I'm on cycle 2 of TTC and from all my OPKs and symptoms it looks like I'm still not ovulating after coming off contraception.

I know I know I need to wait for my cycles to get back on track but would Agnus Castus help me along the way? From reading other threads online some people absolutely swear by it and others have had awful experiences.

I just need a kick start for my body to remember what the hell it is meant to do and I really don't want to go into a third cycle without any ovulation again 😞

Who's taken it? What were your experiences. Is it worth giving it a go? Did anyone manage to conceive using it?

Or is soy isoflavones the way to go instead?

I've not tried Angus castus yet but I've ordered some online and waiting for it arrive. I've currently experiencing a really long cycle and hoping it will encourage my period.

I also have soy inf

Lauren1288 · 29/06/2020 08:50

Sorry was meant to finish previous post off by saying I have soy isoflavones ready to take from day 2 of my cycle to help try and shorten my cycle length

So I've not tried them yet but I'll let you know how it goes

PintOfBovril · 29/06/2020 08:51

I conceived after 6 months of agnus castus which I was taking for irregular cycles. I have no idea if it worked but I had a very positive outcome. I got mine from neals yard. Good luck xx

zippityzip · 29/06/2020 08:52

Thank you! I did read online that you're not supposed to take them both at the same time. I hope that it works for you!

@zippityzip I didn’t have my withdrawal bleed until 20months after coming off the pill. I was on the pill for 15yrs without a break though. Since my cycles have returned they can be very long, they range anything from 30-87days. I’ve been taking Agnus castus for my last two cycles and I’ve noticed a difference for sure. Last cycle was 56days and this cycle will be around 40days as I’m 8dpo now so they are getting better. You should only take Agnus castus until you ovulate though and then restart on cd1. I also take folic acid and vitamin D

zippityzip · 29/06/2020 09:28

Wow so if I do bf ovulate at all this cycle do you think it'll be worth me taking them next cycle from CD1?

OP posts:
zippityzip · 29/06/2020 09:29

Don't*

Not do bf

Suki2020 · 29/06/2020 09:46

I would just start taking them. I started mid cycle as I didn’t know when I’d ovulate. I then ovulated 17days later. Do you temp?

zippityzip · 29/06/2020 10:41

I don't temp, I don't want to start putting pressure on my DH and shouting about ovulation and making it very unsexy. He thinks we are "casually trying" because "it's so easy to get pregnant". I'm going to order some - what dosage are you taking?

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 29/06/2020 14:29

@zippityzip I find temping helps me know I’ve ovulated. I take 400mg in the morning and 400mg in the evening

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 07:44

@Suki2020 I've just ordered some to be delivered tomorrow 😂 400mg also. I'm CD10 is it ok for me to start taking straight away??

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 30/06/2020 08:16

@zippityzip yeah start taking it. Not sure if you can take it if you are on any other medication though, so you’d need to check that. They do say you need to take it for 3months to get the benefits from it but I’d say I see the difference already but I guess everyone is different. Hope it helps you

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 08:30

Thank you @Suki2020

I'll start tomorrow 😁 not on any other medication so fingers crossed. Just want my ovaries to remember what to do!!

Let me know how you get on!

Stabal · 30/06/2020 10:49

@Suki2020 Hi! Sorry for jumping in but just wondered if you could explain why you stop when you ovulate? I've not read this and I took them through ovulation.. Not being rude, just curious I've been taking them wrong?! My cycle can be up to 37 days but it was 27 this month so hoping it wasn't a fluke and they're doing something

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 10:53

@Stabal I read online that you take them from CD1 - so the first day of your period and then stop when you ovulate.
But then I've also read that you shouldn't take them when pregnant so maybe that's why you stop when you ovulate?

OP posts:
Stabal · 30/06/2020 10:59

@zippityzip Oh god. I feel silly now. I'm nearly sure I had a CP this month too as I had 2 faint positives on frer, 2nd darker than the first then AF came 6 days later.. Now I'm panicking I caused that 😣

AudacityOfHope · 30/06/2020 11:03

I came off the pill and had no period for about 9 months; started taking Agnus Castus in June and was pregnant by September (I hadn't even had a period by then so assume I ovulated for the first time and got pregnant in September).

Who knows if it made a difference? But I harm in trying.

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 11:05

@Stabal No don't panic! Because there are also articles that say it is safe 🤷🏼‍♀️ so who knows. CPs are unfortunately common - so I'm sorry you experienced that. Here's to the next cycle!

OP posts:
zippityzip · 30/06/2020 11:05

@AudacityOfHope That's the kind of positivity I need! Thank you for sharing. I hope they work for me!

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 30/06/2020 11:55

@Stabal my GP told me not to take them after I’ve ovulated as they are not safe to take whilst pregnant. He told be there was a much greater risk of miscarriage if you take them after ovulation. So I stop as soon as I get a positive opk and then start taking them again once my period starts.

Stabal · 30/06/2020 12:40

@Suki2020 Crikey, not even EPU told me that 🙈 I will stop them this cycle! Thanks!

Suki2020 · 30/06/2020 13:04

@stabal they are perfectly safe until you’ve ovulated. Hope they work for you.

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 16:35

I've also bought myo inositol.

This TTC business is making me crazy.

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 30/06/2020 16:38

@zippityzip can you take both together?
