And if so, did you do anything different to assist conception?

My best friend's mum was 48 when she was born

I can't help with what helped but just wanted to give you hope

GeordieGirl47 · 16/10/2020 00:26

Thank you Smile

My friends colleague thought she was going through the menopause and it turned out it was a baby- she was 50! (Sorry not to be of more help, I don't know the woman.)

GeordieGirl47 · 16/10/2020 00:36

willowtree81 Wow! I'm assuming she carried to term?

No. Don't know anyone first hand.

Realladymarmalade · 16/10/2020 01:38

One of the 'aestheticians" at my local clinic was 46. Thought was menopause. Owing to the amount of botox and other work she has done she looks about 36 too. Presumably nothing assisted as it was a happy accident 🙉

I know someone who had a baby at 47. Total surprise, they went on holiday and it just happened. They were shocked and delighted! He’s now a healthy 12-year-old.😄

Aridane · 16/10/2020 04:11

No

GeordieGirl47 · 16/10/2020 12:56

Thank you,
I know the chances are tiny ,was just looking for a little hope and inspiration. Smile

I don't know for sure but my friend thought she did carry to term and had a girl (she thinks). I think with donor eggs you can carry a baby for much longer can't you? Also I think your mums' age at menopause can give an indication of when you might expect it? Best of luck to you! Nothing is impossible 😍

GeordieGirl47 · 16/10/2020 23:23

willowtree81 Aww! How lovely!
Yea, I've heard the theories about menopause but it doesn't apply in my case thankfully. My mum had menopause at 41 but I'm still regular as clockwork every month and ovulating.
I wouldn't use donor eggs, I have adult children, it's more a case of what will be will be situation.
Thanks for your good wishes Smile

My mum had her first baby at 22 and her last baby at 47. It was a surprise, and she then didn’t go through the menopause until 55.

Good luck to you OP.

My godmother had 6 children. The last two she had aged 47 and 49.

Not a soul other than a dog walker in our area who had her first and only baby at 46, naturally, by all accounts.

BewilderedDoughnut · 16/10/2020 23:57

Why would anyone want to?? 😐

Aridane · 17/10/2020 06:33

Because they want a baby obviously

BewilderedDoughnut · 17/10/2020 08:18

I think 48 is WAY over the hill in regards to reproduction to be honest. Move on to other things.

Namechange8471 · 18/10/2020 11:51

Why would anyone want to??

Oh bore off!

PopcornPugs · 18/10/2020 11:54

Men have babies in their 70s and 80s! Personally I’m feeling too old now in my late 30s but if your body can still do it and you want to then why not. My grandmother had her last baby at 48, he was an accident but completely naturally conceived

Aridane · 18/10/2020 16:33

Ah, @BewilderedDoughnut has spoken. That’s you told, OP - you had officially been pronounced WAY over the hill

Aridane · 18/10/2020 16:33

🙄

Sunnydaysstillhere · 18/10/2020 16:35

I had a mc naturally at home at 49..
After a successful pregnancy at 43..

Pikachubaby · 18/10/2020 16:38

A friend of mine had a baby at 47 through ivf

I am 48, and empty nest is looming.... I do daydream about a baby sometimes, but am now channeling all my unneeded love into my dog (and hoping to get a second dog this year Grin)

Good luck whatever you decide

Runningdownthathill · 18/10/2020 16:39

I have a friend who conceived accidentally at 46.
