Trying to conceive baby No 1 over 40

October1979 · 13/10/2020 16:07

I am 40 nearly 41 and ttc baby no1. I fell pregnant for the first time in December but suffered a missed miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks in February. I've been trying ever since with no luck. I use Clearblue advanced fertility monitor. Take vitamin B, C and Co Q10 as well as pre conception tablets daily. Until lockdown I did weekly acupuncture. I guess I'm feeling low as af turned up today and I turn 41 very soon.

I am usually positive and hopeful. Trying to think what's for me won't go past me...

Looking for some buddies in the same boat or some over 40s who conceived naturally to give me hope and share their secret to success.

@Honey2 OMGGGG YASSSSS!!!! Congratulations!!!! These positives make me so happy!!!!

I know you will now have THE FEAR but remember this: whatever the outcome - and there’s every reason to believe it’s a sticky bean - you have been able to become pregnant. This is huge! And wonderful news because if for some reason this doesn’t stick, you can become pregnant again. Even a 30 year-old woman faces risks, and you’ve done SO MUCH to ensure your body is ready for this.

Stop taking ubiquinol if you are, and breathe and enjoy the moment.

Do you mind reminding me your age? It makes me happy to know I’m no SO OLD to be trying xxxxxx

P.S. - YAY AGAIN!! Flowers

Honey2 · 13/05/2021 09:11

@Geriatric1234 thank you so much! Your message made me cry... such positive and kind words. I turned 41 at the beginning of this month.
I know I should look at the positive that I have gotten pregnant so that’s hurdle 1 at least! But I also fell preg end of Jan and lost it at 7 weeks which of course is adding to the stress.

I was wondering about the Ubquinol so thanks for that. I’ll just carry on with my pregnacare and top up of an extra 400ug of folic acid.

Gonna be a long 48hrs before I test again on Sat!!

I’ve attached a pic of the test - I’m not going mad am I? That is A real line??

@Honey2 DEFINITELY a BFP! Strong one for 10dpo too! Xxxx

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/05/2021 10:20

@October1979 sometimes I think the docs are right when they say just dtd every other day all through cycle but do they actually realise how hard that is? (Or isn't 😂) hopefully you haven't missed it

@Honey2 oooh yes! Let's hope this is a sticky little bean for you! Definitely a great line for 10dpo 🤞🏻

Honey2 · 13/05/2021 12:03

@Marvellouslymadmum thanks for your comment, keeping everything crossed!!

sabtom · 13/05/2021 12:38

I think you are right @Marvellouslymadmum . But every two days all month long is tough. I hope I'm ovulating in the next couple of days. Dtd tonight and will do it again tomorrow and Saturday just to make sure xx

Congratulations on BFPs!
I had my period late for 3 days and tested but it was negative and then AF arrived. Ahhh I had my hopes this month. Now getting ready for the next cycle.

Honey2 · 13/05/2021 22:18

@October1979 thanks! Fingers crossed it sticks.
Glad you finally got a peak opk, sending baby dust! Do you ever check your cervix as a clue to fertile period? I tried but was never sure what I was feeling!!

October1979 · 13/05/2021 22:32

@Honey2 I've tried checking my cervix but like you I'm never sure xx

@October1979 it's really tough to keep up, we've not managed the whole month yet! Got a feeling this month won't be the one as starting my fw today and dtd last night but I have a smear on Tuesday, oh has his sa on Thursday so have to abstain for a few days before and I have my second jab on Saturday 🙄

Miller2021 · 14/05/2021 10:52

Omg @Honey2 congratulations! What fabulous news, fingers firmly crossed for you - lovely to see a positive test on this thread, it gives me hope! x

Honey2 · 14/05/2021 13:36

@GingerFox2021 sorry it wasn’t your month. Fingers crossed for next one.

@Miller2021 thank you!

birdbybird · 14/05/2021 13:59

Congratulations@Honey2.
Any tips for what you did this month?

Geriatric1234 · 14/05/2021 18:54

PSA: so after my period was weirdly 5 days early, i did some investigating and it turns out the Covid vaccine can cause that to happen. It has no impact on fertility/pregnancy of TTC stats, but because your womb is part of the immune system it can cause your period to be early/late/heavy. I was freaking out about menopause and now have progesterone test booked and paid for 🤣

In case any of you have similar experience and freak out (like I did). Xxx

Honey2 · 14/05/2021 21:42

@Geriatric1234 thanks for the info, really useful.

@birdbybird thanks! I was temping and using opks to time BDing and then DTD on the 3 days running up to ovulation and ovulation day as well. (Thank god I ovulated on day 4 as we were running out of energy!!) I’ve also been taking ubiquanol, D3 and extra folic acid as well as standard pregnacare. So nothing to unusual... crossing everything that this is a good egg!

soontobeamama · 14/05/2021 23:00

Thanks @Geriatric1234

Can I ask how you booked the progesterone test? xx

October1979 · 15/05/2021 13:25

How are you getting on @Honey2 did you do a second test? How's the line progression. Hope you are doing well x

birdbybird · 15/05/2021 14:57

Hello people,
I’ve booked myself in for dose number one of the Covid vaccine next week.
Currently 4dpo. Tww sucks :(

Honey2 · 15/05/2021 16:51

@October1979 so kind of you to ask, ok I think - did another FRER today and line was definitely darker but not as dark as the test just yet. Sorry I’ve only got a screen grab from my Femometer app. I’ve nervous as hell though. I’ve had spotting on and off - only very slight on wiping. Had some 9 and 10 dpo (pink) nothing yesterday and then a tiny bit this morning (brown) praying it’s still just implantation bleeding. I know it’s in the lap of the gods but can’t help but worry. Do have sore nips and mild nausea though too. I’m going to get a couple of clear blue digital and do one on Tuesday (due date) hopefully it will be 2-3.

How are you doing?

Honey2 · 15/05/2021 16:53

Forgot the pic!

October1979 · 15/05/2021 16:56

@Honey2 that looks like a strong healthy line! That is much darker than mines was with CP last cycle. I know it's nerve wracking but stay positive. I think it looks very good. They say brown spotting is old blood and not to worry. How many dpo are you now? Xx

OP posts:
October1979 · 15/05/2021 16:59

@Honey2 I'm good. I think I ovulated cd19 this month. Got my peak on Thursday so think my 2WW starts today. Don't know if the CP last cycle messed with my cycle or my Covid jab. But at least I've had my peak. Fingers crossed xx
