TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

@SparkyLauz is it mean that I’m hoping it takes her at least 3 months, just so she may understand a bit better 🤣😂 I’m honestly thrilled that others don’t struggle, it’s lovely for them, but when it’s that close to home, I wanted to poke her between the eyes and be like hellllllooooo shut up now. Thanks 😂 have you managed to DTD much over your fertile period? I’ve totally forgotten what month you’re on lovely? (I’m month 11- feeels like month 188283733727) 🥴 x

@Doveyy92 Hi lovely!! Aww that’s so so amazing. I am so glad you got everything you wanted eventually 💘 I absolutely LOVE hearing stories like that. It really helps me put into perspective how long we’ve been trying and that it’s not necessarily that anything is wrong as we’ve had all our testing done and we’re all ok!! Really promising about your symptoms too, as I get tender boobs most months before AF and always count myself out when it happens! I really hope I get my positive soon💘 thank you again for sharing that I appreciate those so so much!! Was this a reason BFP?

@Doveyy92 it’s definitely the only place I can come and realise I am not alone!! Ttc in real life is very lonely 😔 lots of my friends didn’t struggle, or so they don’t say!! So you feel like the weird one not being able to get pregnant, but actually, it’s SO normal!! Ahhhhh, how beautiful 💘😍 so amazing. Right before Christmas as well, couldn’t have asked for a better present during these seriously crappy times. Thank you!! I’m 6 + 4 today! The wait for the scan has been SO TOUGH! So many doubts & fears cross your mind! I’m feeling rough this week - nauseous, thought of food makes me feel sick & that ill feeling before you get a bug is constant! Nipples look super weird too!! Can’t complain as long as the wee bean is growing in there 🤞🏼 Scan is wed at 6pm, praying everything is OK 🙏🏻 Thanks for checking in 💜

@Doveyy92 congratulations on your BFP!! ☺️ It’s the best feeling! When are you roughly due? Are you booking an early scan? I have one on Wed at 7 weeks, can’t come soon enough!! The wait to a scan is worse than the TWW - and that’s bad! xxx

@MJM1608, thank you 🙏🏼 🎉 congratulations to you too! Is this your first?, it’s telling me on NHS website approx 6th August 21, iv yet to book a doctors appointment because when we first started TTC we had a really early MC, where I got a positive for a few days then AF came, was completely heartbreaking, didn’t even make it to the first docs appointment so this time I’m leaving it a week or so before docs then yes I think I will do the same and book an early one for peace of mind! Sometimes I feel it’s too good to be true and try not to get my hopes up :( yes I am with you, this wait does feel worse than the TWW, once I get that il be settled. Xxx

@MJM1608 thanks for checking in! Yes AF showed and I'm now CD6 of cycle 12 :( I keep seeing ladies in cycle 12,13,15 etc getting their first BFPs so am hopeful that this just means I'm that much closer to my own BFP.

@Doveyy92 Yep this is my first - no idea what I’m doing 😅 and you? Sorry to hear about the chemical pregnancy (what it sounds like), I had one too in September. We were honestly jumping for joy, then the bleeding started days later - it was devastating!! It’s so hard to believe everything is OK & I have doubts / anxieties every day - but you just have to believe this is your time ❤️ I waited 5 days to book my NHS appointments & then booked the private one after I passed 5 weeks. Still doesn’t feel real, not until that scan is OK! The excitement will come & hope for us both that we will have our summer babies! 🥰 xxx

Yes, same haven’t a baldy yet 😂, I guess that comes with time. Yeah I think that’s what it was, makes you very paranoid about this one, it just shows how common it is if you experienced it too! I’m trying to enjoy it as much as I can and my sister who has been through it herself has been very supportive and I think as long as we have someone or wee forums like this it makes it feel like your not alone 💖 I feel very much the same with the scan, once it’s been done and I see the little peanut a weight will be lifted! 🙏🏼 Xxx

Hi all sorry I've been awol. Work and life has been manic so not had time to jump on. I'm now cycle 9 CD19 (I have a 35 day cycle, joy!) stayed away from OPKs this month but should be in my FW any day now. Luckily DH and I have got this week off work so plan to be less stressed and lots of DTD!

@SparkyLauz your post made me laugh, my DH is exactly the same, not a clue about it all, going to try and explain it a bit more this week so I don't feel crazy on my own

@MJM1608 thanks beaut 💘 I actually decided to mention it to her and say of course I’m super happy for them, but I’m also feeling a little sad for myself it hasn’t happened yet, and she was actually really supportive so I’m SO glad I said something. She’s now rooting for us both 🤞🏼 So my cycles have been around 32 days for a while now, but I think I ovulated late this month as I did one OPK as I saw loads of EWCM! That was CD20, so I think It’ll be around 2 days away ahhh! I don’t have my usual pms symptoms, no sore boobs, whereas usually 1 week before I always get them!! So very very strange. But trying not to think too much into it. I refuse to early test, but It’s hard 😂

Ahhhh it’s going SO slow isn’t it!!!! Good luck for Wednesday I’m sure it’ll be perfect 💘 I hope after then you can relax a little bit more. Although, I’m sure it’s just a constant worry until 12 weeks!! SO bloody happy for you 🥰 x x

@Juno231 sorry you’re going into cycle 12 lovely 😔 I’ll be joining you in a few days if AF arrives. It feels somewhat sad to actually say cycle 12 doesn’t it? Really thought it would have happened by now. By like you say, it’s pushing us closer to our BFP🥰🤞🏼 How are you feeling?

@MJM1608 and @izzie94 We didn't DTD during the week last week but did it Friday night got the smiley face on Saturday morning DTD Saturday and then Sunday night so hoping that it covered it?! Never done it more than once past the smiley day before so maybe that's where ive been going wrong previously 🤞 feeling really positive though this time. This is cycle 9 for me and 7.5 months of TTC. AF due around 10th December.

@MJM1608 Cant beleive you're 6+4 already!! Have you told anyone at all yet or just us girlie's on here? I bet its hard not being able to tell anyone just yet i know i would be bursting haha

@30somethingyorkie its a really good idea to talk to you DH about it😊 I felt a lot less anxious during the FW this time as he knows how important it is now to nail it over these days!

@Izzie94 haha yes, cycle 12 has an extra bit of depression to it, doesn't it? For me it's knowing that 84% or whatever conceive in the first year, so automatically feels a bit crappy to fall into the 16%! If you AF shows in the next few days, when is your next FW?

Yeah I’ve been using OPKs for a few months now and temping for two. I do find them useful for confirming ovulation. I’m also taking pregnacare conception. I’ve tried different things like seed cycling and extra b and c vitamins but I’ve stopped those. I’m now taking evening primrose oil until ovulation and I’m starting Agnus castus and ubiquionol this cycle 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve had some checks done in the past because I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding on the pill and everything came back normal then but starting to worry something might wrong like Fallopian tubes or something but hopefully not and it’ll happen soon 🤞🏻I get quite long periods though so worrying there could be some hormonal imbalance either so that’s why I’m trying the Agnus castus. I’ve rung the gp and they won’t do any day 3 blood test or anything like that until it’s been a year so just gotta keep going!

@Cams50 I think we all go into the TWW totally chilled but then it all goes to pot half way through 😂 telling yourself you won't be symptom spotting then you feel something that you 'haven't had before' and half way through your convinced this is the month! Test too early get a bfn start spotting beleive its IB get hopes up again then 2/3 days later AF shows up. Thats been me every month for what feels like forever! Its such a rollarcoaster!

I dont temp as I don't think i could be bothered with it tbh. I just use OPKs which I probably don't really need either as going through my diary its more or less the same day each month I get the CB smiley face. But I just like to see that smiley face haha gives me a boost mid month!

The only thing im taking is folic acid. It sounds like youre totally on the ball with all the supplements! I'm sure if you've had all sorts of checks before then something will have been flagged up before now so youre worrying for nothing 😊

@SparkyLauz yep that’s literally me every month 😂 yeah the OPKs are reassuring alright. I love getting the positive one!! Thanks you’re probably right. I’m probably wasting my money on all this but it’s taking so long so I like to feel that I’m helping things along in some way. Hope the tww goes quickly for you!

@Juno231 literally 😔 I really never thought it would take us this long a year marks a really depressing time but we will get there lovely!! Were you in any contraceptive prior? I was and it’s my excuse that it “took a while to adjust after” not sure if that’s really a thing but it makes me feel better 😂 my next FW will be Christmas week if I get AF so not that bad seeing as DH will get a few days off and we can drink copious amounts of wine 😋 x

@izzie94 yes! I was on the pill for 14 years. I did stop it last Sept so you'd think that would be all out of my system now but I still have pretty bad post pill acne from it and I still never know what to expect from my cycle. My AF is different every month, so is my LP so god knows what's going on.

That's a brilliant FW to have BTW! I'm worried ours will be a bit crap if it's starting tomorrow as I have so much work to get done before Xmas leave that I'm knackered and stressed all the time 😅. Got two ovulations in January though so that could be my lucky month!

@Juno231 oh my god I got AWFUL post pill acne and I’ve never ever suffered before, not even in my teenage years. It was really awful and made me feel so shit. Luckily it’s cleared up now, only a month or so ago though!! So I really do think our hormones are whacked out when we come off for some of us!! I did read someone put on here that a fertility specialist had told them some contraceptives stop your endometrial lining building up, so when you come off the pill it can take up to a year for it to actually build back to a reasonable thickness!! (I never knew that!) so I think that’s why they say 2 years, 1 year for your body to adjust back to “normal” and a year to conceive 😩 my periods were also very very light when I first came off and only now seem to be reaching 3/4 days of flow which is good.

Awww definitely makes it harder when you’re so flat out doesn’t it! Feels like effort and some nights I wish I could just be like naaa😩😂 but then I worry I’ve missed it!! 2021 is going to be our year 🤞🏼✨ x

@Izzie94 I agree 100%, I struggle to leave "the office" at a time I normally would, I'm probably doing 46 hour weeks and not taking the breaks I normally would in the office, I need to get better!!

@SparkyLauz spoke to DH about how it all works and he was quite shocked. He even said how lucky he was to have his DS as an accident with this being the case. Doesn't help that I can't do that though! But I think he gets my stressing more now so thanks for the advice

@Izzie94 and @30somethingyorkie thanks so much! It’s so nice to talk to people in the same boat. We haven’t told anyone that we’re ttc and I think there’s only so much of me talking about ttc that my DH can handle 😂 I’m feeling ok. Some days I’m really positive and thinking about the new cycle and the fact my body was getting back to normal off the pill and lots of people take this long etc but then other days I feel really down about it. But so lovely that there’s already been a bfp on this thread and yes 2021 will be all of our years 🤞🏻 Fingers crossed for everyone!

My fertile week will be the week before Christmas so I’ll also be knackered with work but going to have to power through 🤣🍆 so I’ll be like 7dpo at Christmas which is tricky as way too soon to test but I’ll probably feel a bit guilty about drinking loads and eating so much Brie etc but think I’ve decided that I’m going to enjoy my Christmas and eat and drink and they say when you relax it happens so 🤞🏻🎄

Hi lovely ladies! Just catching up! Fiiiinally had my 7w scan tonight - our little beans heart was beating strong & measuring well! I am exactly 7w so dating is still the same as I expected ☺️ It was really amazing to see - no tears, just in shock!!

I'm on cycle 6 of TTC and I'm having a bit of a tough day.

I try and be as positive as possible on the outside but I'm devastatingly impatient in reality.

Anyway in the last few weeks my husband's best man announced he and his wife were pregnant, my friend's younger sister is pregnant and my other friend has just announced she's pregnant with twins earlier this evening.

Was a bit like a knife to the heart and I'm starting to think there's something wrong.

No one told me during sex education it would be this hard

Oh I’m so happy for you and also very much wish I could join you! 🤰 from my late ovulation I think AF will come tomorrow.. my boobs started being sore a few days ago and I got a little excited as it was much later in my cycle but they seem to have tapered off today 🥺 so fully expect AF tomorrow and I’m feeling really down about it. Cycle 12 for me!

@NatMoz hi lovely. I really feel your pain, nothing makes it easier and I’m fed up of people telling me to relax it’ll happen! 😂 it’s really really tough and others don’t quite understand if it’s been a short journey for them. I’m on cycle 11 and probably going into cycle 12 tomorrow.. no fertility issues, had checks etc ☹️ It just bloody sucks x
