@Daffodil21 omg! That's fantastic! So happy for you! 🤗

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 10:27

@Daffodil21 So so happy for you!!! :D

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2020 10:34

Thanks ladies. Hopefully this one will stick... I've got an appointment with a private clinic next week who will hopefully prescribe me progesterone due to previous history - I just hope the appointment isn't too late.

I did so many things differently this month so I'll never know what did it, or if any did! We even had a 3 day gap TWICE in my fw so I had just assumed I was out tbh!

@Daffodil21 ah that's great news! Congratulations! x

JTB123 · 01/10/2020 11:57

@Daffodil21 OMG I've checked this forum
Ever since got my BFP as I was hoping I would see you post yours one day! I'm nearly 14 weeks now so it's been a while since I was with you but OMFG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I'm so fucking happy for you xxxxx

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 14:23

@JTB123 How amazing that you're already 14 weeks!! :D

We've had so many graduates on this thread over the past few months it's hard to keep track - I wish we had a list somewhere or something! Definitely super super special news from @Daffodil21 because I know it's been a long time coming. Praying that this little one sticks xxxx

How is everyone else doing?

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 14:36

@Bam27 Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your holiday! Sorry to hear that AF arrived today. As it's almost a year TTC for you, will you be getting tests done, etc? (sorry if you've already mentioned this before!)

@Tofu35 are you still on track to test tomorrow? (if you haven't already!!)

So I got my blood test results back. The Dr said everything looks good, he went through all my vitamins, thyroid etc and said that my hormone levels were 'perfect' without explaining further. I've asked for him to send my results by email so I can have a look (obsess) at them, so just waiting on that. But I guess if my hormone levels are OK then does it rule out PCOS, or is PCOS only diagnosed by ultrasound?

The test looked at LH, FSH, Testosterone and the sex hormone.
I am a bit confused cos my blood test was on CD14 and I'm 99% sure I ovulated on CD15, so I thought my LH levels would be a bit high on CD14, but Dr didn't mention that? I wasn't asked to come in on a particular time in my cycle either. Weird...

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2020 15:33

Thanks everyone - it hasn't quite sunk in yet 😂

@JTB123 thank you ❤️ wow, 14 weeks already?! How are you doing??

@Bam27 im sorry AF arrived I hope you had a lovely time away. Do you think you'll stop tracking now you've had a break from it?

@Tofu35 good luck for tomorrow!! Unless you already tested today??

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2020 15:43

@acaciabluebell good call on getting your test results sent through to you - this is something I always wish I had done. At the time I just took their word for it when they said all was ok, then I lost track of what they had tested etc!

For PCOS I think you have to tick a certain number of boxes. I'm still pretty sure I've got undiagnosed PCOS tbh. An internal scan will show you how many antral follicles you have, and if its very high then it's possibly PCOS. Mine was 35 follicles in both ovaries, she said the threshold had recently been changed, so basically if she had done that scan before the guideline changes then I would be diagnosed with PCOS, but because they changed they were considered 'normal'. I'm still not convinced though as I have a couple of other symptoms too. Have they offered you a scan yet? They might not do if your tests were clear (I only got it because it was part of the fertility clinic tests). If not try and push for it to put your mind at rest/get treatment if needed.

When it comes to hormone levels, this is my experience: all mine were clear except prolactin over a year ago, so they had booked my in for an internal scan, which was cancelled because I got pregnant. 6 months later my prolactin levels were within normal range, so this is something which can change. I had 'suspected PCOS' because of the proclactin levels, and I wonder if I had a scan at the time with 35 antral follicles, maybe they would have diagnosed it then 🤷‍♀️

This feels like a messy post but I hope it makes some sort of sense!

OP posts:
acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 15:56

@Daffodil21 It does make sense, thank you!

I finally got my results sent to me and freaking out a little!! The Dr told me that everything was fine, but looking at the numbers now there are several which are coded as 'abnormal', and some which are coded as 'normal' but aren't actually within the stated normal range...

Sex hormone binding globulin was 24 (normal range 29 -146)
FSH was 3 (supposed to be 4.7 - 21)
LH was 15.6 (supposed to be 14.0 - 95.6 for mid cycle... so on the low side)

Wish I had done these tests on CD 3 / 21 but unfortunately was done randomly on CD14. But from looking online, a low sex hormone is a sign of PCOS, and a high LH:FSH ratio is another sign of PCOS. Confused!!

Tofu35 · 01/10/2020 16:05

Thanks @acaciabluebell @Daffodil21, testing tomorrow!

Randomly got a letter from the local hospital outpatients apologising for not getting in contact but to say I'm on their waiting list. Presuming this is to do with fertility clinic stuff (if so, would have been nice for my GP to give me a heads up before getting this 'update').

@bluebell my GP did my hormone panels at two points of my cycle, maybe that could be an option for you to see if these levels change any?

Welcome back @Bam27!

Bam27 · 01/10/2020 16:09

@acaciabluebell thanks and my holiday was good thank you. I'm probably going to speak to. My GP and see what they suggest, so might have hormones tested etc. OH isn't ready to talk to doctors yet so will just be me getting tested to start with. Hope you can. Make sense of your blood test results, looks confusing!
@Daffodil21 I'm not sure if I will stop 🤔 probably not 😂 I have loads of ovulation tests left and it's useful for me to know exactly when I ovulate coz my cycles vary so much and I've been caught out before thinking my period is late and getting excited when really I've ovulated late. I know I said it earlier but I really am so happy for you! I'm always happy when someone's gets their positive but as said before we all know just how long it's been for you and you have been so helpful to so many of us on this thread, praying this ones sticky for you!

Bam27 · 01/10/2020 16:10

@Tofu35 thank you! 😊

Rococo90 · 01/10/2020 16:13

Hi there, sorry to jump on the thread but I made one myself and didn't receive a reply so looking for some advice 😊

1st time TTC and I have 2 apps for tracking my cycle, one says my ovulation day was the 28th and one says the 29th, I knew I was ovulating anyway as my boobs are killing lol but DTD last night and wondering if I've missed my window as the say 12-36hrs past ovulation for your highest fertility window.

Did anyone conceive just after ovulating?

Any thoughts ladies? 😊

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 16:18

@Bam27 I'm not sure if I can request another blood test so soon from my GP especially as he says they are 'perfect' lol (I'm still so bemused at his choice of words). I haven't been TTC for a year yet, so can't get any detailed fertility checks yet. Maybe I'll look into getting a private blood test and scan... wonder how much those will cost lol

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 16:19

Ooops forgot to tag @Tofu35 in the previous message!

Bam27 · 01/10/2020 17:00

@acaciabluebell could you ask him about it? I dread to think how much they are privately!

acaciabluebell · 01/10/2020 17:03

Yes I think I will @Bam27, I've also been looking at my Thyroid levels and they are not looking good either for TTC. Will try and book another follow up appt, definitely

Tofu35 · 01/10/2020 17:39

Hey @rococo90 welcome! Sorry I can't be of any help with your question, but i hope someone can offer advice :)

JTB123 · 01/10/2020 22:27

@Daffodil21 I know where has the time gone!!! 🙀 I'm doing so good thank you, finally past all of the morning sickness, just have constipation to look forward too every day 🤣 but it's all part of the fun right?! 😘 12 week scan went fab, just waiting my screening results, but no news is good news! 😬 you'll have to look at the 'pregnancy' side of mums net too now you have a BFP lots of groups set up for the months of 2021 so people can go through the milestones together, it has been a big support network for me as the anxiety doesn't stop here! So pleased for you and can't wait to hear how this pregnancy progresses for you ❤️ it's your lucky sticky bean for sure! Xxx

Daffodil21 · 02/10/2020 09:21

@acaciabluebell I've got a video app with a fertility consultant next week (not the one I've been referred to), and they charge £370 for the initial consultation (inc scan) and then £190 for follow up appointment, which I think sounds about right but not sure on other places.

@Bam27 thank you, that's so lovely I still can't quite believe it! Been there with the irregular cycles and get excited. I'm on the fence about OPKs. If I hadn't done them when I had that weird 50 day cycle I would have been convinced I was pregnant. I didn't track this month and it was actually really nice not to know when the tww started! I did start to go a little crazy when I knew I was probably in it though! I suppose there's no harm in it, but if you feel like they stress you out then giving them a break might be good too?

Welcome @Rococo90 I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you either, but fingers crossed!

@JTB123 so so glad to hear you're doing well!! I'm not sure I'm quite ready to move onto one of those thread yet, I think I need to let it sink it a bit first! I almost feel like I'm lying 😂😂😂

@Tofu35 good luck today!! Let us know how it goes

Morning all! My other half (usually resembling a surly teenager when it comes to waking up early) was up with the birds this morning, asking when I was testing. Within 5 mins of me waking up and without caffeine yet, he was a brave man.

It was a BFN today, and I won't be doing another test until Wednesday, trying to keep some good boundaries in place (needed given issues with anxiety).

How are we all today?

acaciabluebell · 03/10/2020 10:48

@Tofu35 sorry to hear about the BFN, hopefully you'll get some better news on Wednesday. Is that when you're due AF? I'm 11dpo today and AF is due tomorrow/Monday for me. I had BFNs on 9dpo and 10dpo. Not testing today as I've got a busy day and I don't want a BFN to ruin my day lol. Ideally want to wait until after my period is due.

Tofu35 · 03/10/2020 16:57

@acaciabluebell thanks, it's a weird one this month. One app suggested this Wednesday and the other was yesterday. So I'm attempting to be zen-like and testing on the two days my apps suggested Confused

Sorry to hear about your two BFNs, hope by waiting for AF date you might get your positive x

acaciabluebell · 03/10/2020 21:51

@Tofu35 I actually caved and tested this morning and got yet another BFN 😬 So much for holding out till AF due 😂 I've also now got some very light pink tinged cm. AF due tomorrow so it looks like she's on her way...
