@olderthanyouthink When was your last negative HPT? That'll probably give you the closest idea of how far along you are before your scan.

olderthanyouthink · 29/11/2020 22:12

@Curiosity101 thanks. I've been trying to work that out, I've done pregnancy test since my period but I didn't note when 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ so though the dates would suggest I'm that far along I'm fairly sure I'm not. I said to SIL that I didn't think I was pregnant but ovulating late October, I'd done a LH test which was strong... maybe I was pregnant then 🤷‍♀️ but I don't have much in the way of symptoms other than kinda sore nipples and maybe a lower milk supply.

Want to use a different hospital this time I think, DP wants the one I was with last time because the view is better 🤨😂

Curiosity101 · 29/11/2020 22:17

@olderthanyouthink Sorry my maths was off, I accidentally added the extra 2 weeks on. You'd be 11-12 weeks according to the doctors. Haha, well I guess you'll find out soon enough either way. Amazing news!

😅😄 Think it's probably going to be best for you to over rule DH by the sounds of it. It's lovely to hear he's so excited though.

TTCWC2 · 29/11/2020 22:59

@olderthanyouthink ah massive congratulations!!! What a bit of excitement for a Sunday evening 🥰😊

@Curiosity101 @sunflowersaremyfav93 I've tried a few fruit teas and have to say I do enjoy them! My favourite is Pukka peppermint and liquorice but it says on the packet about not consuming during pregnancy. Typical isn't it! May have to try some others and deffo need to look in to decaf capsules for my normal 2pm coffee 🙈

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 30/11/2020 07:29

OMG @olderthanyouthink this is amazing!!!!! Congratulations! Has it sunk in this morning? "We clearly don't know how to use condoms" 😂 haha brilliant.
How do you find out how far along you are?

OP posts:
olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2020 07:50

@Curiosity101 calculator says 11 weeks. He's ok with the "worse" view (St Thomas' hospital is right on the thames opposite parliament)

@TTCWC2 really unexpected! Well except DP had his suspicions and was going to ask me to do a test

@sunflowersaremyfav93 not really, literally just woke up and took DD to the potty and a voice in the back of my head is like "pregnant!" andre I'm like "naaaah, wait what??" DP said he's chopping his balls off after the birth because he only wants two.

Sure fire way to date the pregnancy is a scan, last time the dates were off by about a week because I have wonky periods. Not sure in the turnaround for the self referral is, suppose I could pay for a private scan but don't want to go and see nothing much and then worry. I'm wondering if I'm not that pregnant that a digital clear blue would be useful but I'm loath to by one and it just say "3 weeks +".

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 30/11/2020 07:59

@olderthanyouthink Were you using condoms? I always think god I wish this condom would just break or something 😂😂
Ooh yeah I'd be sooo tempted to do a CB test to see what it says. How long will you have to wait for a scan?

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 08:03

@olderthanyouthink My bet would be that you're roughly 7 weeks pregnant. It fits with your symptoms and it'd mean you skipped a full cycle which is also relatively common.

I know what you mean about not wanting to risk going and not seeing anything. I reckon you're also right that a CB digital probably won't give you any extra info at this point.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 08:26

@olderthanyouthink They should get you in ASAP if you self refer to the midwife unit. They have to get you in as close to the 12 week mark as possible if you opt for the additional downs syndrome check. They can only do those measurements up to 14 weeks gestation and they have to allow for the baby being uncooperative on the day (I speak from experience 🤣). I had to got back and have my 12 week scan done 3 times.

Initially I was too early. I'd told them at my booking appointment that I was 10 days earlier than they were dating me but they went with their date so I was only just 11 weeks at my first scan so they couldn't do the measurements. DS wasn't playing ball at the actual 12 week scan and so I came back at 13 weeks and they finally managed to do it.

olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2020 08:40

@sunflowersaremyfav93 for the most part yeah (the last time we didn't but that was too recent) but on slipped off a while ago. Not sure how long for a scan.

@Curiosity101 stuck in limbo till a scan I think. I only had one period since DD and she's just 2 so I really can't say what timings are like, historically cycles have been 26 to 50 something days. Like to you I had a too early 12 weeks scan, it was crammed in on a Saturday because they didn't deal with my referral for a really long time (i found it a ~ 4 weeks) hopefully it will be better this time.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 08:43

@olderthanyouthink Oh wow, that's not great at all. Maybe private will be your best bet then. Very annoying. That's probably one of my biggest fears about having a baby whilst we're still mid pandemic. What will the pre natal care be like...

Fingers crossed. Are you doing your referral today?

olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2020 08:47

@Curiosity101 going with a different hospital this time! There was that and then being sent home to give birth at home (somewhat alone) and being dismissed when I said they needed to come out Angry yeah not overly positive but the actual pre natal care was fine.

Yeah will do it in a bit once I can offload DD on DP

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 08:58

@olderthanyouthink Wow, no wonder you want a different hospital! Were you aiming for a home birth? Or was it one of those "I'm in labour" - "No you aren't, take some paracetamol and go home for a bit" kind of things?

olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2020 09:06

@Curiosity101 nope, was supposed to be a hospital birth. I went in and contractions slowed down (never actually recovered to being regular), I wasn't only 1cm so sent home, they said they wound check again till the next day or something, I stubbornly stuck around for a a few hours but eventually went home and had her 30 mins later as the timer for more paracetamol went off. Would like a nice chilled planned home birth next time.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 09:09

@olderthanyouthink 🙈🙉🙊 Crazy. Fingers crossed you get your chosen birth plan this time round!

olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2020 09:10

They said it would be another day or so which was terrifying given how much pain I was in but wasn't that bad because I didn't have long left

CookieMonster3001 · 30/11/2020 14:34

Quick catch up with you ladies! Hope you are all well and not missing me too much!! Keeping off google and this forum has definately helped make this month a little bit more chill. I think OH is enjoying DTD a bit more this month as he feels less pressure. We have decided to just up our sex game and DTD every 2 or 3 days throughout the whole month, so he doesnt notice when the actual fertile week is, and we have been doing it more in the morning when he is half asleep (less likely to think about it!) and it seems to be working. I do feel less stressed and haven't really felt the need to google stuff every 5 minutes. Only really come on here to catch up with you ladies!! I have still been doing my temp and started OPK testing yesterday just to be sure (I am taking evening primrose oil and have heard it can delay ovulation) but other than that, just keeping it really chill this month!

Keeping on a strict healthy diet for the next couple of weeks because I know I am going to pig out over christmas! Dead boring but chicken and veggies for most meals!

@curiosity101 well done on losing the last 1.5lbs thats amazing! you should be so proud of yourself! Omg I used to love one born every minute but I am staying clear at the moment! anything baby related reduces me to tears lol

So when you all are ovulating... I know some of you are ovulating around the same time, I will be testing! Im optimistic this month!

@thenewmrsW how exciting your first TWW how is it going?? I will be joining you in 4 days!!!

@mayday27 if it helps, my LH levels are always low (apparently my baseline) until about 2 days before my peak reading, and even then they are barely noticable. My peak kinda comes out of nowhere, its only after testing for the last 6 months that I have come to realise that my LH rises really quickly, so I will get pretty low readings then CD 10 and 11 I will get high and peak, then it goes back down again (I ovulate CD12) Some people have slow rises and see the progression, and some people just get their LH surge out of nowhere. I would just keep testing!

@sunflowersaremyfav93 dont feel guilty about some prosecco! Honestly, I have decided to drink until after ovulation and then stop for two weeks and if I get my period, I drink again! We still have to enjoy ourselves! Also Archie is looking SO cute!!

@olderthanyouthink omg wow!! Congratulations thats amazing news!

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 14:43

@CookieMonster3001 Nice to hear from you. Good luck this month! I'm so glad you've found something that works for you and allows you to relax! FWIW what you've described is how we conceived DS. I did no temping, no OPKs etc. Literally just DTD every other day or so and hoping for a bit of good fortune. 🤞🤞🤞

MayDay27 · 30/11/2020 14:46

@olderthanyouthink congratulations!!

Thanks for everyone that got back to me about my lh levels I will test again today! From reading online it seems the most common day to ovulate is CD14? I think my cycle is normally 30/31 days and appear to ovulate CD20 is that unusual? Everything seems to say you ovulate half way through your cycle but then wouldn't that be CD15/16 for me on a 30/31 day cycle. I have probably been googling too much!

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 15:54

@MayDay27 Ovulation CD doesn't matter that much and can vary each cycle. The fixed part of your cycle is your luteal phase. On average that's 12-14 days long. Mine is either 11 or 12, I can't quite tell. If I don't conceive I can consistently expect AF 11/12 days after I ovulate. However ovulation has varied from CD16-25 for me, particularly if I'm unwell in the week leading up to ovulation. My average is probably CD17 so my average cycle length is 28-29. But on the cycle where I ovulated on CD25 it was 36-37 days long.

CD20 is nothing to worry about. And it sounds like your luteal phase is probably 10/11 days long so probably also nothing to worry about there.

TheNewMrsW · 30/11/2020 16:48

@Curiosity101 I did have a couple of glasses of wine over the weekend as I figured it wouldn't matter just a couple of DPO but won't have any more until AF arrives now... I would miss rare steak and cured meats, but I kinda don't want to jinx anything by doing stuff I couldn't do if I got pregnant! 10DPO will be Sunday 😬

@CookieMonster3001 it's going ok 4 DPO today and not going too crazy so far 😂 it will be nice to have some company when you join me!

@olderthanyouthink OMG congrats!!! At least that saves all the thinking about it 😂

mackjm20 · 30/11/2020 18:54

Hey ladies wow I have been off since 26/10 so sorry! So much to catch up on. Firstly hello welcome to everyone new :)

@CookieMonster3001 so glad you had a lovely time away :) have you noticed a difference with the primrose oil and omega 3? How is dh feeling now job wise? Omgosh your sister was so right about the lockdown! Can’t belive she had the wedding moved again bless her. Actually laughing my head off at the bonkathon! I have been taking some time away for that exact reason to go with the flow abit more! I was getting so obsessed. Decided to not do any opks or temp and just let it be until 6 months to see what happens. My af would be due 23rd this cycle so we are right on similar timings still :) how are you finding it all going into cycle 3?

@Curiosity101 thanks for adding me to come across. You are doing amazing on the weight loss well done! so glad you got everything sorted and were able to start treatment. Sounds like hypothyroidism has a lot of similar potential implications to factor v Leiden. Totally know what you mean about thinking they should test as standard it’s crazy that they don’t isn’t it! I would be consultant lead aswell and in a way at least you know that the person looking after you knows everything from the start :) eek so exciting that you are trying now I think? How do you feel?

@Lollipop87 how are you feeling? How did the 8 week scan go?

@sunflowersaremyfav93 sounds like you have had a whirl wind of a time bless you with all the results. So sorry it took so long for the mri but from the research you have done sounds like there are some real positives to come from it. Honestly well done fro how good you are being re diet and alcohol you are doing amazing! The odd day when you aren’t Is much better than most with more bad days than good :) you are giving yourself the best chances :) Archie is amazing so so so cute!

@TheNewMrsW ah exciting that you are ttc now! Sounds like you felt the same abouT ntnp as me! Information is sometimes not power lol! Good luck this cycle :) I know exactly what you mean where you said about friends pregnancy announcements! Like you are so happy for them but can’t help but wish it were you! I feel exactly the same

@butterfly5291 how are you doing? I totally get what you mean about being disheartening even though it’s only been 4 cycles. Sorry that your oh wasn’t being very understanding. Are things better now?

@Bells3032 how’s everything going with the move? How are you? Any idea when you are starting IVF yet?

@wrensandrobins so exciting that you are starting ttc now! I know exactly what you mean re goal bmi but like many people have said any loss is good :)

@olderthanyouthink ahhh huge congratulations! Omgosh how do you feel?

Looking forward to getting to know everyone I haven’t spoken to yet and sending baby dust to everyone now trying :) xx

mackjm20 · 30/11/2020 19:03

Bit of an update from me after being off the radar. So we started ntnp in September so going into cycle 4 now of ttc. We have thus far avoided opks and temping (although I have all the supplies to do so) as first 2 months we were trying to be all chill and then last month dh has been made redundant so it just has not been at the forefront of my mind.

I was becoming super obsessed about not being pregnant yet (ridiculous I know) but thought right let’s just take a little step back and it’s done me the world of good however have loved reading through and glad to be back as missed this group :)

So now that dh has been served notice he is looking for a job so I’m genuinely “going with the flow” in that if we dtd it it’s a win if we don’t I’m not putting any pressure on as he needs support not extra pressure at the moment :)

I did suggest we put a pin in it for a while but he is happy to just keep “going with the flow” which is a new mantra I’m desperately trying to get on board with although every part of me wants to scream that it doesn’t happen if you do it on the wrong days haha!

But wanna be zen wife that I am I am smiling and nodding and hoping he finds a new job so I can get back to crazy ttc wife again :)

My Oct af came super late which was so disheartening when she arrived but my nov af came early so think the stress has me abit our of wack. Hoping things will settle and the aim is that from Jan I’ll properly start opks and temping when things feel a little less up in the air :)

Xxx

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 19:29

@mackjm20 Hey! Glad to hear things are good, although sorry to hear about your DH Sad. It sounds like you're coping well with it though and it won't be forever. What sort of work does your DH do?

I will be TTC as of December yes Shock. Feeling pretty nervous but starting to get past that at I get my head around the idea. I'm starting to get excited, it's just such a huge change. It definitely feels scarier and riskier for me the second time around but if we want another baby then I'm just going to have to figure it out GrinGrinGrin

mackjm20 · 30/11/2020 19:36

@Curiosity101 thank you :) he is a regional manager so not lots of jobs out there at the moment. Just got to wait and see what comes up :) luckily he will get a payout and has a reasonable notice period so okay for just now :) so glad that you are starting to get excited :) 100 percent and at least you are prepared with all the info so less surprises :) when will you be testing this month? :) x
