Just that really!

I'm aware I'm in the 'older' bracket now but really want to soon start trying for another (have 1 already).

We have been thinking about it for a while now and have this time to see what happens. Theres only positives when we weigh everything up.

Planning on starting to try next month.

Anyone else?

Good luck to you. I got a bfn at 10 dpo today so think I am out. Had a chemical last month xx

Happysbno4 · 05/11/2020 09:52

Appointment to IUD out next week...

Good luck everyone! Xxx

timeforanother1 · 05/11/2020 10:01

Isn't it mad how when you've tried, you spend the next however many days seeing loads of new symptoms you think could mean you're pregnant?!

I have had a dry mouth for a few days and fancy different foods to usual lol!

10 days is early to test @Idreamof2more so don't write this month off yet!

@Happysbno4 that's great, you're right- always reasons but what else is there to do in lockdown ha ha Grin

I had my second a week off of 41 so there is definitely hope. I did conceive again at 42 but sadly had to terminate the pregnancy at 17 weeks due to a chromosome disorder.

We did keep trying and I had one chemical abs nothing else. I’m nearly 46 now and have made peace with it but I just wanted to wish you all lots of luck xxx

timeforanother1 · 05/11/2020 10:17

Thank you @justanotherneighinparadise
Sorry to hear of your loss. That is quite late to find out a disorder isn't it?

I know they do checks at 12 weeks but I'd be keen to have the £400 test- is it the harmony or something like that? I think it's a blood test but don't know at what stage it can be done.

OP posts:
justanotherneighinparadise · 05/11/2020 10:25

Yeah it was the harmony test that gave the high risk. Then that had to be confirmed with an amino. Then I had to go through a long winded fight to have a surgical termination in London as I didn’t want my last labour to be under those terrible circumstances. So although I found out at 13 weeks it took until 17 weeks to have the termination.

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/11/2020 10:25

Earliest you can have the Harmony is 10 weeks.

Idreamof2more · 05/11/2020 11:55

Thank you @ @timeforanother1 for the moral boost. I’m praying for a bfp but just don’t feel any different at all. How many dpo are you? Good luck xxx

timeforanother1 · 05/11/2020 12:03

@justanotherneighinparadise oh gosh sending big hugs to you. Can't imagine how bad those weeks after would have been.

@Idreamof2more when I got my bfp I was convinced I wouldn't as I had literally no symptoms! It's not over until af appears!

OP posts:
justanotherneighinparadise · 05/11/2020 12:23

I actually didn’t mind being pregnant and waiting. It was the fight with the NHS I could have done without and the extremely rude/unhelpful specialists who are particularly scathing about older mothers and adopt a ‘well what did you expect’ attitude.

I’m grateful though for everything I have and it’s just another crappy life event to add to many others.

I do know of a mother who had her last child at 44. She fell really easy, on purpose, and her child is absolutely perfect. So don’t let my tale of woe put you off xx

timeforanother1 · 07/11/2020 19:30

@Idreamof2more have you tested again?

I'm going over the top and spotting every symptom now thinking I'm pregnant lol!

Not due on til next Sunday ha ha!

Thank you for checking in xx

june2007 · 07/11/2020 19:44

Not sure if I can any more. I have 2 had a mc last year and cycles not really got back to "normal". (Not that there was much of a normal for me). I woder if I am too old.

Feminmister · 07/11/2020 22:47

Hi, I’m 42, TTC number 4 after a mmc in June. I feel much less fertile since the mmc so I’m not sure we will be lucky this time. Prior to the miscarriage I conceived four times v quickly. I’m currently 8dpo so we will see soon for this month.

@Idreamof2more those look like faint positives to me. ICs are crap so I’d be hopeful with these despite the negatives on the ICs. What dpo are you now?

Idreamof2more · 07/11/2020 23:16

Hi @Feminmister sorry for your loss but great that you have been able to fall so quickly. I am 11 or 12 dpo. Thank you for your comment I just can’t get excited. I am 40, 41 in jan and have had 2 mc. Last one in April and a chemical last month. Fingers crossed for you. I am constantly knicker checking as af due Monday or Tuesday never ever late so time will tell..... xxx

timeforanother1 · 08/11/2020 19:34

Oooh @Idreamof2more have you tested again today? Got everything crossed for you!

@june2007 have you got any children?
Thinking, has your cycle always been irregular? If so that could be why nothing yet this year.. are you tracking cycles in any way?

@Feminmister how do you mean you feel less fertile? When will you test? Everything massively crossed for you too!

OP posts:
Idreamof2more · 08/11/2020 19:35

Yes bfn for me so patiently and calmly awaiting af to show to start a new cycle xxx

Feminmister · 08/11/2020 20:10

@timeforanother1 I just have a feeling in my gut that I am less fertile and will struggle to conceive this time. I can’t put a finger on why I feel that. We have already tried for two cycles since the mmc and I have never waited this long before (I have been v v v lucky I know).

I did another IC cheapy today (9dpo) and it was BFN.

june2007 · 08/11/2020 21:00

I have two children. My cycles have been quite irregular. I have had months with nothing and then times when it,s been 2 wks on 2wks off. I try to keep an eye on things.

consideringachange · 11/11/2020 13:30

Hello everyone. I'm 40 and I've just (this morning!) had my coil taken out. I've got two boys already who are 5 and 7. It's taken us a long time to decide about trying for a third because I had very complicated pregnancies so it's potentially a pretty big undertaking -- I was in hospital a lot in the first half of both pregnancies and in a wheelchair in the second half. I'm aware I might be too old now anyway but I really want to give it a go at least. I think if I am too old DH will be quite relieved to be honest! He's not against the idea of a third but he is pretty terrified of the pregnancy. Anyway, I've promised not to talk to him about it much unless or until I am definitely pregnant so I thought it would be a good idea to join one of these threads for a bit of solidarity.

timeforanother1 · 12/11/2020 22:23

Welcome @consideringachange it's good to know there's some of us hopeful older mums 'to hopefully be' out there!

I do now wish I'd have started younger but on saying that I feel a better parent to my nearly 3 y o than I think I would have been in the past.
I want her to have a sibling, there's no family around us likely to have kids and I don't want her growing up without that family bond/ connection to share life with.
We will be very tight on space with another and won't be able to afford as much but we really want another addition!

@june2007 that would drive me mad!

@Feminmister any more tests?

@Idreamof2more let's do this next month together!

OP posts:
kirinm · 13/11/2020 07:52

Where is everyone in their cycle? I think I'm 4dpo.

sabtom · 13/11/2020 09:03

I'm 11/12dpo. Usually my LP is 11 days but last month was 14 days, so I don't intend on testing till I get to 14dpo.

kirinm · 13/11/2020 09:10

Fingers crossed for you!
