Is this a positive test..?

Hello!
Just looking for another pair of eyes to help me please!
Took these two Tesco own pregnancy tests earlier this evening, checked after 3/4 mins (shouldn't read the results after 10) and there was the faintest of lines running through the middle making it a positive, so faint though that in certain lights you couldn't see it at all..
it's left me completely stumped as to what the result really is.
I took a clear blue test, and it's come back as negative as negative could be so I'm really unsure.
The tests when I checked again a moment ago are a little darker now, so you can see the lines better.
What do you think..? Wishful thinking maybe??
I always thought clear blue were the best tests but now I'm not sure..

Is this a  positive test..?

I don't think I'll be much help, but I've been using the same cheap Tesco tests. When I looked at it before using it I could see faint lines, but when the results came up my vertical line was quite dark, although my control line wasn't as dark as yours so I don't know what that means Confused

Fingers crossed it's good news for you.

Where are you in your cycle?

ttc97 · 19/08/2020 23:32

@LifeIsBusy

Where are you in your cycle?
I actually had my Nexplanon implant removed early this month, and haven't yet had a period to know whereabouts I am in my cycle.. we began trying right away and have been advised by my nurse that we could very easily become pregnant the first few days after removal. X

Those Tesco ones look positive to me.

LifeIsBusy · 19/08/2020 23:37

I think the tesco one looks bfp but probably be best test in the morning if you're unsure where you are in your cycle? From other threads and personal experience I think frer tests tend to be slightly clearer.

Fingers crossed for you!

ttc97 · 19/08/2020 23:57

Thanks all for your help so far! the Tesco ones do look positive to me, too. However I'm just concerned as I did leave them a little while for them to get this dark.. I could see faint lines within the 10 minute check window but not quite as dark as this.. just really confused as to why a CB test would be showing a BFN. 😓

Hi @ttc97 the first pics definitely look positive to me! When I had my positive tests the cheap ones worked before the clear blue ones did. I used the exact same clear blue test as you and it only showed as positive maybe 3 days after using a cheapie and getting positives? I hope this puts your mind at ease Smile

Emmmie · 20/08/2020 00:02

OP, I really hope you get the answer you want. However, I believe a lot of people have complained about tesco tests having false positives.

Clear blue tests, all blue dye tests and especially digital tests are notorious for being less sensitive than FRER. FRER are the most sensitive tests available - use your FMU and an FRER

The first photo on your OP looks positive though, without zooming or altering my screen brightness

LifeIsBusy · 20/08/2020 18:06

@ttc97... Any update?

ttc97 · 20/08/2020 19:35

Thank you all. Feeling really disappointed, had nothing but negatives today, which is so disheartening.
I don't know what to think 🤔

LifeIsBusy · 20/08/2020 19:40

Did you try the frer at frer at fmu? Hcg levels are really low in early pregnancy. How many days have you had your implant out for?

ttc97 · 20/08/2020 19:43

I've bought a first response early detection but i daren't use it actually.. I've had so many negatives now I'm just not feeling positive about it at all 😣😭

@ttc97... How did you get on? Its been a few days now

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 20:47

@LifeIsBusy still negative sadly, taken a clear blue and also a first response. Really disappointed in the Tesco tests, I can't believe I got x4 of them same result! Crazy 😣😭😔
Feeling really sad, although I didn't think it possible for me to be pregnant this soon, seeing faint positives still makes you a little excited inside! 💕

Has AF arrived yet? I wonder what hormones were in your implant and if they messed with the tests? I'd personally stick to frer as the pink dye tests are clearer. It must be so frustrating not knowing where you are in your cycle!

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 20:57

@LifeIsBusy still no AF! I'm becoming so frustrated at it all, really beginning to regret the implant, although it was great whilst trying to avoid pregnancy, it's royally messed my body up now I'm TTC! 😆
The Nexplanon implant apparently releases etonogestrel, which stops the overies from releasing eggs..

I had really awful cramping on Friday evening, really down low around the pubic bone.. almost like AF type pains but of course, nothing happened! 😭
Boobs are feeling a little bit more sensitive today, but again not sure what is going on.
Feeling really fed up! 😓

LifeIsBusy · 23/08/2020 21:40

I think once the confusion is all over you'll be fine but getting to that point might be quite difficult.... Are you still testing? Did they say how long it could be before your cycle returned?

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 21:47

@LifeIsBusy
Yes I think you're right!
I'm no longer testing, only because I can't stand seeing stark white tears / tests with just one line any longer, it's really heartbreaking especially after having had 4 undoubtably faint positives 😔

Really sad as my nurse told me to expect my AF this week just gone, and nothing's shown up. She told me to test for pregnancy next Sunday If AF doesn't arrive this week just gone. And it hasn't, but as I say I just feel silly wasting all of these tests! 😣

OP posts:
LifeIsBusy · 23/08/2020 21:53

It really must be a challenging time. If they thought AF was due last week, perhaps it might be worth testing again to check and see? I adijt know much about the tesco ones unfortunately but I hear blue dye tests are really bad for evap lines makigg them look positive.

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 21:56

@LifeIsBusy
I'm not really sure how she calculated that AF was due this week just gone.. and especially since I couldn't confirm when my last period was during the implant since they were a little irregular! It's kind of set my expectations and now I'm feeling so deflated!
I will perhaps test again this week and see what happens.. I did take a cheap strip test this evening with pink dye, and it was a very clear negative sadly 😓🤷🏼‍♀️

@ttc97... How are we getting on?

ttc97 · 27/08/2020 11:23

@LifeIsBusy
Still no sign of AF and similarly no positive tests. Got loads of stomach pains, cramping etc.. really confusing!
Feels like AF is coming, run to the loo to check and nothing at all.

😣😭🙈

ttc97 · 27/08/2020 12:43

UPDATE:

I've been advised that these tests are just a result of some really nasty evaporation lines. Not sure how to feel.. I'm definitely disappointed in Tesco and the lack of quality there. I can't believe that they are allowed to sell a product that is so obviously inefficient and inaccurate.
I'm pretty heartbroken but I know there's always next time. 💔

OP posts:
LifeIsBusy · 27/08/2020 13:13

@ttc97 how annoying! I would have thought you would have known either way by now but it sounds like you're still in guess mode 😔... What do the nurses think? When did you last test?
