TTC October-December prep group

AmyRose30 · 17/08/2020 20:56

Hi ladies,

I would love to TTC baby 2 in October/November ..well whenever it happens, but around Autumn/Winter this year would be my hope.

I would love to generally organise a TTC group on telegram or other app for daily encouragement and accountability in the processing of preparing for pregnancy. Supporting each other with things like exercise, healthy eating, mindfulness/meditation, and anything else relating to wellbeing.

Going into lock down really took me out of my usual routine and any good habits that I had developed. I thought it might be nice to build a community of women with similar aims, to encourage and support each other.

If you are interested, please do reply to this message, and I’ll take it from there.

I'm on the fence about TTC number 2, but if we did go for it we'd start about the same time.
How long did you try for number 1? And what's the ages gap?
Spose we should start taking the vitamins now?

AmyRose30 · 17/08/2020 22:04

Hiya, I hope you will consider joining if you’re aiming for Oct-December conception.

We got pregnant month 1 with first baby. She’s now almost 3. 2 years 8 months.
And yes I’ve started taking supplements now but so forgetful Confused.

Blissfulignorance · 18/08/2020 06:36

Hopefully you'll just have to wait 1 month again! That's fab!
I had quite a journey of 17 cycles and a loss before we were successful hence my hesitancy. My LO is 2 now so simar ish gaps.

If you dont mind me asking has covid put you off or made you think a bit more?

AmyRose30 · 18/08/2020 08:26

@Blissfulignorance I’m sorry you had that experience. I have a close friend who was trying for 2 years with her first baby and had numerous miscarriages. I think they had IVF. Second baby - conceived first month. I think each conception and pregnancy is as unique as each child. I hope you’ll have an easier - speedier conception with your next one.

Yes, covid caused my delay. For one I was quite sick end of last year with a bad flu (or possibly covid) - if it wasn’t covid and that’s what a normal flu feels like - God help us. Then in feb-March I got a bad case covid blues and I actually lost a close family member (to covid).

I feel much better now thankfully, and I figured if I felt like that and covid disrupted my plans maybe there are others too, and maybe we can support each other with getting back on track. Besides, It’s always nice to have a community around you, and TTC is such a unique process - most people won’t really understand quite like another women going through it at the same time.

Hi @AmyRose30 would you mind if I join? I’m new to mumsnet but planning to start TTC baby #1 in October.

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 15:41

Can I join too? TTC baby number 1 in the next few months - I've just come off the pill and we have both started the pregnacare conception suplements. We're so excited but know it might not happen straight away as we live apart (sort of long distance) but househunting this month. We know we should probably wait until we're living together but we are unfortunately too impatient Grin

Rb486 · 01/09/2020 15:57

Hi Ladies, okay for me to join? I’m TTC baby no.1. I’ve been off my pill since last october- fell pregnant in January and had a mmc in April. Periods started again in June. It was quite long winded, so I’m waiting for AF now, she’s a week late and negative tests. But when she does arrive I’ll be moving into my third cycle of trying again!

Lemongrass9 · 01/09/2020 16:00

@Toobroody it’s so hard isn’t it when you just can’t wait to get started! We have done the same and started supplements. I am having my implant removed tomorrow - it actually expired back in May but I’ve not been able to get an appointment until now due to COVID. Really hoping my cycle goes back to normal quickly.
Have you told anyone that you are planning to try for a baby or have you just kept it between yourselves?

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 16:08

@Lemongrass9 We are so so broody! We were actually meant to be going on a big holiday next year and then starting to try after but since coronavirus we are really not willing to risk losing up to 5k so we have decided it can wait and we don't want to postpone our family any longer.

I have tried to keep it quiet but my work colleagues all know I am desperately broody so its been hard! They know we will be trying soon although i think they will be fed up of the baby talk soon Grin I want to keep it quiet for our families though so we can surprise them. What about you? Hope your cycles regulate quick! I'm just having my last withdrawal bleed, can't remember the last time I had a proper period!

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 16:10

@Rb486 Hope it arrives soon and you can start again! I feel like I'm going to struggle with being very impatient each month Grin

Lemongrass9 · 01/09/2020 16:23

@Toobroody that’s a shame that COVID has messed up your holiday plans but great that you have decided to TTC earlier!
I am trying to keep it to myself too - although I’m a bit worried people will guess because I seem to be starting conversations with friends and family about babies etc. That’s one of the reasons I’ve come on here so I can talk openly about it!
I’ve been having irregular periods the whole time I’ve been on the implant so don’t know if that will make a difference after it’s out.

@Rb486 I’m really sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully AF comes soon so that you can try again. How have you found the whole process?

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 16:34

@Lemongrass9 I know my colleagues will know I'm pregnant as soon as I get that first hint of morning sickness. I have been pregnant before, quite a few years ago with an ex, we decided to have an abortion due to circumstances. But the morning sickness was awful and I really struggled with feeling exhausted. I do quite a physical job and on my feet 39 hours a week so not too sure how that will go..

@Rb486 forgot to say, as was skim reading, sorry about your mmc. I cant imagine what it feels like. Fingers crossed for everything else

Are you guys tracking temps and cycles or are you going to see how it goes for the first few months? At the moment we are in the mindset that we won't plan, but let nature run its course. It is also very difficult when we only meet up to 10 times every month, and that's on a good month!

Lemongrass9 · 01/09/2020 17:02

@Toobroody hopefully you won’t be as sick this time around I work from home so don’t have to worry too much about people finding out unless I accidentally let it slip! Would you have to speak to your manager pretty early on as you have such a physical job?
I have brought some ovulation sticks and have heard good things about the sperm meets egg plan so think we will give that a go but we are are trying to be semi-relaxed about it. I can imagine not living close is quite difficult - how far apart are you living?

Rb486 · 01/09/2020 17:14

@Toobroody @lemongrass9 thank you 💕 I was in complete shock when I found out I was pregnant the first time as we were using condoms but had a few slip ups. Lol! I came off my pill to regulate my periods before we started trying. My boyfs a year younger than me so was probably planning on starting end of this year beginning of next. But that happened and was devastating, but here we are... after the mmc my period came back in 6 weeks, then had a 33 day cycle. Now I’m on CD31, but using the clear blue duel hormone ovulation tests which I got a peak on on CD10, so period should be here by now. I’m taking the seven seas trying for a baby vit. Didn’t use anything before. Am thinking of doing temps but I work shifts so may be hard to do it same time every day. Are you ladies going to use ovulation kits? I think as long as your quite active and have sex every 2-3 days you won’t miss your window!! Xxx

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 17:23

@Lemongrass9 Yeah, I think I will have to tell my boss earlier than 12 weeks. I plan to carry on as long as possible though, just reduce how much I lift as I get further along. I'm quite active so I'm hoping it won't be too much of a strain.
We live about an hour away from each other at the moment, so it's quite difficult to meet, especially as we work completely different shifts half the time. We plan to move to be close to his family though so we have that support network when baby is born. My family live further away and I am pretty much on my own in the town I am in. I think it would be too hard to be living together with a newborn with no family or friends around!

@Rb486 Oh bless you, how horrible. Fingers crossed though for the next few months. Have you found the conception vitamins turn your pee really really yellow?! Mine has and I didn't know what was happening, thought I'd eaten too many wotsits haha!
We aren't going to use ovulation kits yet.. well I say that, but give me a month and I'll be temping and using ovulation sticks every 5 mins haha!

Lemongrass9 · 01/09/2020 18:36

@Toobroody living that far apart must be difficult, hopefully you find somewhere soon and you can be together. Definitely a good idea to be close to family, will you have to change jobs or will you commute?

@Rb486 I have got ovulation kits mainly as I’m only having my implant removed tomorrow so will want to see when I start ovulating again. I’m not planning to do temps but may change my mind!

Toobroody · 01/09/2020 18:45

@Lemongrass9 Tbh I will probably commute, because if all goes well it would only be for a few months until I go on maternity. Then I plan to go back part time but ask for a transfer to be closer to home. That's the plan anyway haha

What ovulation kits are you using? We have annual leave in a few weeks, would like to know if i have any fertile days Wink

Rb486 · 01/09/2020 18:57

@Toobroody don’t think it’s changed my urine but maybe my stools? Lol! Think it has iron in it.
@Lemongrass9 yeah I think they’re useful but don’t know how reliable they really are? I thought they were but since my period hasn’t turned up, I’m wondering if maybe I ovulated later!

AmyRose30 · 03/09/2020 19:28

Hi @Toobroody, @Rb486, @Lemongrass9 I am so sorry for the late reply, my message was slow to get off the ground so I assumed no one was interested, and did not check back.

What is best for everyone? To keep it here? Whattsapp? Emails? Telegram? I thought it would be nice if there was a way to easily and quickly check in with each other.

OP posts:
Toobroody · 03/09/2020 19:31

@AmyRose30 definitely interested! Would love to be able to chat to people who are on the same journey as me as unfortunately have no friends who are planning children or have children. I can do any, normally use WhatsApp the most but whatever is good for others. Would be lovely to have a group!

Lemongrass9 · 03/09/2020 19:45

@AmyRose30 Hi, thanks for letting us join your group! I’m definitely interested in having a group to chat to on here 😊. How are you doing with your TTC prep?

@Toobroody I’ve got the easy@home ovulation kits that you use with the app Premom. Just got them on amazon. How is your house hunt going?

AmyRose30 · 03/09/2020 19:51

Just catching up with some of your conversations,

@Toobroody, @Lemongrass9, TTC first baby is such an exciting time! I was the same. I was never really baby crazy then I woke up one day and all I could think of was I MUST HAVE A BABY. I cry-laughed for a good 2 days when I got a positive result. All I can say is the process can go by so fast, so do relish it

OP posts:
Toobroody · 03/09/2020 20:02

@Lemongrass9 I think I will look into some ovulation kits then! House hunting hasn't really started yet.. we're trying to wait until our annual leave in 2 weeks time to really spend most of our time viewing places. It's difficult with work and finding time together sometimes haha!

@AmyRose30 I can imagine it must be so hard, especially with a toddler! You will be able to do it though! Bodies are amazing. Have you looked into Hypnobirthing? I've been reading up on it and the positive birthing company and it looks very good. I might buy the book when we do manage to conceive as I've heard really good things about it.

Lemongrass9 · 03/09/2020 20:04

@AmyRose30 I’m sorry to hear you are struggling with thoughts like that. I am naturally quite anxious so have been trying to really relax as well as I know it will help - but it’s easier said than done!

Sorry to hear your birth was complicated, have you looked into hypnobirthing at all? I’ve been reading a lot about it and lots of people who had traumatic first deliveries found it really helpful during second pregnancy and delivery.

Lemongrass9 · 03/09/2020 20:06

@Toobroody I’ve been looking at positive birth company too! Their youtube videos are great and I’m thinking of getting the digital pack they offer if I do manage to conceive.
