I'm AliceinBunnyland
Age 36
We don't have to share weight but I will as it is one of my goals. I weigh about 10 stone 2 which is on the high side for me. My new Bluetooth scales tell me my body fat % is just in the obese category! Seems a bit harsh Hmm I have definitely gone back to previous size after having my daughter, which is particularly rubbish since she died.

My goal is to lose about a stone but that might be unrealistic so I'll see how I feel if I get to about 9 1/2

My weakness is definitely sweet snacks and chocolate. We eat healthy meals but like to snack. I had been exercising about 3 x a week when we started lockdown but I fell out of the habit a few weeks ago and the full weather has meant I'm not even going out for walks.

I'd like to limit my sweet snacks to preferably one small sweet items most days. I also want to do some kind of cardio 3 x a week whether that's a run or some Youtube body combat or a walk.

Also want to try to do 10K steps most days though that is hard WFH!

Hi am TTC and am in the obese category. I've been maintaining a 1200 calories, some days less. Some days are a real struggle, today a slipped up a little.

AliceinBunnyland · 11/07/2020 10:24

Hi @Happyhappy37 I think it's okay to have "off" days and I like to think that I'm helping my metabolism by eating more occasionally 😄

@AliceinBunnyland 😄 mines defo needs help

VenusStarr · 13/07/2020 10:11

Hi @AliceinBunnyland and @Happyhappy37. I'm also 36, ttc for 2.5 years and 3 miscarriages have taken their toll. I was 2 stone over my healthy weight. I started slimming world last November and managed to get a stone off but lockdown happened and threw me off a bit. I actually only put on a few pounds, but I've been following the plan again and have lost 4lbs but feel like I've plateaued.

I'm struggling a bit to up my exercise, diet I'm OK with but think if I could give myself a nudge on exercise that could help me push through to go into the next stone bracket (I'm 1lb away!)

Looking forward to supporting each other :) we can do this xx

AliceinBunnyland · 13/07/2020 10:34

Hey @VenusStarr Smile x

You've done well to lose some weight. It's not easy. I hear such good things about Slimming World. I'm going to look it up as I eat healthy meals but I just snack too much I think

Plus being at home I know I'm not as active. I'd normally do 10,000 steps on an average day just walking from the train station to work and then going out to buy lunch but being at home I don't manage to do that many steps unless I go for a walk or have a very active day at home.

I'm going to try to do 10,000 steps a day as I think that will help me burn some calories but food is the main thing.

Hey @AliceinBunnyland I've been trying to get out for a walk each day, sometimes twice and I think that's helped my mental health, I also feel slimmer on my legs. Aiming for 10,000 steps sounds good. My dh has been doing couch to 5k and think I might join him this week - I can run, but fallen out of the habit in the last year. We also live at the top of a massive hill so that puts me off!! :)

AliceinBunnyland · 13/07/2020 10:44

@VenusStarr I was aiming to walk every day even if a short walk but every other day seemed more realistic. Tbh I feel I could easily get into the habit of the weather we're ok. I think my activity dropped off a bit when the weather dropped.

Couch to 5K sounds good. Yeah I hate running up hills. You could maybe use the walk up the hill at the end as your cool down (so you don't need to try to run it) Grin

@VenusStarr well done on losing weight, it's a hard battle. I had a bad day Saturday so I ate a that I shouldn't. Yesterday was better. I really need to try harder with exercise. I was doing 6000 steps per day but it became a struggle and I haven't done it for a while. Probably I will aim for every other day, it's more realistic.

@AliceinBunnylandthink my activity dropped off a bit when the weather dropped this

AliceinBunnyland · 13/07/2020 11:42

@Happyhappy37 I was thinking with steps maybe a weekly goal would work because some days it's just not possible so for example rather than daily 10K I might say weekly 60K which accounts for me doing 10K most days but also allows me to miss a day or just do more some days than others.

You must have gathered already my approach is quite relaxed and I believe in days of eating what we want and being able to relax. Sometimes the best thing we can do for our bodies is rest.

OP posts:
Happyhappy37 · 13/07/2020 12:01

@AliceinBunnyland your approach sounds similar to mine, however I try really hard during the week to maintain a 1200 calories.
Weekly goal is a good idea. Going to go for a walk about 2pm and see if I can manage to do a walk jog kind of thing (I never run or jog).
am planning to have one a meal day for this week to make up for my weekend of junk food. 🤞🏾

VenusStarr · 13/07/2020 14:45

I went for a run! 😊 Feeling good, as it clinch to 5k there's a bit of walking in between bit I surprised myself that on the last run I could've gone for a bit longer. Nice to know my fitness hasn't completely fallen off a cliff.

Dh is doing slimming world with me which makes it easier - we tend to have Saturdays / weekends a bit more relaxed @Happyhappy37 @AliceinBunnyland, so we had pizza on Saturday 😋

VenusStarr · 13/07/2020 14:45

couch

AliceinBunnyland · 14/07/2020 11:18

@Happyhappy37 How was your walk / jog?

@VenusStarr Well done on the run! It definitely helps when you're in it together. My DH wants to lose a bit of weight too (though he really doesn't need to)

I didn't manage to go for a walk yesterday but I definitely will today.

I did something like 23,000 steps on Sunday so feel less bad about not doing so much yesterday.

OP posts:
Happyhappy37 · 14/07/2020 11:49

@AliceinBunnyland my walk was okay, but my silly step counter stopped working. Planning do some exercise at home today. 23000 steps is a lot in one day, I've barely hit 6000 in a day.

@VenusStarr well done. It's nice when your SO takes part, it makes it so much easier. Been trying to get my SO to join, but he won't.

AliceinBunnyland · 14/07/2020 12:57

@Happyhappy37 Oh that's annoying!

Yes 23,000 is a lot for me, not really sure how I did it. I had done 10K by lunchtime as I went for a walk for about an hour and then I was cleaning at home and prepping for a bbq! Normally I'd do 3-5K most days unless I go out for a walk but easily do 10K when I'm going out to work (walk from train station to office etc) so that's why I'm aiming for that but it's not easy.

OP posts:
AliceinBunnyland · 15/07/2020 10:33

I managed to do my 10K steps yesterday. Went for a walk (about 2 miles) and then started clearing out some drawers at about 9pm which meant that I got more steps in and managed to put some things in a charity bag that is being collected today.

OP posts:
Happyhappy37 · 15/07/2020 12:19

That's great @AliceinBunnyland, I did some exercise at home yesterday, been out for a walk this morning, will try and do some more exercise later.

AliceinBunnyland · 15/07/2020 21:15

Good for you too @Happyhappy37 I haven't done any "proper" exercise but I've managed to do my steps through going shopping and doing some housework

Hello. I'm ttc after a MMC in March. This will be my second cycle. I got a bit obsessed last cycle and it made the tww so much harder. This time round I'm going to try to focus more on my health and if I get a sticky bean then all the better.
I've lost almost 14kg since October (when we decided to get in shape to ttc) of that 7kg has been since my miscarriage in March.
I've been losing weight by intermittent fasting and it is the healthiest I have felt for a long time. Just 1.5kg until I officially have a healthy bmi.
There is some debate over if fasting affects ovulation, but I don't think what I do is extreme enough for that. It seems to be one of the many things where they don't really know so can't reccommend it just in case. So many people seem to say that once they started fasting they suddenly found they were more fertile so it could go either way.

I'm hoping you ladies will inspire me to do more exercise which has been sorely lacking recently.

AliceinBunnyland · 15/07/2020 21:42

Hi @Thewhalewhisperer Well done on losing some weight already. How do you find intermittent fasting? Do you basically have a late breakfast and and early dinner and then just eat between those times? I think it could work for me more so than something like 5:2 but we finish work late often so it's not unusual to eat dinner at 9pm.

OP posts:
Happyhappy37 · 16/07/2020 13:48

@Thewhalewhisperer well done. I am interested in learning more about fasting . How do you do it?

VenusStarr · 16/07/2020 19:16

Well done @AliceinBunnyland :)

I'm sorry for your loss @Thewhalewhisperer well done for losing all the weight! My weight is due following my miscarriages - I've plateaued and losing my inspiration with it, but you're inspiring me that it can be done :)

You're doing well @Happyhappy37 💪

I did another run yesterday which I'm happy with, although dh pulled a muscle near his hip, so not sure if he'll be up for tomorrow's run, will have to push myself to go alone... We've been for a walk today, around 7000 steps all in. I'm trying to be active each day, even if it's not proper exercise.

Thewhalewhisperer · 16/07/2020 19:22

Thank you. The best way to learn about fasting us the Gin Stephens books but the basic gist us that by eating often, regardless of how many calories, our body stays in receiving food mode rather than burning stored energy (fat) mode. Even if we cut right down on calories, if our body is in receiving mode but isnt actually getting enough energy from food (nor can it access fat because it's in receiving mode) it simply switches down metabolism so we burn fewer calories!
With fasting you spend a longer period of time in the mode of getting energy from stored fat, the metabolism doesn't switch down because we are in the mode which means we are getting plenty of energy for our metabolism by burning fat.
That's probably not very well explained!
It has worked really well for me because rather than denying food (which means I think about it all the time!) I just delay when I eat it and bloody enjoy it when I do.
I know it sounds unbelievable but I am quite content now most days just eating in a 4 hour window, sometimes 6, sometimes 2, but I no longer graze all day.
This is probably the longest I've ever stuck to anything and it might not be right for everyone but it works so well for me.
