Roll up, roll up, it’s time for a new thread for the ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. This our 4th thread (I think!) and we've had a few ladies get their BFP recently which is so exciting! Join us, won’t you?

Welcome back:

Hi ladies. Sorry I’ve been absent. My work is insanely busy at the moment.

I wanted to ask a question about the OPKs. I’ve started doing them and my first one was 0.14 then second was 0.44 and now the last two days has dipped lower.

Is this normal? Could it be the time I’m doing it and maybe I’m drinking too much water?

Moocher90 · 18/11/2020 12:04

Morning all currently CD40 but the last 2 days I have had brown spotting, only when I wipe. My RHR is 71 but my temps are FP temps as they are relatively low at 36.21. I may have to count this spotting as CD1.

@Juno231 I know right!!?? Apparently she thought she had started menopause because her periods had stopped, but nope, it was a baby - and very much a surprise!

So.. i'm CD 11, and my OPKs are at about 25% (so not as strong as I thought) and my CM is wet and creamy... so not fertile (sorry if TMI!). But I checked my cervix (just for the hell of it) and it was high, very soft an open?! Is that odd?

Kay00 · 18/11/2020 12:43

@MintGreenLife thats such good news! It sounds as though your diet has really worked out for you! And just as well you have been avoiding all that cake Smile.

@Moocher90 oh no, hopefully that's not AF turning up. I would only count CD1 from your first day of heavy bleed, so if that isn't this afternoon then maybe tomorrow? How many DPO are you?

Moocher90 · 18/11/2020 12:56

@Kay00
Well the weekend before last I had EWCM which was tinged with pink and had it for 3 days finishing on Sunday 8th Nov. Then had brown spotting the last two days, not any today on wiping but sweeping the cervix seems to be brown tinged CM. So I could be 10 DPO today but my temps are very low and are more follicular phase temps. I will take a test on Monday 23rd if I haven’t had a proper period and also in the mean time keep monitoring my cervix and CM.

Kay00 · 18/11/2020 13:16

@moocher90 I have my fingers crossed for you. If AF does turn up at least a 10 day LP is pretty good 😊

MintGreenLife · 18/11/2020 14:40

@Kay00 I'm really pleased and am sure my diet must have had a role to play :) feel like I best keep it up now though, rather than it being a short-term thing!

Rosyrose91 · 18/11/2020 15:37

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you ladies have any advice and tips about TTC ? I came off my pill around mid October and have been casually trying since. I say casual but here I am looking for tips and advice so clearly I want to be pregnant ASAP... I've always had irregular long cycles, light flow. Annoying I didn't take note of when exactly I stopped my pill which isn't helpful. For the past week I've had some cramps or sore nipples. A pimple or two and thinking it's more likely my period. But nothing yet. Did a test Monday which was negative. Almost sure it's my period but reading other posts, looks like it might be a while before my period even shows... Tracking my cervical mucus, it matches that "ovulation period" but it's been like that for about 10 days... which makes me think it's not actually ovulation time.
I have a daughter who's 2 and she was a complete fluke! I'd been off the pill that year for 5 months using condoms and got pregnant in September. We weren't trying, it was a happy accident type thing.
Would be really grateful for any advice so I can start this journey well prepared. Thank you 💪

Juno231 · 18/11/2020 15:44

@Rosyrose91 welcome! Atm I think it's just a waiting game until you get your first AF so you know where you're at and what's happening. Depending on how serious you want to be about it, I'd perhaps suggest you start BBT tracking as your cycles were long and irregular even before the pill, so might be the only way for you to figure out when you ovulate? A lot of us girls on here temp so we'd be able to help with any of it if you need :)

So girls I had the GP referral chat and he's put me through! My assessment has been scheduled in for... 17th of May!

MintGreenLife · 18/11/2020 16:15

@Juno231 That's good news! Is that a longer wait than you were hoping for though? Or are you just pleased to be booked in?? x

MintGreenLife · 18/11/2020 16:21

@Juno231 I feel like your '...' means you're not all that impressed with the long wait, and to be honest I wouldn't be either, but it's hard to read the tone on Mumsnet ha. How are you feeling about everything in general? x

Kay00 · 18/11/2020 17:30

@juno231 well, if you haven't conceived by May then you'll be pretty pleased you have your appointment coming up... hopefully you'll conceive naturally before then!

TheHotelCalifornia · 18/11/2020 19:58

@mintgreenlife ahh that’s amazing news, well done you! Definitely seems like your diet has helped that, you must be so pleased! Let’s just focus on getting these cycles and LPs to play ball now! And thanks for replying re: the AC, I didn’t take it 2 days in a row and freaked out so I’ve just not taken it since O now! Like you say, lots of conflicting advice and yes I LOVE that Fleur woman she’s so cute! I feel like she’s super knowledgeable so I probably would have carried on taking it but where I was on the fence I decided it was too late ha.

@Juno231 fab news about your assessment girl!! Sorry it's so far away, were you expecting that? Is it to do with stupid Covid? We'll help you through the wait and hopefully you'll conceive before then like @kay00 says!

@kay00 good to know I’m not the only one missing peaks! Maybe we drink too much water!? Honestly, the amount I’m spending on these OPKs is mental.

@dex1521 no such thing as TMI here chick! Welcome back! Keep us updated please! FRER are meant to be the queens of PTs!

@kay00 PreMom for the percentage pics!

Well guys, FF created a lovely cover line for me this morning and ovulation has been confirmed across all of my apps as happening on Sunday so I’m 3DPO. I have very sore nipples and have had minor cramps basically on and off this whole cycle so not much exciting happening here! How is everyone else getting on? Also I’m totally craving choc Weetabix by the way, whoever mentioned them haha! I absolutely love breakfast and have a wholemeal English muffin with peanut butter on almost every morning…I never get sick of it! Also got a fancy coffee machine for my birthday so I’m obsessed with nice coffee!

I bought a pineapple to eat in this TWW haha! It’s believed to help improve your uterine lining to help with implantation and even though there’s little to no scientific research I figured what the hell! So munching on pineapple with the chewy stalky core bit in as that’s the bit that’s important ha! The things we do.

@MintGreenLife that's such good news!

@TheHotelCalifornia chart is looking fantastic fingers crossed for you X

No news here, CD15 no pos opk yet but lines are def going in right direction so hopefully on the way.

ChinChilly · 18/11/2020 20:54

Sorry @TheHotelCalifornia the choc Weetabix was my fault 😂😂

AMS19 · 18/11/2020 21:07

@TheHotelCalifornia I did exactly the same. Muched away on two pineapple cores during my TWW. Oh and Mcdonalds fries. I follow far too many IVF journeys on Instagram! 😂😂😂 Good luck 🤞🤞

Rosyrose91 · 18/11/2020 21:19

@Juno231 thanks for your help, reading some of the messages here and wow... I have so much to learn! Would you all agree that starting off with the basics, i should track my bbt and my cycles ? Could someone recommend a decent digital bbt thermometer ? And what's the 'best' app that would you recommend for tracking cycles ? Don't mind paying. Thanks, sorry for all the newbie questions!

Juno231 · 18/11/2020 21:36

@TheHotelCalifornia yay for confirmed ovulation! I used to do the pineapple thing during the LP too! And grapefruit juice during the FP, pomegranate juice for LP etc etc lol.

@MintGreenLife @kay00 ha yeah May was def a fair bit later than I thought! Was mentally prepared for it to be as late as March but 6 months! Bear in mind I started the tests in July so will have taken me 10 months to get to the assessment stage lol. Oh well, hopefully there are cancellations before then!

@Rosyrose91 fertility friend is the best for bbt :) I just use a £10 femometer thermometer from amazon. There's lots of fancy ones that update apps straight via Bluetooth etc but really all you need is for it to take your temp to 2 decimal points :)

Kay00 · 18/11/2020 21:40

Haha, i have just added chocolate Weetabix to my shopping list 😆

@thehotelcalifornia that's a banging chart! Hit that pinapple hard girl 😂

@rosyrose91 I bought this one: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KG9MNYZ/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 its great, the beeping is quiet and it hasn't run out battery yet (5 months in)!

Most of us will recommend the Fertility Friend app for charting temperature, its free and really accurate x

MintGreenLife · 19/11/2020 09:33

@TheHotelCalifornia Thanks so much :) I mean I'm thinking it can't be a coincidence - in the two months I've been gluten and dairy free I've had no IBS symptoms, and my TSH has lowered significantly, so can't complain! Only issue is it's my birthday next week and I was thinking OH and I would get a celebratory takeaway pizza, as pizza is my favourite indulgence, and intended to start reintroducing things anyway, but now I'm thinking as I've seen so much improvement I should stick to it. Will have to investigate and see if I can get a gluten free takeaway pizza and just have a night off being dairy free.

Yay for getting the cross hairs! I'm 7DPO now and keeping my fingers crossed my temps stay up a normal amount.

Thanks @MancMama39 :) Hope ovulation happens for you soon.

@Juno231 May is really far away, but all being well you won't actually end up needing the appointment, and like you say, there's likely to be cancellations, so it may get moved forward.

So my temp went up today to 36.72 yay. It was 7DPO last cycle that my temps started to drop, so feeling happy, but not getting carried away just yet. Only thing is my thermometer is playing up and this is the second one I've had that has broken! I sometimes get an error message, which happened last night, so I popped it down for 5 mins and then tried again, so hopefully that temp was accurate. I planned to take it again when I woke up at 7.30am this morn to back up the higher temp, and tried, but I got a weird beep which I've been getting from time to time lately, think it's basically the beep to tell you you have a temperature, and it gives me a stupid reading like 42.6 or something! So I gave up. Think I may have to order my third but try a different brand. So annoying.

When are you planning on testing @juno231 - I'm thinking Saturday, which would be 9DPO, which is early I know, but otherwise feel like I may not get the chance! x

Juno231 · 19/11/2020 09:38

@MintGreenLife oh I'm glad your temp went up! Mine is still at 36.62 lol. A one off pizza shouldn't hurt - perhaps you could go for a whole wheat one and at least make it low GI? The idea is to test on Sunday at 11 dpo but realistically I might cave and test on Saturday with you! What thermometer do you use btw?

MintGreenLife · 19/11/2020 09:43

@Juno231 well that's still a good post O temp :) yeah you're probably right, I'll do some browsing of Deliveroo, lol at me planning my birthday feast over a week in advance! I've already ordered lots of dairy free chocolate. Well it would be nice to have a testing buddy, but of course do what feels right to you :) I know 9DPO is probably too early to test, but will be nice to have the chance for once. I use the pink femometre one. Am thinking maybe I should try a different one as it keeps breaking on me! x

Juno231 · 19/11/2020 09:57

@MintGreenLife that's weird! What error message do you get? Miner's luckily been working fine so far! I remember your old one stopped beeping 🙊

MintGreenLife · 19/11/2020 10:15

@Juno231 I know, this is my second one and it's going the same way! It literally just says 'err' on the screen ha. Not helpful. I've been looking on Amazon and the one we are both using seems to get the best reviews anyway...feel like I'm going to end up with my third one eek!

Kay00 · 19/11/2020 10:47

@MintGreenLife I use this one, and it has been really reliable so far: ]] its quiet, does the beepy thing, it recalls and the battery has lasted 5 months. And only £15!
