No idea how we managed to smash through 1,000 messages (40% of them are probably me anyway, ha!) in such a short space of time, but a new thread is needed for the post pill TTC party, so here it is...

Tag anyone I've forgotten please, and new party-goers always welcome :)

@Sarahp2308 some of the women on this thread have had periods stop and start - so it could be that? If it doesn't re-start then definitely test.

@AnonymousXXIX I am very career driven and I really enjoy my job too. I have been here a year and a half and I would be very worried about missing an opportunity whilst I was away. Luckily I feel my company would be quite supportive and I think they have quite a good mat pay package (i need to check that though clearly!). I suggested shared parental leave to my DH but he said no - he has a really high pressured job that pays quite a bit more than mine so it wouldn't make sense for him to take mat leave I suppose.

Trying4one · 09/10/2020 12:28

@Kay00 I have worried about missing opportunities as well. I am on a 2 year contract ending early February and they have already confirmed that I am getting another 2 year contract. They are very keen for me to take a step up when the opportunity comes up. At the moment there is a vacant position but there is a recruitment freeze and people are at risk of losing their jobs. My job had been confirmed as safe and I know there is no real chance of the vacancy being advertised whilst off. I still worry that I will miss the opportunity though as I really want to stay within the team as they are all amazing to work with.

Sarahp2308 · 09/10/2020 13:49

Thanks @Kay00 will keep an eye on it for today and see what happens tomorrow..my body has been a pain this cycle 😂

Juno231 · 09/10/2020 14:43

@AnonymousXXIX I'm planning on splitting leave with OH, but more from the point of view that I don't want him to be a secondary parent or not feel as confident with the kiddos later on. I can't stand my friends family dynamics where the dads always seem useless around the kids or defer to the mum - yuck. But also - I think I'd be fuming if my OH didn't want to take any parental leave? Like how does a parent justify that.

@AMS19 omg I can't wait for mat leave in order to get away from work - 100%!

AMS19 · 09/10/2020 15:08

For me im quite lucky as I get 20 weeks full paid, and also have a share save plan mature end of this year which pays out quite a large sum for 3 years worth of saving. So plan to take the full 12 months.

Long term i think I'll go back full time. If I have more than 1 then maybe go part time. For me it all depends on how I feel. I dont think it would impact my career (I'm an accountant in a large company) because they are big on supporting women etc, but im more worried my career might be impaxted because it isnt a focus for me, does that might sense? I'm worried i just won't care about work at all anymore!

Flowerkm · 09/10/2020 15:36

@AMS19 My company I work for is exactly the same..😋 i wonder hehe!

AMS19 · 09/10/2020 15:38

@Flowerkm ahh! You might have to send me a private message just in case 😉

Flowerkm · 09/10/2020 15:39

@AMS19 Ill drop you one now 😋 don't worry - my team isn't in accounting so won't give it away hehe xx

Kay00 · 09/10/2020 16:23

Oh dear... I have looked at my company mat pay policy and it is will confusing!

To be eligible for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), employees must have completed 26 weeks' continuous service by the 15th week before the Expected Week of Childbirth (EWC). SMP is paid at the rate of:

six weeks at 90% of salary; and
33 weeks at the SMP rate.

Employees eligible for SMP will automatically be eligible for Company Maternity Pay. This is 26 weeks at full pay, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity Pay.

Company Maternity Pay is inclusive of SMP.

Kay00 · 09/10/2020 16:24

so is that: 6 weeks ate 90% pay, then 26 weeks at full pay then 13 weeks Sat Mat? Gawd knows!

PumpkinEverything · 09/10/2020 17:01

TGIF! I’m at the stage now where I wish my body would decide what it’s doing this month, I’m 7 DPO/CD38. The middle of my back has been sore since yesterday which I think is because I’ve barely been able to get off my kitchen seat this week from working so much. I’m also so irritable and it’s making me feel like a crazy person and I can’t tell if it’s just because my work is annoying me so much, or if AF is coming, or what it is. I also feel so ugh about my body as I’ve felt bloated almost everyday this week; and know as soon as I eat my dinner shortly I’m going to feel the same later. Despite feeling so fat and horrible, I also want to eat everything, mostly crisps and chocolate Sad

Just need a wee rant this afternoon Grin

Sarahp2308 · 09/10/2020 17:30

@Kay00 I think companies make these things confusing on purpose! I get 16 weeks half pay on top of SMP after the 6 weeks 90% pay or I can have it in a lump sum... but if I don’t go back I have to return it

Puffin85 · 09/10/2020 18:25

@PumpkinEverything being stressed/preoccupied makes me irritable and then I feel like an evil woman! Even worse if you don't know what's causing it. Hehe I think I am going to eat all the crisps later too (it's Friday after all). Are you going to test in a few days or will you wait to see if AF comes? Really not looking forward to my 1st 2ww, I'm sure I'll go bonkers

PumpkinEverything · 09/10/2020 18:51

@Puffin85 it’s making me feel like a crazy person! I have ate lots of carbs and crisps today already, and am going to Tesco soon and will probably buy more Blush I’m going to try and hold off until AF comes or 14 DPO. Judging by previous cycles (and I forget about ovulation) I’ve had 39, 41 or 45 day’s before, so I feel like I have lots of chances for her to show up within the next week!

Puffin85 · 09/10/2020 19:24

I do think it's sensible waiting until 14dpo. I know I'll be itching to test sooner, but I'm planning to try hold out. Annoying not having regular periods/long cycles... There's always going to be that 'what if' until AF actually arrives? Did you have long cycles before you were on the pill? If you remember. I think mine might have been about 35 days, but that's just a guess. Wasn't exactly paying attention back then!

Maybe just embrace the carbs today if that's what you need 🙂 you can always make a fresh start tomorrow

Flowerkm · 09/10/2020 19:38

@PumpkinEverything Aw I know the feeling. I hope you're feeling a little better this evening and eating whatever you want. Im sat here finishing off chocolate digestive biscuits hehe.
Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

PumpkinEverything · 09/10/2020 19:42

@Puffin85 it was about 16 years ago so I can’t remember life before the pill at all Grin I feel like it’s still so early to test so I think it’s going to be next week where I really struggle holding off if AF hasn’t arrived. Definitely embracing the carbs tonight, I need to make myself feel better

Fantastic choice @Flowerkm I absolutely love chocolate digestives.

Puffin85 · 09/10/2020 19:54

Woop embrace those carbs 🥨🍪 Hope you feel better tomorrow 🙂

wishfulthinking93 · 09/10/2020 23:37

Omg guys just needed to share this with people who will understand my excitement, AF finalllyyyyy showed up today!! Means I can actually start properly tracking this month to see when I ovulate. Never thought I’d be so happy to come on my period 😂

Moocher90 · 10/10/2020 00:26

I’ve had some random spotting today pinkish /brown in colour. I’ve put on a towel tonight just in case it’s my period starting. I’ve got cramps in my lower abdomen which I’ve had for a few day’s and my boobs are sensitive too. We shall see whether this becomes full blown AF

MintGreenLife · 10/10/2020 10:00

I'm finding it tricky to keep up with this thread at the mo 😂 I'm 6DPO now, so not too much going on here.

I'm feeling a little low though as we had our survey done on the house we are buying yesterday and it wasn't good. It's a very old house, so we expected there to be some issues, but not as many as there was - there's about five really big issues that could potentially be even bigger than it's possible to understand at the moment, and then a lot of other smaller things to put right. We've sort of come up with a plan as to what we do to move forward, but I'm not feeling hopeful. So probably going to wallow about that this weekend. To make matters worse I've gone gluten, dairy, alcohol and sugar free to try and improve my tummy/thyroid, so can't even have a drink or a bit of chocolate 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Sarahp2308 · 10/10/2020 10:24

Sorry to hear about the survery @MintGreenLife assuming that they are potentially expensive issues aswell? This is the problem with these old houses, our survey was OK we had a leaning outdoor wall which we were knocking down to make the driveway bigger anyway, and the rendering had come away over the years and the bricks were in pretty bad condition but apart from that it was OK, but this house constantly needs maintenance and once we fix one thing something else happens, kinda wish we had gone for something more modern to be honest.

Does anybody have any experience of super short AF like 24 hours long, no idea what is going on over here?

Flowerkm · 10/10/2020 11:22

@wishfulthinking93 Yay! Thats brilliant. Its exciting isn't it? No one understands unless they're going through it 😂 even now when I get AF, yes Im not pregnant but it means I can start a new cycle!

@Moocher90 Sounds like AF is coming, hopefully its a good flow and you can start a new cycle.

@MintGreenLife Oh no, sorry to hear this. That sounds stressful and sounds like some big projects.
Is there any substitutes you can have instead of the foods you're restricting?

@Sarahp2308 Can't say I have. What CD are you? Xx

Moocher90 · 10/10/2020 11:30

@Flowerkm

My spotting has gone from light pink to dark brown back to a lighter brown, no flow yet and just when I wipe. Who knows what’s going on right now! Started just before bed time which was late last night as it was about midnight, nothing overnight and just when I wipe I get anything. Keeping a towel on just in case it reads it’s head.

Moocher90 · 10/10/2020 11:30

*rears not reads 😂
