It’s that time again, the 5th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@ChinChilly thanks ❤️ good to see you're all stocked up on pee sticks! Where are you in current cycle now? Must be coming up to fertile window soon?

@Sperr yeah I know the RHR drop is odd! The only thing I can attribute it to is that the spike of 81 happened when I first found out. I was so anxious the whole night before (awake most of it!) And in compete jittery shock for the next 48hrs 😂 so maybe that fucked with my RHR and it'll stay around 78/77 for now 🤷🏼‍♀️ how are you feeling now? Really hoping they're good cramps for you and not AF on the way! I'm still cramping now if that helps haha!

@MissN07 hi! I definitely recommend temping too. I didn't even temp for a whole cycle but it helped pinpoint ovulation and even gave me a heads up that I might be pregnant before I got my BFP!

@Kay00 what a gorgeous doggo ❤️

@TheDaydreamBelievers ooh what did you break your alcohol fast with?!

ChinChilly · 10/12/2020 22:33

Thanks @TheDaydreamBelievers I think I’ll have a look into it all in the new year, I think OH would sleep through a bomb explosion to be honest 😂

@LauraT94 CD6 today, AF finally finished yesterday... FW falls over OH night shifts again! Argh! Mostly over next weekend though so shouldn’t be too bad, I’ll just have to jump him before he leaves 🤣

Sperr · 10/12/2020 22:45

@LauraT94 really feeling like AF is coming unfortunately 😣. Still cramping on and off. No spotting or anything but the cramps have been sore! At least it’s another short cycle for me ! How’re you feeling? Xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 10/12/2020 22:45

@LauraT94 blush cider Grin #Classy. To be honest I will probably go back to teetotal (not a big drinker in general) but I just fancied it when we were at the supermarket earlier

LauraT94 · 10/12/2020 23:01

@ChinChilly hooray for AF fucking off 😂 I'm sure you'll find time to jump OH, where there's a will there's a way!!

@Sperr ahh I'm sorry to hear it 😢 I'm good thanks! Just enjoyed a quiet evening in with the OH and a massive Chinese order!

@TheDaydreamBelievers ooh nice!! Defo treat yourself if you fancy it! I used to be a cider fan, but I have to admit the thought is turning my stomach a tad at the mo 😂 could be the hormones, could be the fact I used to drink 3 litres of the stuff on a Friday night as a teen 🤪😂 glad you enjoyed it!

Sperr · 11/12/2020 08:17

@LauraT94 no AF yet but she is due tomorrow. RHR dropped a couple as well so expecting it now. Still quite I bit higher than normal though! Maybe I’ll have a dramatic Drop too 🤣

Juno231 · 11/12/2020 09:29

@sperr fingers crossed it's all BFP symptoms and not AF ones!

4DPO already - I'm always amazed at how quickly the first part of the TWW goes and how it then turns to treacle in the second week...

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 11:16

@LauraT94 I’ll find away, to be honest it’s not hard he’s always up for it 😂

Sperr · 11/12/2020 11:25

@Juno231 I just had pink CM so I think it’s AF on the way. Can’t moan as it’s another short cycle and I can drink at Christmas 🎄 😂🍷

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 14:26

Soooooo I had a blood test 2 weeks ago for something unrelated my TSH Level came back as 4.43 am I right in thinking that is abit high for TTC

MintGreenLife · 11/12/2020 15:28

@ChinChilly interesting how so many of us have TSH a little higher than the ideal for TTC! Apparently ideal is under 2.5. My local endocrinology department say under 3.7 for first trimester. Mine was 3.5 when I first had it tested a few months ago and then 2.5 at the next test after being gluten and dairy free for about 2 months and taking a selenium supplement xx

Kay00 · 11/12/2020 15:42

@ChinChilly my TSH level was at 3.72 and my doctor doesn't think it is a big issue for TTC, but she is sending me for further tests to find out more. I think its probably best you speak with your doctor about it next.

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 15:49

@MintGreenLife I think I’m going to try gluten free, I eat too much bread and pasta anyway 😂

@Kay00 I have a phone consultation with the doctor next Friday to discuss but the receptionist just said its a normal level there’s no reason for concern 😕

Bit gutted to be honest, seems quite high to me

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 15:52

@MintGreenLife @Kay00 did either of you have a ‘free t4’ test?

Kay00 · 11/12/2020 15:55

@ChinChilly yes, the online test with Letsgetchecked did a Free t4 test too, but I don't think that comes as standard in the NHS.

Your levels are within normal range, but they might be higher than you want them to be for TTC, best talk to your doctor and ignore the receptionist.

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 15:58

@Kay00 they did do a free t4 test with the standard blood tests which came back as 9.6 but again the normal range is showing as 9-19 so only just in there with the normal range

MintGreenLife · 11/12/2020 16:02

@ChinChilly yep I did free t4 with letsgetchecked, came back normal on that. I knew GP wouldn't take my 3.5 seriously, so I figured what to do to improve it myself. Of course can't say for sure that my diet changes helped, but it did lower fairly significantly xx

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 16:27

@MintGreenLife I’ve got a feeling I’ll get fobbed off aswell... I’ve just noticed my previous results are on my online record and they show my TSH levels were 3.3 in May 2019 so they’ve gone up since then, that makes me think it could be diet related and my diet has been crap this year and I am about a stone and a half heavier than I was then 🤔

Juno231 · 11/12/2020 17:13

@chinchilly My GP covered T4 as well but I can only remember it being within the normal range. I need to lose weight as well if you need an accountability buddy in the new year? I'm clearly not going to try very hard this month lol.

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 17:32

@Juno231 mine is marked as normal, my GP surgery has a patient access thingy online so I can log on and check it all compared to last years! I’ve just had a better look at it all online one of the tests also indicates low b12 and folic acid, so that isn’t good either 😂😂
An accountability buddy would be great! I think I need to lose between 1-1/12 stone! I’m going to try and clean up my diet this month (try being the main word) and the full steam ahead for January! 😂

MintGreenLife · 11/12/2020 17:50

@ChinChilly I'm not sure if weight gain can contribute to higher TSH, but higher TSH can cause weight gain, so would be a double bonus if you were able to get it down a bit :)

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 17:59

@MintGreenLife i feel like i am normal weight, size 10-12 depending on where I shop but according to the NHS calculator I need to loose a stone! I need to clean up my diet anyway so hopefully this is the kick up the butt i need!

I’ve tried to d some googling but I have to say it is abit mind boggling

Moocher90 · 11/12/2020 18:32

I defo need to jump on health kick in the new year! Not much of a drinker just enjoy my food! However I feel since coming off of contraception the weight has piled on. It could be thyroid related though. I feel so exhausted and cold all the time, constipated and do get tingling hands and aches in my legs :( be nice to know in a few days if I have any deficiencies like D3 or b12 etc. It’s madness how many of us who have come off contraception have an elevated TSH! Keep getting aching kidneys too! Which I have never suffered before and it can’t be another UTI surely....

ChinChilly · 11/12/2020 18:36

@Moocher90 I have just had a quick google as to whether there is a link to thyroid issues and the pill, can’t find anything though, But it is weird that lots of us are having thyroid issues!

Moocher90 · 11/12/2020 18:44

@ChinChilly it could be due to hormones being regulated by the pill then when you come off it’s like going cold turkey!! I’ve been on contraception for 15 years :/
