Last week I got a positive ic. (pictured) then for a few days after it I got negatives. All yesterday I had a horrible headache and my muscles were all sore around the tops of my legs, bum and lower back. Which is still here today btw. Like I've been at the gym but I haven't. So I done a test this morning just to see.... And it's a faint positive again. Came up straight away (pictured) what the hell is going on? I don't know whether to think I'm pregnant or not

Test again without opening the pregnancy test as once you open the casing, it invalidates the result. Get a FRER.

Mumms21 · 27/09/2020 09:37

That was just to get a good picture. I done a clear blue which was very faint, so I dismissed it. I done a frrr because boots sent the wrong one and that was negative. So I just assumed I wasn't pregnant. But I had ordered ics when I got the positive and they came yesterday so I done one this morning. I'm honestly so confused...

When was the last time you done a FRER? How many DPO are you?

Mumms21 · 27/09/2020 13:45

No idea how many dpo I am as I've got pcos. The frrr was like 2 days after that dark bfp, everything was negative so Ive been expecting a bleed but nothing.

I don't know if pcos could be the cause? Maybe the irregular hormones can make hcg fluctuate? Or make it harder to detect. I suppose I best go doctors and get bloods done

I have PCOS too. If it's been a couple of days since the FRER, I would test again using one of them with morning urine. It that is still negative then changes are you're not pregnant as they are super sensitive.

Lou98 · 27/09/2020 15:55

From what I've seen on here the IC are hit or miss on whether they're reliable or not. You should order a FRER and take it with FMU in 2 days time, hopefully you'll have a clearer answer then! 🤞

Mumms21 · 27/09/2020 21:22

Just tested again. Definite positive?

Hi @Mumms21 I seem to be in the same boat as you!!! I went to get a check up done and as part of my health care routine they did a pregnancy test, about an hour after leaving I got a call to say there was a faint positive and that I needed too book back in, I have an appointment for this Thursday.

I took a clear blue one 3 days ago, (attached to the link below) it has also come up as a light positive, but I’m not sure if it’s an evap line or a Light positive but it came up within the time frame and I’m so confused as I did a cheap one today and it is negative I’m starting to wonder wether it’s because I’m really early or because it’s a cheap test, I’m 5 days away from AF.

@Mumms21 your recent test looks like a definite positive!! Sending you loads of baby dust!!! Keep us posted. Xx

Mumms21 · 28/09/2020 14:30

Well I phoned my doctors. The nurse said to go by the first test and consider myself pregnant until anything else is confirmed. I've to phone the midwife, and I'm going to demand a scan. Since it has nearly been 7 weeks since my last period. Something just doesn't feel right though. The mix of negatives and positives.....im not feeling hopeful 😔

@Mumms21
Stay hopeful, I’m exactly the same a mix of negatives and positives and then getting told by the health care team I am but really early so Home pregnancy tests might not pick it up but clear blue did and no it’s just all confusing, sending you the best of luck, I’ll keep everything crossed for you xx

sarahc336 · 28/09/2020 15:24

I doubt they'd offer you a scan though on the nhs unless you have pain, previous risk of ectopic or bleeding. If you have a line on a test and no Mc or ectopic symptoms they would ju st book you in for a routine scan at 12 weeks as everyone else gets x

Mumms21 · 28/09/2020 16:08

I have pcos and have previously has a miscarriage, and if they don't do a scan I'll just book one myself.

Well it looks like I'm one of those women who get better bfps at night..... Surely this means I'm m pregnant right?

Yes that's a positive Grin

Floopyandtired · 28/09/2020 22:43

Please be cautious of these tests: I had many false positives on this in August and I wasn’t pregnant. This was one of them. I really hope isn’t the case for you xxx

1940s · 28/09/2020 22:46

I've had similar false positives on cheap tests and opening them up can produce blazing lines that are still negatives as they're not meant to be exposed to air.
Test with a FRER for a result you can trust

Mumms21 · 28/09/2020 23:10

I've done alot of these tests. And I've opened every one of them lol the negative ones stayed negative and the positive ones were positive 😂 I'm getting dark bfps at night and faint bfps in the morning. I doubt that's a coincidence. I'm taking it as positive. But thank you all for replying x

OP posts:
Sophielou8 · 28/09/2020 23:22

These tests are known for false positives but hoping in your case it’s not the case :) xx

Stabbitha · 28/09/2020 23:33

I always got darker lines on an evening.

mrsmummy1111 · 29/09/2020 07:23

Stop opening the tests! If they're positive they'll still be positive without opening them.
I agree it looks positive but I've seen SO many women on here post pictures like this and these tests are in a casing for a reason, they're not supposed to be exposed.
Hopefully EPU will scan you early, but as you're only likely to be a few weeks pregnant at most, there's very little they'll be able to see at this stage. The best way to know is for them to test your hcg levels 48 hours apart and see how they're progressing. Best of luck

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 29/09/2020 07:35

Not meant to be exposed to air 😂

Sorry but that just isn't true.
Neither is the 'if you're open them it invalidates them"

Mumms21 · 29/09/2020 08:22

@CovidStoleTheRainbow I was just thinking exactly the same thing.... Considering cheap test strips have no plastic casing... And are fully "exposed" by that logic every test strip would always show positive..... Which simply isn't true.
