I came off the pill in January after being on it for 13 plus years and I was bricking it. I was planning to start trying in may but put it off due to COVID. Just started trying last month. My cycles are anywhere between 28 and 31 days. Not sure if they are going to settle into more of a pattern or not. This is my first month of tracking my ovulation. I generally know when I ovulate and I get ovulation pain, which is new to me as never got them before having been on the pill forever 🤦

Intrigued2020 · 16/09/2020 16:34

Has anyone experienced ovulation bleeding? I’ve had 5 days of positive ovulation tests but I’ve also had bleeding. It’s only a small bit but I didn’t expect it to last this long. It’s not enough for a pad but it’s there every time I’ve wiped. Has anyone else experience this? I also only dtd on Thursday night and Sunday night so I’m worrying if I should be doing it more but as I’ve seen this blood it doesn’t really put me in the mood 😂 just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this as I don’t know why I’ve had so many positive OPKs? :/

Sarahp2308 · 16/09/2020 16:39

Has anybody ever used the ‘premom’ app to record the reading from ovulation sticks, just uploaded my first just wondering if anyone had used it or uses it?

lawandgin · 16/09/2020 16:48

@Sarahp2308 yes I do, although not at the moment as I've just found out I'm not ovulating 😂 wasted so much time POAS! I think it's quite good, just make the light level is good and the OPK is placed on a white background. Also if you aren't using the Easy@home OPKs then there is a different section for other makes.

Update: first day on the norethisterone and I'm not a total bitch....yet....😂

Flowerkm · 16/09/2020 16:59

@Trying4one Funny you say that, i never remember ovulation pain before the pill but I tend to get it quite bad now, weird?

@Intrigued2020 I can't say i have unfortunately. Not sure what to advise on that but get the whole not wanting to DTD if you can see blood when you wipe :(

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 17:09

@Flowerkm I ended up googling it the first month it happened 🤣 I am not sure but anyone else but my sex drive has gone up around ovulation and I can tell you now that never occured whilst on the pill 🤣

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 17:11

@Sarahp2308 I started using the premum app today as well and I am using the easy@home ovulation tests

Flowerkm · 16/09/2020 17:17

@Trying4one Im exactly the same, my sex drive has increased massively since being off the pill, I can't believe how 'flat' i felt whilst on it. Now Im off, I can't believe i felt how i did! I said to my OH all those years of me saying no, was just the pill speaking as now its not a question 😂🙈

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 17:27

@Flowerkm my husband finds it hilarious as I have never had much of a sex drive and now it is like a itch that I cannot scratch over ovulation 🤣🤣🤣 I never realised it was the pill until I came off of it.

Sarahp2308 · 16/09/2020 17:38

@Trying4one I’m not sure which ones I’m using, just the cheapies from savers, I should probably check the packet 😂 I’m probably uploading it to the wrong section 🤣
@Flowerkm I was exactly the same...no sex drive when I was on the pill, none at all it felt like a chore at the time, it’s scary what it does to you

Flowerkm · 16/09/2020 17:45

@Trying4one @Sarahp2308 100%! Same here, it is scary what it does to your hormones and how much it affects the relationship, sex generally felt like a chore at times too.

MrsBtobe2020 · 16/09/2020 18:53

@Trying4one @sarahp2308 @flowerkm haha I know how you all feel! Never really thought about lack of sex drive, it did seem to diminish worse the longer I was on the pill but as soon as I stopped, that was the first thing I noticed!

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 19:11

@MrsBtobe2020 @Flowerkm @Sarahp2308 because I went on them as a teenager I never realised the effects it has having on my hormones. I only went on the pill due to my spots, which by the way have come back since coming off the pill 🤦 though not as bad. I was just never bothered by sex and but did it more for the intimacy.

Sarahp2308 · 16/09/2020 19:28

@Flowerkm @MrsBtobe2020 @Trying4one same I have been on some form of pill since i was about 16 (29 now) and i only really remember having the lack of sex drive while I was on Cerazette, only really when talking to friends that I realised it wasn’t normal to have no sex drive i just thought this what a 12 year relationship is like 😂😂

Flowerkm · 16/09/2020 19:51

Glad Im not the only one, it's really not spoken about enough. Generally also thought this just must be what a long term relationship is 🤣

Sarahp2308 · 16/09/2020 20:02

To be honest me and one friend no subject is out of bounds, alot of the things we discuss are definitely TMI but its good to have someone to talk to like that!

It isn’t spoken about enough & I wonder how many relationships don’t last because of those kind of side effects, for a man it must feel abit odd of your OH doesn’t have any sex drive, maybe not realising it is down to the pill

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 20:06

@Flowerkm oh definitely. I have been with my husband for 11 years and they say live changes in a long term relationship so sex naturally will too. I think we as females put a lot of pressure on ourselves as we compare ourselves and make assumptions about other people's relationships. It should be talked about more. But clearly the pill dampens us down. I think men should take a pill 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Amy929292 · 16/09/2020 21:10

Hi everyone, I have never been happier to get my period! I came off the pill on July 24th, had a 5 day withdrawal bleed from July 26th and nothing since except 3 days of light spotting about 2 weeks later. I know it can take a while for cycles to resume but my period has arrived today so I'm really pleased my body is actually doing something! We'd planned to start TTC after our wedding (in 17 days!) but we've agreed to start from this cycle as we're not quite sure when I'll ovulate. So goodbye condoms and hello a month of BD!

I'm definitely in the same boat as a few of you with as sex drive massively ramped up since stopping the pill. I never realised how it had affected me!

Trying4one · 16/09/2020 21:41

@Amy929292 yay for period 👐 when I came off the pill I was super worried about how long it would take for my periods to come and that's why I came off in advance like you. You may or may not feel ovulation pain and I feel that is a good cue.
Good luck and we are all here to support

MintGreenLife · 16/09/2020 23:10

I'm just catching up on all the sex drive chat 😂 Mine basically went off a cliff in the last few years on the pill. I think I was on it about 13 years, and it wasn't really an issue until about the last three years. It's sooo much better since I came off! It caused a lot of upset between myself and my partner, I even went to the doctors about it and was told that the pill shouldn't be causing the issue, so I just carried on thinking that was probably just me now - that as I was a bit older I didn't have much of a sex drive any more. This was the same Doctor that told me there was no need to come off the pill to prepare for TTC and that I would start ovulating right away 🤦🏻‍♀️ Actually annoys me now I'm typing this out as had I realised the pill was causing the issues with my sex drive it would have avoided a fair bit of upset, and my cycles would most likely have sorted themselves out way in advance of TTC. I personally would never go back on it again. I don't know about all of you but I feel so much better just knowing my body is producing it's own hormones now, although probably not the right amounts 😂 Feels almost wrong now that I think about the synthetic hormoes in the pill and all those years suppressing ovulation 😕

MintGreenLife · 16/09/2020 23:13

Oh also CD7 for me now and the bleeding had finally stopped! So guess we are back on DTD every other day. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I actually ovulate/ovulate on a sensible CD! 6 months off the pill had got to be long enough for my body to sort itself out surely!

MrsBtobe2020 · 17/09/2020 07:18

@MintGreenLife I'm also hoping for the same as you next cycle, trying to dtd every other day for a few weeks is tiring! 🤞🤞
I said the same to my oh the other day, if I ever do get pregnant I'm definitely not going back on it soon after (we would like 2 really), even if it risks having another soon after I can't take this uncertainty again!

Trying4one · 17/09/2020 07:27

@MintGreenLife there was a bit of a upset with me and my husband a few years ago as I hadn't really realised how little we were having sex. It was literally once every couple of months. Though he actually realised that if he put more effort in then perhaps I would want it. We worked through it and to think of I had just come off the pill it would have saved a lot of issues.
@MrsBtobe2020 I think we will end up using condoms until we know we don't want more kids and then I may look at the coil.

Flowerkm · 17/09/2020 08:08

@MintGreenLife Nice to have more of us who were in the same boat lol agree with everything you've said.
sending lots of positivity to you for a good cycle, this could be the one, it has to settle at one point 🤞🏻

Sarahp2308 · 17/09/2020 08:38

@MrsBtobe2020 @MintGreenLife it also caused a fair bit of upset here aswell not so much me as i was thinking i cant be arsed with this at the moment! But OH must of thought I wasnt interessted in him 🤣 I am also thinking I don’t want to go back on it, once we have decided on how many babies we want I may also look at the coil. I’m thinking I only want 1, OH is 1 of 4 so he wants atleast 2.
