Hi all, can I join? I have a 13 month old and we're planning to ttc no.2 in January - I want to avoid having two under two and also avoid an August birthday. With 3 months to go DH and I have both started taking vitamins, and I've got about a stone of pregnancy / lockdown / cake weight to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight so am on a diet and fitness kick.

Curiosity101 · 22/10/2020 16:05

@Leah2501 Sorry of course you did say before. You've been struggling to get your coil removed due to cancelled appointments? Fingers crossed all goes to plan next week!

Curiosity101 · 22/10/2020 16:08

@littledinokitty Welcome! You're in almost the exact same position as me.

I have 14 month old DS who was due in October 2019 but arrived in August.

I don't want 2 under twos and am hoping to have an October (or later) baby. So starting to TTC from January.

I'm also in the process of losing the weight from my first pregnancy. Although if I'm honest I put most of the weight on after I had DS 😕😅. How's your diet going?

Leah2501 · 22/10/2020 16:50

@littledinokitty @Curiosity101 My baby is 12 months - she was 1 this month, born back in 2019. We’re also aiming for outside the 2 year age gap!

gems05 · 22/10/2020 21:09

🤗 thanks guys - I feel better now for your thoughts @Curiosity101@mackjm20@Lollipop87

Typically my Femometer app has decided to stop working - anybody else getting the "database issue, please contact us" and the bloody thing won't open at all?! 😤

mackjm20 · 23/10/2020 08:11

@Leah2501 good news on the coil! Good luck for dec :)

@littledinokitty welcome :) good luck with your journey :)

@gems05 glad you are feeling better :)

Oh girls I have had the worst morning. So I am fully accepting that I am out this cycle I have had zero symptoms and just ready for af to arrive. So thought you know what I am 11dpo let’s just do a clear blue digital get it over with so I can have a drink this eve. So I pee on it first thing exactly as instructed it’s only faulty and gives me a blank result! Omgosh literally give me strength lol! All I want is a glass of guilt free wine lol! Thoughts on just having the wine anyway? X

Curiosity101 · 23/10/2020 08:32

@mackjm20 Blank?!?!? WTAF. I can imagine how you must have felt 🙄. Are you planning to try again? I really wouldn't count yourself out due to lack of symptoms. Honestly most people don't get symptoms before they miss their period. For most people if they're actively TTC then they symptom spot in the TWW and in one of those TWWs they get a BFP so say they list their symptoms.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞

Curiosity101 · 23/10/2020 08:33

ps. In my opinion you can have guilt free wine anyway at 11DPO. The embryo gets all of its nutrients from the egg yolk thingy at first anyway. Until the placenta starts to form there is no direct connection between your blood stream and the baby.

mackjm20 · 23/10/2020 08:57

@Curiosity101 I know literally it did the bloody count down symbol then just went blank I googled and said it’s faulty! I am going to wait until tomorrow now as I know they say morning is best. Just SO annoying lol! ah I know I’m not 100 percent out but honestly if I got a bfp I would be stunned which is okay it’s only my first cycle so wasn’t expecting one :)

Ah yesss that’s what I needed to hear re the wine lol! It’s been a long week haha! X

littledinokitty · 23/10/2020 10:16

@Curiosity101 the diet is going pretty well so far thanks, have lost 6lbs over the past 3 weeks and I have 17lbs to go. How is yours going?

@mackjm20 omg I can't believe it was blank! As mentioned above the umbilical cord doesn't develop for another few weeks into pregnancy anyway so I would drink the wine.

mackjm20 · 23/10/2020 11:41

@littledinokitty I know so annoying! Ah thank you!

That’s it I’m having the wine this eve I’m sure AF is coming that witch so just going with it lol x

Curiosity101 · 23/10/2020 11:51

@mackjm20 haha, I hear you. I may have had a cheeky JD and Coke last night... ☺️

@littledinokitty Very similar story for me! 10lb lost so far, 5lb till pre pregnancy weight and 16lb ideally before getting pregnant. I intend to cool off on dieting in mid December and just have a 300-500 calorie deficit each day as I don't want to risk any fertility knock on effect into the New Year. I am however taking a generic daily multivitamin whilst dieting so hopefully it's not going to be too much of a problem. Although this month ovulation was about 9 days late... So I do believe that it's definitely had some sort of impact.

Lollipop87 · 23/10/2020 15:33

@mackjm20 that is so annoying!! Drink the wine! I’ve been reading Expecting Better that someone recommended a while ago and she explains that alcohol that early is an all or nothing thing, either you binge drink loads and it kills too many of the cells of the fertilised egg / blastocyst so it can’t implant properly or become an embryo, or drinking that much can also stop you conceiving in the first place. But one or two glasses won’t make a difference so crack on! With that logic, technically I could have one or two at this stage but it feels a bit wrong once you know you’re definitely pregnant! If only I could teleport some tests to you, I still have a FRER and a CB digital as they came in packs of 2!

@Curiosity101 I didn’t manage to get down to my ideal weight before falling pregnant, I had about another 8lb to go but my appetite at the moment is pretty low so I might end up losing a few lbs accidentally!

Hope you all have a lovely Friday evening and weekend 😊

Curiosity101 · 23/10/2020 15:39

@Lollipop87 I lost a few lb in my first trimester. Similar to you I had very little appetite, mine was due to the nausea/morning sickness. Hopefully you fare better than I did. I always used to joke that DS was grown on toast, pain au chocolate, croissants and multi vitamins in the first few months 🤣

Curiosity101 · 23/10/2020 17:27

Evening ☺️👋 how is everyone?

I got my thyroid test results back today. They point at me having Hasimotos disease which has caused subclinical hypothyroidism. And... here's the kicker, Hypothyroidism is linked to placental abruptions which is why I decided to get it tested after reading it in a research paper. I'll need to get the test repeated by my GP so that they can make their own conclusion but I'm feeling an odd mixture of relieved and disappointed. Relieved because maybe I've caught the reason for the abruption, disappointed because I would rather I was just 100% healthy.

NaomiW662 · 23/10/2020 19:21

Hi all. Hope it's okay I join you. I have a few questions and just wanted to know if anyone else has had similar situations or knows someone who has

So I have 4 year old twins girls and almost 2 year old boy. I'm so ready for baby 4 now but my husband and I are just slightly worried as I had PND after my little boy.

I am currently still on my anti depressants, my dad died this year and a few other things so I haven't felt ready to come off them.
I guess I just wanted to see those who chose to stay on them and those who came off them?
And if after another baby did PND happen again?

I love my children so much and I know how much I want another one my mental health just worries me thanks for taking the time to read this

Lollipop87 · 24/10/2020 09:34

Morning! Happy Saturday!!

@Curiosity101 oh gosh, you must be feeling really torn. If it is that disease can they treat it? Sending hugs!

@NaomiW662 hi and sorry to hear about your struggles with PND. This is my first baby so I don’t have any experience of it I’m afraid, some of the other ladies might or there will likely be a dedicated thread discussing it. I hope you get some answers and have a happy and healthy pregnancy for no. 4 if you decide to go ahead xx

Curiosity101 · 24/10/2020 09:52

@Lollipop87 They can treat it yes 🙂. It was a bit of a shock yesterday but I'm coming to terms with it today. The treatment for it is hormone replacement therapy, I'll be on it for the rest of my life if the GP confirms the results with a repeat blood test. I'll be on low dose to begin with but overtime my thyroid will continue to be attacked and I'll need a larger dose of hormones to make up the difference.

Still, at least I know now. 😄 I'm still classing myself as very fortunate. No one mentioned testing my thyroid after my pregnancy, so it's pure luck that I decided to research placental abruptions and then do a thyroid test. And also lucky that I'm in a position to pay for a private test. It does mean that we may have to delay TTC until I've got more normal blood test results back.

NaomiW662 · 24/10/2020 10:52

@Lollipop87 thank you for your kind words. Sending all magic baby dust to you for your first an exciting time for you xx

mackjm20 · 24/10/2020 15:32

@Curiosity101 sorry to hear about your results... you must have a lot of mixed emotions. Hopefully they can get you on the right treatment so that you have a better journey this time round.

@NaomiW662 welcome :) sorry to hear about your struggles with PND. Wishing you all the best with your journey :) x

12dpo got my BFN this morning I was so sure anyway that I’m okay with it :) I can tell AF is on her way so cycle 1 all done and dusted I think. Only tad disappointment (ridiculous I know) is that in my hypothetical forward planning mind if it had happened this month would have been the last chance to tell close family at 12 weeks for Christmas. But you know what in the bigger picture of things it’s okay and however long it’s takes when it’s meant to be it will be :) Told DH every other day next cycle and I’m going to use my trustee opks and thermometer for the first time too :) x

Lollipop87 · 24/10/2020 15:40

@Curiosity101 I’m glad it can be treated and you sound more positive about it today so sleeping on it must have helped 😊 Wishing you all the best!

@NaomiW662 thanks so much lovely!

@mackjm20 sorry to hear about your BFN but glad you’d already got your head round it and are thinking forward to your next cycle already. At least there’s only a couple of weeks to go, it’s like a rollercoaster all this planning and waiting isn’t it! Sending you baby dust for cycle no. 2 xx

Curiosity101 · 24/10/2020 15:41

@mackjm20 Definitely mixed emotions. It'll take me a few days to get used to the idea properly. But onwards and upwards, I just want to get the diagnosis officially so I can start treatment. I'm not going to start TTC until I have a safe TSH level so the sooner I can get on medication the better. They wait 6-8 weeks until doing a repeat blood test to check TSH levels once you've been put on the tablets so that basically makes our January plan unlikely. But we'll see how quickly they can get me sorted.

Sorry to hear the news, fingers crossed for your next cycle though. I do know what you mean about thinking ahead. I'd do exactly the same. Does sound like a solid plan for next month. 👍Hopefully you enjoyed your wine yesterday? ☺️

littledinokitty · 24/10/2020 20:47

@Lollipop87 @Curiosity101 I'm a bit envious in a way of your low appetite in the first trimester - I was absolutely starving all the time so I gained loads of weight cos I felt like I had to eat constantly.

@Curiosity101 oh that must have been a shock hearing the diagnosis! At least it's something that can be treated though and it's good that it's been discovered now

Curiosity101 · 24/10/2020 21:16

@littledinokitty I promise it may sound good but it's nothing to be envious of Grin. In my case, it was quite literally the worst nausea I've ever experienced and it was 24/7 from weeks 6-14. At week 14 it didn't go away but started to ease and it finally went away at week 18. I'd much rather have put on weight than felt how I felt for even one day. I remember at the time regularly considering whether I really wanted to continue with the pregnancy...

I'm still back and ready for round 2 though Grin I just intend to try every medication possible this time!

And it was a bit of a shock :(. I have private medical care through work though so I've booked a video GP appointment for tomorrow evening and am hoping to ask for a referral to an endocrinologist or similar. Hopefully, if I go through private channels I can get diagnosed within a week or two and start treatment. But we'll just have to see.

How're you doing today?

Lollipop87 · 24/10/2020 22:55

Just caught up (mostly!) on what I missed since last month and wanted to say congrats to @HeyDW96 on your pregnancy! @KittyT30 glad your scan went well, did you book a private one? Think we will book one for the end of next month when I’ll be 8 weeks, just waiting until I’ve spoken to the midwife and also have reached 5 weeks so out of the chemical danger zone. @Pebbleinthesand glad your laser eye surgery went well, I was going to treat myself for my 30th but that was 3 years ago and never got round to it! Maybe between baby #1 & #2!

@Curiosity101 that sounds intense! You’re not alone though, I remember listening to a radio programme once about severe nausea / HG and there was a woman who said she had an abortion and decided she didn’t want children enough to feel like that so went on to be child-free. Each to their own, I don’t think anyone can understand or judge until they’ve been through that
