Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 2

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

See attached my current chart - at 10DPO my RHR is at it's all time high this cycle and has not started to decline for AF yet. Fingers crossed!

@Fran2020 enjoy your lazy Saturday morning, sounds bliss! Yes I am just going to wait and see what happens. Hahaha I know right 🤣. I love weights! I’m crap at running tho 😂. How long are your cycles? What’s your Hr doing doing today? Mines stuck at 64bpm!

@sle0911 yay!! That looks great 👍

Fran2020 · 18/07/2020 09:45

Morning, how is everyone? Mine is back up to 66bpm today! Perhaps a slightly better nights sleep but I still woke up during the night and feel so tired today!

@sle0911 That's really promising that yours is back up again! Do you think you're now 8/9 DPO?

@mumof23188 Thank you, I am so far! Good idea! That's what I'm trying to do. After a year trying, I don't want to get my hopes up. Are you still training? Hahaha I got really in to running a few years ago back then moved to weight training as I preferred it. But I am trying to include some easy runs these days but I struggle haha! Which part of your graph is AF?

mumof23188 · 18/07/2020 10:37

@Fran2020 that’s great it’s gone back up 🤞. Glad you slept better, I did too but like you I am also really tired! Wow a year, that must be tough. I’m really hoping you get your BFP soon 🤞. Yes still training when I can. I’ve struggled the last two weeks because of feeling so sick. I tried a run a few weeks ago, it was not a pretty sight 🤣. Good for you still running. Wish I could do it! AF is where it marked at 60bpm. That was the first day.

Fran2020 · 18/07/2020 22:27

@mumof23188 me too! I don't think I've had a dip like this before. I really hope it keeps going up. 🤞🏼 thanks, that's good you did too! Yeah it can be pretty tough but I'm feeling positive! 😊 That's really kind, I hope you get a bfp soon too!
That's good you're still training! Yeah I've been struggling the past week and a bit as not felt great but I've tried to do what I can. Hahaha I mean I'm very slooow these days!! 😂

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 08:25

@Fran2020 fingers crossed 🤞 is it looking totally different to your previous cycles? I admire you, Yes keep positive! How are you today? Haha slow and steady is probably best anyway 😂

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 09:29

@mumof23188 yeah totally different, looking back at my last few cycles. Haven't looked back at all the cycles though. Awww thanks, trust me I've had lots of low moments but I'm feeling good right now! Hahaha yes slow and steady is just perfect for running right now! How are you?

This is what it looks like today so far... says it's 83 bpm, but I don't know if I trust that after looking at the HR graph on the garmin app for the hours since midnight. I'll see if it adjusts through the day! 🤔 it's never this high 🤞🏼

@Fran2020 that’s really promising 🤞. I can only imagine, I’m glad you are. It’s such a tough time mentally isn’t it. Lots of highs and lows. Haha definitely 🤣. I’m ok, no AF here yet and HR hasn’t dropped yet either. Wow that’s super high!! Fingers crossed for you!!!

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 09:43

This is my graph!

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 10:49

@mumof23188 I hope so 🤞🏼thank you, yeah it really is and at the start of lockdown I really started obsessing about ttc and would get really stressed about it. Now I am TRYING to chill out as much as I can, which is easier said than done. Yeah it seems too high though so will keep monitoring it. Going to try to wait until Saturday to test!
That's good AF hasn't arrived got you yet! Hope it doesn't, when would you test again?

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 10:56

Ok it seems to have readjusted now to show 65bpm which is the same as yesterday. I knew 83bpm was too good to be true! 😂

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 11:33

@Fran2020 yeah lockdown really hasn’t helped. It’s been such an awful time hasn’t it. More time to think about things. Definitely easier said than done. I’m trying to keep it in the back of my mind but it’s hard to not obsess about everything isn’t it. Roll on Saturday for you 🤞🤞. Ahh 65bpm still good tho. What does yours sit at around AF?

Yes no sign YET! No cramps or anything and usually I suffer badly but again not being to hopeful. I will leave it a few days so possibly Wednesday morning.

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 11:51

@mumof23188 nope it hasn't! Although in some ways it has as I've had more time. But that's not always a good thing! It's very hard not to obsess over everything. The TWW drags so much too! I know, argh another week to go! 🤞🏼
Well my AF this month was 67bpm on CD1 and then fluctuated between 59 and 60 with one day at 64.
AF before was 57-62 bpm (all but one reading was in the 60s).
AF before that was 52-61bpm (all but one reading was in the 50s).
So varies a bit I guess! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds promising, keeping my fingers crossed to you! 🤞🏼 How long you been TTC this time?

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 12:31

@Fran2020 I agree. To much time is never a good thing! Hopefully this next week will fly by. Ah that’s interesting, definitely seem to vary but so many things affect RHR don’t they.

Thank you! Only two cycles so not long at all!

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 13:10

@mumof23188 Thank you, me too! 😊 Oh yeah definitely, I'm taking my RHR fluctuations with a pinch of salt haha! Just find it so interesting!
Ahh cool, have you got two children? How long did you TTC for them?

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 14:19

@Fran2020 I do too. I didn’t realise there was such a link between HR and our cycles! I am obsessed with checking mine now. Yes I have two. Took 9months with our first and 3 with our second.

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 15:10

@mumof23188 me neither! I am too but I need to stop haha. As I'm sure I've seen some peoples graphs who are pregnant but didn't get big rises. Everyone is different! Mines only 64bpm now. 🤷🏻‍♀️ ahh cool, hopefully it won't take long for your third!

mumof23188 · 19/07/2020 15:31

@Fran2020 I check mine constantly! Yes I have seen that too. I think it’s different for everyone isn’t it but does seem that most get a drop for AF! Does yours update through the day? Mine sets itself in the morning but takes readings every 5 minutes.

Hey ladies I have been reading this thread with great interest! I’ve recently started working out for ivf prep later this year. My DH purchased me a Fitbit in which I am mainly using to track my fitness however I have noticed the RHR stats. I ovulated on Monday and my RHR decreased and has pretty much stayed steady at 68. If I was pregnant was it meant to rise after conception/ovulation? I find 68 quite high aswell compared you ladies is this because I’m generally unfit? What’s the clues to fertility with the, it’s pretty fascinating! I attached my graphs. I don’t think I am pregnant since we only had sex twice and before ovulation.

Hope your all having a lovely Sunday 🌞

Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 17:30

@mumof23188 yeah it does seem to update a bit through the day, I think depending on if I'm resting or moving. But it doesn't usually change much from the reading in the morning.

@ChicaXS Typically I think most people have a higher RHR in the second half of their cycle whether they are pregnant or not because of progesterone. But it definitely varies between people.

Juno231 · 19/07/2020 18:04

@ChicaXS as fran said - tends to be higher in your luteal phase with a drop for most of us just before AF shows. Ha and unfortunately yes, the fitter you are the lower the heart rate. Bear in mind alcohol and being ill will affect your RHR as well.

Speaking of which girls, my rhr has been worthless the past 10 days or so because of alcohol! Just as my rhr has recovering from last weekend we had another boozy weekend so it's shot straight back up lol. This isn't the norm for me I swear, just happened to have been a bit more social the last two weekends 🙊. I won't have time to drop back below 60 this cycle because of it though!

@mumof23188 your chart is so weird that I'm really hopeful it means it's a BFP!
@Fran2020 I nearly pooped myself seeing 85 lol. Glad the adjusted rhr is still trending high for you though! When are you thinking of testing?

My RHR for today has now gone down to 62 bpm 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wonder where it'll end up! And what this week will be like!

@Juno231 wow yeah your chart is all over the place!! What cycle day are you or DPO?
I know right, I really didn't understand why it was that high!! I don't know, I am sooo tempted... AF is due around Thursday/ Friday so I was planning to wait until Saturday, but I don't know if I can wait! 😬 I'm CD23 / 10 DPO today.

Juno231 · 19/07/2020 20:29

@Fran2020 ha I'm not gonna lie, I'd not be able to wait that long - I'd be caving at 11/12 DPO at the LATEST. Remind me which cycle this is for you again?

I'm CD10 today so right on my second day of FW. I've been ovulating between days 12-16 this year so far but am hoping for a bit more of a pattern going forward 😅

OP posts:
Fran2020 · 19/07/2020 20:36

@Juno231 I know right! My partner said to try and wait until Saturday but that's hard!! Although I don't want to get a faint positive early and then get excited, only to later get a BFN. 😬😩
This is cycle 13... last month I tested at 12DPO with an FRER.

How long have you been TTC? Yeah hopefully you'll have more of a pattern going forward!
