Very heavy implantation bleed? Is this positive?

Hi all,

I am around 10/11DPO with AF due Sunday.

I had 3 days of bleeding from 6/7DPO to 9/10DPO, heavy enough that I assumed it was AF early. The only difference was that the cramping felt different and I also felt nauseous but the colour, volume and clots seemed like normal AF so I decided this wasnt my month.

I have stopped bleeding now but just felt off today - nausea, headache, backache and twinges around my left ovary so thought I would take a test just on the off chance.

Am I being crazy or can you see a line? Have attached pics and tweaked pics. I have had evaps before and this definitely has some pink to it but it is hard to capture on camera.

And if it is a line, could the 3 days of bleeding really have been implantation bleeding despite being so heavy?

Any advice gladly welcomed thank you! Xxxx

@Bouncytree ah that would be lovely, it's a good age gap isn't it? I'm thinking if we do conceive soon my little boy will get his free hours for nursery by the time new babe is here, which should work nicely. How long have you been TTC?

Bouncytree · 21/06/2020 12:12

@jammyone yes same! They will have a nice few hours in playschool which would work well with another wee one.

Not too long. This is the 3rd cycle. But we had an early loss, not much more than a CP really, very faint line and only preg for a week so it wasn’t a viable PG. horrible experience at the time, but five now and happy to move on. My cycle is normally regular but now all messed up! Which I’m finding frustrating. It’s normally really regular. The after symptoms are also confusing as similar to pregnancy. I’m doing ovulation tests and pregnancy tests at the sane time 🤦‍♀️.

How long have you been TTC? It’s hard waiting isn’t it!!

jammyone · 21/06/2020 12:26

@bouncytree Ah sorry to hear of your loss. I experienced a chemical pregnancy with my first and it was horrible to go through, I get the feeling it is very common though.

We conceived our little boy on the 2nd round last time and this is currently only our first round. I have to go out now so I don't think I'll be testing today - but I will update when I do!

Hope you all have a lovely day!

strawberry2017 · 21/06/2020 12:34

can definitely see a line this time. Couldn't really in the first test.

rooarsome · 21/06/2020 14:09

Definitely looks like a line to me!

jammyone · 21/06/2020 17:54

Well that's me out!

@bumblebee04 those look positive to me! It's probably just quite early on. I'd wait 2 days and test again.

Bumblebee04 · 21/06/2020 18:18

@jammyone thank you x I’m glad you can see it too, I’ve just been and bloods done at hospital because im currently having my first period since my miscarriage 8 weeks ago but I just feel odd, tired dizzy sick and I expected this period to be horrendous too and it was spotting for few days then just bleeding from yesturday but nothing much again so I’m so confused x I’ve definatly had a negative a few wks ago and a scan to confirm nothing left x I’m just really allover at the minute I guess hospital will call me later today so hopefully my bloods will shed some light but I just can’t stop looking at the test x I defo see a line and it’s pink too I’m so glad you see it too

jammyone · 21/06/2020 19:40

Any update @NJ2910 ?

NJ2910 · 22/06/2020 13:05

@jammyone nooo sorry to hear you're out? Presume there has been no further update :(?

So I do have an update but it isnt particularly good news - I continued to get faint tests over the weekend and this morning. With this in mind, the bleeding last week, nausea and cramping in my left side, I spoke to my GP. She thinks it could be ectopic :(she wanted to get me in for a scan at the EPU but the registrar said it would be too early to see anything, so I've been in this morning for my bloods and will be in again on wed for second bloods and depending on HCG levels, they will decide whether to scan at the end of the week.i know there is nothing I can do except wait but feeling rubbish at the moment:(

@nj2920 no update. The last test I took was very very negative so I'm assuming that's it and I have no more tests now. I still feel "off" very tired and slightly nauseous.

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. When will you get test results? Are you.still getting faint lines now?

I also still have pain in my left side. It feels similar to ovulation pain. I'm going to monitor it and see if it goes.

Bouncytree · 22/06/2020 17:21

Sorry to hear that @NJ2910. Are you doing ok? I’ve just had an early loss at 5 weeks and I know how confusing and bruising it can feel. It sounds like you are getting really good care. Try to be kind to yourself if you can. Let us know how you get on. Sending kind thoughts

Bouncytree · 22/06/2020 17:30

Have you passed the date of your missed period @jammyone?

@Bumblebee04 sorry you’ve gone through all that. It is a very confusing time. After an early loss I found it very hard to accept the negative result, I still had strong symptoms and just couldn’t understand what was going on. I am also now trying again before I get my next period and it is soooo confusing. I don’t even know if I’ve ovulated or not. I am doing ovulation tests and preg tests at the same time also thinking AF might be coming!

I think the body signals get all mixed up, as well as you mind! As long as you had a clear negative and scan, then this is a new positive. It’s faint...so I’d be cautious until it is a little stronger...but it’s looking on the hopeful side. Hold tight and fingers crossed for you🤞. Let us know how you get on.

jammyone · 22/06/2020 18:28

@bouncytree Yes, AF was due on 15th, came on 13th and was super light, gone by 17th. Was hoping it was an implantation bleed or similar as it really didn't feel like AF, all my strongest tests were taken after this until I got the flat negative yesterday.

Some really excellent wisdom with regards to early losses and messing up your system. I remember it well.

Bouncytree · 22/06/2020 19:21

Disappointing @jammyone. 😔 Though the light AF does seem suspicious. Is it normally quite reliable or can it vary?

My boobs feel like bullets at the moment.
⛑ ⛑. Right under my arm pits and into my back. I’ve done two negative tests, but I think it’s too early to test. I think the earliest I might be able to test is the 25th with a FRER if I count the bleeding first day of period. I’ve been falling asleep really early...if it continues my preg alarm will be going off! 🤣🤣🤣

jammyone · 22/06/2020 20:08

@Bouncytree It is a bit disappointing. My preg alarm was definitely going off for a while there, albeit quietly! My AF is generally ALL over the place, sometimes it is barely anything. Keep getting aches in my right ovary and my tummy is pretty swollen so secretly I'm hoping I'm wrong and in a month or two I'll be coming back with my "I was 10 weeks pregnant all along" thread but in reality I think I'm just out this round! oh well 9 days til I OV again.

That sounds pretty promising for you! I know achey hard boobs is a strong sign. so 25th will be how many dpo? Please keep me updated, maybe I can live vicariously through you, haha.

Bouncytree · 22/06/2020 20:33

@jammyone I know, it’s a killer every time isn’t it. I know I have those little dreams as well, and imagine myself telling people how wild it is! In the first TCC I convinced myself excess wind (tmi) from folic acid tabs, and aching hips from gardening meant I was PG.i imagined myself telling people I got PG first cycle and being older doesn’t matter 🤦‍♀️

But yes another month is another shot at it!

Yes I’m feeling hopeful. If I didn’t just have the early loss, I would be almost certain of PG, as this is v unusual for me...but just can’t depend on my body signs right now. And afraid to hope tooooo much. So trying to keep a lid on it. Though I will be testing (again) as soon as I can, I’m very impatient!

Will let you know. Hurry up the 25th!! 😆

Jez the preg test companies must be laughing all the way to the bank. 🤣

jammyone · 22/06/2020 21:02

@Bouncytree They must! Halo

I look forward to your update.

I have one frer left in the bathroom cupboard which I'm going to take tomorrow morning with FMU, if thats negative I'm going to stop obsessing and googling 'cryptic pregnancy' etc

Bouncytree · 22/06/2020 21:16

@jammyone lol yes good to find a way to call time, at a certain point it actually feels better to look towards the next chance.

jammyone · 23/06/2020 12:03

@Bouncytree another BFN as expected, but now I'm randomly bleeding. No pain though. I have a telephone consultation with my GP later Confused

@NJ2910 any news? Hope you're ok.

Bumblebee04 · 23/06/2020 16:50

@Bouncytree thank you I’m sorry you had to go through that too and I didn’t even think I ovulated too and with it being 7weeks after my loss I thought was period well I still do think it was a period lasted 7 days but only really 3 days were a bleed and 1 of those very heavy but no clots, but obviously I just have ovulated I had bloods done on Sunday when I took and got the faint frer they said hcg was 6 so telling me I’m not pregnant but I just feel it did my last frer today and straight away 2 lines clear as day I just don’t know what to thinkthe hospital won’t redo bloods said test in 2 weeks as it might be chemical this is my morning frer literally took the pic at 3 mins so I could tell myself I’m not loosing the plot, I don’t know what to think and i don’t think I could handle another loss either I’m very scared at this point tbh xx fingers crossed for you and hoping your signs are pregnancy symptoms xx

jammyone · 23/06/2020 18:43

@bumblebee04 Wow that is a great line, I would say it looks very encouraging! I understand why you might be feeling apprehensive of course. If you call and explain will they not rescan you?

Bouncytree · 23/06/2020 18:57

Hi @Bumblebee04 I’m so sorry all this is happening you. It must be so confusing and stressful. It’s so hard when you are getting so many mixed messages. There is a line on the test for sure, but I guess it’s important for it to get stronger.

This is quite useful:

“An hCG level of less than 5 mIU/mL is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25 mIU/mL is considered positive for pregnancy. An hCG level between 6 and 24 mIU/mL is considered a grey area, and you'll likely need to be retested to see if your levels rise to confirm a pregnancy.“

So they are saying they are not sure right now but levels are low - they will either raise in a couple of weeks or go away.

It’s agony....but i think it’s a time will tell situation.

It’s hopeful you havnt had clots, but also not impossible to have a CP without clots.

I think all you can do is hold tight and keep testing, or if you feel better test in a week or 2. I know that is so very hard! Everything is crossed for you and sending as many kind thoughts as I can muster.

Bouncytree · 23/06/2020 18:58

@jammyone sorry about the BFN. 😔 lots of mixed symptoms going on for you. How did you go at the doctor?
