TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

Crazydoglady123 Hope you’re feeling less sore now Flowers Have you any idea when you’ll hear from your consultant?

I’m a bit weary at the moment. SIL due her 2nd any day, obviously it is lovely news but also feels difficult when we were TTC from before she was PG and still no result. Mad to think she has grown a baby while we have been trying!

OH’s SA came back ‘normal’ except for an increased number of round cells. I’ve had my day 21 bloods and just waiting for day 3 blood results. Can’t find the enthusiasm to call the GP and check my results. Next step is an ultrasound then fertility referral.

At the moment just feel like forgetting the whole thing and accepting it’s not to be. Am now coming into FW - great timing eh? Smile

Hope everyone else is keeping ok?

Hey lovely, I've got to call on the first day of my period to arrange an ultrasound with my consultant and go from there which made me sad as I feel he's assuming I won't be pregnant this cycle again whereas the sonographer and fertility nurse said I have potentially released 5 eggs so surely I have 5 x more chance this time? I took a test Friday which was BFN but not sure if too early. My cycles vary between 28-35days and 28days is Wednesday so holding off testing again till then. Also we have decided though that after I've seen my consultant and see what the cysts are doing we're going to go down the IVF route. I feel soooo bloated and uncomfortable still though at the minute Confused

I totally understand how you must be feeling with your SIL. I've had similar with friends and it's heart wrenching. Do chase your doctor up for you bloods though... Be worth it once you get the ball rolling xx

CausingChaos2 · 01/02/2021 20:27

Oh crazy I really hope this is your lucky month and you don’t need the ultrasound appointment at all. What the fertility nurse said sounds really positive! Maybe the consultant just doesn’t have the best bedside manner. 5 eggs is a lot! Yes I’d definitely wait until AF is due before testing. It’s tempting to test early but then if it’s negative we only end up wondering if it’s too soon to show don’t we? On the day AF is due you should get a definite answer. Bloating is so rubbish, hope you feel better soon Brew Cake

Thank you for nudging me to get my results. I wasn’t interested earlier but I’ve got them now.

Day 21:
Progesterone 52.1 nmol/L (reference 3.8 - 50.6)

Day 3:
FSH 5.4 iu/L (Follicular reference 3.0 - 8.1)

LH 2.1 iu/L (Follicular reference 1.8 - 11.8)

Prolactin 314 mIU/L (40 - 530)

Oestradiol 332 pmol/L (Follicular reference 98 - 571)

Testosterone *0.9 nmol/L (0.3 - 1.7)

I may post a new thread with them. I’ve been researching and my head is just 🤯 now.

Crazydoglady123 · 02/02/2021 07:28

Thank you @CausingChaos2. I don't track my ovulation so I can't say how many DPO I am however the last time we DTD it was super painful (and when they think I ruptured the cysts) and the time before that was uncomfortable so I must have had them then which was 19/01. As the cysts are secondary to ovulation I must have ovulated on or before 19th so would make me the earliest 14DPO today.

So pleased you pushed for you results. For us once we pushed for a referral from our GP (okay we had the Covid shutdown so that wasn't quick) but when it re opened it was quite quick. Not an expert but I'd say your results are good! All within the range albeit your PG a teeny bit higher but I don't think that'd be a worry. I tested low on PG on a 21day on fertility drugs so if you're on nothing then that's a good result Star

CausingChaos2 · 02/02/2021 21:40

Crazy You have great self control not to track your ovulation. I use OPKs and BBT, wish I could be brave enough to just stop using them, but just always want that confirmation. Do you think you’ll test tomorrow or try to hold out a bit longer?

Glad your referral went through quickly, I think the waiting would be really tough. I can cope with stressful situations as long as I feel like I’m doing something to help, sitting on my hands waiting is the hardest part.

I really hope your AF stays away and you have a BFP in the next few days love Flowers

Crazydoglady123 · 02/02/2021 22:05

@CausingChaos2 thank you lovely. Yeah I did them for a few months but I'm terrible at remembering and then when my doctor said I'm not ovulating I wondered what the point was.

It definitely felt nicer when I'd had my first consultation, having a point of contact and the nurses at the hospital I'm being seen at are sooo lovely and helpful. They remember who I am every time I call (not sure if that's good or bad haha!)

I want to test in the morning but I feel a bit heavy tonight but it's so hard as still have a lot going on inside with my cysts so not sure if it's them or AF coming. If I'm not brave enough, I might just collect some FMU and see how the day goes. Somehow coming on feels less heart wrenching than another BFN.

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 07:40

Has anyone kept the FMU for testing later btw? Is that okay to do?

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 08:21

Ignore my last message I couldn't wait so did the FRER this morn and BFN 😢 I really thought this was it at last. I'm CD28 today. Usually I spot 3-5 days before AF but still no sign 😔

CausingChaos2 · 03/02/2021 11:21

Oh that’s really shit crazy I won’t say the usual platitude of you’re not out until AF arrives, but I really hope she doesn’t.

Feel free to tell me to shut up but at least you can contact your consultant soon and get some advice on how to sort out the pain you’re in, and move onto the next step of IVF. It’s rubbish but you really are taking steps bringing you closer to your BFP.

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 11:33

Thank you @CausingChaos2. I know, my OH wants me to stay positive for another week but it's so bloody hard. It's just a constant rollercoaster of emotions! I'm trying to keep in my head it's win, win. If AF comes I get to book a scan to check how the cysts are doing, if it doesn't then hopefully I am pregnant. What didn't help is my bloody Nan text me last night asking if I'm pregnant! Like no one knows and we call her a witch (jokingly of course) and she said the same to my cousin and was right so it gave me so much hope this morning. If she hadn't have said that I wouldn't have tested. My OH says he believes her predictions more than the test 🤣

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 11:34

@CausingChaos2 also, I was thinking last night, your PG level is higher than the range, is that not surely a good sign for you this month?

CausingChaos2 · 03/02/2021 11:58

It’s not the result you would want of course but honestly it’s good that you can get the scan sorted. If I were you I’d try not to see it as a wasted month, as either way something productive will come from it. That’s so funny about your Nan! Who knows, maybe her intuitions are spot on, and if not this month it will happen imminently for you Grin

I had my progesterone test last cycle, and the day 3 bloods on this cycle so unfortunately AF did get me. The GP who requested them also wanted me to do a progesterone test this month but she’s left the practice now so I don’t know if they’d do it. Without wanting to be pessimistic I wonder if I’ve got some underlying issues as I’ve always had terrible periods.

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 12:17

@CausingChaos2 yeah time will tell! I think just like planning things too much and can't cope when it's all out of my control if that makes sense?

That's so frustrating when you find a good doctor and they go! My surgery is rubbish. My doctor wasn't interested in referring me to start with (we'd been TTC for a year) and I literally freaked out at him that with my history of problems I want a referral and all smug he said he would but they'd probably refuse it but he was wrong, I got it 😂 So have been having tests all through your GP at the minute or have have you been referred to Gynae/infertility clinic yet?

CausingChaos2 · 03/02/2021 12:27

Makes perfect sense crazy I’m an organised person too and it’s very frustrating not being able to plan this one huge thing in our lives!

Good for you pushing for a referral. It’s easy for them to fob you off but if there’s underlying issues it’s better to know sooner so action can be taken. Yes so far the GP has just done bloods and a semen sample for OH. She wanted me to go for an ultrasound too but I haven’t heard anything so chased that up and the receptionist at the surgery said I need to send a message to another doctor to get that sorted 🙄 Why the ultrasound request wasn’t sent off a month ago when the GP said she wanted it done I don’t know. Can see how these things end up dragging on now!

Crazydoglady123 · 03/02/2021 14:38

@CausingChaos2 is it just a regular ultrasound your waiting for or a hycosy?

30somethingyorkie · 03/02/2021 17:39

Thank you everyone for your congrats been very quiet because had to have a scan for ectopic (all ok) but waiting for another next week as there may be an issue with the yolk sac. Really hoping not but it's a nervous wait.

Everything crossed for you @30somethingyorkie 🤞 hope you're okay and I know easier said than done but try not to worry

CausingChaos2 · 04/02/2021 01:02

Just a regular one Crazy although I think it may be an internal one which I’m dreading.

30 How worrying for you but I hope all will be ok. Try to stay positive if you can.

Crazydoglady123 · 04/02/2021 11:16

@CausingChaos2 they're not that, it's more (if you haven't had kids already) just undignified but drs have seen it all

tavileh · 04/02/2021 15:15

Thanks for sharing your results @CausingChaos2 I hadn't asked for the specifics for mine, just whether they were normal - gonna ring now and find out the details!

My saga continues, after the chem last month, this month my Clearblue monitor isn't giving me a peak.. 7th day of High now, and started to feel post-ovulation-y, sore boobs etc, so I think either I didn't ovulate, or the monitor missed it?? I've got peaks the past 4 months.. blearugh, why can't things just be normal!!

CausingChaos2 · 07/02/2021 20:00

Thanks for the reassurance Crazy

How did your results fare tavileh ? Really sorry to hear about your MC. I wouldn’t be surprised if the MC has affected your hormones. Perhaps OV will be a bit later than usual this month? Are you managing to DTD just incase?

How is everyone else on the thread getting on? Everyone is pretty quiet so hope you’re all ok. I’m just out of FW. Was annoyed at OH as he was too tired to DTD the day after I got peak on CB. I got peak on CD11 and we DTD on days 9, 10, 11 & 13 so hopefully enough to be in with a chance.

I’ve worked out that if we conceive this month I’d be due October. So we’ve chatted about maybe trying again next month and then missing the month after to avoid a December due date. Despite my meticulous planning Grin I’m pretty fed up and can’t imagine it ever happening!

laura2093 · 07/02/2021 20:05

Okay, I'm 8dpo... light cramps this morning and just gone to the toilet, (SORRY TMI!) brown blood on underwear and bright red blood in toilet.. no cramps now... bit early for AF, normally I'm 28 days to the day... HELP 😩

Crazydoglady123 · 07/02/2021 20:38

@CausingChaos2 I just re read my post to you and meant to write "not that bad." Sounds like you DTD enough otherwise this week. I'm CD32 and still no sign of AF 😐

CausingChaos2 · 07/02/2021 20:43

Ah don’t worry Crazy I thought that’s what you meant Grin

Oh that is so frustrating! Have you done a test over the last couple of days?
