse wiggle day! 😂 I love that. Definitely having one of those today. Really didn't want to get up for work this morning.

@Juno231 sorry ovulation seems to be delayed for you. Hope it happens soon!

I have had ovulation confirmed on cd22. Same as last cycle so looks like that is my new norm now. Excited to be back in the 2ww!

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 10:44

@Juno231 neck isn’t any better, my right shoulder where my seatbelt was is playing up now aswell 🙄 ahh thats crap that your ovulation is delayed! Where do the medical professionals get this average 28 day cycle ovulation at day 14 crap from because nobody seems to have that perfect cycle.

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 10:46

@Flowers222 Yeah I do get a hit of jealousy with every announcement, it’s really difficult I have a friend on facebook who post something everyday about how great her pregnancy is...I have to really refrain myselt sometimes from telling her to STFU! 😂

Juno231 · 04/01/2021 10:51

Okay girls I spoke too soon lol, just did another opk and got 166% - definitely a peak! Poor OH...

@Flowers222 yay for confirmed ovulation! Good rise there too. I hear you on the announcements being difficult, although I think so many of my friends and uni pals had babies last year that there was no one left to make any announcements this xmas/NYE!

@ChinChilly oof that's crap! I hope the GP takes it seriously. Also your comment about 28 day cycle made me laugh. Apparently the most common day to ovulate is CD16. So with my peak today I wouldn't be surprised if I ovulate today at CD16 - which with a 12 day LP would give me the average 28 day cycle... don't shoot me, it's clearly done nothing for my baby making abilities lol!

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 10:59

@Juno231 get on that 🍆 to be honest I’m not sure what I’m moaning about mine are 27-30 days so I’m around the 28 day cycle 😂😂

I’m 13dpo today and still just spotting 🙄

Kay00 · 04/01/2021 11:07

I have been trying not to get upset about all the pregnancy announcements too... i'm of course happy for them all, but a random announcement out of the blue makes it look as though just 'fell first time', although it probably wasn't the case.

@juno231 most of my emails are bank statements and other reports that will get viewed and filed or deleted, probably only about 100 will need to be actioned.

@chinchilly hmmm... could be a scam?? Best to ignore. Sorry to hear your neck is still so sore :( I had a MASSIVE crash on the motorway a few years back. Luckily my car was the only car involved (wheel fell off) but it was smashed to pieces across all three lanes (head on crash into the central reservation at about 60mph). I was really lucky to get out alive, with just a small bruise and whiplash. It effected my confidence to drive on motorways for a good couple of years afterwards! Hoping you make a speedy recovery x

@flowers222 That's a nice clear ovulation, even if its on CD22. I'm on CD21 and nothing yet Hmm

Kay00 · 04/01/2021 11:09

@Juno231 ah Grin well done. Best jump him tonight!

ChinChilly · 04/01/2021 11:12

@Kay00 yeah I thought it was abit odd, I didn’t tell him anything he just asked the usual insurance questions! Ouch your accident sounds nasty, get the confidence thing, I’m a pretty confident driver but I drove to the supermarket yesterday and the drive just filled me with anxiety, the fact that i HATE the curtosy car they’ve given me probs didn’t help 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/01/2021 11:16

Feeling the same about pregnancy announcements. My best friend also told me (privately) last night that she is pregnant. I'm so happy for her but so sad for me given recent circumstances

Juno231 · 04/01/2021 11:18

@Kay00 omg that crash would put me off driving for life! So glad you didn't get more injured!

I got my license 3 years ago now but have maybe only driven a dozen times in total... I'm really not comfortable driving in central London and even less so with OH in the car scrutinising my every move so I just haven't. Was thinking how I might have to do refresher lessons before I have a baby as I don't want to have to rely on OH driving me places then!

@Juno231 @Flowers222

Contemplating if we can get away with building up the new bed frame that got delivered this morning between mouse wiggles as I've caught up on emails / actions that came in over the Christmas and New Year period 🤔 - Hubby put his knee through the base of the old one, fortunately it's the spare room bed so won't be used for a while got it at an absolute steal price!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/01/2021 11:25

Also, my natural cycles app seems convinced AF will come next week with ZERO evidence as far as I can see. FF is officially giving no comment Grin

Giggling away at your mouse wiggle day @mrsmacmc - me too. I actually forgot it's still a bank holiday today in Scotland, so I should have 100% taken today off! It's so quiet.

It's nice news for your friend @TheDaydreamBelievers - but I feel for you, totally understand it must be hard. Does she know about your circumstances? I was thinking about early pregnancy announcements lately and thinking about what I'd do. A few friends have been recently pregnant and all waited til 12 weeks before telling me, though on more questioning did confess that they told immediate family / a BEST friend / someone who's recently been pregnant / confidante colleagues before they've fully 'announced' to most people. In my family, from experience, most have told family, including wider family before 12 weeks - with one miscarriage I remember. I think I'd have to tell my parents when I knew - I totally get what you're saying @LauraT94 in terms of them sharing the joy even if it's followed with sadness. And I'd hate my parents not knowing that had happened to me / trying to go through it alone. But, also totally get everyone's relationships are different! I would raise an eyebrow at a public / facebook announcement at 4 weeks.

CD2 today - still ridiculously light, panty-liner style non period 🙄 Clearblue OPKs arriving today, and still taking the pregnacare tabs with folic acid, inositol, vits D & B12, CoQ10 & zinc.

Thinking about holidays later in the year to try and cheer myself up today... If I'm not pregnant by March I'm booking some sunshine for September!!!
