@Newbie0818 I guess that does make sense!!

@notyetamumbuttrying I think if it gets to over a year with us I'll definitely consider going private too!!

@AmesK sorry I have no idea what that could be, I've never experienced bleeding between periods, I wish I could help!! I hope you find some answers x

Franklydear · 22/10/2020 21:14

@AmesK I don’t know, never heard of it, but wanted to hold your hand all the same xx

Franklydear · 22/10/2020 21:17

@Vil10 coming to the year mark before next af, at 43 I don’t think help is available or have time for it, tbh, I don’t even know how much longer we’ll be trying. I hope it doesn’t come to the year for you

Juno231 · 22/10/2020 21:20

@AmesK have a look at this page, but scroll down to the ovulatory section

www.clinicaladvisor.com/home/features/causes-of-abnormal-uterine-bleeding/

Either way I'd suggest you get referred to a gyno? You could probably push for it quite easily by citing fear of cancer.

AmesK · 22/10/2020 21:44

@Vil10 Thanks! Yes would definitely love some answers! That’ll be a first 😂

@Franklydear I really needed that hand hold! 💓💓💓 I hope you get your BFP just around the corner and you don’t even get to the year mark! Xxx

@Juno231 This link looks bloody excellent! Lots of great info and I’ll take my time going through and making sure I understand how the info relates to my situation. So I’ve already seen Gynae about it and it was the Gynae consultant who said he didn’t know! Weird! Confused
Thanks for your support though 💕💕

notyetamumbuttrying · 22/10/2020 22:09

@Vil10 I don't blame ya hun, I doubt it will though. Buzzing for your bfp babe.
@AmesK wow that the gynae said that to you, how bloody worrying! 😬 hope you get it sorted soon x

Skip86 · 22/10/2020 23:14

Morning my sunshines 🦋

Oh @AmesK hon I'm so sorry you're feeling this way, you sound really down. Though I do think it'd be worth pushing your doc more for the ivf appointment, I'm also wondering if there's someone you can see just to talk about your feelings to work on your mental health? This ttc caper can be stressful, and I hope you're taking care of yourself 💗
Oh yes and all of what @Minster2012 said! Time to start fighting for it I say 💪🏼 you got this.
On the blood thing I'm not sure, but I am sure that your consultant is a tool.

@Mrsbear1122 so sorry to hear your news. Glad you are feeling positive though. Sending lots of hugs x

@Franklydear aw your OH and boy are so sweet!

@Kirky658 struggling to care 😂 I like that. We didn't tell anyone at all, then since being pg and losing it we did tell close family and friends, which sort of means now they know we're trying. I actually wish they didn't know!

I'm painting windows today! Fun times. 10DPO x

Newbie0818 · 23/10/2020 06:39

@2020mission ahh that's so annoying because your mind naturally starts whirring about implantation! Well I hope it IS that and not just a whacky cycle for you 🤞🏼

@Kirky658 ahh sorry you have it, truly sucks. Actually it would be really helpful if you could share your symptoms? Do you have any "non-textbook" ones? I can't work out if my symptoms are just my pcos or something more...
I haven't told anyone apart from my best friend, but she's just not child orientated and really doesn't understand and feels a bit awkward I think. I think if I get to the 2 year mark and still nothing I'll tell my family as I can't cope with questions about it any longer and having to pretend we're "not ready".

@notyetamumbuttrying period pain can SUCK IT!

@AmesK ooh cycle buddies! I never really get to say that haha. Also, I tend to bleed for 3/4 days with af, then have a 2 day break, and then BAM another pad of blood randomly. I do wonder if it's a blockage... not sure if that's similar though.
Definately complain like others have said x

AmesK · 23/10/2020 08:39

Morning everyone :)

@notyetamumbuttrying I know! I was shocked by what the Gynae consultant said because it wasn’t even remotely empathic or professional

@Skip86 Hahaha loving the tool comment! It’s great to have some backup from you guys :) You’re right, I do need to keep pushing but yes, it is all very lonely and I’ve not really been talking to friends and family about it because they ask too many questions and it makes me feel inadequate. I don’t know if that makes sense? There’s been a new GP in my practice who I’ve rung up with a couple of questions and she seems very supportive!

@Newbie0818 How funny because it seems we have similar cycle timings but kind of back to front! I tend to spot for a day, then have nothing for 2-3 days and then have 3-4 days of proper flow! It’s very weird!

Kirky658 · 23/10/2020 08:40

@newbie0818 no worries, it took me 8 years to get a diagnosis so I'm always happy to share if it helps someone! Did you see the info on This Morning the other day about endometriosis?

The problem with the condition is that it's so badly informed. GPs don't take symptoms seriously and you just get fobbed off time and time again.

My symptoms were pain during sex, excruciating painful periods, migraines, fatigue so badly I couldn't function properly, IBS symptoms and nausea a lot of the time as well. I used to get pains down my thighs a few days before my period came which I now know is a classic sign. When I was a teenager they put me on so many contraceptive pills to try and regulate my cycle as I was bleeding every 2-3 weeks it was horrendous. During the break on the pills my pain was even more severe and I collapsed several times. Eventually I got a severe headache which dulled my vision so I was forced to come off oestrogen based contraceptives. Only found out a few years back that the oestrogen makes endo grow., no GP ever told me so it got worse and worse...

The thing is it is so difficult to diagnose. After 8 years I got diagnosed in 2018 during laparoscopic surgery and some endo was removed, my symptoms didn't improve so I found a specialist luckily not far from me under the NHS and after a 2 year wait got my surgery in June and was told I had widespread stage 3 endo, but it was removed.

The tricky thing is that everyone's symptoms vary so much, you can have a lot of endo and little pain or a little endo and lots of pain. Best advice I can give you is to keep a diary of your symptoms so when you go to the GP you can prove it's in line with your period. They don't want to do the surgery to diagnose as it's expensive and risky but sometimes has to be done!,

Sorry for the essay but just want to help as I don't want anyone to struggle like I did xx ❤️

LaceyMermaid · 23/10/2020 08:53

@AmesK I agree with everyone else you need to push. Shouldn’t have to but I’ve always found you don’t get anywhere if you don’t (not TTC related but with getting one of my dc a diagnosis I had to fight for years and was made to feel like I was going mad)!
No AF here still this morning at 14dpo, normally arrive 12dpo so wondering if it’s just a weird cycle as I got BFN on IC. Got FRER in the drawer but too scared to do one now as I’m sure that’ll be BFN too. Temp has gone back up now except dip on 12dpo. Confusing!

Missgoldilocks · 23/10/2020 08:58

Morning ladies

@amesk have you had a smear in the time that the bleeding has happened?? How long has it been going on for?

Franklydear · 23/10/2020 09:02

I have pretty bad asthma, but outside I look ok, every time I get a new gp, they insist on doing the whole diagnosis again, yes, maybe the all got it wrong for the last 28 years and I've been fine all along, tosser.

Minster2012 · 23/10/2020 09:22

@AmesK I totally agree with the others you need to be throwing cervical cancer at them, throw everything at them, abnormal bleeding is NOT right.

@Skip86 10dpo how you feeling other than inhaling paint fumes?

We are off to the a cottage by the seaside today until Sunday, good times

Juno231 · 23/10/2020 09:35

@amesk haha that gynae was shocking then! I agree with the others to push and advocate for yourself - but am also fully aware it's easier said than done and how easy it is for medical professional to dismiss us. At the very least you should definitely be on a fertility clinic referral list by now and don't accept any of that "after covid" malarkey.

9DPO here and first time ever that I haven't test yet at this stage of my cycle! Channelling @notyetamumbuttrying 's zen attitude here. Temp was 36.74 today so it hasn't started dropping either yet :)

LBee2020 · 23/10/2020 09:57

@kirky658 Thank you for sharing this story. I only really heard about endo a year or 2 ago yet I now know that several friends have been battling with it for years, unbeknownst to me. It's baffling that they spend hours and hours telling us that we are all doomed to get pregnant if we dont use 17 types of contraception but no teenage girls (or not when I was at school) are taught about things like PCOS and endo, which are more likely to affect them!

Juno231 · 23/10/2020 10:12

Speaking of endo - our PA has it so badly that I often see her limping around the office in pain :( she's taught me a lot about it and I was super happy for her this summer as she took the step to freeze embryos to make sure she could have kids down the line. Mind you, she has it BAD and I've never met anyone else with the level of endo she has. I just find it fascinating all these things that can go wrong that like you said @Kirky658 - no one teaches us about and even doctors seem to be pretty clueless about!

OP posts:
Kirky658 · 23/10/2020 10:15

@Lbee2020 I know it's absolutely shocking, so much more common than you think as well.

Forgot to add that they thought due to my pain levels I had an undetectable STD... Turns out of course it was endo which also caused spotting between periods.

@Amesk deffo keep pushing them.. Bleeding between sex can be caused by anything and isn't normal. Mine was caused by a combo of endo related issues, and something called a cervical ectropion which bled like clockwork every time me And DH had sex... Like a period for a week. A TVUS diagnosed that, quick procedure to burn off some cells around the cervix and all OK again now. I completelt understand how frustrating gynaecologists can be too. I was told that getting pregnant would cure my endo.. Like many others. Doesn't work BTW!!! Good luck lovely and keep smiling as best you can xxx

Vil10 · 23/10/2020 10:29

@Franklydear I really hope it happens for you soon!! Do you have any children already or is this your first?

@notyetamumbuttrying I have another 6 cycles to go yet so hopefully 1 is lucky!

@Kirky658 I didn't realise irregular periods was a symptom too?? Sounds ridiculous and I always feel awful saying it to people who do suffer but I've always had a feeling I have either endo or pcos, but my periods have always been regular so maybe I don't, but you know when you just have a few symptoms so it's in the back of your mind?

Kirky658 · 23/10/2020 10:35

@Vil10 yes irregular periods can be a symptom, usually its more pronounced with heavy periods more though. I never feel bad chatting to anyone who thinks they have it as I would much prefer to help tbh. I was so fortunate I found a Facebook support group which a lady founded whereby she spends so much time researching endo, the symptoms, gathering evidence and making sure women and girls have the right evidence to take to their GP to get a referral. If it wasn't for her I don't know what I would have done.

LaceyMermaid · 23/10/2020 12:15

Chart people ( @Juno231 😀) do you think I did ovulate? BFN for me never got to 14dpo before so now thinking maybe I didn’t ovulate! Sure my chart suggests I did though

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/10/2020 12:31

@Newbie0818 it's the worse isn't it! Dreading mine appearing next week, even more misery whilst ttc 😖
@AmesK that's so bad! I'd be tempted to complain but then I always pussy out 🙈 I'm a big scaredy cat mostly 😂
@Juno231 good to hear mate 😏 I'm feeling pretty zen today, it's amazing how much more relaxed I am knowing that we have an issue and it'll get sorted one way or another. Just gotta wait a while longer and hopefully I'll have a POA soon! Let's hope this is your month matey!
@LBee2020 you're so right around the education of these things at schools, it's shocking really!
@Vil10 two of my friends fell on month 9 of ttc so you just know never. I'm sure it won't get to the year mark for you hun. Is Dh in his 20s too? Should help if he's young too. Nice agile swimmers in him 😆

Juno231 · 23/10/2020 12:44

@LaceyMermaid yeah def looks ovulatory to me! Maybe it will show later today if you're getting BFNs?

OP posts:
LaceyMermaid · 23/10/2020 12:47

@Juno231 thanks all the indicators are there but this has thrown me off completely! Been cramping badly for nearly a week but nothing has shown. Very strange but another example of how our bodies can mess us around!

Vil10 · 23/10/2020 13:09

@Kirky658 when we say heavy, how heavy? When I was younger I suffered with heavy periods really bad but they got better as I got older, I have ibs and sometimes when having sex, if my legs are up, it hurts a bit kinda like a trapped wind feeling? But I also know that having ibs can cause sex to be painful sometimes! I went to the doctors a few months back and they lots of blood tests like progesterone, thyroid, female sex hormones etc and they were all fine and the doctor said with those results and regular periods he doubts I have anything, but it's still in the back of my mind🤷🏽‍♀️ that's so lovely of that woman, I'm glad you had that to group to help you!

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah I think it definitely just depends doesn't it, some just take longer than others! He turned 30 in June, but I hope he's still got some young swimmers left😂
