Roll up, roll up, it’s time for a new thread for the ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. This our 4th thread (I think!) and we've had a few ladies get their BFP recently which is so exciting! Join us, won’t you?

@Juno231 yep mine was 3.5, so above 2.5 isn't meant to be great for TTC. Is iodine meant to help with elevated TSH? I'm taking selenium as read that's meant to help x

MintGreenLife · 09/11/2020 14:20

In other news after my positivity this morn I felt sure I was going to get a positive OPK today (as head loads of EWCM this morn and definitely feeling friskier) but no such luck. Ah well, will keep DTD and testing daily, am sure it will happen soon...

Kay00 · 09/11/2020 15:05

@crabette Sorry AF has turned up for you too... on the plus side we can be cycle buddies again!

@juno231, interesting how your thyroid might be a little overactive too? Maybe its a common thing? I'm going to read around the subject...

crabette · 09/11/2020 15:22

@Kay00 I'm pleased we're cycle buddies! 😂

Also interesting about your thyroid @Juno231 ...I looked at the symptoms yesterday and could relate as well. It may well be a common thing - wonder if there's any links to that and contraceptive pill use!

crabette · 09/11/2020 15:23

Sorry about your OPK @MintGreenLife. Maybe later this afternoon? Fingers crossed for you.

MintGreenLife · 09/11/2020 15:29

@crabette thanks :) not sure if I'll test again later as going to run out of OPKs! Will see how I feel.

DH's friend has just told him he and his wife are expecting. It all comes at once doesn't it!

crabette · 09/11/2020 15:37

@MintGreenLife Oh God, I literally feel like everyone I know is either pregnant or currently with a newborn / small baby! Hope you're ok. It's not easy :(

MintGreenLife · 09/11/2020 15:43

@crabette I'm fine with this one as it's not so close to home though, still though, just makes you feel even more broken when everyone else seems to manage so easily!

crabette · 09/11/2020 15:46

@TheHotelCalifornia as a follow on from your question on apps - I now also have a trial of Flo as well 😂 So going to input my data to FF & Flo and see which I prefer.

Natural Cycles I think is a cross between trying to conceive and a certified birth control method, so mainly tracks BBT, (it doesn't let you input time though,) and is supplemented by OPKs. There's no way to input your CM or anything other than just as a note, so I assume it's less accurate just by the fact it works from less data? It's a nice simple interface, but I think I'm going to ditch it completely.

Flo seems to be paid only, £8.99/month or £45/year. Lets you input BBT, LH, CM, sex drive as well as sex. It's a nice interface, but I had to add BBT and LH to the interface as they were in a more detailed info bit and so weren't on automatically, which I thought was weird. But it lets you put more personal details in like weight and exercise etc too.

crabette · 09/11/2020 15:48

@MintGreenLife I know what you mean. Everyone keeps telling me they got there on "their first try"... it's hard not to think of it as unfair!

MintGreenLife · 09/11/2020 15:54

@crabette it really is isn't it, guess it's just one of those things x

Juno231 · 09/11/2020 16:09

@MintGreenLife ah that sucks to hear even more pregnancy announcements! They're everywhere once you start TTC. Going on walks in spring is the worst I feel - everyone seems to be pregnant then! Yeah I read that iodine is key in thyroid function so a lack of it could result in elevated numbers like ours. However it does also say that if you have too much iodine it can cause the same problem lol so it's a bit difficult to balance. What else did you read could be good for it other than selenium?

@kay00 underactive I think! Hypo rather than hyper.

@crabette one of the medical things I read today said that of couples that struggled to get pregnant in the first year, 30% of them had elevated TSH so it must be a lot more common than we think.

Kay00 · 09/11/2020 16:17

Ooh that's really interesting. I called my doctors and that was one of the tests I didn't get done. Im not sure whether to wait until Jan before I contact the doctor to discuss possible tests or do it now. Im only on my 3rd cycle trying though, even if I came off the pill in June.

MintGreenLife · 09/11/2020 16:17

@Juno231 I'll have to recap, I'm not doing anything else at the mo to try and bring mine down if I'm honest. I do think as it can be genetic, and most likely is just our genes rather than thyroid disease in cases of mildly elevated/subclinical hypothyroidism, that it's possible that you can't really reduce it naturally, although worth a try! You're right - 3.1 is on the hypo side, so underactive. Do you have any symptoms at all? For example I'm always cold, and I need around 9 hours or sleep a night and will happily sleep 10+ hours given the chance, plus I have super dry skin and always have x

Sperr · 09/11/2020 20:24

@Juno231sorry this is so random but i screenshot something you said (I thought I’ll need to remember that one day 😂) and I remember you track your heart rate. You said for a temp shift you need 3 temps higher than your last 6- is that the same for your heart rate? I think I can actually identify my ovulation if so (ahhhh!!!)

ChinChilly · 09/11/2020 20:49

Hii ladies,

Saw this pic, made me me think of this thread 😂

Having abit of a stinker of a day, tried to get a phone consultation with my GP today, I have a new mole near my arm pit I want to get checked out & I get horrendously itchy hands at night, I was told they will only discuss one thing per consultation WTF!?!?!

Works is crazy, had a right barney with OH... is today over yet 🙄

Kay00 · 09/11/2020 21:09

Haha!! Love the picture! Sorry about your rubbish day (and tiff with your OH)! Its odd the doc can't talk to you about both concerns at the same time? They might be related! Can you get two back to back appointments?

ChinChilly · 09/11/2020 22:11

@Kay00 my GP surgery is useless, it is impossible to get an appointment and the receptionists are just rude! I have to admit though the itching on my hands has been going on for years, I normally take an antihistamine before bed and that normally does the trick but obviously if I do by some miracle get a BFP I can’t keeping popping them every night so I really need to get down to the cause of the itching.

I also don’t think there is anything sinister about the mole it’s very small but is raised...I very rarely go to the doctors simply because it’s such a stress with my GP, I normally just get a response of there is no appointments so atleast I will actually get to speak to a doc about one of my alignments on Friday 😂😂😂

ChinChilly · 09/11/2020 22:14

*ailment...dam you predicted text 😂😂

Juno231 · 10/11/2020 09:22

@sperr no, rhr is definitely more fickle than that but I will say mine pretty much follows my temp pattern so probably does fulfill that criteria too!

Moocher90 · 10/11/2020 09:47

Morning all,

Been having period style cramps since I’ve had the spotting but so far no period yet and no more spotting! I’m going to test with a frer tomorrow as I’m due to donate blood and want to make sure I’m not pregnant. Temperatures are still very up and down but vaginally they are very consistently high but not recording them in FF and Premom but always around 36.6-7. I think if af comes will start to vaginally temp so my charts become more aesthetically pleasing.

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 10:28

@Moocher90 that does all sound very positive. Got everything crossed for you x

MintGreenLife · 10/11/2020 11:28

@Moocher90 sounding good! How many DPO are you now? x

Moocher90 · 10/11/2020 11:47

@MintGreenLife not exactly sure but anywhere between 11-14DPO. Don’t feel confident as I had EWCM a few days ago and I may have actually ovulated a lot later then I thought. Or I’m having an extremely long cycle as currently in CD32. It’s not an issue as this is my first proper cycle since withdrawal bleed at beginning of October.

MintGreenLife · 10/11/2020 11:57

Finally something is happening on CD28! Just did an OPK and it's so close to a positive. My premom app thinks it's not quite there, but looks almost positive to me. Had lots off EWCM this morn and cervix is high too.

Last cycle I had a positive on CD23 in the morn, then back fainter in the afternoon. Then positives CD24 & 25 and OV on CD25, so will be interesting to see what the pattern is this cycle. Will test again this afternoon as may very well go back faint again on the first day like it did last time.

We DTD last night, but not sure whether to try again today given that OV may still be a few days off, but equally I guess it could happen tomorrow too, as I've only ever caught ovulation with OPKs once before, so don't really know what's normal for me 🤷🏻‍♀️
