@candycrush2298

I found this from an old post for you.

Hi there,

This is my specialty! Here is a good explanation of everything on your sperm test www.verywellfamily.com/sperm-motility-1960141

I had a very low motility rate, I believe the average is roughly 20 million and I was way below that (don't want to go into too many details but trust me it was VERY low). I increased it to 48 million in 3 months (very high). If I had carried on in the same manner then it would have continued to increase. I went to see a top urologist and all the things listed below he either told me to do, or I said to him that I had done and he agreed with all of them. Including/especially the wireless/internet/mobile phone stuff.

By the look of it your fella is doing ok on 22%. Either way, if you want to increase your fella's overall fertility then he will need to change some aspects of his diet and general behaviour during the day.

Quick note, the higher the motility rate then the less chance there is of miscarriage so he really should be doing stuff for this alone, let alone increasing the chances of you getting pregnant. All of the things I list below will have a huge cumulative effect. Good luck!

Here are the things I did:
1i) I sat next to a wireless router at work. Literally about 1 metre away from me for 8 hours a day. Don't do this!! I was lucky and could get a wired connection to my PC at work but the message is: cut down your exposure to wireless internet. At work, see if you can be wired directly. At home, SWITCH IT OFF. Get a long cable and use that to plug into whatever devices (TV etc) that need the internet. Or at the very least turn it off when going to bed. If it's near you at night/during the day then you need to do something drastic. Like not use it.

ii) Turn off your phone/put it in airplane mode while asleep. If you must leave it on then leave it outside your bedroom. If sitting down in one place, have it as far away from you as possible on a desk etc. When walking down the street, have it in airplane mode or if you are expecting a call have it in your hand. Otherwise if it's in a bag/pocket-airplane mode.

iii) Don't work with a laptop on your lap. Ever. Even if wired in directly to the internet.

  1. Give up smoking (I don't smoke so easy for me).

  2. Give up/cut down on caffeine. No direct evidence for this but it's one of those weird things where evidence says there is no direct corollation however it appears those on caffeine have lower fertility rates. So it's a bit of a "cigarettes don't cause lung cancer directly but...."

  3. Yep keep your nuts cool. If long distance running/cycling then stop. My urologist actually made a note to recommend no cycling at all. The basic thing is that you don't want to be doing exercise that keeps your body temperature (and nut temperature) elevated for long periods of time. I continued going to the gym and would obviously get hot as I work out quite hard but it would be short bursts (lifting weights, running for 5-10 minutes) with a rest between sets so I was cooling down.

  4. Ejaculate every 2-5 days. This keeps the sperm 'fresh' and replenishes older sperm with new and more sprightly little fellas. Increases motility.

  5. Modify your diet. The big one. You want to eat foods with anti-oxidants in them. Avoid dairy/milk while eating them as some evidence suggests that the anti-oxidants might attach themselves to dairy and pass through the system without much being absorbed.

We're talking leafy greens and orange food (?!), with the king being broccoli. Also, cauliflower, kale, sprouts, literally anything green. Look up foods high in anti-oxidants. A great way to enjoy them, and far tastier, is to roast them (while dry) with a bit of olive oil. Totally changes how they taste and keeps more of the nutrients in them. Try to have something green with every meal.

Also orange veg/fruit is great too. Eat salads with orange peppers and grated carrot included. Preferably with home made vinagrette (fresh garlic you see) Or roast some carrots! Sweet potato is also good. Oranges/satsumas etc should be a go to snack, as should be dark chocolate and walnuts (high in anti-oxidants).

Any berries. Blueberries/blackberries (check this though) are best, strawberries and raspberries are good as well. Put these in a smoothie in the morning (no milk! Use banana if you want a creamier texture/taste) with some frozen spinach (leafy greens cheat!) and drink away.

I made a basic pea and mint soup and would then chuck in a whole head of broccoli and some carrots as well, blend it all together and would eat this throughout the week. Kind of drastic but I'm a bloke so food is fuel so am quite happy to eat the same thing every day. And it is tasty anyway.

I think I've covered everything. If you manage to cut down some things and add others, even if not all of those things I've listed above, then you should massively increase motility, increase your chances of getting pregnant and reduce the chances of miscarriage.

And again, don't take it from me but from my urologistsmile

Temp gone down past two days in a row

@Elakiya thank you so much for posting this, appreciate it. A lot we actually do like he doesnt have his phone on him when driving for work. Wired connections to the PlayStation etc.

We can add more anti oxidants and see if that increases it all.

Thank you xx

@Boc86 awww I am sorry 😔

@candycrush2298 I’ve been reading that they give men clomid.... wonder if that means soy would work 🤔. I’ll do some research and let you know.

Elakiya · 13/10/2020 08:56

@candycrush2298 ignore me apparently it makes it worse.

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 09:00

@Kaybobx yeah your chart is looking freaken good!!! Hmmmm so you think yesterday was just the indent? I had hope lol.

It was so nice!!! We both thoroughly enjoyed it. We cooked the main together (steak and veg as he is better at cooking steak than I am lol) so was just really nice. I am not usually romantic so sure it was a surprise whahah.

@Elakiya I have seen that they give men clomid in America but haven't seen it as common practice in the UK. I have asked on the Ava group and only Americans have responded so far. Also created a thread on mumsnet asking but to no avail yet. I just want someone who has gone through it on the NHS to tell me what the NHS procedure is as we all know they have a set of norms and they all follow the same process so if someone can tell me what happens then I can at least know if its worth getting my hopes up or not. The Americans that responded said they were referred immediately for IUI and bypassed other steps but yeah most likely not the same for us. I was also reading old threads of Mumsnet where many said they were pushed straight onto ICSI which obviously excites me immensely but they said it depends how bad the motility is. If its not too severe they will try other things first (what the other things are i have yet to decipher)

Kaybobx · 13/10/2020 09:12

@candycrush2298 oh i knew 100% yesterday was an indent. Its there on this mornings too but they are indents as there as soon as opened them and there's no colour at all. Will see what tomorrow's FRER says then I'll give up and save one test for next cycle 😂

Haha im with you on the steak, hubby cooks it so nice. Mine are like beef burgers 😂 glad you had a nice night though.

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 09:17

@Kaybobx awwww man hahah. I am hoping its just because the rapid result is not half as sensitive (and the answer tests are said to be less sensitive than FR in general) so hoping that's all it is hahahah.

Yes hahaha men just do it right hahaha mine also always come out weird and not so great tasting 🤣🤣 thank you it was really lovely. Might have to be romantic more often whahaha

Boc86 · 13/10/2020 09:18

Ooo good chart @Kaybobx

Elakiya · 13/10/2020 09:21

@candycrush2298 I really hope you just get referred to IVF straight away. From your cycles and stuff I genuinely think it might be all clear on your side so I think IVF will 100% work on you. I have a strong feeling about this 💪🏾. But if IVF can be avoided and something natural can be done they’ll try that first I guess. Excited to see how things go it’s not long now 😁

@Kaybobx how are you graph looking really good when is AF due. Mine was meant to be tomorrow but I’ve just started getting my AF pains so I think it might be another couple of days for me.

@NamechangeTTC you feeling any better hun x

@Boc86 really glad you got given progesterone. How does it work do you take it all the way to a positive test and then stop?

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 09:34

@Elakiya awww thanks hun!!! We will see. Either way I am just chilling and riding the wave until we get to the fertility clinic. Its clear we need intervention so no point putting so much effort in and being dissapointed when AF comes. At least this way I know there is really an issue and we need to get it sorted. I am not left with that feeling of maybe we just one of those unlucky couples that it takes longer for. Which has made me feel a whole lot better. It confirmed the suspicions that there's an issue.
Appreciate all your research and input as always 💜💜💜

How are you doing? I know you didn't ttc this cycle but you all OK? Did you buy more opks for your new cycle?

OP posts:
Kaybobx · 13/10/2020 09:39

@candycrush2298 my hubby would think i was having an affair or something if i was romantic hahaha! Not something ive ever been good at.

@Boc86 @Elakiya thanks ladies, its the most steady its ever looked. Af is due Saturday.

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 09:48

@Kaybobx whahahaha maybe thats why my hubby asked me "what do you want?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 its also not a strong suite of mine either whahaha. I can do gifts and that but just romantic gestures is not my forte.

Your chart really is looking fantastic - mine doesn't even looked like I ovulated i haven't input my temps into ff for a few days so just updated it and no coverline whoops hahahaha maybe the soy didn't work early. Maybe I am having an anovulatory cycle who knows 🤣🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Kaybobx · 13/10/2020 10:02

@candycrush2298 haha thats exactly what my hubby says too! The only night we spend together and him not on his playstation is Tuesdays! We watch the bake off together and eat cake 😂😂 i like my own space though tbf.

You know, i think this is the first cycle ive ovulated myself. I'll attach my last 2 charts together and this cycle, look at the difference!

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 10:11

@Kaybobx hahahaah we are the same i like my space if we were in each others faces all the time think I might go mad hahaha. I enjoy reading and watching series and he likes playing PlayStation. We usually spend Saturdays together lol and we eat dinner together every night and chat about our day and what not and then do our own thing lol.

Hmmmm looking at your charts there is definitely a temp shift you can clearly see it rising particularly last cycle, the cycle before that might be a bit suspect but that cycle you definitely had loads of dips and rises which could be due to your shift work you were doing and not adjusting.
However this cycle is clear cut no questioning it.

OP posts:
candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 10:13

@Kaybobx This is my current cycle in which I dont know what it means. I have all the usual post O symptoms like sore boobs, back ache, pain in my side, creamy cm all the normal jazz but I guess you would get that in an anovulatory cycle as well who knows

@Elakiya when you weren't ovulating before metformin did you get ovulation pains?

CSG (Thread 4)
OP posts:
Kaybobx · 13/10/2020 10:30

@candycrush2298 wow thats the most steady temps I've ever seen! Your dip doesn't match with your ewcm and postive opk, how strange. I think soy has done weird things to all of our cycles at some point. My cycle last month had a slightly raised temp but was listed as ovulation. Im thinking it will be CD11 and your coverline will come after a couple more temps.

candycrush2298 · 13/10/2020 10:35

@Kaybobx the weird thing is though that my temps always rise on the day of ovulation mine dips the day before ovulation so I am not consistent with anything Google related hahaha. If I look at my previous charts I have a dip the day of Peak and then rise on O day. Even before soy. Weird LOL!! I agree with you CD11 is most likely ovulation if I did ovulate. Would be ideal to hear what the US results say.

You chart this time around seems so perfect like this huge spike in temp everything about it just looks like a stereotypical bbt chart lol!!!

OP posts:
Elakiya · 13/10/2020 11:14

@candycrush2298 I have no idea I used to spot quite frequently mid cycle and therefore thought the cramps were related to that. To be honest I don't think I get ovulation pains now I think I've made myself think I am getting them due to the opk if that makes sense?

I really need to find myself some soy but can only find the ones that @Kaybobx bought and I really don't fancy taking 12-20 tablets a day lol!

NamechangeTTC · 13/10/2020 11:25
