It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

Ladies not strictly TTC related but needing a hand hold please :( CD3 and I've got excruciating period pain - the type that feels like you've been kicked in the back and constantly need to 'go' and nothing comes, flow is very light too. Naproxen 500mg down the hatch after DH begged me to take it as I don't like taking painkillers, done some yoga stretches, distraction with FRIENDS on tv and also got wheatbag wrapped round me. Any other suggestions? I'm also getting up and moving every 40mins and slugging down juice ❤️

FlyingGiraffe · 03/01/2021 13:48

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! Grin It's so nice to speak to people who understand! I'm hoping my cycle is finally settling....this month has been nothing like the previous six so fingers crossed! Fingers crossed your cycle settles soon @Moocher90 I spoke to the GP a couple of months ago cos my periods were so light, they were barely worth a pad, let alone anything else! Hopefully they can do some tests for you and shed some light if nothing changes.

Did you find your ovulation got later taking the B Complex @Kay00 ? I was so hoping the high dose b6 would help...I got so deflated after 2 months of no improvement to my lp that I decided to give my body a break. How long is your lp now? I started spotting today but have had up to 6 days of this before starting AF properly - who knows this cycle though?!

@crabette I used the Clearblue Advanced fertility opk's last month for the first time. I found I was dehydrating myself too much just to get a peak on the fermometer strips! I thought doing it with the fmu would help that. I used the fermometer strips in the evening when I was getting the flashing smiley, and then when I thought I had a close to a peak on them, I used the same urine for the Clearblue and got the static smiley. I really liked them (despite not reading the directions properly and wasting two cos I was clearly still half asleep! Oops!)

Hi everyone! I’m new here. Myself and DH(since last Sunday! Christmas wedding) decided we’d start trying straight after wedding and whenever it happens it happens. I finished the pill on the 17th December. I wasn’t sure if I was going to take it again this month or not so took 2 days then decided to stop. I bought clear blue ovulation kit last month and 3 days ago nothing, yesterday High fertility and the same this morning, so we BD last night and the night before. Going to try one again in a few hours. Anyone know what the chances of conceiving are? Will the 2 pills I took affect it? I’m defo ovulating too just don’t know if an egg will be released or not. Thanks! Happy new year!!

FlyingGiraffe · 03/01/2021 14:10

@mrsmacmc I have no bright ideas but hope the Naproxen kicks in and you start to feel better soon! You sound like you're doing everything you can do to help...maybe you could try a warm shower or bath?
@Rd123 Hi Smile Congrats on the wedding! It's something like 20% chance of conceiving each month dependent on age etc - but the Clearblue opk's are great to pinpoint your fertile days so that's the best thing you can do for now! Not sure if the 2 pills you took will affect anything though, sorry.

Kay00 · 03/01/2021 14:51

@mrsmacmc oh my 😳 your pain sounds horrible. I think your naproxen is a good start, I think you should take some paracetamol too. Hopefully its a short and sharp sort of affair but if it gets worse or doesn't go away then maybe call 111?

@rd123 welcome! I don't think the two extra pills will have effected you as it sounds as though you are ovulating! Exciting you might be in your first TWW!

@flyinggiraffe my LP went from 10 and 8 days to 14 and 13 days after I started the high strength B complex. I think the 500ug of B12 was important for lengthening the LP and the other B Vits in the complex help it to work. Pics attached of what I take.

@Kay00 yes I am in my first TWW! It’s so bizarre, I thought I’d be really laid back and think whatever happens happens but now I’ve wound myself up a bit and I think I’ll be a bit disappointed if it’s a BFN. Let’s see what happens! I’ve been a bit forgetful with folic acid so back on it today

mrsmacmc · 03/01/2021 15:13

@FlyingGiraffe , good shout with the bath - I've just slithered out of one. Fresh pjs on and curled up on the couch.

@Kay00 it really is quite unnerving pain hoping it is a one off as can normally keep going but not today. Have added paracetamol to the painkiller mix (my brain didn't even think to take paracetamol too) thank you ❤️

Emmgrem · 03/01/2021 16:22

Sorry to hear your news @LauraT94
I've followed this thread for a while and chatted to you back in the early days, so really sad to hear this 😔❤️ Sending lots of love and hope you can join us all on the journey again soon when you're ready.

Mol234 · 03/01/2021 16:38

@Kay00 how strange about the dizziness! I’m not sure either to be honest I’ve not experienced it myself / haven’t read too much about it as a symptom when TTC but hopefully it settles down soon as it’s not a nice feeling!

Welcome @FlyingGiraffe and @Rd123 ☺️

@Robyn101 I’ve just started using FF for charting - I actually lied on the app and said I had a period 19 days ago as my body has been doing nothing just so I can see a pattern over the last few weeks. Might help!

My OPKs have gone back to low readings today and my temp went up (highest it’s ever been since coming off the pill woohoo!) so fingers crossed I’ve ovulated, will see what temps are like over the next few days.

Robyn101 · 03/01/2021 18:51

Ahhhh good plan @Mol234 I’ve copied and popped a fake period on and it’s letting me see a chart now. Matches up perfectly to femometer chart so surely two apps can’t get it wrong and I did ovulate! So I’m now assuming I’m 4DPO

Hi guys, can I join in? Been reading this forum obsessively since October, as me and my partner are now TTC I'm ecstatic but itching to get this positive.

I'm nervous as I am 32 and will be a FTM, I have only just been learning about ovulation etc, and it's a lot to take in. These forums are a godsend.

I finished my final pack of birth control in December and have been tracking using an APP since October. Been taking pregnacare before conception tablets and boyfriend just started the Wellman ones.
I am praying my body doesn't take too long to settle after the pill! Bought some clearblue ovulation tests, so will be using these around when my tracker says I'm due ovulation, to make sure I suppose? Oh I suppose I need a period aswell to happen to get my dates right... I feel so impatient!

What else do I need to do? Confused

KGH5121 · 03/01/2021 19:12

@LauraT94 so sorry to hear of the awful news (L)

@AMS19 I'm gutted to hear that your experience was traumatic (L)

KGH5121 · 03/01/2021 19:19

@ACNass @FlyingGiraffe welcome to the group!

@abi555 @MissC07 yay for your AFs!

@Mol234 great news that the Drs aren't fobbing you off, always a nice feeling!

@HopeAndDriftWood Congrats on your peak! My DH and I started 'trying but not trying' too but myself in particular was getting obsessed haha!

@glow92 I was on Cerelle/similar for about 8 years too and had very few periods on it. Fortunately I had my 1st AF 24 days after coming off (but I think that was partly that I was on antibiotics not long before stopping it, had lots of diarrhea and forgot that it might affect the effectiveness of the pill and possibly had my withdrawal bleed then). But don't think I ovulated the first 2 cycles since I had come off the pill.

FlyingGiraffe · 03/01/2021 19:34

@Kay00 Thanks so much for the vitamin info - it's amazing that its helped your lp get to 13-14 days. I may see how I go this next cycle and if not, come back to these! I'm so happy I got to 11 days this cycle, I don't dare change anything again just yet!

@mrsmacmc Glad the bath helped and hope you're feeling better this evening Smile

@Taliasometimes I'm in my mid 30's trying for our first too and have been amazed by how much I didn't know! These forums are so helpful. Once you've had your first period it will make things easier to start tracking, but see how you go - i'd be tempted to try cheap ovulation sticks for now just in case it takes a while to get your peak!

@KGH5121 and @Mol234 thank you for the welcome too Flowers

Kay00 · 03/01/2021 19:38

@taliasometimes Welcome! If it helps your nerves in 35 and trying to become a first time mum 😆

Your off the pill and had your withdrawal bleed(?), if so then your waiting to ovulate and then have a period (or BFP). Your apps might not be so good at helping you identify when ovulation will be (unless you are one of the lucky few!) as your cycles have been controlled by your contraceptive. So you might want to look out for cervical mucus that is either watery or egg white in consistency, as these will show up when you're fertile and uts time to do the deed!

Mol234 · 03/01/2021 19:47

@Robyn101 yes defo looks like you have ovulated! How exciting you’re in your TWW!

@Taliasometimes hey! I’d recommend doing ovulation tests daily (you can get them really cheap off Amazon) as you may catch your ovulation before your first AF. I stopped my pill in September, still haven’t had my first proper period off the pill but managed to catch my peak (I think). You may be lucky and get your AF fairly soon but everyone’s different and it’s hard to tell when you’ll first ovulate when first coming off the pill, hormones can be a bit all over the place!

Taliasometimes · 03/01/2021 19:56

@Kay00 @Mol234 @FlyingGiraffe thanks so much, great advice already!

Will deffo get the cheap test strips and tests everyday until I find the peak!

mrsmacmc · 03/01/2021 19:56

@FlyingGiraffe feeling a bit more comfortable now thanks. I'm counting down till I can take next naproxen as want to make sure I get a good sleep tonight - back at the works laptop tomorrow morning, thankfully I'm at home and not having to face a commute ❤️

ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 20:13

My positivity is wearing thin!! Day 2 of just browny pink slime when I wipe!

Just saw an instagrammer post about her TTC journey, she conceived first month but really mentally struggled for that month....SERIOUSLY 🙄

MissC07 · 03/01/2021 20:28

@ChinChilly I hear you with the instagrammers. My whole feed is full of pregnancy announcements at the moment!

As for my AF I had a light flow on Friday, brownish spotting yesterday, nothing today except once when I wiped! So god knows what's going on with my body!! I've started temping now to so hopefully might get some sort of sign or if not at least it's something to do whilst stuck in Tier 4!

ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 20:31

@MissC07 I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed, I was on instagram on new years day and it was literally one after the other 🙄

I think i may start temping this cycle either that or not track anything at all 🤔

Juno231 · 03/01/2021 20:53

@ChinChilly ha on the other bus I'm on we've got quite a few ladies complaining about the same Instagrammer I think!

@Kay00 I'm sorry but I've got no advice for the dizziness :/

@mrsmacmc I'm glad you're feeling a bit better! Hot bath and paracetamol were def the right things to add xx

Still no peak here... My RHR is doing so well though now I'm doing dry Jan and am in my FP - it's gone down a full 12 bpm since xmas!

My cyst has had to be drained another 2-3 times this week 🙊 - really hope it goes away soon lol. The infection is pretty much gone though and it's much smaller/barely painful.

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 03/01/2021 22:13

@Juno231 it probably is, I think her name is Elle or something onlong those lines 😂 my RHR always goes erractic when there is alcohol involved. Annoying abou the cyst but hopefully it is starting to clear up

Kay00 · 03/01/2021 23:06

@mrsmacmc I'm glad you're able to take another Naproxen before bed, and thank goodness for working from home!! 🙌😆 hopefully you'll wake up with no pain though x

@juno231 sounds like your FW is holding back, giving your cyst time to heal 😇

Im still getting negative OPKs but I feel my FW is imminent... my CM is getting more fertile.

@chinchilly sorry your AF arrived. Do you have any positives from this past cycle? And any plans for the next?

mrsmacmc · 03/01/2021 23:54

@ChinChilly I've noticed a lot of announcements too - even early early ones, Hope we all get the chance to announce soon (if we want to of course - it's not something we plan on doing - my sil announced when they were 4 weeks and it made her pregnancy seem to last an eternity!)

@Juno231 it certainly helped. I had a danger nap too after dinner 🙈 hope your peak comes soon and the cyst behaves itself!

@Kay00 here's hoping 🤞🏻 I don't think I could cope again tomorrow if it's like today

Hope everyone gets a good peaceful snooze tonight 😴 💤 ✨
