Roll up, roll up, it’s time for a new thread for the ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. This our 4th thread (I think!) and we've had a few ladies get their BFP recently which is so exciting! Join us, won’t you?

Welcome back:

Hey girls how are we all doing? Just catching up (again) I swear, work totes gets in the way of my post-pill party time and this week was a particularly demanding one!! Really can’t complain though when so many are out of work, I know how lucky I am. Just been catching up with everyone’s posts!

@sperr this sounds very positive and was also my first thought when I read your post about being a bit quick to call it AF…keeping everything crossed for you!

@chinchilly so sorry you’re having such a hard time timing BD! What a nightmare ☹ fingers crossed you can grab some time together when you get a peak OPK! Keep us updated. Also sorry to read your earlier post from Thursday. 5 months is a long time to be dealing with all this, I’m in the same boat and I know lots of us are so it’s absolutely okay to be feeling rubbish. I feel the same some days! You are not alone! Fingers crossed for all of us xx

@mrsmacmc hope doggo is okay now bless her!! Also so sorry to hear about you and OH having a big fight ☹ Hope you’re feeling okay now?

@mintgreenlife look at those OPKS!!! Absolutely incredible!!!!

@juno231 and @mintgreenlife cycle buddies! How are you finding the dreaded TWW?

@dechie welcome lovely! No experience with NTNP, the exact opposite over here haha but hoping it works for you guys! Deffo start taking folic acid and I echo the recs for Fertility Friend! It’s basic but does the job!

Feels like we’ve had a few tough moments on here over the past week ladies! I really hope everyone is doing better this week. It’s bloody hard some days, isn’t it!

Things have been happening in my little world! After taking AC since CD1 and daring to hope I might ovulate around Day 14 (HAHAHAH) I finally started getting high OPKs on Day 24 which was exciting because last cycle I ovulated on Day 31. So that’s an improvement I guess! I didn’t actually catch my peak though, or even a high on PreMom…but I got highs on Femometer and last cycle I had highs then just one peak so I guess I could easily have missed it. I drink a lot of water and it also may have happened overnight. I just hope it happened!! We DTD every day over the past few days and I am going to jump on him one last time tonight haha so hopefully will cover all bases. My temp has increased a bit today up to 36.43 after being around 36.10 most of this cycle, lower temps as I’ve been taking BBT at 5am.

So I’ll have to see what happens tomorrow and the day after and just hope FF gives me some crosshairs and confirms ovulation because currently all apps are freaking out as I didn’t get a peak OPK. Has anyone else missed their peak after doing OPKs quite religiously?

Honestly I felt so happy when I took my temperature this morning and it was higher. Isn’t it funny how the little things make us post-pillers happy! I’ve stopped taking AC now after agonizing over whether to not to - @mintgreenlife did you stop taking yours at ovulation?? So many mixed messages online right! Anyway, will BD tonight and then try and just hope the AC makes my luteal phase longer than last month. Attaching my FF chart, PreMom calendar and PreMom OPKs for the lols!

Sending everyone baby dust xxxxxx

Sorry @Sperr 😢 This exact thing happened to me last cycle too - I never get spotting or anything, but did for like 5 days over when AF was due, and wondered when to count CD1 from. Not really sure why or what it means!

@ChinChilly So typical!! It's always the same here too 😂🙈 We can never work the timing out with shifts etc! Saturdays swimmers might be ok?! They can keep going up to 5 days! Defo jump him in the morning though!

AMS19 · 16/11/2020 20:33

Sorry @sperr rubbish news! Fingers crossed if you do try again tomorrow xx

Kay00 · 16/11/2020 20:35

:( Sorry to hear that @Sperr

ChinChilly · 16/11/2020 20:39

@TheHotelCalifornia timing can be really difficult with shifts! I’m thinking if we DTD tomorrow we may catch it!

@crabette glas I’m not the only battling with crappy shifts 😂 I think Saturdays swimmers may be mouldy by now 😂😂😂😂 I’m just gonna DTD tomorrow and hope for the best I think!

@Sperr sorry to hear about the BFN same happened to me last cycle I was convinced it was the one...our bodies can be so cruel

MintGreenLife · 16/11/2020 20:52

@TheHotelCalifornia aww we are properly cycle buddies, right down to the AC and expecting Ov earlier but still getting it late, ha! Fingers crossed your temp rise continues. I'm 4DPO now. I've not missed my LH surge, but that's because I appear to get a three day surge before O, so pretty hard to miss. I've carried on taking AC to be honest, as apparently it takes around 3 months to properly work, and so if you stop-start taking it it's not really going to do it's job. This article basically says to keep taking it until you get a BFP: ingefleur.com/ttc/how-to-use-vitex/

By the way, I find her videos on YouTube about fertility and TTC really good x

MintGreenLife · 16/11/2020 21:16

@Sperr you never know, could be because you didn't use FMU. Try to manage your expectations if you can, but don't feel to down about it as could still be possible x

Sperr · 16/11/2020 21:18

Well at least I can go back to my original gratefulness that my cycle was short. I think I will count the second day of spotting as cycle day 1 😂.

Kay00 · 16/11/2020 22:41

@TheHotelCalifornia yes, I pretty much used an entire box of OPK's last cycle and still didn't catch my peak! Not sure what i'm doing wrong to be honest :/

mrsmacmc · 16/11/2020 23:08

Sorry been quiet ladies, taking stock of what's been happening and dealing with the mother of all periods. CD5 and AF is still heavy which is unusual and had another migraine last night. Keeping an eye and hoping it's a one off glitchy cycle 🤞🏻

@TheHotelCalifornia pupper is back to acting like nothing happened which is good. Hubby is feeling less stressy as his project in work gor over the line today.

Fingers and paws crossed! ❤️❤️

Sperr · 17/11/2020 08:53

BFN this morning again! I’ve marked the second day of spotting as CD1 on one app and just going to leave another just in case something else (like my real AF decided to show up) happens in a week or so. At least my cycle is short so I can still have 2 more attempts this year 😂. I’m now making a pact with myself to not test until AF is actually late . I still have the tiniest bit of hope as some people say they had to wait a while before they got their BFP after spotting. I know I should just let go now though! My SIL had previously told me she had to wait 2 weeks after her AF was late before she got a BFP (now wishing she hadn’t told me as that’s probably what’s making me think I still have hope!)

MintGreenLife · 17/11/2020 09:23

@Sperr sorry to hear it was a BFN, it's good that you've acknowledged this is most likely AF. If it helps, my AF's have had differences, for example one was heavy, my last one I started spotting the day before, when I hadn't had spotting before, and the one before that I had stop-start spotting at the end for around 3 days, so I think it's fine, especially post-pill, to see some variations. I guess if proper AF doesn't arrive test again in a few days? x

Dex1521 · 17/11/2020 09:40

Hi ladies I’m back! Find it so hard to keep up with these threads 😂

I’ve been off the progesterone only pill for 3 weeks today (still no withdrawal or period) but been having all the symptoms of pregnancy and I was talking to a girl on here who was lucky enough to fall pregnant a week after coming off the PO pill (and didn’t have a withdrawal or period) so she is giving me hope.
We DTD 9th, 10, 11th this month and the past few days I feel like I have an increased sense of smell for example I opened a packet of cooked chicken and it smelt so bad to me and my OH smelt it and said it just smells like chicken and when I was cleaning the cat food bowls out a few days ago the smell coming from them made me gag and it’s never bothered me in the past.
I’ve been having nausea but no sickness and dizzy spells where I go all shaky and feel like I’m going to faint.
This bit is TMI so I apologise in advance 😂 I went to the toilet yesterday and after wiping I noticed a large lump of CM on the paper when I put it between my fingers it was like a jelly consistency and clear which I’ve read can be either ovulation (as I don’t know the day I ovulate yet because of no cycle) or a sign of pregnancy 🤨

I’d also like to ask what pregnancy tests do people find work the best? Especially as I’m dying to test but I know it’s still too early just feel like I’m in limbo as I don’t know when AF is due or what is going on with me 😂

Kay00 · 17/11/2020 09:45

@sperr sorry you got a BFN this morning :( Its definitely worth putting your next cycle hat on and looking forward, taking the positives from this cycle and working towards getting your BFP in a few weeks time (hopefully). If you do start getting pregnancy symptoms in a week or so's time then maybe do another test.

Kay00 · 17/11/2020 09:51

@Dex1521 The best tests seem to be the FRER tests as they are petty sensitive and pick up pregnancies early on (6 days before your missed period).

The difficulty is the pregnancy symptoms are so darn similar to symptoms we get when surges in hormones around ovulation and in our Luteal Phase (between ovulation and your period). Your fertile cervical mucus can be a really good indicator that you might be ovulating... so my advice is to get DTD just in case you are ovulating now!

I think some women get fertile CM like this just before they get a BFP too... so it can be very difficult to work out what is going on when you don't know your cycle Smile.

Dex1521 · 17/11/2020 10:10

@Kay00 thanks! Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people mention the FRER tests so I’ll go for those I think. Out of interest I took a ovulation strip this morning and it was completely negative no faint line or anything so I’ve no idea what’s going on with my hormones or where I’m at in my cycle I just wish my bloody period would arrive so I could start tracking my cycle and know where I’m at with it all. The longer it’s taking to return the more I can’t stop thinking there is something wrong with me 😰

ChinChilly · 17/11/2020 10:15

Morning ladies!

Seems like my peak may be today, may be able to squeeze a BD in before OH goes to work, I’m still going to write this cycle off though I think as we’ve only managed to DTD once on the run up to ovulation and that was Saturday.

Hope everybody is ok!

MintGreenLife · 17/11/2020 11:03

I've just had a text message reminder for an ultrasound scan I wasn't aware I was booked in for! Apparently it's this Saturday but I have no idea what time - I didn't receive a referral letter or anything. I'm trying to find out but nobody can tell me at the mo. So stupid!

Juno231 · 17/11/2020 11:09

@MintGreenLife sigh I'm not even surprised - everything NHS related seems to not be running too smoothly lol. I registered locally last week and once that was done I used their online referral request system, inputting all the info I could. Except I got a response yesterday that I'd need to book a gp appointment first. Called 5 times and not once was able to get through to reception lol.

Oh and by moving GPs they've revoked my medical records access on my NHS app! Bumholes, that took ages to sort out.

@ChinChilly DTD today and tomorrow and you're seriously covered!

ChinChilly · 17/11/2020 11:15

@Juno231 definitely going to pounce on OH before he goes off to work 😂 thank you you’ve made me feel abit more positive!

@MintGreenLife Totally agree with @juno231 about the NHS not running to smoothly, I had a letter saying I had missed a smear test appointment and I was now on their list of ‘no shows’ I wouldn’t mind but I had a smear test last year so not even due one 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sperr · 17/11/2020 11:20

@MintGreenLife I hate post pill periods now - but I actually don’t mind them if they will be that light 😂. I’m just going to let go of the idea that I’m pregnant now and just move on to next cycle. What ever it was has stopped now!

MintGreenLife · 17/11/2020 12:51

@Juno231 it's typical isn't it. I've managed to find out what time it is now, but I wasn't going to be here on Saturday. Can't get through to see if it's possible to rearrange, so tried a different number and was told I would need the other department to rebook it, as all they can do is cancel it and I'll be added back onto the waiting list, and it took 2 months to get the appointment before. I didn't get a referral letter or anything, so god knows what's happened there!

Urgh super annoying, they make it so difficult. Ohh I didn't even know you could access your own medical records, interesting. Are you trying to get an appointment about your TSH, or because you're coming up to 12 months TTC?

@ChinChilly oh man that's harsh! To be honest I would have completely missed this appointment had I not had the reminder text, as that's the first I'd even heard of it!

@Sperr urgh all the uncertainty is the worst. We always want the opposite of what we have - I would love heavier periods so I could be sure my lining is thick enough for an embryo to implant! x

MintGreenLife · 17/11/2020 13:44

@Juno231 Am I right in saying that you had an ultrasound? If so was it a transvaginal one? Probably stupid to worry about, but I'll be 9DPO on Saturday and wouldn't want to do anything to disrupt any potential implantation! Unlikely, but just wouldn't want to do anything wrong x

MintGreenLife · 17/11/2020 14:02

@Juno231 I've managed to change it for in two weeks time, feel better going mid cycle x

Sperr · 17/11/2020 14:05

I mean now it’s stopped i can get back to BD again 😂. I might take a few more days to rest though after going at it every other day for a month!

Part of me thinks I could have got ovulation wrong as I’m only going of CM and CP as I have never get a peak OPK. Based on my first post pill cycle my period isn’t actually due until next week so I’m thinking in my mind prepare myself that it’s probably not the case that I am but I still want to get rid of that tiny bit of doubt next week and do a last test (which will literally be a cheap one). But I’m going to continue as though I’m not and start BDing again later in the week
