Hi everyone. After another unsuccessful cycle I have decided to try the CB digital ovulation tests as opposed to the ICs. However I’m a little confused as the instructions on this one state to take the test using first morning urine. While all the other brands I have looked at state not to use first morning. I’m really confused. Can anyone offer any advise from their experiences? At the moment I’m really considering using both ICs and CB coz I scared of missing ovulation. This is also my first month trying to track BBT but I work days/nights shifts so not expecting this to be accurate as I’m supposed to be on nights around my ovulation time. We will see. Thanks for any input xxx

I used the CB ovulation tests this month and you use it in the morning morning. I started temping this month too although it didn't correlate with the CB tests so I'm not sure I was doing it right!

ShalomToYouJackie · 24/08/2020 20:16

Should also add that after using CB digital ovulation tests this month, I got a BFP so I'll definitely rely on them again in the future

RMarieClaire · 24/08/2020 20:19

Yes morning for these. And don't test in the evening as it'll throw your results. I got a static on a CB and a very negative on an IC, 5 days later got positive on both in the morning.

kittenpeak · 24/08/2020 20:21

Hi @Sohe I 100% recommend clearblue - I would love to become an ambassador for them!

Yes you just use first morning urine (I tested this once and did a test during the day on the day I knew I ovulated and got a "low" result, so always always use first morning).

By first morning urine they mean the first urine after your longest sleep, so if you are working nights, this would be when you wake up to go to work in the evening.

Good luck. These were a life saver for me because my husband and I can't do it whenever we want, so I knew we were doing it on the right day. Conceived in the 4th cycle.

Jadeb1995 · 24/08/2020 21:09

Sorry to jump on your thread, but I've been using these tests for the first time this month and had the below:

CD6 - Negative
CD7 - Flashing
CD8 - Flashing
CD9 - Flashing
CD10 - Flashing
CD11 - Flashing
CD12 - Flashing
CD13 - Flashing
CD14 - Flashing

Should I continue to use them? I'm temping this month for the first time as well and it doesn't look like I've ovulated yet. I got a positive on a IC last cycle on day 18.

Sohe · 24/08/2020 21:37

@ShalomToYouJackie ah congratulations on you BFP!!! I’m not convinced that my temping is going to work coz of my shift patterns. But I’ll give anything a go once.

@RMarieClaire I wonder why these are morning and the rest are afternoon... just to add a little more confusion to our journeys

@kittenpeak thanks for the advise. Think I’ll probably do both just to make sure. Sorry to ask do you pee directly on it or do the dipping method? Strange question I know!

@Jadeb1995 the more the merrier to share our experiences! I haven’t started using them yet but maybe one of the other girls can help. Good luck though. Maybe keep going until you hit cd18/19 if that when you ovulated last cycle x

Hi @Jadeb1995 I would keep trying. Is it like that every month? I had 8 flashes one month, then 4 the next.

@Sohe I peed directly on to it because I knew there would be a lot of pee as it was my first of the day. For the times you test during the day, I would maybe using the dipping method, you don't want to do a small pee, and to get a "low" result incorrectly. If possible, I would urge to test once a day, as you might get confused with which are low / high / peak days. But I know sometimes daily routines make it tricky. I was lucky as I have the same routine each day.

Best of luck

Hey all, I started using the Clear blue OV kit this month (sorry don't know TTC lingo yet lol) just had a question...does it give you a positive for LH if you've already ovulated like that day or the day before?

TheNewMrsW · 24/08/2020 22:19

Clear Blue say theirs test for both LH & Estrogen which might be why they say to test at at different time?

Can I be dense and ask what “IC” stands for? I assume it means the cheap strip tests but I’m not up on the lingo yet 😂

Sohe · 24/08/2020 22:27

Hi @Livvi2021 you get you LH surge before ovulation. Most information I have read says once your LH surge occurs you are likely to ovulate 12-36 hours before.

@TheNewMrsW yer IC=internet cheapie, the lingo is so confusing! X

OP posts:
Sohe · 24/08/2020 22:30

Sorry @Livvi2021 I meant 12-36 after. Ovulate 12-36 hours after the LH surge x

Jadeb1995 · 24/08/2020 22:31

@kittenpeak it's my first month using it so I don't know any different :/

kittenpeak · 24/08/2020 22:36

Hi @Jadeb1995 I would keep going. Have you been testing each morning at roughly the same time? It might take a couple of months for you to notice what is the norm for you. If you only get flashes and never static for 3-4 months this suggests you don't ovulate so three I'd prob give your GP a call (but please don't take advice from an internet stranger and do your own research! Definitely use them for a few months to see what your normal is!)

Sansa87 · 25/08/2020 06:25

I got a bfp the first month I started using these. Sadly ended in a mmc. Using them again this month and it showed me to ovulate a week later than usual. Whilst I do think it’s my month, at least I know we dtd the right time. Could’ve missed it completely.

I really rate them (I do not however rate the price. 😅 Albeit very worth it)

Livvi2021 · 25/08/2020 09:59

@Sohe thank you. I've been using a tracker app but only really just started checking for my own bodily ovulation symptoms and think I ovulated earlier than what my tracker says (I think I have a longer luteral phase than I previously thought) as such I think I used the kit too late this month. We did have sex the day before, on and after I think I ovulated so that's good. It's just frustrating as we missed the window of a few days prior lol

Sohe · 26/08/2020 05:51

Argh girls I’m so confused. Started using the clear blue yesterday and got the blank circle. Today I have got the static smiley face. I’m only day 9 of my cycle. Last month using IC I got day 15. I’m so confused x

OP posts:
kittenpeak · 26/08/2020 06:45

Hi @Sohe yes that’s annoying. Suggests today is the day! Did you test yesterday first thing in the morning? It not maybe yesterday’s result was inaccurate. How long is your cycle normally? I would DTD today and tomorrow. Could always use IC from Friday onwards to see what’s going on

Sohe · 26/08/2020 11:00

Well 25 days was my last one. 28 days before that. Ovulated day 15 last time. Negative on IC despite static face this morning. No EWCM or wet CM. Temp dip this morning. Going to do an IC when I get in from work. X

OP posts:
Livvi2021 · 26/08/2020 11:15

@sophe, are you using the 2 day predictor kit or the two day one? I guess we can ovulate at different times each month it is annoying though isn't it. That happened to me this month too. If you've got a smiley though that's good, run with it!

Livvi2021 · 26/08/2020 11:15

*4 day onw

BellaBella84 · 26/08/2020 12:42

I'm getting on ok with CB OPKs. I was also confused as SMEP says to test in the afternoon but these say morning. Thankfully morning gets consistent results for me as the combination of dehydration and bursting for a pee at work wasn't doing it for me! I get 5-6 days of flashing smiley before my static. My aim is to DTD every other day from CD 10 which roughly coincides with flashing smiley, then every day for 3 days on static. Life and work mess with the plan somewhat but practice makes perfect and all that! 😉

Jadeb1995 · 26/08/2020 15:37

Got my static smiley today after 9 days of flashing!!

Monday55 · 26/08/2020 15:56

@sohe I used CB digital this cycle. I got a negative on CD10 and a solid smiley on CD11 I didn't gey a flashing smiley (which I did get in the past). I held my urine for 3 hrs and tested again with my spare CB digital stick and I got another solid smiley. I also used a cheap strip test with the 3hr urine and was also darker than I've ever seen before.

Our bodies are mysterious. I usually ovulate around CD15 on a 28day cycle but this time I was earlier than usual.

Sohe · 26/08/2020 20:24

Well I did two IC today after the CB one this morning, and both of them have come back with pretty much no second line so I have no idea why that static face is smiling at me.

@Livvi2021 yes I’m using the advance digital one (four days) think it might be a false result. No EWCM or wet Cm. I’m just so confused x

I find it best to test with fmu as directed and then once you get the flashing smiley and you know you are near ovulation, test twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon with a 4 hour hold. If you have a short surge you can miss it otherwise.
