Last week I got a positive ic. (pictured) then for a few days after it I got negatives. All yesterday I had a horrible headache and my muscles were all sore around the tops of my legs, bum and lower back. Which is still here today btw. Like I've been at the gym but I haven't. So I done a test this morning just to see.... And it's a faint positive again. Came up straight away (pictured) what the hell is going on? I don't know whether to think I'm pregnant or not

There are so so many threads in here (including one of my own) of false positives on tests that have been opened. I hope you get the answer you want in terms of being pregnant but don't knock the 'hell' you've asked for when many of us have seen similar results by opening the tests. If you're truly pregnant you wouldn't need to keep opening these tests as it would be obvious

Mumms21 · 29/09/2020 09:26

If this myth about opening tests was true....test strips wouild not exist. Does anyone actually know where this rumour came from. Like Chinese whispers.... One person says it and then other people believe it and pass it on. Its utter crap... Unless my bathrtoom is pregnant and hcg is floating around in the air. No doctor.... Or nurse... Or pregnancy test instructions ever mentions opening tests.... Ever. Maybe if you have a negative test and open it... A ghost like will appear clearer but opening a test does now cause a pink line. I'm sorry... It just doesn't. My big fat pink lines are there... Opening the tests up to take a picture has changed them in no way shape or form. You know wheen i said I was going to a forum for advice... A family member warned me against it. Saying its a toxic environment full of women who think they're expects and trained health professionals, I didn't believe her. But I think she's right.

@Mumms21 I feel like you knew what you wanted to hear, and any suggestions or advice that goes against that is falling on deaf ears. Everyone here wants this to be your BFP, but we also have to be honest when we say there’s a chance it’s not. I wish you nothing but the best x

unicornpower · 29/09/2020 10:16

I don't want to be negative but I had tests that gradually got lighter after a blazing positive and turned negative but it was still a week until i started bleeding. How many days are there between tests? I also got better positives in the evening! I would leave it a few days and test again and see if the line gets stronger. I don't think people have been toxic, i think they are managing your expectations as many ladies on here have experience with faint lines x

Juno231 · 29/09/2020 10:28

I'm sorry OP but if you got your first positive over a week ago then the lack of HCG progression looks to me like you had a CP that's just taking a while to leave your body. At this point I'd expect a near enough dye stealer I think, not very faint positives.

mrsmummy1111 · 29/09/2020 10:59

@CovidStoleTheRainbow

Not meant to be exposed to air 😂

Sorry but that just isn't true.
Neither is the 'if you're open them it invalidates them"

@CovidStoleTheRainbow The sarcasm in your post is entirely unnecessary, especially considering the fact your comments are completely unfounded. If those tests are exposed to humid environments (eg a bathroom) then it can cause the test strip to become wet and therefore INVALIDATE IT. Not all tests are the same. The ones that are encased in plastic are made that way for a purpose, the manufacturing companies don't add the plastic for the sheer fun of it. If you insist on taking the piss, at least ensure your comments are factual.
Cherrybalm · 29/09/2020 11:39

sorry OP but I also would be expecting a much stronger positive then that by this point if you first tested that long ago. I really get the hope and confusion with TTC, I went through it all myself, but presumably you posted on here for honest answers.

a scan or bloods is your answer because you havent accepted what anyone has said on here.

Wow, that is uncalled for and mean.

To be honest you've had some good advice on here so deeming it as "toxic" is unnecessary surely?

Think the point (some) people are making with opening it is that if it's positive enough then it should be clearly seen without opening it up.

If you already know you have your "big fat pink lines" why post here for advice? Then disregard the people trying to help you, sounds like your mind was made up and aren't willing to listen to others, everyone on here has kept their fingers crossed it's a positive that sticks and you've just been defensive

yahyahs22 · 29/09/2020 12:11

I got a negative and I'm currently laying with my almost 5 month old while he naps (finally!). So hard to get a false positive but easy to get a false negative

1940s · 29/09/2020 14:44

Toxic 😂

1940s · 29/09/2020 14:45

Big fat pink lines.... doesn't look like you have all the signs for a successful pregnancy OP. You've asked for advice and your very touchy response shows that you are worried. Looks like a chemical at best

Bl0ndi3 · 29/09/2020 15:15

I think you need to use a different brand of test to be sure @Mumms21

They're very clearly positive (so not sure why you'd question it tbh but no matter). However like others have said your levels should double every 48-72 hours so your lines should be getting stronger than they are in the pics you've posted. However it took 2 weeks for me to get a nice dark line on an IC test recently so I think using a more reputable brand of test will give you better answers than the same cheap ones that just aren't as reliable.

Good luck

sarahc336 · 29/09/2020 16:10

Personally I find mums net a very supportive forum and I find it quite rude that your saying people on here and toxic.
Forums are places for people to get advice but also people will share their experiences and if a poster found that she was getting false positive through opening her tests then that is her experience. I too have heard of many women opening tests and the evap line can look even brighter when in fact it has only been an evap line in tk e first place and being opened up can mean it simply dried quicker and thetefore looks stronger.
I hope your line is a true bfp bit people are only giving their advice and I genuinely wish you all the luck.
However You'll find many of us "toxic experts" have been through the joys of ttc for many cycles, some longer than others, many of us have had multiple false bfp tests, many of us have had chemicals pregnancies and many of us have had a Mc or missed miscarriage so in a way I think we kindnof are experts so if you don't like the advice you get please don't be as rude to in validate people's own experiences x

Stabbitha · 29/09/2020 16:23

I thought 'cheapies' were cheap because they weren't covered in a casing.

The casing really is just to make then more user friendly, bigger, wipable etc.

Bbdm1984 · 29/09/2020 16:41

Why dont you just use the cb test that clearly states pregnant or not pregnant then you have a clear answer, if you have in fact have had a big fat positive a week ago i would expect you to get a definitive answer on a cb

Lozz22 · 29/09/2020 16:58

You clearly don't believe that exposing a test to air can change it, so here you go here's proof. This test was taken on xmas day last year I took it apart because the lighting in my bedroom was reflecting off the plastic covering. It looked negative so I put the plastic casing back on, chucked it in the bin and though nothing to it. By the time I'd looked again hours later ( just out of curiosity) it now had a second line on it with colour. Imagine after 4 miscarriages being so desperate for a Baby you actually get excited but the test at the drs urine and blood come back negative. There's a reason why they say don't open it up and expose them to air. I learned the hard way on that

Any update OP?

asabee · 04/10/2020 16:41

Even if there was an update she wouldn't post it cos of her attitude!
It's sad people think the way they do. We all have some experience others could learn from
